About this house rental
Robinson Lake Front Lodge on Lake Jocassee
This cozy mountain lodge sleeps 10 and is located directly on Lake Jocassee. The house includes a dock with a newly extended ramp and tie up for boats. Lake Jocassee is located in the upstate of South Carolina in a pristine mountain environment. With its crystal clear water and huge depths the lake is perfect for swimming, boating, skiing, fishing, and any other water activities you can imagine. The mountains are also a great place for hiking. There are a number of great hikes within a short drive from the house.
Located in Salem, SC this mountain home is a truly peaceful place for a retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. Great places to visit while you are in town include Highlands, NC (45 min from the house) and Cashiers, NC (25 minutes from the house). Guests who will be flying in may want to consider airports in Greenville, SC (about 1.5 hours away), Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC (both about 2.5 hours away), or Ashville, NC (about 1.5 hours away).
The house was built in 1984 by Bill Robinson and his son Drew and has been in the family ever since. Each room has a different wood paneling. The main room is wormy chestnut, while the bedrooms are oak, pine, cypress, and ash. The house will sleep 10 in beds but there are also 3 comfortable sofas. No linens (sheets or towels) are provided. You will need to bring all the linens that you needs for your stay.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HOUSE HAS A 3 DAY MINIMUM FROM Labor Day THROUGH Memorial Day, AND A SEVEN DAY MINIMUM THAT MUST BE FROM SATURDAY TO SATURDAY FROM Memorial Day THROUGH Labor Day.
• The house is 2,800 square feet on three levels
• Central heat and air
• Four bedrooms with queen sized beds (new comfortable mattresses)
• Basement with 2 sofas and two single beds (great kid’s room)
• Three full baths
• Living room with fire place
• Fully equipped kitchen with dining room table
• Full deck (with gas grill)
• Open porch complete with a picnic table and furniture that are great for enjoying the spectacular view of the lake and surrounding mountains with no other homes in sight.
• The basement has a television with satellite TV and a VCR/DVD player for watching movies (in addition to a substantial selection of movies to choose from).
• Covered patio
• Fire pit out in the yard perfect for roasting smores.
• Washer/Dryer
• Cleaning service provided
• Covered patio with hammock.
The house has extremely limited internet service
Access to the Water:
The house is directly on the water. There is a floating dock with a ladder and full tie-up for boats. A new ramp was recently installed to allow continuous access to the water regardless of the water level. Floats or tubes for lounging in the water are great items to pack because the water is deep at the dock.
This is a great house for a boat. If you don’t bring your own they are available for rent. Pontoon boats are great for cruising the lakes, ski boats are great if you enjoy water sports, and kayaks and canoes are perfect for exploring nearby waterfalls and rivers that feed the lake. Maps and boat rentals are available at the store at Devils Fork (at the boat landing) or on their website. There are no gas pumps on the lake, so you must either take your boat out of the lake to gas it up, or you can bring your own gas containers that you can fill up and carry to your boat.

We always wonder where the time goes when staying at Robinson Lodge…I give my family (children and grandkids)
options to go other locations or other countries, and yet we continue to come back here year after year…It is my GIFT to my family.

We love Robinson Lodge and have come here since 2015. Everyone who comes with us loves it too. We can't wait to go back. Peace, quiet, relaxation every minute.

This was our second stay at the Robinson Lake Front Lodge. (It would have been the 3rd if it had been available when we wanted it last year.) There is nothing else quite like it. Peaceful, quiet, and serene lodging on the most charming lake in the southeast. I was there with my wife, our adult son and daughter-in-law, and other family members. The 800sf covered front and side porch with views of lake and mountains, cushioned porch swing, other comfortable lounging, small tables, and a large dining table is the centerpiece of this property. While there is a huge dining table inside, we ate every meal outside on the porch. We trekked in all the food and drink we needed for our 8-night stay as the closest store is a bit of a drive. Only using our cars occasionally to explore the area, or go for a hike. The large dock, with another porch swing, is also a great place to hang out. Go swimming, paddle boarding, or boating from the dock. The stairs down to the dock are rough and need improvement. The host, David, was very accessible and helpful. We spent a lot of quality time together and we all felt this was one of the best family vacations ever.

I don't know of a better water access view in South Carolina. Thanks David for a wonderful week and setting up our engagement at the cabin 33 years ago.

Our family had a wonderful family vacation at Lake Jocassee in the Robinson lodge. The porch and views are outstanding. Beautiful new dock was a treat and was used daily with our jet skis and rented boat. Got a good workout daily climbing the 55 stairs from the dock to the house but I need it. Only two things would have made it absolutely perfect - two jet ski ramps on the dock and a marina on the lake.

Throughly enjoyed our week! We had 6 adults and 5 kids and did not feel cramped. The porch and dock add a lot of living space. We brought our boat that we put in at devils Fork State Park and the park allowed us to leave our truck and trailer in their parking lot for the week. We will hopefully be back!

I believe this is the 3rd year we have stayed at this property! I gave my kids the option of coming to Lake Jocassee this year or a trip to Costa Rica...We stayed another year at Lake Jocassee. A unique lake and this house is just as unique.

Love this property but steps down to lake are in need of repair. I wouldn’t take an elderly person down steps in fear of them falling. This is my only concern about this property. We’ve stayed here for 2 yrs in a row and love everything else about the home. Hopefully they will install a safer set of stairs.

This was our 2nd stay at this property. Awesome as expected. You can’t beat the location and accommodations are great. Everyone had a fantastic time and want to make this an annual trip! Looking forward to our next stay!

The reason to rent the Robinson cabin is for the solitude and the view. But you are only 25 minutes from Cashiers. Most things in Cashiers don’t really open until ‘the season’ starts in May. We kayaked most everyday and the water was so calm. Lovely place.

You will not find a better lake side location. Outstanding property and a perfect getaway if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation. Our 2nd visit and we will return as soon as possible.

Porch Life
The house is great but all you really need is the porch. The views are amazing and endless! The dock is perfect. LTE service is spotty but you don’t need it-just enjoy being away.
Helpful Hint: lowest gear coming and going up the driveway 😊

The Lodge
Balance comes to mind when I think about our stay at this property. I like the woods and rustic trail down to the New boat dock. You don't think about going to a gym when you come up to the house from the dock two or three times a day. The house makes me think of a lodge with the multiple porches and great furniture to hang out on. That theme is followed on into the house with a fireplace that is huge and the three different floors that afford you a unique feel and use.
That is just the house! Being on Lake Jocassee is a experience all on it on. The house is privately located with the lake spreading out in a panoramic view from any location in the house or porches. Truly a great experience!

Quiet picturesque lake life
House is rustic but beautiful with a fantastic porch that we spent a lot of time on. Dock is perfect for swimming or relaxing. Bathrooms are basic but functional. Kitchen same. Overall exactly what we were looking for. Great for all age ranges. The stairs are somewhat precarious so elderly and young children should be watched or helped on them.

One of a kind
This property is a one of a kind in a superb remote location with world class views from the wraparound porch. It's well appointed and rustic at the same time. Get a boat delivered to the dock to enjoy the pristine lake. Host was very responsive and accommodating.

Blissful Front Porch
We stayed for a week in September and spent a lot of time on the large wrap around porch overlooking the nicest, clearest lake in the southeast. The lake is surrounded by pristine mountains with endless rivers, streams, and waterfalls dropping into the it. We swam in those waters everyday. So very beautiful and peaceful.

Great Getaway Weekend!
Loved staying at Robinson Lodge. It's a wonderful place to get away and enjoy the serenity of Lake Jocassee. It was the perfect place for a small group of friends to spend time swimming, boating, cooking and just enjoying each other's company outside on the wonderful porch and dock. Would love to go again!

Great Mountain House on Lake
Lake Jocassee is one of the most beautiful lakes you will ever see! The Robinson Lake Front Lodge was a perfect spot for our family to reconnect and unwind from the stress of daily life. We spent a good deal of time on the wrap around porch and also on the new dock. Wish we were still there!

My family was so impressed with the lake vacation at the Robinson Lodge. The wonderful house perched up over the lake, new dock,
and beautiful views from the decks made it a week to remember. We normally go to the beach for our family get togethers but I believe we will be back to Jocassee!! Thanks so much.

Family vacation
Had an exceptional time! This property was in a great location and pictures don’t due it justice. The house is very well appointed. The beds are extremely comfortable as was all the furniture. We loved the new addition of the hand rails down to the lake. Everyone didn’t want to leave after our week and were already planning on a return visit!

Perfect Escape
If you can't relax here, you just can't relax. A very well-built cabin that is an ideal retreat for those looking to "escape". Two of us stayed in the cabin for 5 days while fishing on Lake Jocassee and both the cabin and the fishing were great. The kitchen is very well appointed and the beds are quite comfortable. While the steps down to the dock are a bit steep and can be slippery, it's well worth the effort. The dock is brand new and a great spot to enjoy the beautiful view (as is the huge porch)! We will definitely be back.

Jocassee is a rare jewel among vacation places
We have enjoyed visiting lake Jocassee for the past 12 years. The lake delivers on it’s promise of a back to nature vacation every time. Little additions to your property like an ice machine and trash removal service would add a huge increase in satisfaction. For the first time, we were concerned about the upkeep of the property because of the disrepair of the dock and the house was not cleaned properly.
Thanks,
David King

Great get-away
We loved this house! It is even better than the pictures. It had plenty of space for everyone and having a second fridge downstairs was a bonus. The porch is the best part! We brought a boat but had engine troubles, so we spent a good bit of time swimming off the dock. The walk down to the dock could be tricky for some people, but definitely doable if you take your time!
