Location is awesome, house is large and virtually original, grounds and gardens are very nice. For 2 couples the house and arrangements were just fine. House could use some maintenance, some lights not working, fresh paint and minor repairs. Likely Due to age house had a musty odor. Most furnishings are antiques and very special. Comfortable as well. We had very hot days and more substantial fans or ceiling fans would have made a big difference for comfort. Overall cannot beat location and easy to deal with manager. House was well priced but I would not categorize it as luxury for reasons noted.

Your jaw will drop when you enter. So beautiful. House manager (upon arrival and as needed), housekeeper (3x per week), and gardener (2x per week) were all great. We loved the home and the location and hope to return. Read the description of bathrooms carefully — our guests in the garden room used the half-bath in the garden and the full bath in the zaguán room, which was fortunately unoccupied and in any case would have a lot of street noise.

This gem of a home right in the center of Antigua, is close to many restaurants, beautiful colonial buildings and the stunning La Merced Church. It is also extremely quiet with a gorgeous main garden and two small ones. The beds were comfortable and there was excellent water pressure.
House manager, Elma was wonderful as were Clara, the part-time housekeeper, and Felipe, the gardener.

Great house and location. There was plenty of room for our family of four. The grounds are beautiful. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Antigua.

We booked this house in early summer for a December stay, so we had a long time to dream about it. It was everything we had hoped for. A special benefit was that, although we planned the trip for only 4 family members, because that left us with an extra room in the house, our son also came down for the first weekend.
Location, location! It is on a busy street, but not very noisy, it is a refuge. Being a couple blocks from the Parque Central was a real benefit, there's always something going on there and around there.
It is very clean, it was a delight having Clara come to clean and she also did some laundry for us.
We admired the photos showing the fires in the fireplaces, but when we arrived it didn't seem likely for us, since the weather was too mild. Then after a few days, the weather turned cooler and we spent a couple lovely evenings in the sala with a warm fire, playing games and watching NCAA Women's volleyball playoffs.

Gorgeous old hacienda style home, just two blocks from the main plaza. It felt like visiting g someone at their home. It’s a very old house, so don’t expect modern but it has everything and the gardens are just beautiful

This is our second time staying with Roberta and we can't wait to come back next year. Everyone is extremely accommodating. helpful, kind, friendly, and they go above and beyond. The property is amazing. Location is perfect and close to everything. We love the authenticity of the house. It has so much character. This is truly a home away from home for us. The city lost power during our stay this time and Roberta and Elma went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. This is my most favorite VRBO I've ever stayed in. I highly recommend for its safety, location, and feeling of having your own home. We are already planning our next trip back.

Our family had a wonderful time at this beautiful home that is spacious, comfortable, and perfectly located near the city center. The host was friendly and welcoming, and the house service was great. Highly recommend!

The house was an old colonial property, beautiful gardens, with a view of Fuego, the active volcano. There are many shops and good restaurants close by. Sergio, recommended by the owner, was an excellent chauffeur, and took us to sights outside the city.

Absolutely Beautiful!
I can’t tell you how much this trip meant to my family, especially my daughter, who was born in Guatemala. This was our first trip back after I adopted her, 17 years ago. Your home is an oasis. We will be back next year! The rest of my family was jealous so we’re bringing them too! Thank you again, Bobbi, for allowing us to stay in your lovely home. See you next summer!

Perfect house in Antigua
The house has the perfect location in Antigua to attend the Semana Santa festivities. Awesome views of the agua volcano on the perfectly manicured inside garden. Elma (house manager) was always available and made the process seem less.
House was clean and Clarita (housekeeper) did an excellent job cleaning as well.

Heart of Antigua and it classic style
Truly and amazing old open air property with all the charms and feel of classic architecture. The location was outstanding.
It was a value as it’s an old home which is why it retains so much of its authenticity. Had the necessities of Wi-Fi and even a TV with Apple TV attached. Elma, the manager was SUPER responsive and always helped when we needed something.
Would rent again!

Pleasant stay
Location is prominent with this house close to everything. I was met by the manager Elma's ,husband Walter at the airport , very nice and humorous man. Elma was always prompt returning my emails and provided valuable information about the needed COVID test . Erik comes to the home and gives you the test ,and the results are known in 10 minutes , great price and quick . Clara the maid, Felipe the gardener great people ,and stay out of your way. Sergio the chauffer .has an partner Raul, that did all the driving for us for our stay. Raul is an classy man ,you'll get a safe and great ride.
The garden of this house is amazing, very peaceful. If I could make an suggestions to the owners. Standing fans in all the rooms, would be great . They would provide fresh air and keep the mosquitos away while sleeping. Also we love cooking on vacation, some larger pots to cook in , as well as some cooking utensils, are sorely needed . thanks for opening your home to us

Antiques in Antigua
The home is incredibly curated with a wonderful selection of antiques and furnishings. The home was spacious with ample space for our entire family of 6 adults and 1 child that stayed here. We spend most of our time in the central courtyard with its fountain. The location is ideal as a base for exploring Antigua. While it is on one of the main roads, it was very peaceful and quiet. We rarely heard or were bothered by nose in the streets during our stay. We would stay in this home again and can highly recommend it to families traveling.

A truly "home away from home"
What can I say?.... This house in Antigua truly became “our home away from home.” Everything the owner said in the VRBO information about this house in Antigua is perfect. It was EVERYTHING a person or family or group could ask for… everything works well… the lights, the water heater, the stove, the refrigerator, the washing machine, the house telephone, the fountain, and more... the inner garden, the rooftop and its magnificent view of the volcano, and the able staff: the house manager - very kind, professional and able. WOW! … the house is the best! -- I can say this without a doubt since I have been going to Guatemala and to to Antigua for over 15 years. I'd like to highlight a few things (and there are many) that are so special to us: the garden, the fountain, and, of course, the hot water, the wifi, the rooftop, the plants and flowers, and the location --- its perfect!!! My friends who visited us (from the city) were so impressed - they are even interested in renting in the future. Again, what can I say --- it's a beautiful house with a perfect location. I hope that if I have a need in the future to stay longer again in Antigua that I will be able to return to Casa Chicap which became “our home” for 6 weeks.
Thank you!

Perfect Location for this great House in the heart of Antigua
Location is perfect. Beautiful historical house in Antigua, everything you might need and expect, you got it. The Living rooms were spacious and allowed for great fun. Every room has a fireplace which we used every night. Staff was great supplying everything we needed.
100% recommended!!

Lovely colonial home in the very heart of Antigua
We lived in Antigua many years ago, in the sort of colonial homes that make this place a World Heritage site. So we were amazed and delighted to be able to stay in this wonderfully kept, strategically modernized, and extremely charming colonial residence right on the main street coming into town, just two blocks from the central park. This is the atmosphere that many hotels are trying to recreate, but here it's real. In true colonial style, the house is built around a large and beautiful garden, with a fountain in the middle. Every room - the large living-dining room, the (4) bedrooms, the kitchen, the library - is spacious, inviting, and comfortable, with furnishings and decoration that reflect the history of the house and the local culture. At the same time, there are key modern features, including an Apple TV, reliable internet (on which this review is written), a printer, a microwave, an excellent gas stove, and a new refrigerator-freezer. Elma, the property manager, greeted us on our arrival and with pride showed us all around the house; we called her a few times with questions and she was always immediately responsive and friendly. Housekeepers come every few days to clean, do laundry, and neaten up; and the gardener comes each week to keep the abundant garden of tropical plants at its best. Antigua has much to see and do, and an huge assortment of restaurants; but there were days when we were happy to just sit among the colonial columns of the corredor that connects the rooms and borders the garden, soak in the peace and beauty of the house, and make dinner at home. All in all, a lovely experience for those who want to enjoy Antigua as it was.

Mostly perfect!
Amazingly beautiful garden courtyard greets you upon entrance. Rooms were lovely, though the small bedroom was extremely noisy (and too small). Some lightbulbs should be higher wattage for easier reading. Elma the manager, the cleaning help and the gardener outdid themselves with service. Oh and good value with great location!

Second Trip to Casa Chicap
We stayed at Casa Chicap for a family trip in 2017. When we decided to return to Antigua there was no question that we would stay there again. It's hard to imagine a better location in Antigua. In one direction you have Y Tu Piña Tambien, Café No Sé, Café Sky, and Iglesia de San Francisco. In another you have the Parque Central, the arch, and too many great restaurants and cafes to list (Fridas and the rooftop terrace at Antigua Brewing Co. are 2 of our favorites). The house is incredibly welcoming. Because of our previous time here it really felt like coming home. Elma is very nice. She arranged transport to and from the airport. The staff at the house are warm and helpful. Patricia even put a vase of flowers with a sweet note for my wife's birthday. These little touches made an already wonderful stay special. We hope very much to return many times in the years to come.

Such a sweet spot!
We were in awe when we arrived and saw we had this beautiful, large place as our own for a week! So spacious and old-colonial with a fantastic veranda for sunny morning coffee, and lots of nooks and spaces to enjoy. It's like another world from the hectic streets of Antigua, and a very quick walk to the central square. Great location!
The owners rep Elma was gracious and helpful from the outset and spoke great English which was helpful upon arrival. And the staff that came during our week were very considerate and friendly. The owner was wonderful to work (great communication) with and helped us with a schedule issue-The beds were comfy, the house was clean, and the gardens tended. We wished the courtyard fountain had been running-hopefully just a short term issue- that would have been icing on the cake! Would definitely stay again!

Casa Chicap
Casa Chicap is a lovely home. It is very comfortably furnished with room for our family of seven. The location is ideal, within walking distance of the city center, and the bakery is just around the corner. The owner Bobbie, her house manager Elma, all staff and driver Sergio we're delightful people. They were responsive and very helpful. We will be back, thank you.

Antigua Treasure
Like travelling back in time, or living in a museum, but with modern amenities! Great location and views! Simply, the best! A fireplace in every room to ward off the chill of mountain nights in what we from the USA would "winter" months.

Charming, convenient, and affordable
Casa Chicap was our home for a wonderful three week stay in June. The home is clean, well decorated, and much larger than it appears in the photos. The gardens are decently cared for and the cleaning service (which I didn't think we would need) was a real gift (things get dirty quickly in homes with this open/courtyard style configuration). We still miss the calming fountain in the courtyard! The view from the garden and the rooftop is spectacular. The location of the home can not be beat; you count on one hand the minutes it takes to walk to Parque Central, El Arco, Dona Luisa's for banana bread each morning, and dozens of other local eateries and attractions. When the hot water went out one morning, Irma had a plan to fix it in no time. We were well taken care of by Irma and by the owner, Bobbie!. Finally, the home is perfect for a family as there are three large bedrooms (spaced apart for privacy) and easy to return to for peace and quiet after short excursions with kids. There is no way that you could find Casa Chicap's privacy and space at a local hotel -- especially for the price. We have already recommended it to friends in Guatemala and in the US. Don't think twice about it -- book Casa Chicap!

Rent this comfy home for its convenient location to restaurants, tourist sites and main plaza.
We brought two couples who’d never been to Antigua. From the moment we walked through the door of Casa Chicap, we unanimously agreed that the cool porches, gurgling fountain, comfy sala, and authenticity of this place would assure us we were in a colonial city in ways that tiny trendy rooms could not. We enjoyed the quiet and privacy of coffee in the morning on the porch after restful sleep in comfy beds and private rooms with baths. Nearby bakeries provided our breakfasts and we enjoyed restaurants (like Epicure) around the corner or nearby The Mediterranean. Fifth Avenue was about three blocks away or so for my friends to shop. The Choco shop as well as that bakery was in the same block as our house. We have already recommended it to other friends who frequently visit Antigua.
We plan to stay here again when we bring other friends to discover the welcoming ambience at Casa Chicap— from owner to house staff, as well as the more than reasonable per night fee, makes Casa Chicap our home away from home in Antigua.

Restful Historical Haven
Chicap has been a wonderful home for us this week, exceeding all expectations. Location is perfect for walking and exploring this bustling town. Resting among these beautiful furnishings and garden has made for a perfect vacation. There are many gathering places in the home but also many places for solitutude. Morning coffee in the large center atrium was a family favorite as we plannned our day. We had easy access to many great restaurants but cooking at home and nights by the fireplace was a wonderful option. All questions, concerns and procedures of the home were communicated easily. My 86 year old mother was unable to get out and explore Antiqua as much as she has in the past, but staying home was almost just as enjoyable!

A wonderful stay!
My husband and I rented the house for three weeks and we had a wonderful experience. The location of the house is absolutely great and it is easy to walk everywhere. There are very good restaurants around. The house is spacious and comfortable. The staff (cleaners and gardener) are great and very pleasant. In addition, Netflix is provided which was very appreciated since we are very much 'home body' in the evenings. The owner was very pleasant to deal with. Our only regret was that we could not rent the house for next year as it was already booked. We hope to be able to go back at some point as it was just the perfect fit for us.

Gorgeous home, peaceful courtyard and garden, central location and considerate staff!
My second opportunity to stay in these beautiful surroundings proved to be as wonderful as I remembered. The house is spacious and comfortable and the inviting courtyard, fountain and garden provide a volcano view. The location of the property is ideal and the house offered opportunities to relax and enjoy life in Antigua. I will look forward to returning!

Relaxing oasis in the heart of Antigua
It was an absolute pleasure to stay at Casa Chicap. We still just feel so grateful. My family stayed at the house for a week for my sister's wedding and it was the most perfect, not to mention massive, home-away-from-home. The pictures are pretty and the map is helpful, but you do not realize just how gorgeous the house is and how centrally located it is until you arrive. We spent our days drinking coffee on the terrace or in the courtyard, walking around town, etc. and our evenings around the fireplace playing games. We were able to walk anywhere in the city we wanted to go, because of just how central this house is located (2 blocks from the central park). Many of the other wedding guests had to take tuk-tuks or taxis to and from their houses because they were either far away or in a more dangerous part of the town, whereas we could walk EVERYWHERE. I would not only recommend trying to book this house for your stay, but would recommend planning your trip specifically around the availability of this house. It really was perfect. Not to mention how sweet and helpful Irma (property manager), Clara (housekeeper), Miguel (house maintenance manager), and Bobbie (owner) were. They were so kind to us both before and during our trip. We are so grateful for such a refreshing and joy-filled space, during the sweet time leading up to my sister's wedding.

Casa Chicap is a Treasure!
Our stay at Casa Chicap was magical. The pictures on the listing were beautiful, but it wasn't until I walked into the courtyard the first day that I realized what a gem we had found. There are wonderful restaurants, cafes and bakeries in the surrounding area. Everything is walkable and the location of the house can't be beat. We hope to return sooner than later!
Thank you!

Sabbatical in paradise
We spent 3. 5 weeks at the house and had an unbelievable time from start to finish. Bobbie made sure information was available for every step of the way and from helping us arrange transport from the airport to the house to fine tuning needs while we were there - she was an unbelievable host from afar and Irma (realtor) helped with details on the fly. The house is crazy great - we have 3 kids -they all decided to stay in one room for most of the trip. The front room which is close to the road is a little noisy but we were blessed by some road construction in front of the house for 2 weeks - so there was limited traffic. The location was awesome for us - just 4 blocks from our the Christian Spanish Academy (which is an awesome language school) and 2 blocks from the square - easy to get anywhere (including market, coffee shops, restaurants and supermarket). Kitchen and bathrooms were great. Lemon tree was to die for (fresh juice) and the bananas were unbelievable. We used Old Town Outfitters routinely (with reference by Bobbie) - if you ride bikes - bring some clothes/shoes and prepare for great mountain biking. Miguel, Clara and Patrice were highlights of our stay - the kids loved working with Miguel and Clara and Patrice do a great job cleaning everything. Not enough time or space to include how great and peaceful this trip was for our family. Thanks to Bobbie! we hope to return soon! B.A.N.G.O. Jarman

Charming home away from home
This house is in the center of the city with easy access to all parts of Antigua.
The large living room has WiFi and Apple TV, so if one wants to be connected to the world, it is easy to do so. There is plenty of room to either all be together or to find a place to be apart from the crowd. My husband and I and our two adult sons cooked in a few nights in the fully furnished kitchen, and we loved sitting in the courtyard listening to the birds playing around the fountain.
The housekeeper and gardener were great and worked around us when we were home.
Bobbie, the owner, is a dear friend of ours, and she has encouraged us to visit Antigua now for many years. We felt so welcome in her home away from home, and we absolutely loved roaming around Antigua. We'll be back!
