Our "Fishermen´s Paradise" is located just a few minutes away from the Gulf of Mexico. The house has direct access to the water with its own landing stage. The spectacular view to the west won´t let you spend your evenings somewhere else. The building complex is characteristic of Matlacha - a colorful and creatively decorated accommodation with a fresh touch and lovingly attached details.

The "Fisherman´s Paradise" consists of 5 small and adorable studios. Each studio offers a queen-size bed, an eat-in kitchen, and its own shower bath. In the kitchen, you will find a microwave and 2 induction hotplates.
A community washing machine and dryer are also available as well as many different seating groups in the spacious outside area.

Look forward to spending nice evenings on the terrace.

We had a great stay in the grouper room! The room is small but had everything we needed. The kitchenette was well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the short walk to the coffee shop every morning! The property is very clean and it was so nice relaxing on the back deck every evening. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful property! ☺️

Our stay at Marco and Martina's place was absolutely wonderful! The space was perfect for two people, cutely decorated, clean and equipped with all you needed. They did a wonderful job renovating after such horrible destruction from the hurricane and their hard work has definitely paid off. The outside area of the apartments is great with plenty of places to hang out and look at the beautiful waterway. The surrounding area is equally as cute with easy access to larger towns and beaches. The hosts were easy to communicate with throughout the whole process and it was a pleasure to meet them at their reopening celebration. They were extremely kind, friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend staying here :)

Everything was as described. A small, very clean and tidy unit. All communications were excellent. All the necessities for cooking your own meals. Loved the location on the canal, with walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Would stay again if in the area.

Grouper is for the minimalist. We are active so it suited us. All was clean but could use a little updating. The cottage is functional and well located. Pine Island a short drive and Sanibel would be a day trip. The bath was small but sufficient with plenty of warm water and water pressure. The kitchen had everything you could need to cook for yourselves or just keep desirable items on hand. The bed was very comfortable and there was enough storage space overall to keep the few items you might need on hand. Attractively designed and colorfully decorated it more than satisfied our needs. In addition the dock space was generous. Enough space to chat with neighbors or read in the corner. We used the grill but brought all our own toys although there were plenty of various boats, PFD’s and fishing poles. The washer and dryer were a big plus and efficient too. The neighborhood is quiet and great for a walk or bike ride. There is a community park nearby, that’s a terrific plus. Perfect Cup and Blue Dog were our go-to when we did eat out. I believe our favorite thing was the sunsets on the dock around 7:30 each evening. Will return and maybe try out Red Fish, which is on the canal side of the building.

We got off to a bumpy start with some smoke detector issues but those were resolved. Loved the location. The dock out back was just right. The unit was a bit small for us. One of the other ones would have been better. Met some nice people.

We loved our stay but there was no battery in the smoke / carbon monoxide detector and we couldn’t use the oven the whole time we were there because there was a huge puddle of grease in the bottom of the over and it made our eyes burn when we tried to use it. We could have used a large bowl and cookie sheets. We loved our stay tho.

My wife and I were hoping to find a destination for peace and relaxation, somewhere and something different than we had chosen in the past and boy did we find it! Matlacha was delightful, colorful, and fun. We absolutely loved the Grouper Room. It was small, cozy, clean, cute, adorable, and right on the water. It is in the front of a small one story fourplex, but it doesn’t seem crowded, in fact in our seven days we rarely saw other guest. The parking provides easy access to your cottage and the feel is extremely safe. The owners have provided everything you need for a fantastic stay except you and your groceries. There are fishing poles, kayaks, stand up boards, and even a pontoon boat to be rented if you choose. There is also laundry facilities onsite. Only two suggestions we would have, it would be nice to have two pillows per guest and although there are hanging blinds, it would be nice to have curtains over the blinds to provide more shade and privacy. In closing we have had a FANTASTIC stay in the Grouper Room and highly recommend it for someone looking for clean, cozy, and fun accommodations.

It is a great location with all the Matlacha attractions in walking distance. The room was cozy and had everything we needed.It was right on the water and our boat was tied up 15 feet from our room. The property manager was very nice and took care of our needs.

Quiet old Florida-style neighborhood. Close to tourist-y activities and eats. Staff was available though we didn't need anything. Very small efficiency unit facing the street, clean and contained all that we needed. We were in the area to search for real estate so we were there only for sleeping and showering. Another comment was posted about height of ceilings (we missed it when booking) and yes it's true... if you are a tall person over 6', you will be risking an unexpected haircut from the ceiling fan, so use caution there. :-) Weather was unusually chilly and really needed that extra blanket in the closet. Space heater didn't keep the chill off all that well. We didn't use the other amenities, though there is plenty to choose from with the pontoon boat, kayaks, SUPs and fishing gear.

I stayed at the Grouper Unit, an efficiency unit on the street side of the small rental complex, 4 units. The unit included bed well stocked galley kitchen and shower/toilet, the common area on the canal side was clean and included grill and laundry area ($1 wash, $1 dry, save your quarters) and provided easy access to the water for rental kayaks and stand-up boards. Plenty of tropical plants and wild life to give you a sense of place. Parking right in front made for easy loading and unloading of equipment and supplies. Overall very adequate for me but others may desire a bit more fancy. I was there to explore fishing opportunities so I was not spending much time it in the unit. The neighborhood is quiet and not much going on and a short walk into "downtown" Matlacha. Stock up before getting into Matlacha as there are few food or liquor stores in walking distance. The kitchen was outfitted with IKEA sourced plates and cooking equipment, coffee pot, and a few other appliances. I recommended they include some scrub pads for dish washing and detergent for the laundry. Not that I could not buy myself but it was not on the shopping list. There is a dollar store on the way in where you can pick up these supplies for cheap. Staff was hands off but friendly when I checked out. Our schedule did not coordinate for check in but they were available by phone and returned my calls in a timely manner. The unit is classic old school Florida if you are over 6 feet tall be aware that the ceilings are about 7 feet and the fan is lower so you may need to duck. Biggest complaint was the small 19" or 20" TV, local over air channels free and Firestick for those that have access to Netflix.

We enjoyed our getaway in Matlacha.Property manager Charity was pleasant and helpful. Our unit was the smallest and we would probably get a larger one next time but it had everything we needed. The place is a fishermans paradise with all equipment available including boat right outside your door . Easy walk to shops and restaurants.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay in the Grouper Room. Matlacha was more than we could have ever asked for and all the sight seeing on Pine Island, Ft Myers, Sanibel and Captiva was just icing on the cake. Matlacha was our favorite- everyone on island is so friendly and go out if their way to advise on different places to go and experience. Our only downside we're all the No-See-Ems bugs, especially out on the back patio. I'd suggest some citronella candles or some bug spray. They leave some nasty bites! Overall an amazing vacation and we will absolutely be back!

The decor is basic and the place isnt fancy. But its quiet and the water views are beautiful. The place is laid out so every unit has some privacy and you can enjoy eating or sitting by the water. For the price this is a nice waterfront retreat.
