This house was great. Large bedrooms, large gathering areas, amazing back deck where we seen many deers and squirrels. Very close proximity to town. Would visit here again!!

We were 4 couples on a short 2 day trip. Shep’s Hideout was perfect. We had plenty of space indoors. We loved the deck and the outdoor furniture was very comfortable. Very clean house and well appointed. We recommends highly and would rebook w/o hesitation.

We love the deck outside we spent most of our time out there. Very relaxing.

We had so much fun at Sheps Hideout! We will def book it again. Easy access to town but out of the super busy part. Quick access to the lake, downtown, groceries.

We absolutely loved it here! We had such a great time! My inlaws, sis in law, bro in law and his wife and 2 kids, my wife, 2 kids, and 11 month baby all stayed here. There are 2 futons that fold down for extra places to sleep. The only downfall of this house is there isn't public access to the river. I thought that there was due to it being so close you can see it from the deck, but it goes behind private properties. But it's not a far drive to go to the lake or another river spot. It's very homey and so fun to sit around the big dining table to play games when the little kids go to sleep. We'll definitely return to this location in the future.

We enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and everything was made simple from start to finish.

Great space, really appreciated the cleanliness, comfort and privacy of the lot/location.

The house was not clean when we arrived. We found pizza in a drawer. A sock in the bathroom. Wet stinky towels. And poop in the toilet. The tv didn’t work. Had two different guys come to fix it. The cups were not microwaveable. I burned my hand on one. There is a large deck but no outdoor inning table. No instructions about anything in the house.

Great place with a quiet location, sleeps 8 men and there gear comfortably, and we had tons of wildlife in the area

Loved the home. I would stay their again. They were a little short on supplies. We had to buy dishwasher soap and we only had 4 garbage bags.

There’s plenty of space for multiple families. My family, my sister and her family, and my brother and his wife all stayed here. We had a great time playing games and visiting. The location is perfect, it’s a quick drive downtown and not far from Ponderosa State Park.

It’s a real home away from home with soooo many rooms with places for a big group to sleep.
Close to everything!!!
It was just my wife and I and we had plenty of room to stretch out.
Only complaint was no remote. For the family room tv upstairs. Other than that I would recommend this home to everyone

Beds/furniture—uncomfortable/wobbly. Cable TV/sound system not available as advertised. No instructions for TVs, sound system or fireplace. One TV wasn’t connected and no Ruko remote. Back deck, fire pit and entire curtilage was covered with several feet of snow. No snow shovel until after 24+ hours. These amenities couldn’t be used since they couldn’t be safely accessed. To clear areas, would take several hours. Photos available. Vacasa staff was useless, obtuse and unprofessional. The door and lockbox codes did not work. Couldn’t reach Vacasa but after ~15 min in 18°, I figured they mixed an asterisk in the codes. Inside temp was 52°. Took a long time to heat inside. Vacasa troubleshot TVs. Spoke to 3 people and repeated the same measures, they referred all concerns to local office but it wouldn’t be until the following day they called. The responding people from Vacasa were awful. Both were unprofessional/condescending and didn’t find instructions orgivehelp to resolve any issues. One called a manager to get the property owner to add Spectrum app so we could watch TV but manager said she didn’t want to bother the owner Christmas Eve. They didn’t make any effort to fix the TV issues the following days either. To connect second TV, they unplugged the carbon monoxide alarm and left it on the floor. Instead of cable TV, they said we should watch TV with other apps or Apple TV which we weren’t familiar with. They suggested we watch YouTube to learn other ways to use TV rather than bother owner to add Spectrum app. I asked associate and maintenance person to elevate issues to Vacasa management. They both responded that I would have to do that and they were only there to "fix things" but nothing was fixed. I asked why they would not elevate our concerns, then maintenance person started yelling at me and got very aggressive making my wife very uncomfortable. Associate had to calm the maintenance person and seemed to hold her as to hold her back. I asked them to leave but the associate calmed the maintenance person but both continued to be unprofessional and the maintenance person remained aggressive and bully-like. I called Vacasa to describe what happened and asked for management to be notified. I only got a two-line text from same associate, who wrote, "I am sorry if we upset you and your wife. I was just trying to make your stay more enjoyable.” The employees’ ruined our entire stay. We felt Vacasa didn’t care about our concerns or satisfaction.

This cabin had everything we needed. A great place to stay. I wood stay here again. It would’ve been nice if the TV and speakers around the house were simpler or set up to work with the instructions.

Shep’s Hideout was perfect. The home is comfortable and spacious and has a great layout and location. The large back deck was the perfect place to gather on a warm summer evening. The kitchen is well stocked and made it convenient for preparing meals. Our only complaint is not necessarily for the owner or the house cleaner, but for guests. Please, please rinse your dirty dishes before putting them in the dishwasher! I would not hesitate to book this house again!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!
This was great for a few of us who just wanted a weekend away. We were so thankful there was a kitchen for us to cook all of our meals and enjoyed warming up after spending time in the snow. Thanks for having us!

Cabin Surrounded by Trees & Deer
We loved this cabin in McCall. We enjoyed walking around the subdivision & spotting it's wild residents (deer). The cabin is surrounded by trees and surprisingly private even though you are in town. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 to share this place with our friends (family of 3). There was plenty of room for seating/dining/gaming. We loved the wood fireplace. It was our favorite thing. The kitchen had pretty much everything you could want. The washer/dryer were new. The supplies (toilet paper, garbage bags, etc.) were adequate. We used the grill several times even though it was freezing outside. Someone plowed the driveway while we were on an outing. We were grateful for that! The house was very clean when we arrived. Everything was in good repair with 2 minor exceptions (the main bathroom towel bar fell off with a slight touch and the bedroom closest to the front door had a bedframe that was wobbly due to a loose wheel). I few suggestions for the homeowners would be to cover the wood pile, add a garbage disposal, provide a pizza cutter, purchase new fluffy pillows & remove a tree or 2 from the driveway (it was tricky to get a full size truck between the trees).

Annual Girls Camping Trip
Loved the layout! Great Location. One thing I really wish was that firewood was provided, we love to have fires in the fireplace and it was a pain & another expense to get from local store. I've rented lots of places with fireplaces & all of them provided plenty of wood.

Awesome!
This place had everything we needed and it fit our party of 10 perfectly! The best part of the place, the deck! We spent a lot of time out there and all 10 of us were out there. It was easy to get to and a short distance to the downtown area. If we would ever visit McCall again, we would definitely stay here.

Spring break ski trip
The house is plenty spacious to be able to stretch out and relax after skiing all day. We cooked multiple meals while there they have all the utensils and cutlery and accessories needed. Bring your own spices and goods for cooking obviously but they had some basics salt and pepper and a few others. Overall great experience in a beautiful setting over looking the Creek below.

Great house
We really enjoyed this house for our vacation 8 adults and everyone had their own bed. Well equipped kitchen and plenty of seating for mingling. We rent vrbos every winter for our trips and this was one of the best ones we've rented. Thanks and we'll be looking forward to coming back to McCall again.

Winter family ski trip
Nice and very clean. The clothes dryer did not work when we arrived and our trip was 4 nights so that was a big inconvenience for a large family of skiers. Has a nice wood fire place but bring your own kindling and fire wood as they do not provide it which was disappointing given other places we have stayed with wood fireplaces. There is no garbage disposal in the kitchen sink which was odd and not ideal. They also do not have a sufficient amount of pots and pans if you’re cooking for a large family. The bedding in the master bedroom was not sufficient for this time of year and the home got cold but we could not change the thermostat. All and all, it was a nice place with plenty of beds for a large family.

Our experience at Shep's Hideout was exceptional!! Lots of room to stretch out, was clean, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, having a washer and dryer was wonderful and the location was great! The local staff were very accommodating! My sister, who lives nearby, purchased supplies to make our stay more comfortable but was unable to gain access using the code on the day we were to arrive. She had to leave everything on the front porch as she had to get to her daughter's wedding rehearsal. I called Vacasa and explained my dilemma and asked if they could send someone from their local office to set the supplies inside as we were still at the airport in Boise. Upon arrival all had been taken inside and set on the kitchen counter!! A BIG thank you to the local Vacasa staff!!The only things we wished for was an ironing board and hair blow dryers in the bathrooms. A couple of the chairs in the living room could use a cleaning but we just covered them with extra towels. The driveway is a little tricky when backing out so be careful. Would definitely stay again!

Great family vacation
We had a lovely stay in McCall. The house was just right for our group of six adults and four kid (ages 4 to 9). There is a nice selection of games and toys and the playhouse was a big hit. We made s’mores at the fire pit and found the kitchen well equipped for meal prep. The dining table is on the small side for a big group, but we made it work. The appliances are all new and everything is in working order. The deck is spacious with a nice gas grill and comfortable seating. We saw deer feeding in the woods below the deck. There is a great kid friendly beach 1 mile from the house. We went there every day. We enjoyed swimming, hiking and picnicking at Ponderosa State park and rented kayaks at the north shore concession in the park one day. Overall, a beautiful and relaxing experience. Thank you for creating such a warm and comfortable environment for our family to enjoy.
