About this house rental
Your day at “Happy Kai,” starts with coffee and breakfast on the best beach around of course! Use our provided Keurig or drip coffee pot or walk across the street to Kaibo Beach Bar’s full coffee bar. They also have excellent croissants, breakfast sandwiches and full breakfast on the weekends.
When you are ready for your beach day, take 20 steps from the front door of Happy Kai and you are in the warm water of the Caribbean Sea. The closest house to the water in all of Gardens of the Kai, puts you closest to the soft sand, serene sunsets and peaceful lapping waves of the ocean. Happy Kai is an end unit which makes the beach very private. Beach chairs and side tables are plentiful - no need to reserve anything. The beach in front of the house also has several beautiful palm trees that provide a little shade.
1 paddleboard and 2 complimentary kayaks are included with your stay as well as complimentary snorkel gear, life jackets and a variety of sand toys for your use during your stay. The water of the North Sound is reef-protected, crystal clear and excellent for swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking.
A little walk up the beach (or a very short car ride with free parking) is Starfish Point, where you’ll discover Cayman's famous starfish. There’s also a picturesque white sand beach and beautiful palm trees to relax under for a while. For a more active beach experience, drive or walk about 1 mile to Rum Point and enjoy their huge selection of beach toys for rent, including jet skis, and a sunset sail that you shouldn’t miss. The beautiful beach-side restaurant and bar are perfect for a beach day that everyone will enjoy.
If you need a break from the sand, a large, communal freshwater pool with a sundeck and cabana is located on the property at Gardens of the Kai. Bring towels (included with your stay) and catch some sun on the newly remodeled pool deck.
You can also hop on the Cayman Ferry for a trip to Camana Bay. The neighborhood features excellent restaurants, shopping, a movie theater and grocery stores. Pro-Tip: There is a convenient walking bridge from Camana Bay to the world-famous Seven Mile Beach. It’s a beach to be experienced!
After a full day in the sun and sand, refresh in your suite before you enjoy cocktails at sunset on the beach. It’s hard to describe how beautiful the sunsets are, but you’ll enjoy trying to describe them to your friends after you see them.
For dinner, fire up the Charcoal grill for a beach barbeque or use the fully stocked kitchen to make a relaxing dinner at home. Cookware, dishware, glassware, and utensils are all included. On those nights that you’d rather not cook (or clean up!) head right across the street to the Kaibo Beach Bar for a “feet in sand” dinner under swaying palm trees. For an elevated dining experience, try Upstairs at Kaibo or simply swing by the Rum Bar for a very sophisticated cocktail. Rum Point is just a 5 minute drive and offers a very relaxed indoor dining experience. There are several other restaurants in the area including Over the Edge (10 min), Italian Kitchen (20 min), and the Westin Hotel on the East End (20 min). Pro-tip: Italian Kitchen will often deliver (depending on the season).
When it’s time to turn in for the night, each of the suites features king-sized beds, and relaxed, beach decor. The Master Suite is massive, featuring a luxury bath with separate sinks and sweeping views of the ocean. It also has a daybed for extra sleeping rooms. The 2nd upstairs suite has a King bed, a screened porch and a pair of twin bunk beds for the little ones. The first floor suite features a King bed, and double sinks in the en-suite bathroom.
We also provide a fresh drinking water cooler, water delivered in 5 gallon water jugs, a washer and dryer, and beach towels to save you some space in your luggage!

We booked this condo for our family of 6 adults, one teenager and one 5 year old. This home was PERFECT! Everything we could possibly need as far as utensils, toys, life jackets, kayak, etc. we had. Communication with Maureen was simple. Very easy process. This home is large with 3 large bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms which was a requirement for us so each family unit had their own. Off of one bedroom is a small area with built in bunk beds which work perfect for families. The North side is much more tranquil/away from the chaos of 7 mile beach! There is a restaurant/coffee shop/bar directly across the street that is open until 8 pm. There is also a pier there where you can catch the ferry over to 7 mile beach for ~$30/adult, ~$20/child round trip. You really need a vehicle if you plan to stay anywhere other than 7 mile area.
This home is about a 50 min drive from the airport, but never felt like it took that long to driver there. Rum Point is right down the road - you can catch several excursions there - we did Stingray City and snorkle through RedSail. Very easy process. Hard to find anything to complain about with this rental!
If I had to make a suggestion, I would add a lamp in the dining area by windows facing ocean. It would make it feel more homey than the recessed ceiling lighting. Not crucial, just a suggestion. I had groceries delivered from Fosters b4 arrival-they put cold items in fridge for me! Highly recommend this place!

This is a great place. Great location. Great facility, cooking items, and beach stuff. Highly recommend

The property has a great location. My only issue was with the 1990's outdated televisions. Unfortunately, there were a couple cooler nights, the television in the lower level was unwatchable and my guests told me the second bedroom television had a poor picture.

great house for two couples and kids. Seems small but well compartmentalized and organized. Unreal how close to the beach. Serenely quiet and peaceful. Kaibo is a nice restaurant which btw is right across the street, however, hope there were more establishments.

Our two families just returned from 10 days in this property. The location is quiet and everything we could ask for in a vacation rental. The house had plenty of room and was very well stocked. We had a couple of minor issues with the phone and AC which were dealt with quickly. The kids had the pool and many times the beach all to themselves. If you are looking to get away from the hustle of SMB then we highly recommend this place near Rum Point. It had the added bonus of a restaurant (Kaibo Yacht Club) directly across the street for those nights we didn't feel like cooking. We would definitely stay here again!! Thank you!

We’ve stayed many places in the Caymans and this is the best location and best house. Trade breezes, calm water, quiet. Perfect for a romantic get away or family vacation. The owners are friendly, responsive and easy going.
The house is large and beautiful w en-suite bathrooms to all three bedrooms. Fantastic beach views from every room and is right on the beach. Walk out the door and you are in the water in ten steps.
Watch your kids from the panoramic living room windows or go out and relax w them. There’s a beautiful pool on the property as well.
Near Kaibo Yacht Club and restaurant (a flip flops, outdoor beach restaurant downstairs and beautiful restaurant upstairs) for all daytime meals or spectacular sunset dinners and it’s just 100 yards away. Full kitchen and you can load up the fridge at the local markets.
We like to go see things wherever we go but we spent most of our time snorkeling, kayaking and relaxing on our own perfect beach.
You can walk to Starfish Point or the bioluminescence bay or head 5 minutes away to Rum Point and get any trip to anywhere you want to go.
Truly the place to let the weight of the world fall away. Relax in paradise and come home at ease wondering how soon you can go back.

We had such an amazing time on our vacation . The house was so beautiful. The pictures do not convey the crisp beachy feel. The house was immaculate and comfortably fit our family. Our morning coffee with the views we had was so relaxing and gorgeous. We loved being steps from the beach. The property manager Thelda was very helpful and was happy to answer any questions we had. We have an infant and when our flight home was changed to 6 hours later than scheduled, she saved the day by letting us stay a while longer in the house. The housekeeper Rose was so sweet as well.
We look forward to coming back to this property!

I vacationed here in April with my wife and two adult daughters. The house was absolutely beautiful. It was so much nicer and larger than I had thought. The pictures really do not do the house complete justice. The rooms were warm, comfortable beautifully decorated. My daughters each had their own rooms and bathrooms. So everyone could have their own privacy. The house was big enough to have fit 3 families. The master suite was just wonderful, more than I hoped for. Fantastic view from the room of the ocean. The beds were firm and comfortable. The furniture in the house was great. Dishes for any dinner you want to make. We barbequed one night. The house came stocked with everything you could have needed or wanted. Forget something, the house had it. The house faces the water. Nothing blocking our view. We walked right out the house had our coffee and took a few more steps and went in for a swim. The water was warm and very inviting. We used the Kayaks and went around the bay, wonderful. The rum point area is so quiet and peaceful. We would go out for the day and come back to relax in serenity. There were a quite a few other houses there, but we rarely saw anyone, and when we did everyone was very pleasant. Kaibo Beach Bar was a walk across the street. Very nice and wonderful service. Rum Point beach and Restaurant was a mile up the road. Fun snorkeling. The restaurant was beyond fantastic. You have to eat there at least once. I would Highly recommend this house and Definitely stay here again. Absolutely Beautiful.

Beautiful, quiet and relaxing. Took the family and everyone loved it. The drive to the house was the perfect distance away from the "tourist" side of the island which allowed us to enjoy the island without the hassle of thousands of people overcrowding an area. We had plenty of things planned out for the kids and they loved it. Highly recommend for your next vacation. The photos do no justice on how beautiful the home or the beach area is.

The online photos of this unit created high expectations but I know from past experience that such photos are not always an accurate portrayal of the property. Such was not the case this time. If anything, the photos did not capture the beauty of this unit. Nestled a mere 40 feet from the water, it had spectacular ocean views from each room. It is also located in the low density area of the island and accordingly not more than a dozen or so people walked across "our" beach the entire week. The three bedrooms were perfect for your family of 4 and allowed everyone any necessary private time.
The washer/dryer will also affect how we pack for our next trip. No need to take more than a couple days clothing.
Another plus was the presence of Kaibo Beach Bar and Restaurant directly across the street. The beach bar was perfect for lunch or an afternoon cocktail. It also offered a once weekly BBQ and band. The much more formal upstairs restaurant has the feel of a Havana nightspot. Food and service were top notch and the atmosphere was incredible.
Do not book here if you are looking for the fast lane. If you want that, head to Seven Mile Beach. But if you are looking for a quiet, secluded get away - this is your place. You WILL need to rent a car if you are going to stay here. It is about 45 minutes from the airport.

This beach home was perfect for our family. This home has a comfortable and well appointed living area that includes two living areas, the dining area and kitchen. And, it has 3 spacious suites that allow family members complete privacy. For a Midwesterner, it was heavenly to step right out on the beach, just steps from the water. It is just across the street from casual and more upscale dining, and so many of the fun things to do on the island. When I visit the island again, I will want to stay here again.

This house is accurately described & shown in the VRBO photos, except for one thing: There is no way to describe the peace that comes over us when we are at Gardens of the Kai. The immaculate house sits 20 steps from the calm cove. Palm trees provide shade, the breeze blows gently, & it is heaven on earth! There are 16 homes on this cove & beach, & even though we didn't see the inside of the others, we feel that we got the best, for location & the way the house is set up. While we were on the island, we looked at other places we had considered & we would choose this home & Gardens of the Kai over any of them hands down. The owner was prompt & very helpful as we were preparing for our trip. The resort management staff was also prompt when we called them while on the island (a couple of issues that turned out to be us not understanding how things work--no problems w/the house). While on the beach, we saw hermit crabs, & early in the morning larger orange crabs. We walked a few steps into the water to see beautiful large, red starfish. You can snorkel right there & see them further out as well. The house is tastefully but casually decorated in Cayman/Island theme, & every chair & bed was very comfortable! The house was also very convenient to Kaibo Beach Club, where we had excellent lunch, & one evening, an elegant dinner upstairs. We also left from Kaibo for a private Stingray Sandbar & Snorkeling charter w/Ocean Frontiers (cheaper than some w/lots of people & no personal service), as well as a Bioluminescent Bay Tour with Sweet Spot (the next cove over from ours). It's a 2-minute drive to Rum Point for many more activities. Our favs: Cemetery Beach just west of 7-mile beach for snorkeling (while the guys were diving the wreck of the Kittiwake), Kaibo Beach Bar & Grill, Rankins Jerk Chicken on the west end of Boddentown, & Vivene's Kitchen on the East End.
We don't usually return to the same place as we love to explore new areas, but now we have a dream to return with our grown children! If I could give this home 10 stars, I would!
