About this house rental
If you are looking for a fun-filled family vacation, then this is the place for you. Loon's Nest Retreat offers over 100' of sandy lakefront on beautiful Otter Lake. This is an all seasons home with swimming, boating, fishing, and snowmobiling right out your door. Our home is located on a peaceful bay on the north east end of Otter Lake in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Located 40 minutes from Utica and just a short 15 minute drive to Old Forge, where you can spend the day at Enchanted Forest Water Safari, hike up Bald Mountain, or even take a scenic chairlift ride up McCauley Mountain.
Our home features a large eat in kitchen with all the amenities including a dishwasher, oven, stove, full size refrigerator/freezer, pots and pans, silverware, and dishes. Living room with a stone fireplace, full size bathroom, and a laundry room with washer and dryer. There are 3 bedrooms, all of which offer stunning lakefront views. On the main floor of the home is the master suite with king bed and brand new ensuite bathroom (May 2020). The guest bath is off of the dining room on the first floor. The perfect spot for the kids is the built in bunks in the hallway we like to call the "bear den." The remaining bedrooms are on the second floor; one room with two double beds and the other with one queen bed. Our home also has WIFI.
Loons Nest Retreat is perfectly located on a very large flat piece of property, perfect for children to play outdoors with a beautiful lawn that leads to the waterfront. The waterfront offers a gazebo and dock for you to enjoy breathtaking views of the lake. Enjoy fishing, boating (pedal boat available for you to use), water skiing, kayaking (there are two kayaks for you to use) and at night roast marshmallows in our fire pit. This home is a piece of paradise for our family and we hope you will come and enjoy our beautiful home away-from-home in the idyllic Adirondack mountains.

My family and I had a great time. The lake was extremely convenient for the kids and us as well. The area is beautiful especially exploring moose river. Highly recommend this property.

The house was amazing. Very clean and lots of room. Unfortunately it rained almost the entire weekend so we didn’t have a chance to enjoy the lake. It was still a good time getting the whole family together for some rock painting, movies and a trip up to old forge. Would like to try it again with out the rain

Nice spot on a small lake, close to Old Forge and lots of activities in the Adirondacks.
Hang out on Otter Lake and enjoy the sunsets and campfires!

Wonderful location. Perfect Lakehouse setting. Had a great time Kayaking and enjoying a fire. House was well equipped and very comfortable. No linens threw us off a bit but was not an issue until we forgot ours nicely packed at home LOL. Neighbors were very welcoming. Looking forward to returning next year!

Adirondack getaway for family
The camp is outfitted with comfortable furniture and the kitchen is well equipped. Decorated nicely and very clean. The camp's setting gave a pretty view of Otter Lake from the spacious deck and lakeside gazebo and campfire chairs. Water by the shore is shallow enough for young children to wade in and play. The short drive to the restaurants and stores in Old Forge is convenient. Highly recommend!

We loved waking up every morning and having coffee on the lake. The house was perfect for our groups long weekend. This location is perfect for relaxing at the lake and then heading out for hikes and going to Old Forge. We would definitely rent this house again.

Loon’s Nest
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at your place. The location is awesome. Everything you could want was there in the house. Dona was an excellent owner and was very quick to answer any questions! The only negative thing I can say is that brining your own linens, including towels, was a pain!! Thank you for a memorable experience!!

Beautiful lake
We loved our stay at Loon’s Nest. The house was clean, comfortable, cozy and convenient for everything that we needed. We had the whole section of the lake to ourselves almost the entire week.
Otter lake is beautiful, calm and great for swimming, fishing and boating. The property is very family friendly with lots of green space for kids to run around. We loved eating lunch and dinner on the deck with a perfect view of the lake.
It’s location was convenient to Old Forge and the many activities you can enjoy there. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a family friendly relaxing vacation! Thanks to Nate and his family for sharing it with us!

Had a wonderful time over our week long rental on Otter Lake. For the first half of the week there was 6 of us and then 4 during the second half and we had plenty of room.
The camp is nicely located on a quiet bay with great views of the lake and island. The dock was large enough to tie up a 23' pontoon boat we rented and had delivered to Otter Lake for the first half of the week. The lake was busy on Sunday the 4th of July as expected but we still managed to water ski with no problems. During the the weekdays the lake was very quiet. The camp comes with a peddle boat and two kayaks that we made use of. I even caught a nice bass off the dock.
The camp was very clean and well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals both inside and on the large gas grill on the deck. The WiFi worked great and Roku on the TVs was nice to have during a few rainy periods over the week.
Nate was very helpful and responsive in answering our questions both before we arrived and then during our stay.
The only negative was a family of geese that were making their home on the bay and left their droppings in the grass and along the water edge. Not much you can do about it as the lake is their home too.
Otter Lake is a short 15 - 20 minute drive to Old Forge where we had a wonderful meal at Keen Kitchen (highly recommend).
All in all Loon's Nest Retreat is nice camp in a perfect location on Otter Lake. The lake was clean and warm and enjoyable to both swim in as well as take a relaxing slow cruise around.
If you are looking for a lakefront rental close to Old Forge give Otter Lake and Loon's Nest Retreat a consideration.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Loon's Nest. The house had so much space and the view was great. Clearly a lot of renovations/new additions (even since the property pictures were taken). We loved the Gazebo in the morning for coffee, and the ADK chairs by the firepit at night. House has everything you need, and is a quick drive into Old Forge. It is only a few minutes away from some great hiking trails. We typically stay in places a bit more secluded, but even though there are lots of neighbors it was still quiet and peaceful.

Excellent location on Otter Lake as the view from the house allows you to see most of the length of the lake. Best view on the lake by far. Access to kayaks and a fire pit made the stay that much more enjoyable. Friendly, accommodating neighbors!
