Aside from its 'right smack there on the river' location, this luxurious lodge is the absolute, bar none, best of accommodations with over 4,200 square feet, ten-foot ceiling, massive bedrooms (4 identical master suites with king-size beds) and spacious decks overlooking the river.
Luxuries and amenities of The Skipping Stone include HDTV, DVD collection, Wii and XBox available, excellent kitchenware and dinnerware, stainless steel appliances and satellite with tons of premium movie channels. The gorgeous view, sounds of the rushing river and gentle breezes make dinner on the deck an unforgettable experience.
This million-dollar-plus lodge was completed in 2006 with no detail overlooked. Treat yourself to something truly special, the very best of settings and accommodations, a home you will definitely want to return to again and again.

Skipping stone is truly an impressive house. The bedrooms are very large en-suites with jetted tubs/separate showers. A nice retreat if needed. The house is large and comfortably accommodated 9 of us on our recent trip. There is a floor for kids which is excellent, and a floor with games; pool table, ski-ball, poker table and theater seating. As impressive as that area was, we never used it, as we spent all our time outside. The river is amazing. The covered porches are expansive and comfortable. The covered pavilion, complete with spa tub (not all jets work however), large fireplace and over-sized picnic table, is were we spent time when not enjoying the river. The house comes with river tubes and plenty of noodles for enjoying the rapids and water. Fish were caught every time (and released). It was truly an incredible experience. But seriously...that driveway is no joke! It rained many times during our week stay, and we opted not to attempt it while wet, as it was a challenge while dry. That will not stop us from returning to skipping stone, however.

Just returned from a long weekend stay at this property. There is no way to put into words how much we loved our few days there.
If you love a peaceful serene setting, it doesn't get any better than this.. The outdoor spaces are perfect. My husband loved fishing in the stream that runs right in front of the house (trout). If you don't want to fish the owners have put chairs down beside the river you can relax in. There is also a fire pit area between the house and the river to enjoy. Bring your own wood or gather it from the woods. Then there are the porches that span the entire length of the house. Just pick from one of the many chairs and relax while watching the stream and listen to its peaceful bubbling. The porch on the main level extends into a huge covered outdoor area which has a large swim spa, grilling area, huge picnic table, and very beautiful large stone fireplace with chairs around it. Nothing has been omitted or overlooked!
The kitchen is well stocked with good pots, pans, mixing bowls, silverware, plates, glasses, etc. We had everything we needed. Everyone thought their beds slept well. We had plenty of towels. The area on the top level for the kiddos is unlike anything I have ever seen in a private home. My 10 Yyo nephew hardly came down. The floors, walls, and ceilings are covered in colorful foam play mats. There are 4 little cubbies for sleeping, little tunnel like areas, Xbox, Play Station, Wii (bring your own favorite games). Sadly it appears renters have not taken care of the games the owners have provided.
This is an excellent property for a large family gathering, girl friends outing, friends and family outing etc. Plenty of room to have some quiet time or all gather together. Grocery store is an easy 6 or so mile drive. Take some jigsaw puzzles, cards, games, book to read and enjoy a little slice of heaven.
We certainly look forward to a return visit for an entire week next time.

The sounds of the river were so relaxing, and the cabin was exactly how it was described. Beautifully decorated and clean as a whistle. My 5 kids enjoyed the third level with all the tunnels for hours. The swim spa and back porch was where everyone hung out mostly all week. The large table and extra chairs were a nice touch.

We enjoyed our time at the house. The king suites were really spacious and the bathroom amount was great for our group. The fold out couch on the first floor was nasty when we folded it out. There was Cheetos left in the bed, I'm guessing from the last renters. The fire pit outside was really nice and the porch was very roomy. The rooms on the third floor was a little close but for a kid it would probably be great..

Perfect Family Vacation
This property is even more magical than anticipated !! We were looking for a peaceful getaway from the hustle of everyday life and the Skipping Stone delivered. The four master bedrooms gave everyone just enough privacy while the abundant common spaces gave us quality family time. My adult children were very impressed that Mom was able to find a place like this! There were so many opportunities to be entertained right at the property we only left a few times for park hikes. The location is prime with the beautiful river right outside your door rippling over the rocks making a soothing sound that lulled everyone into relaxation. Definitely a place I would love to visit again.

Every one has room
We loved the property. Loved all the balconies, loved all the bedrooms, loved the secluded yet convenient location. Loved seeing river otters, beaver, heron and eagle. Access to the water was challenging, and the property is not situated for hiking or walks. Although there are multiple TVs and game systems, connecting is slow. So, stay here to interact with your group, find some quiet time for yourself, engage in what the river brings you.

Great place for a family to all get together and have a blast. Close enough drive to downtown Gatlinburg but the feel of being isolated.

My family loved staying in this beautiful, spacious house. The river running by was so relaxing and the long porch on the first and second floor were perfect to enjoy the view. The strip at Gatlinburg was about a twenty minute drive, but after being here you will likely find yourself wanting to cook and stay in! Thanks for a much needed break and a great family weekend!

Beautiful place and something for everyone.
The home is beautiful with four large master suites and a kids play area upstairs. For those with disabilities, there was a ramp leading into the home and two bedrooms located on that level. The deck was also on that same level so you can easily get outside to the wonderful fireplace and swimspa without navigating stairs. It was also located right on the river which was just beautiful. You could enjoy hearing the river rushing past the rapids upstream. In front of the house was a calm area on the river and we enjoyed two geese who kept coming back. The kids enjoyed fishing and our gamer enjoyed all the games upstairs. There is something for everyone at this cabin.

Great location!!
We had a wonderful stay! Had kids ranging from 8 to 3. Loved the 3rd floor play area! Only complaint for it was that it was very hot up there. They couldn't sleep there the first night due to that. The river was a fun place for kids to play and fish as well as relaxing to listen to with a nice cup of coffee in the mornings. We would definitely stay again!

Relaxing Vacation Home
This is the 2nd time we've stayed at this home. It's beautifully decorated and the location is fabulous! You get the sound of the rapids in stereo and you're only about 15 minutes from all of the shopping if that's what you want to do. The washing machine needs some attention, but other than that, we had a wonderful time on our family vacation! Hope we can come back again soon.

Better than pictures or description!! Perfect for multiple families with kids:-)
We had a really nice stay. 2 families with three kids. The river runs right along the entire back of the property and the kids loved exploring around even in the snow. The outdoor pavilion has a huge swimspa that we basically used as a Jacuzzi. In fact, we never used the additional Jacuzzi on the lower level because the wood burning fireplace (the owners even arranged for wood to be delivered!) near the Swimspa in the pavilion was just too awesome.
Inside the house, the fireplace set the mood while everything we needed was provided in the kitchen. There are four identical master suites with bathrooms and jetted tubs so there was no akward "who gets the nice bedroom" upon arrival. The kids loved the third floor game room and maze. There is a huge long section of tunnels on the third floor with TV rooms and video games that could not be cooler for kids and tweens.
The location was really nice. In an area with other million dollar homes and very easy to get to from Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge - maybe a 15 minute drive from either. We have stayed at probably 10 cabins in the area and this was by far the best for a larger group. We will definitely come again.
The owners of the cabin really went out of their way to make sure everything was ready when we got there and perfect for our stay. We will be back!!!

Most beautiful view EVER!
My family and I stayed at the cabin for two nights...not long enough!! The cabin was unbelievable. First of all, the living areas are huge, the kitchen is well stocked, and the master bedrooms are the biggest I've ever stayed in. My three favorite things about this place were: 1) The view. I love the mountains and any type of water view so I knew this was going to be my kind of place. But I didn't expect the privacy, proximity to the river, and gorgeous views from every room. The river was partly frozen during our visit (which was beautiful)...I can't wait to go back and enjoy the river in warm weather!; 2) the playroom on the third level was PHENOMENAL. The pictures don't do it justice. The tunnels were SO MUCH FUN...even for the adults! The kids were so entertained. The bed cubbies were so cool and there were three flat screen TVs on this floor alone! (Although I don't think they got used very much because of everything else to do!); and 3) The huge side deck with outdoor fireplace, comfortable seating, and enormous swim spa. Also, the location is great...far enough from everything to feel complete privacy yet close enough to be convenient to Gatlinburg, Arts & Crafts District, etc.
This house has EVERYTHING. I would go back in a heartbeat and will most definitely be recommending it to everyone I know.

AMAZING place to stay!
I am hesitant to write a review because I don't want too many people to know about this place, but I feel I need to because our stay was so fabulous. Our party consisted of 3 families, 6 adults and 6 kids all between 2-4 years old. We previously vacationed together at a different location and it was a disaster because of bad lodging set-up. This place, on the other hand, was perfect. We were delighted that each bed/bath felt so private, but that it was still so easy to hang out together and enjoy the common space. The decks are amazing...great place to drink your morning coffee, great place for the kids to safely run laps. The outdoor space with the swim spa and fireplace is wonderful. We were very happy to find that the river is indeed totally accessible, even for the little ones. Within minutes of our arrival we were all in the river skipping stones (no joke) and the kids played often. Husbands loved to fish, and one even caught a trout right in front of the house! Adults loved the tubing. And the view up and down the river was beautiful and calming. But the best part for us was the 3rd floor. The pictures and descriptions do not do the tunnel justice, and the kids played for hours and hours everyday. It was just perfect for our families. To sum it up, we all had planned to take excursions around the area everyday, but only ended up leaving a time or two because this place has it all, no need to go anywhere else! One of the most relaxing vacations any of us have ever had, and that's saying something with 6 little ones running about. Can not wait to go back.

Hands Down, Best Cabin!
There were two families (four adults, two teens and 5 kids total) in our group. We only stayed 3 nights and that was not long enough. The kids absolutely LOVED the 3rd floor. The "tunnels" were much more expansive than they appear in the photos. The entire cabin was very nicely decorated. The kids spent a lot of time in the swim spa and then making s'mores by the fireplace. The river was spectacular! I wish it was a little warmer so we could have played in it.
If you like to hike, Hen Wallow Falls in Cosby is magnificent! It took our group a total of 4 hours roundtrip, but it was worth it.
The only negatives I can think of about the cabin are: 1. They need to install screen doors so you can leave the sliding glass doors open to hear the river. 2. There were wasps in the kids' area on the 3rd floor 3. Plan to bring extra towels, kitchen towels, and blankets if you plan to use the sofa-beds.
Overall, this is the best cabin we've stayed in (and we've stayed in many). Next time, we'll plan a longer trip.

Beautiful Setting
This is truly a spectacular location in Gatlinburg. We were a group of eight friends that enjoyed the setting, the spacious rooms and the awesome outdoors deck. The swing is no longer present (or we couldn't find it), but that didn't matter with all of the other things to do. The swim spa is fantastic!! The beds are so very comfortable and can't say enough about all of the games (Ms Pacman tourneys galore). The movie theater chairs with big screen tv....what can we say. Would suggest bringing your own DVDs as the collection is limited. Have stayed at many homes, but this kitchen is one of the best stocked for cookware, utensils, etc.; bring a few extra dishtowels! We would love to return in the future. Fox Mountain ziplines are great and not too far from this locale. Great trip!
