Loved the property and location to the creek. Owners very accommodating. Pictures posted don't do it justice. We are outdoorsy people and packed in all we could. Thank you for sharing your home to us. C.B.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin and in Bayfield. The creek next to the cabin was a delight and the kids enjoyed spending time there. We also rented ATVs less than five minutes away. Durango is about 45 min away for other options!
The cabin provided everything we needed for our family of 5.

This rental was very convenient to access the lake and camping grounds. It’s in a central location where you can enjoy all that’s around Vallecito. Very homey, cozy cabin.

My children and I stayed here over the weekend. It was beautiful and the home was very cozy and clean. We will definitely visit again.

Beautiful location! Large Lot near the creek. The cabin is in a residential area but not just any ordinary residential area it’s covered in forest and feels like your camping (glamping) in the wilderness. We saw deer , a skunk ( minding his own business and waddling along, so sweet!) wild turkeys. Love falling asleep at night to the sound of the creek. Enjoyed our stay and wished we could stay longer!!

Hunted out of this cabin during 1st rifle elk season and it was perfect. Comfy and spacious enough for 2 of us to spread out and not be on top of each other with all our gear. Would love to go back and just enjoy the area more. The creek area is beautiful.

Great place to stay with great views. Creek near by to wet a hook or to just soak in the sights. Home is very clean and as advertised.

So peaceful. The river beauty was the key, but quiet neighborhood, privacy, people in town, close to other day trips. Small, but comfortable accommodations. Perfect for two.
Only comment would be to put a table on deck for outside dining.
We loved it!!

Very clean and pride in ownership. Also it was so quiet as it is the last cabin so you don’t have any through traffic etc. Enjoyed a family holiday weekend and it was perfect! Joan was so helpful over the phone and her son Jeff was awesome too at the property. Would definitely recommend this location to rent. Kitchen was well stocked with all the necessities.

This was a lovely, quiet cabin with nice access to Vallecito Creek. It was a beautiful place to come back to each afternoon after various Colorado adventures. It was well-stocked, clean, and comfortable, in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. Thank you for providing such a nice place to use as our home base for the week!

The five of us spent the first week of our southwest Colorado adventure just outside Mancos as part of a group of 14 between the ages of 3 and 74. We were busy. Saw a lot. Did a lot. Wonderful times but whew exhausting.
And so Jennifer and I and our three headed to Crosshouse Cabin to skip stones in the creek, picnic along the lake, enjoy a morning kayak on the shimmering lake, stroll the neighborhood in the evenings. Just lovely. Just gorgeous. The cabin was comfortable and well equipped. Good DVD collection, satellite tv, wi-fi. Important stuff I suppose. But what I'll remember- and I pray that the kids do as well- is the scent of spruce, the babble of the creek, sights of deer and chipmunks, you know just being out in the grandeur of the Rockies. The cabin was perfect to exoerience this and we are grateful to have enjoyed the cabin.

This place is a gem by the creek!! The owners were very kind and great communicators. The place was so clean and tidy upon arrival. A few yards from the creek/river was a dream!!! Plenty of room on deck to enjoy the outdoors with a cozy firepit in the adjacent yard. Location was great to the stores and restaurants, and the lake as well. Just cant say enough good. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Will stay again. Only thing I can think of to change would be better furniture on deck. Otherwise excellent and Jane was easy to contact and helpful. Thank you.

Great quiet two week getaway
We loved the location away from Durango. We found many hikes to keep us busy. Loved the cool evenings and mornings. Had lunch at the Country Market and dinner at the Woodside grill. Both were great.

Cozy cabin, beautiful location
Perfect location outside of town/main cities. The cabin was cozy, had everything we needed. My boys loved being upstairs in their own rooms. Beautiful scenery, fast flowing creek, lots of wildlife to listen and watch (vocal squirrels right outside the door, and deer). Even though it was a 40-45 minute drive to Durango, it was a beautiful drive each time (saw turkey's, racoons, foxes, deer). There are 2 country market stores near the cabin or you would drive to town to get your groceries.. My family had a wonderful vacation! Would highly recommend for relaxation and for out of town feel!

Wonderful cabin
We rented this cabin for extra beds and an extra kitchen for a nearby family reunion. The property was, as expected, clean and cute. I would recommend this as a great family-friendly place to stay if you are looking to explore the beautiful surrounding area.

Beautiful location!
Our family of four plus two grandparents had so much fun staying at this location. Joan was so kind and easy to work with. The house was super clean and just what we needed for our stay. It was a great place to stay when wanting to take day trips then come back and relax. We saw mule deer, elk and even antelope on some of those day trips. So much fun!

Great stay and excellent location!
A group of us travel to Bayfield every year to enjoy the local four wheeling trails. We love this location because it is right by all of our favorite spots, easy parking for our trailer and excellent host as she was very accommodating. We will definitely love to come back next year!

Cabin on Vallecito Creek
The cabin was very comfortable and clean. We loved being so close to the creek. My only complaint would be that I wish the listing was a little more forthcoming with the fact that the cabin is located in a development.

Cabin was very nice and as pictured. Lovely in the trees and a short distance to the river as well.
Beautiful setting with River within a few steps. Kids loved playing in the rocks and seeing a mother deer a d her fawns. Two young male deer walked through the yard. Antlers in velvet. Just beautiful! Very enjoyable and our family of seven were very comfortable. .

Awesome location, with some TLC would be perfect!
Location and setting is wonderful! Property was very well cleaned which is always hit or miss with vacation rentals so was very appreciated. The creek was perfect and the cabin is very close to Vallecito lake if you’re wanting to do some kayaking or paddle boarding.
A few things would keep us from coming back to this location; mostly that the furnishings all seemed to be very 3 or 4th hand or garage sale quality which meant: the beds were extremely worn out and leaves your lower back sore, even my very physically fit 12 year old said she had trouble sleeping because her (upstairs) bed drooped so much, so did our master bed. The tv sound is poor quality, it will get really quiet then really loud, over and over again. The oven seemed to have trouble holding a steady temperature, the dining room table has a pretty severe lean and doesn’t fit the space well. As a side note, there is no cell service and no wifi, but there is satellite tv...we would have absolutely preferred wifi instead of satellite so we could at least check in with home without driving 20+ minutes to town. The living room chair also makes your back sit in a weird way. If you want to relax next to the creek, bring your own camp chairs as there are only flimsy plastic chairs on the deck. With some furniture upgrade this place would be a 10/10!

Perfect-Not Pricey
This little cabin was perfect for my family of 4. We needed something close to Lake Vallecito and this was a great location without paying “on the lake “prices. All the essentials were met or exceeded. We left windows open for cool mornings and comfortable evenings. Upstairs got hot during the day but cooled quickly after sundown. We were out most of the time , so things like hot water for showers, washer/dryer and sleep were our priorities. Bathroom space is functional and hot water plentiful. We slept well with the sound of the creek close by and left the house unlocked most of the time with no concerns. The little markets nearby had most of what we needed for supplies, including Boars Head ham and cheese, fresh watermelon and ice cream. While in the area, I highly suggest tubing in Durango down the Animas river. We did a 4 hour float down a peaceful section that ended with some fun-faster moving water. You could easily get off the river before rapids and the trip would be fine for older and younger folks. Also suggest Narrow Gauge Train to Silverton and a sunrise drive to Lion’s Den at Fort Lewis College to watch as Durango wakes in the morning. Best coffee and pastry- Durango Joe’s. Great burger at Grassburger.

Peaceful mountain oasis
Our family had a fantastic time at this simple cabin in the mountains. We loved the beautiful, scenic spot alongside the bubbling stream. It was peaceful, private, and just what our family of 5 needed.
The owners were extremely responsive and kind.
