FAQs:
Q: Can you rent boats nearby?
A: Yes, Mitchell's Point marina is about 2 miles away, they rent pontoon and ski boats
Q: Why are guests required to bring their own linens, sheets and towels?
A: Nearly all guests prefer to bring their own for convenience and cost savings. Same for trash bags, paper products etc.
Q: Can you supply linens, sheets and towels for an extra fee?
A: No, but there are linen services there who are happy to arrange that for you.
Q: Is there anything nearby - stores, wineries, restaurants, marinas etc.?
A: Yes! The White House store-snack bar-gas station is about 6 miles away. Hickory Hill Vineyards and Ramulose Ridge Vineyards are about 11 miles away, and Mitchell's Point marina & restaurant about 2 miles away. Many others a little further.
Q: What's the nearest channel marker? Where is the house located on the lake?
A: The nearest channel markers are R1 and W1, which are close to the dam and the largest, deepest part of the lake. Shorewood Cove is in the Mountain View Shores neighborhood southeast of the State Park. The house is in a quiet cove and close to the best fishing, boating, and water sports area on the entire lake.
Q: I love to fish, drink beer, and lie about both. Do I need a fishing license?

Excellent vacation home. Very comfortable and well equipped. The attention to details to help the visitor was outstanding, particularly appreciated the labeled light switches and QR codes to valuable information. Communication with owners before and after say was outstanding

You can’t go wrong staying at this home tucked away on the cove. We were pleased with how clean and inviting the house was when we arrived. There was plenty of room for our family of five. The kitchen was well equipped so we could prepare all our meals avoiding going out and missing anytime relaxing. The owners were very responsive to any questions and were easy to communicate with both prior to our stay and during our visit. We will certainly be back.

One of the reasons we chose this property was the ease of access to the lake. We appreciated the platform 'steps' with handrails, and all the wonderful 'toys' that were included (kayaks, floats, life vests etc.) I always study the photos carefully before renting. We don't want a home filled with leftover furniture and Goodwill finds! John & Michelle's place is tastefully
decorated and very welcoming and everything was fresh and clean. Our hosts were very kind and responsive to the few questions we had. We couldn't have enjoyed our time at SML more!

We came to the area to visit our son. This was a truly amazing place. It was clean and spacious, with nice amenities. The house itself is quite comfortable and has a fun game room. The highlight is the lake access and immediate availability of kayaks and paddleboards. Also they provide the life jackets. The owners are very responsive and available- though we did not need anything because it is all set up so well!

Such a lovely and comfortable home! The hosts are super accommodating and set up a pack and play and high chair ahead of time once I asked about the items. New addition of ping pong, ladder, and ice maker since I last stayed at this home. A lovely and well maintained dock on the best part on the lake!

Our group of 6 adults stayed for our yearly reunion at 110 Shorewood. John & Michelle, the owners were great to communicate with, the property was in a beautiful setting within a quite lakefront cove perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing! We had a really big one get away,,,no really we did !! Should have had the net ready. The kitchen had everything you need and then some, there was plenty of seating in the living areas, the beds were comfy cozy, bathrooms clean, and a perfect view of the lake from the screened in porch, balcony or the high dock.
The lake water was crystal clear and fairly warm for a mountain lake. Kayaking and paddle boarding off of the dock was a breeze, and floating on a noodle even easier.
We highly recommend this property for any active water loving group, or just to relax, read a book in the quiet of nature, and watch the deer walk by.

We had three-generations of family with three teens and had a great time. House was super clean and the hosts were wonderful and very attentive. Would highly recommend!

This house was really nice in all the right areas. Private with some action in the cove, just enough. The view from the upper deck is very nice. The house was very clean. The mattresses were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was like being in my own, very well supplied in every category! It was overall a very relaxing stay. I would definitely book this spot again!

This was our first time visiting Smith Mountain Lake and we had a great time. The house was in a great location, comfortable, and well equipped for our family of 5. Having access to the kayaks and paddle boards was a huge benefit and one of the reasons we initially chose to stay here. Our favorite place was to spend time was the screened porch when we weren’t out on the boat or playing in the water. There is a close by marina for boat rentals that also has a restaurant and ice cream. We also enjoyed an impromptu fishing trip with the neighbor. We will be back for sure!

Wonderful place- even my kids agreed! So relaxing and peaceful. The home was beautiful and well stocked. Our favorite was the screened in porch we ate all our meals there, especially the night it rained to be able to hear the rain. ** Bonus all the extra fun provided with the kayaks, paddle boards, floats ( plenty of lifejackets provided) and the ping pong and foosball tournaments in the evenings when it got dark, kept the kids quite entertained and some of the adults. Definitely will be booking this again in the future! Thank you John and Michelle for being wonderful hosts, and responding to my numerous questions before booking.🙂

The property was exactly as described. Super clean and organized. There were notes and instructions for everything from light switches to the grill maintenance. It was so helpful to have them. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would stay again!

Had an awesome stay at the lake house. The weather wasn’t great but there was enough to do in the house to keep the kids entertained. Bring your groceries because the store isn’t exactly close. The neighborhood boat ramp made it easy to load and unload our boat and keep it at the dock directly behind the house. Really enjoyed the stay overall and will be going back to Smith Mountain Lake in the future

We stayed here for a girls weekend and it was fantastic. We loved the dock, kayaks, fire table and stocked kitchen. It was extremely clean and comfortable (and we are pretty picky about cleanliness). One thing I will note is that there are NOT 4 bedrooms, there are only 3 actual bedrooms. One area is a loft at the top of the steps that connects to the other upstairs bedroom via a bathroom. This did not detract from our stay but just know this if you are looking for 4 actual bedrooms. Otherwise, we loved our stay. Owners are very kind and communicate well. It’s a bit of a pain to bring your own sheets, towels and paper products but this place is worth the effort so don’t let that inhibit you.

Shorewood Cove is absolutely perfect. The location was awesome and the cove it was located in is so nice and quiet. The house is huge and has so much room. It was very clean and had so many amenities. If I ever need a house at SML again, I will definitely rent this one. The owners are super nice and had great communication with us through out our stay.

We had a great time at SML in this rental. It was spacious and everything they listed was there. We even had an issue with the water one day and the owners promptly responded and provided us extra water while the problem was being fixed. We will totally stay here again!

This property provided the perfect environment for our family vacation. With all queen size beds, everyone enjoyed equal comfort! The house was clean, accommodating, and well equipped. The owners were very gracious and communicated just the right amount. A couple of nice pieces of advice added some real value to our stay. This is an ideal spot on the lake and the cove is perfect.
I highly recommend this spot. You won't be disappointed.

This was our second summer at this home! Lovely peaceful home with beautiful views! Extremely well stocked kitchen and home! The owners truly have everything set up perfectly with impressive attention to detail! The layout is very open on the main level with a comfortable screened in porch! The beds are all very comfortable! The top dock was a must for us, with a little one. We were able to block off the stairs and have a safe area on the water. Very nice comfortable chairs on the dock! With our growing families we unfortunately won’t be able to book this house next year! It will be challenging for find a larger house to measure up!

We had a wonderful week staying here! It is a beautiful property, very peaceful and private. We loved the screened in porch to have morning coffee, play games, and spend time as a family. Owners were very responsive to any questions we had. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need! We enjoyed using the kayaks, paddle boards, and floats to have fun in the water.
Highly recommend staying here for a relaxing vacation!

Summer vacation
John and Michelle have everything you need to have the perfect summer getaway. We never had to leave the house. The use of the kayaks and paddle boards were a great amenity. John and Michelle were very thorough and have literally thought of everything! The house layout gives everyone enough space and the neighbors in the cove are so friendly and were even willing to share a few fishing secrets :) We can’t wait to plan our next trip!

Perfect Everything
We loved staying in this house. The location was perfect (so close to Mitchell’s marina & the dam), the neighbors were very friendly, & the house had everything we needed. The only thing we weren’t aware of was that there wasn’t a door to the 2-queen loft upstairs. That made sleeping arrangements change a bit since we had two toddlers with us, but that was only a minor hiccup. The walk to the dock was excellent, especially for my elderly in-laws. Not too many steps & not too steep. Communication with the owners was exceptional! We would definitely stay again!

Perfect Stay
Great house and cove to be in. House was super and very well organized to eliminate any questions we had. Owner was very communicative and checked in on us multiple times. House was very much like home and kids did not want to leave at the end of the week. Absolutely recommend! Thanks John and Michelle!

Exceptional Experience
This is one of the best properties we have ever had the pleasure to stay at. The place was spotless. I have never experienced the attention to detail the owner took to be sure you knew where everything was, how to use it and useful tips on the property. The location was great, on a quiet inlet. We found two very good restaurants within about 20 minutes. I could go on, but the fact we are already planning our return trip says it all.

Perfect Getaway!
Shorewood Cove did not disappoint! We soaked up lots of sun on the top dock, kayaked/SUP, fished, listened to the rain in the screened in porch and cooked some amazing meals in the well stocked kitchen! The house was clean and comfortable! We had the best time and will for sure stay again in the future.
