About this house rental
We'd love to share our home with you! Why stay cramped in hotel rooms when you can come back home every night? We love hosting families or group gatherings, whether its touring Old Town and DC, reunions, attending a wedding or graduation or visiting your local friends and relatives. We spend as much time here as we can, when guests like you are not staying.
A perfect base for exploring the area, but the house is also walking distance to one the area's best locations -- Old Town Alexandria. Its a stone's throw from the Capitol, minutes to Reagan National airport, and just steps away from everything Old Town Alexandria has to offer. This is not a sterile hotel room or bland corporate lodging, it's really like visiting a friend's place. You will look forward to returning home during your stay.
The house is a historic 1850s home which we've updated to modern standards. On Queen Street, it is just steps away from the center of Old Town Alexandria. Unlike most homes in Old Town, this house is large and spacious, spread out over 2600 square feet of living space. A great place to gather your friends and family. Plan your dinner out in Old Town or cook a meal at home in the well appointed full sized kitchen. There is room to spend time together in the large living room, basement family room, or out back on the private patio and yard. With multiple spaces, you decide whether to hang our together or in smaller groups.
The house also includes a private fenced yard for relaxing or playing corn hole and a beautiful patio. There is off street parking for your cars, you won't need them here.
The large house has been renovated and modernized from top to bottom with gorgeous details throughout -- crown molding, built in bookshelves, exposed brick, working fireplace, full sized stocked kitchen. We live in the nearby suburbs but often stay here ourselves and know you will feel like its your home away from home too.
Perfect for families or groups with plenty of space to spread out in. The house has three bedrooms and has room to sleep 12. Two bedrooms on the second floor each have queen beds, the basement includes a family room and separate bedroom with 2 double beds. In addition, there is sleeping for two more on a futon couch in the attic media room. An additional pull out sofa in the main floor living room will accommodate 2. You will need to do upstairs or downstairs to the bedrooms, sorry, there are no bedrooms on the main level.
Large comfy finished basement also has TV and room to relax on the large sectional couch. Clawfoot tubs and showers in the 2 modern full baths, and one additional 1/2 bath. Hard to find in Old Town, is the large fenced yard with beautiful private outdoor patio for you to relax. A great place for a cook out, or use our corn hole set while sitting around the fire pit on a chilly fall night. There is also a playground and basketball court right at the corner.
To explore Old Town, you won't need your car. We are just two blocks from King Street, which is the main street through Old Town. Its just a few minute walk to sights, shops, restaurants, and nightlife. If you feel lazy, there is the free Old Town Trolley that goes the length of King Street, stopping at both the King Street metro station and the waterfront There is a stop every few blocks, just hop on and you can ride down to the waterfront. City Bike rental stations are also nearby. Its easy to go out and enjoy all the great shops, historic sites and restaurants in Old Town.
The metro is also just five blocks away for easy access to downtown DC. And we have off street parking for 2 cars accessed through the alley. The house also has cable, high speed wi-fi internet, and laundry.
We love staying here but don't just take it from us, please read through the reviews from our previous guests.

Alexandria is a town oozing with charm and filled with so much fascinating history. With 3 sons (one teen, 2 adults) we were pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get around and at times do our own thing without any worries.
Catching the metro to Washington was easy and quick. Our home provided ample room for our family and was deceptively bigger than it looks from the street & extremely well appointed. Would highly recommend & haven’t ruled out visiting again one day :)

Nice space, great location. Easy in to DC or hop on the trolley and enjoy Alexandria. Kids had their own space for the adults to catch up after bedtime. Lovely all around.

What a wonderful find! The house was beautiful, comfortable and stocked with everything you could possibly need. We took advantage of the central location. Exploring King st by foot and trolley. Mastered the metro into DC, enjoying the fireworks and the museums.
I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to spend the 4th of July, and my birthday with my family. It was a vacation that I will always treasure. I highly recommend this property and our hosts, Jaki and Don. They were so accommodating and truly generous hosts.

House was beautiful and very comfortable. Well supplied kitchen and towels. The back yard was perfect of our father's day cook out. Easy walk to the waterfront. Many shops and restaurants.

We loved our stay in Old Town Alexandria! It was so nice to have a home base while we explored DC and the surrounding area! We loved that we could walk for coffee in the morning and walk to quaint ice cream parlors in the evening! We also loved that this property had parking and a yard!! We would rent this property again and refer family and friends to it!

We absolutely loved this property and location! We had a mini family reunion, with a 2 year old up to an 80 year old, including young adults and everyone enjoyed the house/yard/location!
Beds were comfy, whole house was clean, tons of extras in the kitchen that are typically not available in rentals. The yard and patio were an added bonus and allowed us to play with the 2 year old as well as eat a meal on the patio.
We took advantage of the close proximity to King St and walked there several times, as well as the great park on the corner. The neighborhood was quiet and seemed very safe.
Owners were very responsive and check in/out was super easy. Also appreciated how close we were to DCA. Highly recommend this property!

Location was good, house was fine. A little disappointed in the property managers.. we had issues with all the toilets not flushing and asked them to call a plumber. Instead, they called us and instructed us on how to repair them. A little bizarre to be expected to fix a stranger’s toilets on our vacation.

What a wonderful gem we found for a mini family reunion. There was plenty of space for the 6 of us and the location was incredible. Easy to get to the metro everyday and easy to find delicious food at night on Kings street. Easy to communicate with our wonderful hosts. Highly recommend!
(Don Taco was our favorite restaurant)

One of the best homes we've ever stayed in! House had everything we needed - layout was great, especially having multiple gathering places, and owners supplied everything from shampoo and body wash to serving plates and measuring spoons. It was a great place for our extended family to come together for Thanksgiving and explore the DC area. Convenient parking, short walk to Metro, multiple grocery stores nearby, plus coffee shops and fun shopping on King Street. We hope to stay here again!

This was a great house to host 9 people. Plenty of space and equipped with everything you need. Easily walkable to downtown Alexandria/King Street area. The outside area was great. We took advantage of the grill and fire pit. Plenty of seating outside and inside.
The pictures on line do not do the place justice! Very nicely decorated and updated. We would definitely stay here again.

This property was really beautiful. It was the perfect size for 6 adults and 3 small children. Everything we needed was in the house. The central location allowed for an easy walk to grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, etc. We needed to get to D.C. for a marathon so it was a great location for metro access as well. We'll definitely be back next year...if it's available!!!

Everything was just as advertised, very well appointed with pretty much anything you could think of. It felt like our home away from home. Safe area, very clean, easy to communicate with owners, very excellent stay! Our two families of 9 people had plenty of room to spread out, and we had a great time!

We stayed at this house while sightseeing in DC. Extremely clean house with all the amenities that we needed. Easy access to DC via Metro. Great restaurants within walking or trolley distance. Owners easy to work with and responsive.

What an amazing house! This was by far the best VRBO we have had. We were dropping my daughter off at college and we decided to do a mini family reunion in the DC area. We had our parents from PA, my family from Missouri and my brother’s family from Oregon. The location was perfect for us to grab the metro into DC each day. King Street was just a few blocks over and had a ton of great shops and restaurants. We easily walked to the waterfront and took the water taxi over to DC to see the monuments lit up at night. The house was exactly as described and came with anything and everything we needed for our stay. Since we were all coming from out of town, that made our stay so much easier. The owners were incredibly responsive and you can tell they put a lot of love into their home. We would definitely stay in this home again! Thanks for making the drop off of our daughter at college so memorable!!

This property was exactly what we were looking for. The house was beautiful and provided easy access to everything we needed. We were about .5 miles from 3 different Metro stops and only a short walk to King street where we were able to access the trolley that runs throughout the day.

We stayed here for a week and used it as our base to go down to DC. For that purpose, it was a little far to walk (12 minutes each way) to the metro every day. But the location with regards to Old Town Alexandria is great. House had everything we needed (we did borrow a pack n play from a nearby friend) and felt clean and comfortable.

We had a perfect trip to,visit Washington with my grandkids and family.this large home offers a short walk to catch free trolly or bus to metro. It goes all the way to the water on the other end of King Street. Lovely shops, restaurants, anything you could imagine. Our car stayed parked most of the week. We bought unlimited metro pass and it worked great, metro employee was a great help with purchasing our tickets. 5 stars

We had a great vacation while staying at this house. It's a perfect spot for day trips into D.C and Old Town Alexandria is full of things to do. We definitely recommend this house for anyone looking for a clean, roomy and well stocked home for a getaway.

We had family in town for my daughter's graduation from GWU. 3 couples stayed at the house and it was very comfortable with both group and private space. We hosted a dinner for a larger group on the patio and it was perfect. The kitchen is very well appointed and easy to work in. Thanks for helping make our event memorable.

This property is perfect for a stay in the DC area. It had everything we needed for our stay and wasn't too far from the metro station. We are already planning another stay so we can explore more. Communication with the property owner before our trip was great and we had no issues during our stay.

This VRBO is located in Old Town Alexandria, VA. was top-notch. We had eight adults and two children in our family. The VRBO had enough room for all ten and could have taken two more on the living room pull-out. This home is not only appealing, but comfortable, clean to a fault, and relaxing. It had every amenity possible from kids games, to board games, multiple TVs, and a backyard perfect for relaxing. We were within walking distance to King St. and the Metro. Lastly, the hosts were very accommodating, professional and friendly. This location made for my Army retirement time to be perfect and memorable! Thank you, Donald and Jaki! We hope to see you again!

This home was a perfect landing place for two families with young children as we toured the DC area. Plenty of space for all of us, a 10 minute walk to the Metro and steps away from all that Old Town Alexandria has to offer. We'd stay here again!

We highly recommended this house! Very clean and in good shape. Kids (10 and 7) stayed in the bunk bed room downstairs and loved having their own family room right next to them to lounge around in. The adults hung out in the living room on the main floor when we weren't outside sitting around the fire and enjoying the yard and patio. Kitchen was fully equipped am free bathrooms included shampoo, conditioner and body wash. 10 minute walk to Metro and then about 25-35 minute ride to DC attractions.

We love this home so much we will be booking again in the future. We would give it 10 stars if we could! The location is perfect and the the house is welcoming and comfortable. We were able to see the sites in DC & Old Town and spend quality time together. When they say you only need your toothbrush, they mean it!

Best house on the block! Wonderful home in Old Town Alexandria with easy access to all the amenities on King Street. Home was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for an amazing weekend celebrating a surprise 30th birthday with friends. Hope to come back in warmer weather to use the backyard!

This is a wonderful home in a great location. If anyone is going to Old Town Alexandria and has a party that fits there, there is no better spot.

Great home base for our family trip to DC. We were able to do everything on our list! 10 minute walk to metro, with fun restaurants and shops all along the way. 15 minute drive to Mt Vernon. Hosts made the process super easy, and we will definitely stay here again when we visit DC.

Beautiful updated historical home in an excellent location, both to explore Old Town, but also very easy access to Reagan airport and DC sites. Kids as always loved the bunk bed in basement, all 4 of my kids could have slept there if needed (double over double). Well stocked kitchen. Two nice full baths (basement and 2nd floor). Very nice outdoor space. Quiet neighborhood and felt very safe. Especially appreciated the Christmas decorations since we were there over the holiday.
5.0
We particularly appreciated the ability to walk just about anywhere we wanted to go -- stores, restaurants, historical features, river, grocery and drug stores -- plus it was just a pleasant place to go walking and running.
We also greatly appreciated a well-stocked kitchen so we could share meals and entertain people who joined us for an evening: plenty of dishes, glassware, cooking and serving items.
The backyard looked like a nice gathering spot, too, although it was too cold for us to do that. We all appreciated the laundry feature.
My only caution would be that sound travels from top to bottom very easily, so it would be difficult for anyone who needed a quiet space. You could hear the livingroom TV on a low volume all the way up on the third floor.
We definitely recommend 1119 1/2 Queen.

Fantastic location in Old Town- easy walking distance to so many restaurants, shops, etc. House had everything we needed. Beautiful rooms and decorations, great yard, wood burning fireplace and so much more. Very prompt communication from the owners. Everything was clearly labeled in the house (e.g., what the light switches were for). Owners were great to work with. Thank you!

There were 7 of us staying at the house. We had plenty of room! My brother lives in Old Town but his home was under renovation so we needed another place to stay. This home did not disappoint. It was spacious, very clean, had almost everything we needed to cook a thanksgiving meal for 9! Very impressive! Not only was the inside lovely but the outside had a small yard, patio, and fire pit. It was warm enough for us to be outside and we loved it! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
