I looooved the blue house. It was so pretty and the views of the river was so relaxing. We ate outside next to the river one time. I could sit outside for hours just watching the birds and duck. The location was perfectos. Lots to do and see. I would definitely stay there again.

Room with a view!
What a wonderful weekend we spent in western mass at the Blue House! A quiet and beautifully restored home by a bend in the river gave us just the weekend we needed to celebrate a birthday and see great music at nearby Tanglewood! The living room picture window looks directly out on the river and the outdoor seating areas made for a great place to sit, eat and reflect. The communication with the hosts was fantastic and they were quick to answer any questions we had about the house and the area. Can’t wait to come back!

Breathtaking views and perfect home
We stayed at the Blue House during our visit to the Berkshires. The location was simply perfect. We were able to explore all the restaurants, hikes and museums within a short drive. Our favorite part was the river behind the home. While not safe to swim, it provides an amazing setting for a very relaxing vacation. We spent hours observing the ducks, beavers, storks, fireflies and birds while lounging in the background. The house was very clean and well stocked. Communication with the host was also great. We highly recommend this property!

Super cute house in Stockbridge!
We had a wonderful time here while visiting our son at school in Salisbury CT. The house is on a beautiful bend on the Housatonic River. It's super close to Great Barrington for shopping and restaurants. The house was perfect for a family of four, we loved sitting at the big picture window, or at the small terrace down by the river. Everything in the house worked really well we would definitely come back again! The hosts are great very responsive and gave us some great recommendations for things to do in the area.

Charming and lovely!
We had a wonderful time staying at this charming home. The property is right on the river, and we enjoyed the views all day long, from inside and out. The house is clean, cozy, and well-stocked. The beds area super cozy too!

Enchantment by the river
The house photos are very accurate. We were delighted with our stay. Did most of our eating at "home" and the kitchen and dining room were well appointed. The beds were comfortable. We loved the use of color and art throughout. Life by the river is fantastic.

Hidden Gem
Twisting down country roads in Stockbridge MA, tucked away on a quiet road sits one sweet house that brings river life into your new world. Views from inside the very smartly decorated home draw you to the river with bird sounds welcoming you. Outside there is a spellbinding river terrace where you can escape the cares of the world. Come and behold peace.

Comfy and cozy
The Blue House was the perfect place to spend our winter get-away-and-do-nothing weekend. The beautiful wintry river scene out the big window was wonderful, especially after we got a few inches of fresh snow. Hope we can be back next winter, if not before. Thanks.

A repeat favorite of ours
This was our 3rd Christmastime stay in this cozy little place. The river flowing by the magnificent picture window in the living room is the thing that really catches your attention, but the comfort and hominess of this place are just what the doctor ordered if you've had a hectic fall and just want to unwind for a bit. Clean, well provisioned - really no complaints. Now we have to come back in warm weather so we can enjoy the sun porch!

Charming house, great location, easy breezy getaway
We just got back from a 3 day/3 night visit and highly recommend this house for a getaway! The house was cozy and clean, it was close to multiple towns, many hikes, or just nice to be at to watch the bird life in the river. Great choice!

Cozy and beautiful
The view out the giant picture window, with the Housatonic flowing by, is worth the trip alone. The house is cozy & super comfortable, especially when it's snowy & 5 degrees outside. We just curled up with books & coffee & enjoyed not having to be anywhere. Nearby Great Barrington has lots of good food options.

Bravo, Blue House on the Bend
Strategically set near the banks of The Housatonic River this house brings the quiet country setting inside. Smart furnishings with ample household accoutrements complete the experience. Blue House is close to all Berkshire activities.
Sit back watch the songbirds, Herons and hawks flit and swoop about the river.
At night, the rippling river sounds soothes one to sleep. In an instant.
Delightful owner.

Lovely MDW at the Little Blue House on the Bend!
We had a lovely Memorial Day Weekend at the Little Blue House on the Housatonic. Even though the weather was crummy, the view from the living room was worth the trip. It was quiet and relaxing and the indoor porch provided fresh air and views while keeping us dry. The house had old fashioned charm like original wood work, but modern amenities, great, hot shower, comfortable beds, etc.
We didn't do much exploring, but went for a couple of runs and into town for fresh food and great croissants and delicious soup from Berkshire Mountain Bakery.
This house provides a perfect escape for a couple, small family or a group of a few close friends. I'd definitely rent it again!

Cozy & beautiful in the Berkshires
Mary was so nice and easy to communicate with and we had an easy check in/out and such a relaxing stay. I loved all the attention to detail throughout the house and the view of the river and there are plenty of cozy places to sit. We enjoyed that the kitchen was stocked well and had many spices (although we did not do much cooking as we were visiting relatives in town.) Our bed & bedding was extremely comfortable and the house heated up quickly when the temperature outside dropped. All aspects of the house were very clean and having linens and towels is always a nice experience . We would definitely stay at the Blue House again and hopefully for longer next time!

Lovely in winter, too (simplicity & comfort)
My husband and 15-year old son and I stayed at the little blue house on the river bend in late November for 5 nights. We got some unexpected snow (8-10 inches). Snow shoeing at a farm was about 15-20 min away but we were too lazy this time around. The house was inviting--plenty warm, cozy, and what a view of the snow-filled trees and the river. It was a pleasure to be "snowed in". House is actually roomier than appears in the photos.
The location is very convenient--most things of interest seemed to be no more than about 15 minutes away (villages of Great Barrington, Stockbridge, Monument Mountain for local hiking, etc.). The fabulous Berkshire Bakery is just a few minutes away (they make their own gluten free pizza crust). Very quiet and peaceful setting. We all slept really well. House was very clean and well stocked with all that we needed for our stay. We cooked in some nights and it was a breeze. My husband appreciated the hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Mary was a delight to work with. If you are a couple, or small group, looking for simplicity, comfort, peace and quiet--and something well located and with a great view--then this is your place.

A dream vacation for nature lovers
We had a dream week at the Blue House on the Bend. If you are seeking a peaceful place abounding in natural beauty, yet near enough to restaurants and the cultural activities the Berkshires have to offer, this is it. We came in early fall so the leaves were just beginning to change. The house was easily warmed and cozy for the chill fall nights. It has been fully modernized, is comfortably and attractively furnished, has a lovely efficient and well-furnished kitchen, and a huge picture window in the living room taking in stunning views of the river and surrounding hills and woods. There is lots of natural light throughout. The master bedroom on the main floor has casement windows that open to the sound of the river flowing by. We were lucky enough to spot a bald eagle who regularly sat on a perch high up in the trees. We also enjoyed two restaurants very close by. Pleasant & Main has truly delicious and reasonably priced food. Dinners in the evening are especially good. The Housey Cafe is a breakfast and luncheon cafe, with delicious sandwiches and soups. Then there is the Berkshire Mountain Bakery with its yummy choices. One could eat very well in this tiny town of Housatonic without venturing further. All in all this is the perfect respite for those needing a break from the hectic city, and for anyone who simply loves the beauty and peace the natural world can offer. We loved spending time in this endearing early American house in its lovely setting.

Little Dream House in the Berkshires
The house is warm and welcoming. My friend and I spent two weeks here ending on Labor Day. Clean and refurbished, with nice details like picture windows with views of the Housatonic River; comfortable couch, seating, beds; some lovely decorative details; good working kitchen, 2 bathrooms, heat and quilts for those cool August evenings. I loved sitting out by the river, painting, reading, gazing while the water burbled by. Plenty of trees, birds, quiet. 1.2 miles from Town of Housatonic, 4 miles from the center of Stockbridge, and a little more to downtown Great Barrington. In two seeks we went to Tanglewood 3 times, Jacob's Pillow , Shakespeare & Company, Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center 2 times, a crafts show, and, of course some lovely stores and great restaurants. A run to the close-by Berkshire Mountain Bread is well worth it for croissants, sour bread or soup. (The little freight train is no problem. It comes through twice a day, very quietly.) I love the Berkshires and I loved coming home to this special little house.
(Negatives: cell phone service is inconsistent/spotty-AT&T better than Verizon. Stairs and entry steps are steep for the elderly.)

Blue House in idyllic setting!
I recently stayed in the Blue House with 3 friends. It’s a charming, comfortable house in an idyllic setting! The Housatonic River flows right in front of the large picture window and we loved listening to the sounds of the river and watching ducklings float by. The cottage certainly lived up to its description, and to our expectations. It has a cozy feel, yet a spacious layout that easily accommodated our group. The kitchen is very well-equipped, the beds are really comfortable, and the wireless service was trouble-free. We started our days having coffee outside in the garden, and started our evenings having wine in the same spot. There’s a wonderful bakery just a few minutes away, and lots of restaurants and small shops close by. It’s a great place to spend a few days or a few weeks, and is without a doubt a five star destination!

Charming Berkshire escape!
My husband and I stayed for two weeks in August and had a great visit--we come every August to escape the southern heat and reconnect with family/friends having lived in the Berkshires for 20 years. The Blue House on the Bend is so charming and was just right for us---the beds were very comfortable and the two updated bathrooms were great--the water pressure in the showers was amazing. The kitchen is well-equipped with the things you need to cook and dine and plenty of glassware for drinks/wine while enjoying the BEAUTIFUL view of the river out the huge picture window---Enjoy!!

The Perfect Vacation Home
My wife and I spent a week at the Blue House this summer and loved every minute. The house is beautiful and extremely well equipped. The location is lovely, right on the Housatonic River and close to Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell Museum and many other sites worth visiting in the Berkshires. Our charming hosts were very helpful in suggesting ways to get the most out of our stay here. We were glad to have found you.

Our small family passed a relaxing four days at this lovely historic home on a bend of the Housatonic River. We were looking for a short get away after the holidays and found this to be a great base of operations to see the towns and villages of the Berkshire and Hudson River Valley. The home was comfortable in every way. Our fifteen year old enjoyed her privacy upstairs and we loved sitting in front of the large picture window with a view of the river. Due to a mild winter so far, there was not much snow, but the blue jays, cardinals, and woodpeckers put on a good display. The kitchen was well stocked and the bathrooms clean and modern. We did get some sleet/snow on the last day, but the road was well-plowed and driving conditions in the area were fine. Even in the off-season, there was a lot to see in the area. We hiked around some beaver lodges at a local nature preserve and enjoyed some very nice dinners out in nearby towns. I also liked the decor, which was casual but had original art, interesting accent pieces, and colorful linens and rugs. Would love to come back in the warm season to spend some time with a good book on the enclosed porch.

Lovely renovated old house. Delightful view of river right outside the house - great picture window! This house was exactly as pictured and furnished very tastefully. It was perfect for our needs - to celebrate thanksgiving and to spend time with our family. Our guests were quite impressed with the house and river view. My husband, particularly, raved about how comfortable the bed was! Although we have spent some time in the Berkshires before, this was a chance for us to get to know the little town of Housatanic. What a charming old mill town. Not fancy but seemed very quaint. Enjoyed going to the Berkshire Mountain Bakery and Taft Farm. There was much more we just didn't have enough time for. Last but not least, we were met upon our arrival by the "wonderful" mother-in-law, Peg. She was very helpful and checked with us several times during our stay to make sure all was ok. Peg is certainly a "wonderful" mother-in-law!

We had a perfect long weekend at the Blue House. Everything was as advertised with no disappointments. The bedrooms are super comfortable and the house has all amenities. We enjoyed sitting in the living room with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine watching the river. Also it is in a perfect location for hiking, restaurants and a little shopping. Definitely would rent again.

Spent a week in the Berkshires in this fabulous gem of a home - newly redone to make it wonderfully cozy and comfortable, yet retaining its historic charm. We had a wonderful dinner party one night for 8 - kitchen was just as well equipped as mine at home! Even though we hit a cold snap, the house was warm and welcoming; even got to crack the windows at night. Great sleeping! Really enjoyed the local area attractions, including croissants from the Berkshire Mountain bakery, hiking Monument Mountain and lobster at great prices from the Big Y grocery store. My friends and I really enjoyed our time in the Berkshires and especially enjoyed the stay at the Blue House.

The views of the river, surrounding woods and wildlife from the picture window in the great room of this charming, comfortable house are simply hypnotic. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. Attention to detail made this vacation rental a very special place, anticipating every need. Comfortable beds, quality linens, full size new appliances (including washer and dryer), close proximity to many restaurants and stores provided for a wonderfully relaxing week.
The river just outside your door and the charming train that passed occasionally sealed the deal for an exceptional rental. Great value, too, for all the extras!

I recently needed a get-away after 3 weeks of business travel and decided the fall foilage of western MA would be just the escape desired. Look no further than "Blue House on the Bend". The owner really knows what people want and need in a vacation rental. The beds and pillows are of great quality for a perfect night's sleep. Waking up to the views on the Housatonic River while sipping coffee is another added treat. The house was well appointed with just what one needs: clean, well stocked kitchen, great views etc. the renovations are well done with all the modern conveniences while mainting the intergrity of a colonial home. Lastly, the location is superb if you want to hike or explore the neighboring villages.
