About this apartment rental
Freshwater Bay is one of the best kept secrets on the island. Your journey begins when you take that turn off of the Might Gryner Highway onto a private road. Seemingly in an industrial area you start to wonder if you have made the right decision booking this apartment. As you round the first corner, there is a small fishing village with men attending to their boats and roaming chickens casually going about their daily routine. As your concerns heighten about this location, Freshwater Bay sign emerges on your left. Upon opening the lattice gate to the facility your breath is immediately taken away by the beauty of this place. The vibrant colourful flowers and tropical fauna that line the small pathway towards the lush gardens sprinkled with coconut trees welcome you in. Meandering down the short pathway the beauty of the stunning calm ocean boasts of hundreds of shades of blue is just steps away. Now emerged in the tropical garden you are enticed to sit under the shaded palm trees to read, slip into the loungers and sun bath or sit in the Gazebo and watch the cruise ships or the local fishing and sail boats pass lazily by. However before you get lost in just what to do first you have to get settled.
#5 is on the ground floor and opens into a large lounge area with a bar and small fridge ideal for entertaining. In addition there are two couches one of which serves as a pull out couch. This flows onto the enclosed patio and extended sun bathing deck, all ocean facing to enjoy the views from every angle. Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen which is fully outfitted with a stove, fridge, microwave and various cooking utensils. Down the short corridor is the first bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. This room has two single beds and A/C unit with good cupboard space. Of course you really only need bathing suits at Freshwater Bay. At the end of the corridor is a Jack and Jill bathroom with a shower that also is used by the large master bedroom that has an A/C unit and ample cupboards. The master has a large California king size bed. The third bedroom is entered through the master and also has it’s own shower and bathroom. In addition, this room has it’s private entrance to the car park. Also being outfitted with A/C, cupboards and a double bed.
So now you are all settled into your new home, we invite you to relax and start your adventure. Walk north along the pristine beach and have a swim in the calm ocean or visit the new Cabana Bar. Walk south pass the local fishing village and this would take you as far as the outer parameters of Bridgetown. Upon this walk you would encounter the local Hot Pot just outside the Light and Power plant, stop and enjoy a dip in this warm water enjoyed by many locals. If you are around for Thursday night, visit Bush Bar next door for the local brew and great tunes of Karoke night!
#5 is Home away from Home so come and enjoy and live like a Bajan.

Little piece of paradise
Thank you Lisa for letting us stay in your wonderful apartment. The unit was very clean and the kitchen was stocked with what we needed. The beds were super comfortable. It was definitely roomy enough with enough furniture to accommodate the number of people who can stay. The view was great and there is a long almost private sandy beach to enjoy. If you like to live with the locals this is the right spot for you. While it is gated, It’s right beside where the fishermen take their catch, so fresh fish that they clean is available pretty much daily. There is a wonderful little bar-the bush bar that served up very reasonable eats and great entertainment. We felt perfectly safe and the locals are the kindest we have met on our travels. While they walked by, we were never hassled to purchase anything like many places we have been. Just smiles, a wave, a hello, and asking about your day. The atmosphere created from the owners and guests are a sense of a positive community where you can choose to engage or not the engage. The staff are amazing and friendly. As previously mentioned In other reviews, there is a power plant close by, but the beach is still gorgeous in front of the plant as it is on the other side of the apartments. We will return if all goes well!

Wonderful and great location.
Our stay was wonderful and we loved the property. It offered us everything we needed. It is in a great location and is a short drive to most locations on the island. The best feature was being right on the beach! Such an amazing beachfront location.

Friendly and quiet oasis off the beaten path
Our first impression when entering Freshwater Bay was not a great one with the very large Light and Power plant (even though we knew it was there, it had a far greater presence than we anticipated.) However, once we were inside the Freshwater "compound," we found it to be very lovely. The beach was beautiful, as were the gardens. It was very relaxing. Our unit was spacious and clean. The kitchen was well equipped.
From the very beginning, Lisa was welcoming and very helpful with information, answering all our questions very quickly. We found the neighbours to be very friendly and kind. The housekeeper, Nicky was very welcoming and enthusiastic as was Judy, the property manager. We bought fish (barracuda) just next door at the fish market.
Ours sons, 22 and 19, did find the location more remote than they had hoped for wanting more people around and "action" (bars and restaurants) closer to us. We did many different activities, as there is much to do in Barbados, and had a wonderful week!

Private beach
Very convenient location on a private gorgeous beach. Large condo, with 3 bathrooms and showers. Well-equipped kitchen with good quality pots and pans and tons of utensils. Nice and well-maintained garden with beautiful flowers. You can admire the beautiful sunset while the fish is cooking on the BBQ, then eat it in the gazebo. The master bathroom is a bit dated. There were a few plumbing issues (shower head and kitchen sink pipe leaking, burning hot water leaking from the hot water knob). We called Lisa and she or her son (or both) would show up to fix things.
There was surprisingly a large number of mosquitoes which made eating in the back patio unpleasant at times. I asked for a floor fan and Lisa brought me one right away that she purchased.
We would like to return to this condo eventually but will probably try to go during another season to avoid mosquitoes.

Ninja throw down visit to Barbados
The accommodations are nicely appointed, the kitchen especially, it is a beautiful little oasis, although you are immediately next too the electric plant with big barges coming in and staying for a few days right in front of our villa so the view to the right is poor but to the left is very beautiful.. Needed a little maintenance shower backed up and no light in bathroom but easy enough to deal with.

Beautiful location, perfect accomodations
We loved our stay at Tidewater apartments! Our place was perfect and immaculate when we arrived. We were greeted with lots of information and a welcome card when we arrived. Anything you could need was in the kitchen- just bring your own food! The beach is 20 seconds from the porch and is beautiful. I found lots of sea glass and while snorkeling, we saw turtles, loys of fish and a moray eel! You can sometimes see turtles coming up for air just a few yards from shore. Don’t wait- book this place!

Secret Gem and empty beach
We were greeted by Nicky when we arrived. She wanted to make sure we knew how to find everything. I have alot of trouble sleeping, and the bed was FANTASTIC! The best rest we've had in a long time. Chris drove an hour out of his way to help us when the safe malfunctioned. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I didn't give a full five star due to some plumbing issues, but no harm, everything was wonderful and fine.
Thank you for letting us rent your property.
Sincerely,
Diane

Wonderful family christmas
We have just returned from here after having the best time.
The apartment provided everything we expected and more. It was spotlessly clean, must larger than the photos portray with a very well equipped kitchen, lots of clean towels, plenty of wardrobe space - a real home from home.
The gardens were stunning, beautiful flowers immaculately maintained by Carl the friendly gardener.
Waking up to the most idyllic view over the bay and ocean ever day was amazing. Sitting with a early morning coffee, watching the fishing boats coming in with their catch while walkers and joggers pass, everyone wishing us a good morning greeting as they went by.
To the left of the apartments there is the power plant and where the local fishing boats pull in - when you first arrive this view appears scruffy, but it didn’t take us long to realise that this was the real Bajan life we were seeing and joining in. Often we helped bring in the boats, were invited the eat the fresh catch and sample the rum with the very friendly local people. The Bajans were so polite, friendly and welcoming to our family. The other guests at freshwater bay apartment were also friendly and interesting to spend time with too.
Freshwater bay is only a 5 minute walk up to Black Rock where we would regularly visit the large supermarket, local restaurants and catch the local buses in both directions either to the west coast, Bridgetown or Oistins.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Lisa and Chris for allowing us to use their wonderful place and for promptly answering any questions we had. We hope to come back to your paradise soon.

Best beach in Barbados!
The owners description of this place is bang on! The unit is very large with a great patio looking out at the ocean. The property is beautifully manicured with loads of chairs. We are walking distance to buses, restaurants, as well as a huge grocery store.
I've been to Barbados many times but this beach is easily the best I've ever been on. 4-5 kilometers of white sand with outstanding swimming. You are a 20 minute bus ride to Holetown; a 10 minute ride to Bridgetown, and a 30-40 minute ride to Oistins and St Lawrence Gap..
The owners are very responsive and helpful as well.
