We actually had a celebration of my daughter and now fiancee engagement while on vaca. I can send you the beautiful pics of how we set up a long table on the front lawn and all the decor for the party. It was lovely. My only recommendation (and strong one) is that the two bedrms above garage NEED to have closets or at a minimum a clothes rack. As a realtor, we are not permitted to advertise a room as a bedroom without a closet. My husband and I ended up giving my daughter the primary bedroom as everything of hers needed to be on a hanger. Lastly, the front foyer could be a nice nook with a loveseat or two chairs and table in front of fireplace. This is just the realtor in me speaking. Other than those things, we would definitely look into returning again.

This house has an well maintained old charm. It has everything a family could need in a perfect location to watch boats on the water. The beach is within walking distance. The bedrooms are spread out which is great for a multiage family with transfers who want to sleep in.

A wonderful week was had - we celebrated our
first July 4th as true Americans in style and in my perfect vacation location! What a treat to see the Chatham 4th July parade.
The house was a splendid location for us and our guests plus 2 pups. There was nothing better than sitting on the porch at all times of day, just watching the world go by. We all agreed that the house was one of the best stocked we’d stayed in plus it had the added bonus of a brand new outdoor grill!! Highly recommended.

Very nice period New England home with water views, well maintained and in a beautiful setting overlooking the Barn Hill town landing in Chatham. Home is pet friendly, and it is a great neighborhood for walking. This is not a brand new home- but a classic New England rambler with a Cape that has been added to. Very private sleeping areas. We would certainly rent again. The host made check-in/check-out frictionless and easy.

This cottage is perfectly located in Chatham. It was very comfortable for 2 families. Plenty of space for everyone. The large living was a perfect spot for all of us to gather at the end of day. The cottage blends both the original cottage and the newer additions to give you the best of both worlds. The view from the front porch is priceless.

We celebrated my sons HS graduation here and it couldn’t have been more ideal. He and his friends stayed in the 2 bedrooms and bath on one side of the house, coming and going as they pleased. My husband, myself and our younger daughter were at the other end. We had a great week.. We spent every morning drinking coffee on the front porch, reading books and watching the kayakers. At night, we were back out on the porch watching the sky turn pink, having a drink and reflecting on the day. We walked to Hardings beach, biked to White Pond and occasionally took the quick drive into town. The kitchen was well stocked and we ate most of our meals at the house. The yard was beautiful and our two dogs LOVED exploring it. I wasn’t quite ready to go home at the end of the week.

A Reason to Visit Chatham Mass
The Kenney property is a gracious, private, historic older home with all the amenities. The location, the beauty of the property, the view from the front porch, the privacy of the sprawling footprint is remarkable.

Perfect end-of-summer vacation
We had a great week in this home! Everything was perfectly clean, well-stocked, and in order. And the front porch was the perfect spot for all of us (2 little dogs included) to catch a cool breeze and watch the world go by when we weren't off enjoying the nearby beaches, shopping, kayaking opportunities, and walks.
Thank you so much Owen and Family!

Wedding on the Cape
We were here for our sons wedding. The house was a perfect retreat with lots of room for the grandkids to play outside on the beautiful grounds. We enjoyed having our morning coffee on the front porch watching the boats come and go. One day we watched a boat deliver a freshly caught 300 pound Tuna to the Chatham Fish Market. Amazing place to stay.

Plenty of Room & a Great View
House is on a beautiful large property with a water view. House has tons of character, a large family room, and three of the four bedrooms are quite spacious. Great house, would definitely return again.

Awesome House and Location
Would recommend renting this house to anyone who is looking to spend some time in the Cape. Awesome house (very spacious), close to the beach and downtown Chatham. We will be looking to rent this house again next summer!

Historic home with stunning views
This home has a wonderful feel and lots of space, both inside and out. We liked waking up each morning to the beautiful views of the water and the expansive garden. The location is close to everything and yet the house is very private. We were just two couples and we each had our own wing of the house. Perfect for families as well.

Cape Cod History in a House
Recently stayed at this beautiful house in Chatham on Oyster Pond for a month. The location was spectacular. The house was funky and full of stories- clearly built over decades. Houses like this are time capsules, living history and the owners leave a booklet detailing the history they do know about the house. They also leave all the supplies you need to boil your own lobster or clams. The layout of the bedrooms gives everyone plenty of space. Rare to have, the utility/laundry room was a great place to pack and unpack days at the beach.
This is a special house and I feel lucky to have been allowed to spend time with my family on the porch watching the boats come and go.

Quintessential Chatham home
Wonderful week staying in this beautifully maintained Chatham home. It’s historic charm remains while having been updated for today’s comforts! Amazing location overlooking Oyster River, made enjoying the view and the yard our main pastime before and after spending the day at Harding’s beach. Thank you for the stay!

PERFECT beyond expectations!
Perfect!
Our 2 weeks at the Kenneys’ Barn Hill Rd home couldn’t have been better. It was perfect for our sons and grandchildren’s comings and goings. We all loved having breakfast on the porch or just relaxing while watching the boats. The plantings and yard are fabulous and perfect for our dog and grandchildren to play ball. The kitchen is stocked with every utensil and serving dish imaginable. The house was clean, beautifully maintained and comfortable with lots of areas for privacy. Just a quick drive or walk to Hardings Beach, delicious Marion’s Pie Shop, Hangar B Cafe and Chatham Center (a little longer walk/drive). We love this house and look forward to next year!!! Thank you, Owen Kenney!

Great house and location for a family or bigger group
Beautiful historic house, well kept and clean with fully equipped kitchen (including huge lobster pots!) Location is good, overlooking town boat launch/river with friendly kayak and paddleboard rental place across the street, but a short drive or long walk from downtown or sandy beach. multiple water views for coffee and drinks with nice outdoor seating and new bbq. House has good layout for 2 families or bigger groups, true 4 bedroom. Fastest response time i have had on homeaway from owners. Rental agent can put you in touch with reasonably priced and convenient linen rental if coming from out of area. Would recommend!

Lovely week in Chatham
My family and I had a fantastic week in Chatham. The house is about a 7 minute drive into Chatham center, depending on traffic, and is perfectly situated on a hill for amazing water views, especially in the morning and evening. We had 8 people (four couples) and a dog and the house is perfectly designed to allow for ample personal space as well as great open spaces to congregate as a group. We would definitely stay again!

The Cape at its Best!
My family and I stayed for a long weekend in May 2017. The property was perfect for our family. A short walk from the house we were able to rent paddle boards and kayaks. We enjoyed starting the day with a paddle on Oyster River followed by coffee and breakfast on the front porch. The view overlooking the water along with the home's historic feel provided the perfect setting for our Cape Cod vacation. My kids enjoyed playing bocce and croquet in the beautiful yard. Inside, the house was functional and comfortable for all of us. Its central location provided easy access to downtown Chatham and Harwichport at night. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning!

Breathtaking views, quiet and secluded location, close to downtown Chatham
Can't say enough about our stay at this wonderful house. Tucked at the end of a quiet street with fabulous views of oyster river and nantucket sound, the location cannot be beat. We enjoyed coffee on the porch while watching the comings and goings at the dock at the end of the street. The house is well equipped and very comfortable for a large family or two families with children. Close to one of Chatham's best beaches, and just a short drive to downtown and great restaurants- what a gem! Highly recommended, we'll be back!

Perfect Home!!!
The Barn Hill House could not have been better for our trip. The location was perfect for traveling up and down the Cape to our destinations -- easy access and very convenient. The house had everything we needed as far as amenities go -- it was very spacious for 6 adults and 4 kids. The scenery was incredible; immaculate garden and the huge yard absolutely made our trip. Close access to the beach, Chatham's amazing restaurants and several area beaches. Could go on and on, but to sum it up, an absolutely PERFECT place to visit. Coming to the Barn Hill House has become our yearly tradition!!!

Amazing house and location!
I have been going to the Cape for many years and haven't found a better house and property to vacation at. The house has plenty of space and provides amazing views of oyster river and monomoy in the distance. The house sit just across the street from Oyster river, which provides a great place to launch a boat or paddleboards and it is just a short drive into downtown Chatham. We had an amazing time and we can't wait to vacation there again.

The best of the cape.
The "Barnhill House," as my family most affectionately refers to it, is the epitome of Chatham coastal living. We've been coming down for long weekends in May for the last couple years and we couldn't be happier. Having the ability to launch the boat and be on the water in five minutes while leaving the trailer in the driveway is invaluable. If we're not on the water we're playing golf; the Chatham public course is a well maintained challenging 9 and Cranberry Vally is never full. The views are second to none, the location couldn't be more convenient, and if you like Chatham a little on the quieter side, you'll love this house in May.

Fantastic Vacation
My family and I rented this property in June with family friends. It was our first time to Chatham, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The quant downtown, activities such as Cape League Baseball, Friday night band concerts and easy access to a variety of beaches were ideal for both kids and adults. The property itself was perfect for our needs. Within a short walk from the house, we were able to rent paddleboards and kayaks as well as find a slip to keep our 24 foot boat on for the week (plenty of great fishing to be had with access to Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean). The house itself is incredibly charming, still retaining its historic character while being comfortable (for two families with kids) and functional. The kids spent endless hours playing yard games and the adults loved the sweeping views from the porch and front lawn. As an added bonus, my wife (who is a big American Idol fan) just learned that Harry Connick Jr. has a house about a mile down the river in Oyster pond. All in all, a great spot and a great vacation. Our families hope to make this a yearly event.

Chatham MA + Barn Hill = Heaven on Earth
My family has been travelling to Chatham for almost 30 years and with a growing family, we decided to rent this home back in 2010 and every summer since then.
Chatham is by far the best town on Cape Cod offering something for just about every member of your family or travelling party. On the elbow of Cape Cod, Chatham is the quintessential small summer village with a mile long “Main Street” offering everything from small clothing boutiques and t-shirt shops to penny candy stores and lots of locally made goods to bring home after your vacation. Surrounded by beaches on 3 sides of town, it’s hard to go wrong whether you’re looking to brave the cold Atlantic at Lighthouse Beach, bring your kids to the calm salt water inlet of Oyster Pond or find a nice cove boasting warmer waters off of Pleasant Bay in North Chatham. Once you’ve soaked up enough sun for the day, Chatham offers a wide variety of options for dinner and drinks, but for the baseball lovers in your life, there is nothing better than taking in a Chatham Anglers game where you can scout some of the finest college talent and Major League Baseball prospects in the country. And if you think you’ve exhausted everything Chatham has to offer (which is almost impossible) the towns central location on Cape Cod makes it relatively easy to take a day trip up to Provincetown or Wellfleet for an evening at the Drive-In movie theater.
As for the house on Barn Hill, you cannot go wrong. The perfect house for a larger parties, whether it be several couples or multiple families, there is plenty of space for everyone. With each bedroom and bathroom positioned on its own floor or wing of the house, each person can enjoy their own personal space without feeling crowded a major plus for large groups looking to actually find time to rest and relax on vacation. The kitchen, dining room, and living room have been recently updated and can accommodate a large group for a fresh fish dinner or even just one person who stayed home for the day to enjoy a good book next to the picture window overlooking the ocean. And finally, but possibly the most important feature of the house at the end of Barn Hill is that it offers an amazing lawn and one of the most spectacular views in Chatham—the perfect setting for your morning coffee, afternoon game of bocce, or glass of wine after a long day enjoying Chatham.
To summarize, don’t wait. This is the true Cape Cod experience.

If I could rate this listing with seven of five stars, I would. This property is a slice of Heaven on a hill! I've stayed here more than once in the past few years, and plan to return again and again.
There is ample space for multiple couples or families with children. With sleeping quarters at both ends of the house, even a full-house offers privacy and quiet. And this house is meant to be filled. With a dining room table that easily seats 12, and lots of outdoor space for lawn games, you'll want to corral a group of friends and family for your stay here! Its warm & welcoming in the cooler months, and cool & breezy in the summer.
My favorite feature of the house is the front porch & lawn. the porch is perfect for drinking coffee and enjoying the spectacular view, reading the morning paper, or watching the bustling activity of the public landing at the the base of the hill, as fishermen head out for the day and visitors put their boats in the water. Writing this review makes me wish I was there now! Barn Hill - LOVE IT!

A special home for a memorable vacation
We were a group of eight long-time women friends who celebrated significant "over the hill" birthdays on the "hill'. We couldn't have asked for more luxury. The jetted tub was particularly welcoming after bike riding.
It was easy to prepare our celebratory dinner in the well-appointed kitchen. We spent countless hours at the dining room table eating, drinking and laughing and in the living room lounging and relishing the spectacular view. The house has wonderful Karma.
As a previous reviewer mentioned the pictures really don’t do the house justice. The home is expansive and elegant; yet very comfortable. When individuals wanted time alone it was easy to find a nook inside or out on the porch or stroll down to the water.
Even in mid-October we found ourselves overloaded with entertainment options when we actually ventured off the property. Chatham, Provincetown and a number of beaches were ‘must see’ destinations.
We all would highly recommend this special home for an extra-special memorable vacation.

Historic home in great location
I booked this house for a long weekend reunion with family and was not disappointed. The location was wonderful and overlooks the water and a picturesque lighthouse in the distance. The property allows plenty of space for children to play games and explore while remaining within sight of adults on the front porch. Town and other beaches are also very accessible. The house itself is incredibly charming; it's clear that the main portion of the house is historic, yet modern updates have been made without compromising the home's original character. The house was clean and we had no issues. It was also my first time to Chatham, which is a lovely town with beautiful beaches and plenty of shopping and dining options. We are looking forward to returning.

Amazing location and accommodations!! You must stay here!
The listing does not do this place justice! No description or photo could accurately capture the upscale accommodations and surrounding beauty. We loved our stay!
My girlfriend and I rented this luxury property with three other couples while attending a wedding in Chatham. The location is perfect, right on the water overlooking the town landing and only a couple minutes from one of the best beaches in Chatham and the quaint village center. The meticulously updated and restored 18th century home is perfectly arranged for multi-family rentals or for multiple couples. The kitchen and bathrooms are very modern (although I recommend the outdoor shower), and the living room and bedrooms are perfectly decorated with coastal and ocean themes.
The sprawling lawn welcomed bocce, horseshoes and other outdoor games and activities, and the large deck became the perfect setting for outdoor meals next to the modern gas grill.
The rental was perfectly clean and well maintained. The lawn was meticulously landscaped, and the interior was spotless and stocked with fresh linens.
We had no issues during our rental, but I am confident the owner would have addressed them as quickly as he did when we were researching the house prior to our vacation.
I would absolutely recommend this place to my friends, and the 8 of us are already planning our return to this house next summer! This place defines Cape Cod charm!
