About this apartment rental
The elegance and the details of the three rooms make this apartment the perfect place for a charming stay.
Each bedroom is spacious and has a private bathroom, air conditioning, tv, and dvd player. In each bedroom there is a queensize bed and a single bed (we can host 3 people in each room). The kitchen is equipped and there is a washer and dryer (sorry, but we do not have a dishwasher).
At the end of the day you can relax in the cosy little library or enjoy the night in town! Some of the best restaurants are just steps around the corner, and so are the shops.

This is a truly special property. Located just steps from Piazza Santo Steffano in the heart of historic Bologna, it sits behind a massive medieval door facing onto the street which opens onto a quiet courtyard. After walking past a sweeping staircase with renaissance statues, you come the door to the apartment, entering into the spacious kitchen / dining room. One of the bedrooms opens off this, and the two others open off the large common room / library which connects to this. The ceilings are high and frescoed. Each bedroom has its own comfortable en suite bath (just beware that the water heaters in each have somewhat limited capacity, so be considerate if you are sharing). It is a perfect base from which to explore the city, and is a very quiet retreat when one grows tired from treading through Bologna's endless cobbled alleyways (each corner bringing a postcard vista). The host is fantastic and very communicative. Can't wait to visit again!

Fantastic historical and expansive and comfortable property in Via Santo Stefano right within walking distance of nearly everything in the grand city of Bologna. We were three couples and all had plenty of room and privacy for our individual needs in the three bedrooms with have ensuite in each. Highly recommended and will definitely return one day when we get back to Bologna. Did not need much contact with owner but met Simone for key handover on first day and he was on time and obliging etc. Only observation is there was no bottle of local Lambrusco in the fridge on arrival !!!

There were five of us as family members with ages from low 30s to 70. There are three bedrooms. It is a lovely large house which allows solitude and togetherness. Beautifully painted high ceilings and very elegant surroundings. Close to public transport and the number of eateries close by is amazing; a great bakery next door to the right, a butcher 100 yards to the left and supermarkets close by. A lovely place to stay!

The property was advertised as a Ancient Historical Palace.
The property was ancient, musty, smelly and mold ridden. The furniture was flea market type. The pictures in the listing were staged. No crisp white linens to be found. The mattresses were sunken in, the day bed was as well. The bath towels were mixed, matched and worn out. There was a considerable amount of mold in the bathroom.
The exterior court yard was a disaster and required a very serious cleaning and makeover.
We had a difficult discussion with the property owner explaining our concerns but she did not want to understand our issues with the property. After a lengthy discussion with the property owner, she just walked away and told us to deal with it. The property owner lived upstairs and was unable to hear our concerns because she lived upstairs and it was her private home.
When we travel it is imperative that we are comfortable. We could not be comfortable at this property.
We did not stay at the property, it was totally unacceptable and we stayed in a hotel during our stay. Booking.com worked with us for over an hour to find accommodations for our 5 adults, we were extremely lucky to find those accommodations so late during the first night of our stay in Italy.
Bologna was great, the food was amazing, JUST DON’T STAY HERE.

The property is quite old but well maintained. Large and comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen somewhat dated but functional

Such a beautiful and historically interesting apartment. The Zucchini Palace was exactly as portrayed. We found it perfect for our 3 couples. Each bedroom was like a separate apartment, large bedrooms and separate bathrooms. The sitting room was so very interesting and the kitchen very welcoming. The large kitchen table was perfect for our evening gatherings after our days of exploring beautiful Bologna. Also, very close to the market area which was full if shops and great places to eat. Ilaria Zucchini was an excellent host, always available to answer questions if needed.

Beautiful palace apartment in a charming district of Bologna with lots of history as well as amazing restaurants and cafes. The only thing that could have made our stay better would have been better/higher-powered air conditioning. In the middle of a heat wave in July, the air conditioning units struggled to provide much relief. The hosts were kind, accommodating, and very responsive. The apartment had everything we needed. Thank you, Ilaria!

Amazing property, perfect location
Casa Zucchini was great. We had 3 adult couples traveling together and this fit perfectly. 3 large bedroom suites with beautiful painted ceilings and separate bathrooms. Lovely common area and separate kitchen with large dining table. Easy 5min walk along the beautiful porticoed sidewalks to Piazza Maggiore. Many restaurants closer than that. Smaller Piazza St. Stefano right outside the door. Only downside was that it was very hot when we visited and the AC in the place couldn't really keep up with the huge rooms so it was still pretty warm inside.

Amazing apartment and phenomenal host!
Ilaria was a great host! Very responsive to messages! The check in and out process was very easy and she was flexible with the times which helped since our train was delayed. Her property is in a great location and it was very easy to walk everywhere. The apartment was very clean and bigger than we thought! It was great for our group of friends! We all felt like we had our own privacy within the apartment.

Spacious historical apartment
Enjoyed our stay at this spacious architectural gem in prime location a minute from Santo Stefano in the heart of Bologna. A bathroom for each room, well stocked kitchen and responsive owner were big pluses. Loved the high ceilings and beautiful frescos! Only negatives are living room furniture is uncomfortable and natural light is limited. Would highly recommend for large families or group of friends.

A perfect base for our first visit to Bologna
What a wonderful apartment for our group's (3 couples) first visit to Bologna. We always take care to find somewhere central and with character when we take our long weekend breaks and this apartment ticks all the boxes. It was a joy to stay within an historic palace and the facilities were perfect for us. We each had our own spacious ensuite room with fabulous ceilings and made good use of the kitchen for lazy breakfasts and a meal in. Ilaria made us very welcome and responded very quickly when we needed help. We really did appreciate this discreet service. Bologna itself is equally warm and welcoming the food is fabulous and people really care about their food. We had 2 fabulous evening meals in drogadia di rosa - literally just around the corner. We enjoyed exploring Bologna and took a train to Modena to visit the Ferrari museum - well worthwhile. Thanks ilaria for a wonderful stay we would love to come back again soon.

This Apartment is wonderfully unique. It's a huge space with frescoed ceilings 18 feet high. There is a huge kitchen/dining area and a charming living room. The 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms are spacious and very comfortable. And the 3 bathrooms are a rare find. Even though we were a family, we all had lots of privacy when needed because the bedrooms are huge and private. There is an enclosed courtyard outside the Apartment where you can stargaze in quiet comfort. The location is great. We walked from the central station (about 25 minutes) over smooth portico covered sidewalks. (Cab fare is about 13 euros). The main Piazza and attractions are easily walkable. There are restaurants and Gelato stands and bakeries everywhere. A full service CooP supermarket is a 3 minute walk from the frontdoor. The owner was very nice, friendly and informative. Ever take a tour of an Italian Villa? Here you are actually staying in a Villa.

This property exceeded all our expectations. We had an exceptional stay only surpassed by the kindness of the owners who bent over backwards to make sure we had a perfect stay. This is equivalent to renting your own floor of an actual palace but with all the modern amenities you could want.Think more than 30ft. celings with paintings on the ceiling but air conditioners that were powerful and quiet. The washer and dryer worked great and the nespresso machine a nice plus. All the windows open (which are huge) so you can have a great cross ventilation too.Extremely conveniently located.Fabulous restaurants all within a block or two.Don't miss Druggerie di la rosa restaurant.Simone ,one of the owners, waited half an hour to escort me and my daughter to a close parking place and then drove us with our luggage to the rental. We can't wait to return.Wonderful CD collection and an amply stocked kitchen.A dream rental!

Beautiful Apartment in great location
One of the highlights of our trip to Italy was Bologna. We definitely want to come back one day. We will make sure that we book this apartment. Everything was great. Very spacious. The pics were true to size which surprised me as most apartments are much smaller when you arrive. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were nice and clean and kitchen had everything we needed. We even ate dinner there one night. You really felt like you were staying in a palace with the frescoes on the ceilings. Location was the best. Ilaria (the owner ) could not have been more accommodating and gracious in anything we needed. She helped with parking our car, suggesting great restaurants off the beaten path and just a kind individual in general. I feel that I need to address the washer as I read another review that said it was a problem. We used the washer three times and we had no problems with it at all. Ours clothes came out clean and no wear or tear at all. We were very appreciative that the apartment had it. I highly recommend booking this apartment if you visit Bologna.

Horrible experience..read all
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I travel constantly and have NEVER given a bad review of any of the places I've stayed until now!
As you enter the courtyard, there is the smell of dank mustiness. You can see that there is a drainage issue as the courtyard is totally unkempt and full of mossy growth. The interior of the apartment is dark and lacks air flow, and the furniture lumpy and uncomfortable. The kitchen had inadequate lighting and needs updating. One of the bathroom showers was so tiny that it could only be used by a child who was under 4' tall and skinny!
But the worst of it, was that the washer or dryer totally RUINED ALL OF MY WHITE CLOTHES!!! Including my 2 favorite pair of AG Jeans and 2 new tops that I bought for the trip. I reported to the owner that the washing machine was banging violently and seemed to be in need of repair. She insisted that this was not a problem. When I took my clothes out of the machines, they were all stained, sprayed with what looked like grease-like stains.
When I let the owner know, she denied that it was her appliances that ruined my clothing! She refused to come down to look at them. Her husband finally came but they continued to refuse to accept the obvious.
All of the people in my party of 5 were shocked and upset by her attitude.
Finally, she said she'd have to report it to her "assurance" company and if they paid her she'd send me a check. Needless to say, her rudeness and disregard for my clothes makes me believe that she is just saying that to get me out of the country without having to reimburse me.
I feel that it is unconscionable that she refused to take responsibility and do the right thing. Stay at your own risk!!!!
