About this farm stay rental
Carriglea House is a ‘historic house’ and is one of the jewels in the crown of Killarney accommodation. Its location alone is unrivalled, sitting on a slight rise overlooking the lakes and mountains, in a peaceful countryside setting but still within walking distance to Killarney town and across the street from the entrance to The National Park. There are pubs and restaurants and a supermarket within a few minutes walk, along a promenade. The house itself like the setting is totally unique, it has kept its old world charm but with modern conveniences discreetly included. This period house has an interesting history mirroring the history of Ireland from the landlord era to the present day.
The rooms are all large with the drawing room and dining room featuring some wonderful antique furniture and large bay windows with lake views. The bedrooms have their own private bathroom. The kitchen is modernly equipped with the addition of an AGA stove which will be the one piece of equipment you will long to take home with you. The kitchen larder which s an old confession box adds to the charm. There is a laundry room with large washer and large dryer in the house.
The grounds are large with huge lawns and mature gardens with some very interesting features, including a pond and it's natural water fountain. The entrance to the National Park is just across the street, which allows your group to pursue different interests, maybe it’s a jog or a romantic lakeside stroll or visiting an old abbey, its all there on your doorstep.
We also have a self-catering courtyard cottage available on the property.

Wonderful few days in a house full of character in a most ideal location. John and Bernie were attentive hosts and we would all love to return in the future

From the moment we walked into Carriglea House, we felt completely at home. Elegant and comfortable, with gorgeous views of Killarney National Park directly across the road, and an easy walk to pubs and shops in town, this house was everything we dreamed it would be for ourselves and all our guests. We spent hours talking in the sitting room, enjoying ourselves around the table with beautiful dinners prepared by local catering company and cooking school, Just Cooking, and walking the trails of the park to explore the stunning lake along with Muckross Abbey and Muckross House. Our hosts, Eileen and John, were delightful and helpful in every way we needed, and made us feel the house was ours while we were in it. We loved using the AGA (something I've always wanted to have in my own home!) and the professional dishwasher that leaves dishes spotless in 2 1/2 minutes! We absolutely loved our week there and have already made reservations for next year. Looking forward to coming back for many years to come!

Carriglea House was a perfect choice for my wife and myself, our daughter, her five adult children and several spouses. We were eleven total, and we could have comfortably housed a few more. The rooms were large and comfortable with many bathrooms. The washer and clothes dryer also came in very handy.
The view was perfect, including the three donkeys my grandaughter fed carrots and apples to every day.
We loved the central location of the house just outside the town of Killarney with all it's tourist sites, restaurants and pubs. We spent a day exploring the area around the lakes, including a wonderful small boat tour across all three lakes.
The house is also right on the Ring of Kerry and very close to The Dingle Peninsula and many other sites.
I'm certain every member of our group would gladly stay there again.

Just returned from 12 day stay with 12 family members 6 adults 3 teens and 3 kids . Wonderful to spread out over 7 bedrooms with each group having their own ensuite bathroom ! This house is so homey and comfortable! Lots of parking and with two additional cottages on site you could host a huge family tenuous here ! The furnishings took you back in time to an elegant era. Kitchen and bathrooms are modern and there’s a huge fridge and washer and dryer . Eileen our host is a lovely person with great suggestions ! Her husband John came to our rescue when our attempt at a fry up set off the smoke alarm! Wonderful location minutes from town but peaceful and beautiful! A vacation we will cherish !

Eileen and John are ideal hosts. I had 1 million questions for them as we arranged this trip for our family and I answered them all. Their home is incredibly well acquainted with room for everyone. We took up all seven bedrooms. We had a catered dinner the second night for a company, eileen recommended. A little husband and wife team provided an amazing meal. They were called caraway catering. We played lawn games in the evening, took bike rides, runs, hikes, right from the Carriglea House across the street to the opening of the Killarney national park. We were walking distance to the grocery store, the gas station, the bike, rental, and a hearty walk into town . We met a nice Irish tabby the first day and he ended up arranging for us nightly taxis to get us all into town for dinner and the pubs so no one had to drive. We did day trips to Kenmare and Dingle. We swim in the water at Killarney lake a lovely little beach. There's so many restaurants and pubs that were fantastic. I can't name them. I highly highly recommend this property for any group of any size. If I could give six stars I would.

Eileen was a great host and this 200 year-old house had charm, room and provided us a great location for day trips all over the southwest section of Ireland. Magnificent setting and we enjoyed our stay.

Spent over 2 weeks at Carriglea House with extended family - could not have been more pleased. Spacious rooms, great kitchen, good gathering space, generous dining room - but best of all, fabulous outside area for evening games of kickball among the grandchildren. The location is great for setting out every day to tour southwest Ireland and the National Park across the street offers as much walking, hiking, biking and lake frontage to enjoy as you could want. Killarney town has great food, pubs, shopping and groceries, as well as a great playground for the little ones. If we ever return to Ireland, we will certainly return to Carriglea - eileen is a very helpful and attentive host; all Irish people we came in contact with were so welcoming and accommodating - we felt very much at home!

We have stayed in many non hotel rental properties. This property was by far the finest we have ever occupied. The owners were extremely accommodating and personally hospitable. The location, views (especially from the bedroom) and ambiance was perfect. The house itself was clean, well maintained with exquisite furnishings. We do intend to return.

What can we say about CARRIGLEA House that hasn’t been already said - Eileen is an excellent host and she thinks of everything - the welcome basket was a very thoughtful gesture and all 12 guests appreciated it.
The house is perfect for large group and we had lots of space - both inside and outside - the kitchen was amazing and all meals were enjoyed in a group setting- dinning room table is big enough for large groups
The house is more than close to town and easy to get into and out of and only a short walk - area is fantastic
Thanks again Eileen and see you soon

In June 2022, we finally got to take the trip we had planned for exactly two years earlier. So much anticipation! We had a large family group gathering from AL, GA, MD, PA, and NY, arriving by car and train. We met at Carriglea House and it was so much fun to gather together, choose our bedrooms, and check out the house!
We found that the house exceeded our (high) expectations. It's nicely decorated and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is outfitted really well and the dishwasher served our group often. We enjoyed meals in the spacious dining room, and relaxed after dinner in the sitting room and TV room. Card games, jigsaw puzzles, music, laughter, and sharing our day's events...what a wonderful home away from home!
One of the best features of the place is the location, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We also enjoyed walks to the Lake Hotel, and some of us made it on foot to Muckross Abbey, Muckross House, and even Torc waterfall! (Be aware, that's a long walk). On more than one evening we had a walk to the lake across the street. We enjoyed being out of the traffic and congestion of the busy town, yet close enough that it was a short drive away. Killarney is really a great location for a family, because there's truly something for everyone.
At the house there was plenty of parking which was nice since we had so many cars. The driveway was large enough that the Deros Tours mini-bus could pull up and pick us up. Two of our most fun days were private coach rentals, which took us to the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. Several of our group also really enjoyed the Gap of Dunlop with Deros, and they also picked us up. The parking in town isn't easy, so we were glad to be picked up and dropped off.
Eileen was wonderful, and each day I was in contact with her so I could ask questions or get suggestions. We didn't meet John but he is the one who handled the booking which was fine as well, although dealing with VRBO wasn't that easy because their payment system changed between our deposit and our final payment (over two years later!)
We had one issue with the dryer and it was fixed the next day. That was fortunate and much appreciated.
I can highly recommend the Carriglea House. Our family has been talking about it frequently since our return. It was really a magical trip, and our comfortable accommodations made the trip so special and memorable!

Just left Carriglea Manor with my husband, five grown kids and two girlfriends. We had a wonderful trip. There was plenty of room for everyone with bedrooms left over. It's so nice for everyone to have their own space and bathroom. Even the common rooms were wonderful. The view of the mountains, lake, sunsets were what really made this place unique. (Not to mention Paddy and Lizzy!) Eileen's hospitality and generosity were truly charming. We hope to get back someday!

Couldn't have picked a better place to stay with my adult children and two young grandchildren for their first visit to Ireland. The view out the front door was terrific and plenty of room for the youngsters to run around in the front yard or to play with the horses. The family ran, biked and walked all around the national park across the street. A short car ride to Killarney's pubs and restaurants.
Our hosts provided a welcoming environment, clean home and help with a couple of our needs. There was nothing to disappoint us and I feel lucky to have found this listing as easily as I did.

I don't know if there's enough space for a complete picture of our wonderful time at Carriglea House.
The location was perfect, the views magical! The hosts, Eileen and John were attentive and fun to be with (we saw Eileen more frequently, but John was always around and available as well). We loved learning about the family history of the home and because of this - the area. The beds were very comfortable, it s quiet and peaceful for sleeping.
As it was a bit cool, the kitchen with the AGA oven was a centerpiece - felt weird at first and now we'd like one! It cooks perfectly! The kitchen was large enough that all of us could be in there at the same time.
The location afforded us the ability to explore nature easily - all of the available hikes, as well as day trips to wonderful cities and tours. We recommend the Ring of Beara as it was so beautiful and remote! We loved the little town of Kenmore!
They care a lot about responsible stewardship of the land and we were also happy about this- recycling was available and easy.
Waking up to the view with the horses and donkey and having a cup of tea or coffee and quietly reading to get the day started was another favorite!
Perfect for the 13 of us - our 6 children, their partners and our new grand baby - we were all perfectly cared for!
We would happily come back!

The VRBO posting for the Carriglea House appeared too good to be true. We found it to be far better.Setting at the end of a long driveway off the Ring of Kerry road, Carriglea has sweeping views of the lakes and mountains of Killarney National Park. Breathtaking, peaceful, relaxing. The interior of the house is as beautiful as the exterior, configured just as depicted in the pictures. Bedrooms are roomy; most with private baths. The formal parlor provided a perfect setting for our grandchildren to put on Irish Dancing Exhibitions each evening. The house was clean, comfortable and welcoming. The owners, Eileen and John Beazley who live in a separate cottage on the property, were gracious hosts and provided special touches to make our stay enjoyable. The Carriglea House is perfect for a family group. With 7 BR’s; a huge Dining Room; formal parlor and drawing room; and a large kitchen it easily accomodates your clan. The grounds are magnificent plus 2 horses, donkey, and an adorable cat make it a pleasure to enjoy the outdoors. A bit of a long walk to Killarney center but very easy access to the National Park just across the road.

We had a group of 20 people and rented the manor and 1 cottage. Our stay in Killarney was wonderful and everything went smoothly and we just fell in love with Eileen. The manor, cottage and grounds are beautiful and welcoming. Plus, we lucked out with the weather, blue skies with some clouds. We hired Kerry Coaches to take us around the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula, the driver was so skilled along the narrow roads. We also hired Caraway Catering to bring full Irish breakfast in most morning, it was amazing! We cannot thank Eileen and John enough for their hospitality and ease with communications and conversations. We will miss you, your beautiful home and cannot wait to come back! The Mahoney Family :)

Awesome Family Trip
Carriglea House is in a perfect and serene location, surrounded by beautiful scenery, yet within a short drive (or 30 min. walk) of lively Killarney town. The house was historic, pretty, roomy, comfortable, and clean. Host John and Eileen couldn't have been nicer.....very warm and welcoming, helpful when we needed it, but allowing privacy for us at the same time.

Lovely home, location and owners!
Our group absolutely loved this house and all of the extras provided by the hosts, including a nice, big Bun coffee-maker and American-sized washing machine and dryer! The area is simply dazzling with beautiful views of Killarney National Park right from the upstairs windows. I would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous accomodations and hospitality
I organized a group of 8 golfers to play some of the famous links courses in South West Ireland. Our home base during our one week stay was the Carriglea Manor house in Killarney . From the moment we arrived until departure day, the owners John and Eileen were very attentive to our needs and very welcoming. The accommodations were very comfortable, clean and historic. I would highly recommend this property as a vacation home.

Amazing place to stay, highly recommend
Can't say enough great things about this place. The house and surrounding grounds are fantastic. Truly blends the character and charm of the old Victorian home with the modern amenities a traveler looks for today. Our group of 10 (three kids, 4 adults and 3 seniors) stayed here for 5 nights and loved it. John and Eileen are great hosts. It's close enough to town to easily drive or taxi in yet outside of the hustle and bustle of Killarney. Our kids absolutely loved all the animals and looked forward every day to petting the horses, donkey and cats. Overall, a top-notch experience. I hope our travels bring us back to this lovely home again in the future.

Lovely, beautiful, warm, inviting.
We LOVED our stay at Carriglea House. Every detail was perfect and John and Eileen were kind, super responsive and so helpful! We had 14 people in and over over 8 days and everyone raves about the property. A favorite for all was the peat brick fires as we played cards and spent screen free time together enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The kids loved the Abbey ruins within walking distance and the adults loved the view from the bar/restaurant at the hotel across the street for a few moments out. I highly recommend!!!

Wonderful stay with great hosts!
What a wonderful home -- room for all of our extended family and close to all the many different activities that our group wanted to do. Eileen and John were more than welcoming and had many great suggestions. We all enjoyed the animals too -- an added bonus to our stay in this wonderful country home.

Not the 4 Seasons, but in its way a 5 Star
We had the house for a week for a family trip. Seven adults and 2 four year olds. More than enough private bedrooms with bath and great congregating spots : kitchen, living room, dining room and a family room with tv.
The house is 150 years old with great character on a beautiful piece of land with great views. The delightful owners, John and Eileen, went out of their way to assure a great stay. The location, across the street from Killarney National Park and Louth Leane, is on the Ring of Kerry and is central for County Kerry sightseeing and golf.

Great home base for golfing
8 of us on a guy’s golf trip had the house and one guest cottage for a week. The property is fantastic, everyone had their own room and bathroom, and the Beazleys made us feel right at home. It provides a great home base for golfing the great courses of the SW, which ranged from 10 minutes to 1:45 hrs. it was so nice to return to the house at the end of the day, relax and enjoy the view. Killarney was a short, easy taxi ride and a few good restaurants are a short walk. I highly recommend.

A perfect week in Ireland
Our family was a group of 13 - three generations. Eileen made us feel so welcome we were immediately at home.
We cannot thank Eileen and John enough for all the suggestions and the great Irish breakfast. We hired a coach one day and had dinner catered another. The house is so large and comfortable, we all had plenty of room. No one wanted to leave the kitchen but the sitting room had such great views we were always drawn to it. A fabulous home. Beauty, Lizzie, Paddy and the cats were very popular with all of us.
No one wanted to leave. We all hope to return soon.
Take the time to smell John’s roses!

A perfect week!
Our family group of 13 spent a week at Carriglea House. It was spectacular! We couldn’t have picked a better location. The house itself was beautiful! It was meticulously clean and had plenty of room for all of us. Eileen and John have done a wonderful job of incorporating modern day amenities while maintaining the house’s original charm. Eileen was very helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to do in and around Killarney. She and John were there if we needed them, but otherwise let us be. We all became fast friends with Beauty, Lindsey, and Paddy (the 2 horses and donkey) that live on the property. They would literally come running up the field to greet us as we returned home at the end of the day. We were sad to leave, but we’ll be back! Oh- and don’t miss out on Eileen’s traditional Irish breakfast. It’s not to be missed!
