About this house rental
Just minutes from 6 ski areas: Keystone (10 minutes), Copper Mountain (10 minutes), Arapahoe Basin (15 minutes), Breckenridge (20 minutes), Vail (30 minutes), Loveland (30 minutes). Located in Silverthorne, Colorado (4 Blocks East of Silverthorne Factory Outlets N Side of I70, exit 205). House is at the end of a private dead-end street on a large lot - very quiet. Tons of parking outside, but your group is limited to a maximum of 4 cars due to new County STR laws - please park on the flat parking areas in front of the house, not the road and don't park on the steeper driveway when it's icy. 2 blocks to free public transportation bus stop.
This is a beautiful home with wood floors and sleeps 10 (Used to be 20 prior to new STR laws - based on 2 for full, queen, or king beds and 1 for smaller beds). The main area has lofted ceilings so the whole group can hang out together. There's a fully stocked gourmet kitchen so you can cook and save lots of money versus eating out. This is a private house on a 1 acre lot 4 blocks from I-70 and Hwy 9. Your group is limited to a maximum of 4 cars due to new County STR laws - please park on the flat parking areas in front of the house, not the road and don't park on the steeper driveway when it's icy. I (the owner) live and work in Silverthorne and am available at a moments notice to assist you as needed. There are 2 lofts; 1 with a queen sized bed and nightstand and 1 that is has 2 bedrooms with 3 queen beds, a queen sleeper sofa, a foosball table and 2 TVs (great place for small group/kids to have privacy). The heated garage is now a nice bonus game room with poker table, beer/ping pong table, pool table, chairs, and ski and board equipment storage. The master suite is huge with vaulted ceilings, a king bed, a lazy boy, heated blankets, and it's own private balcony. The second master bedroom also has a king bed, TV, and heated blankets. The other bedroom is somewhat small and has a Full/Twin bunk bed and a TV. The living room has couch and sofa chair seating for 9 at a time and more at the dining room table to watch the new 55' flat-screen TV. There are enough linens and dishes for 20 at time. There are 2 bathrooms, both are nice and I have made accommodations by supplying mirrors for putting on make-up or other grooming outside the bathrooms to free them up. The spa is in a large all-glass sun room - it is the largest spa made and easily seats 8 at a time. The furniture, linens, contents, and downstairs carpet are all new. See my other description/information for travel times to ski areas - many are within 20 minutes! There's a free bus that can get people to anywhere in the county and the bus stop is just 2 blocks away. Also within walking distance are many factory outlet malls and restaurants. The views are amazing and the lights of Keystone ski area slopes can be seen from the large front deck. There's enough patio furniture for 10 people to sit on the large deck at the same time and more outdoor furniture can be moved from the other deck if needed to seat more. There are 2 sleeper sofas in the living room if needed. We've provided books and games for your entertainment. We also provide cable TV, internet, WiFi and the Blue Ray player can download Netflix or Blockbuster movies if you have an account. There's a full size washer, dryer, and dishwasher. There is a lock-box and a garage door keypad for your use so you don't have to worry about losing your keys on the slopes. The house has a brand new heating system so you won't have any problems while you're staying here. The dining room table seats 8 and 3 more at the granite slab island. This is a perfect place for your large group or family event, reunion, or holiday. There is a large front yard and a back yard and you're welcome to have a campfire outside if you'd like! This house really is close to everything and offers a luxurious space to stay at a very reasonable price.

The motivation for our stay was a family reunion. The age range for the 10 of us was 18 thru 55 ( there was 1 infant). It was the perfect amount of communal space as well as independent bedrooms for solitude. The amenities were exceptional particularly for the diverse needs of 10 people. The location was convenient and the owners were very attentive. We are truly thankful for the experience and would definitely go back.

I did not personally stay here, but those who did, told me they loved the house and that it was very accommodating. A great house for families with the pool table and hot tub!

My friends and I enjoyed our stay at this excellent property. All of the amenities were as-described.
The 14 page contract, the large deposit, and high cleaning and maintenance fees (almost a quarter of the nightly cost?) all left a sour taste in my mouth. I scoured the contract and made sure all of my fellow guests followed the house rules to a T because there was a lot of explicit language around enforcement of taking money from the deposit. I will be keeping an eye on what amount is returned in a couple weeks. I'm also not sure that an additional contract is viable within VRBO's platform. There is no means to upload documents (and photos of my drivers license) to a discrete platform. I had to conduct it over email and hope that my identity is not misplaced. Furthermore, VRBO censors out email addresses in chats to discourage chat outside the platform, which made me feel uncomfortable.
In terms of accuracy of listing, it is about a mile downhill to the outlets.
All in all, this is a wonderful home. I would not stay again or recommend to others because all of the extras add up.

Myself and 7 guy friends booked this home in Silverthorne for a ski trip. This home is located centrally to all the major ski resorts vail, breck, copper, beaver, and keystone. We enjoyed the home with an awesome spa room, garage for all your ski equipment, and enough beds for everyone. I would definitely stay here again. The host was extremely responsive to all of our needs.

Everything about this house was perfect for our group. Connor proposed on the deck and Rachel said yes. It’s a memorable place for the Whipple family, now one person larger.

Had a ski trip planned and this location what in the center of the locations we wanted to go. Easily fit slept 10 and had everything we needed for our stay. Highly recommend considering this for a group stay!

It was a fun stay and snowed all weekend

We arrived early and the owner was very accommodating . When we arrived, check in was a breeze; I was sent the key code and that was it. The basement has a game room with darts and a pool table, which the kids really enjoyed. The connected hot tub meant that after a long day of skiing, you didnt have to leave back out to relax. There is a smart tv in the living room, with large TVs in the downstairs bedrooms, and another in the upstairs loft.
The kitchen has plenty of cups, knives, forks, and plates. There are plenty of pots/pans, making cooking a breeze. The large dining room table was ideal for spending time as family.
I would suggest that if you're visiting in the winter, make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle. The owner did he best to keep the area clean, but snow comes fast in the mountains.
The house is close to everything! Keystone is less than 10 miles away, down one road. Copper mountain is about the same. Frisco Adventure park isnt far, plus there is plenty of food and shopping near by.
The owner was always available and checked up on us multiple times. It was really appreciated.
We loved it! Will be back again.

The great room & kitchen worked well for our group of 7-9 adults. The location was great. Beautiful views, nice porch, easy parking. The host was accessible & helpful. The bedrooms were fair, we were disappointed in the “loft” rooms as they were quite basic- ok for college kids or children. The game room was the garage- cold, dimly lit & smelly(garbage is kept there).

Great property! Clean and cozy. Indoor hot tub was used nightly. Small stock of essentials was nice for our short trip. Plenty of beds and space for our group. Location to shops/restaurants and the slopes was ideal.

Close to several ski areas. On a pretty secluded street. Wonderful enclosed hot tub. A steam shower that was very nice. Beautiful view of Silverthorn and the mountains. The kids enjoyed the game room. The owner and caretaker were very responsive and helpful. I'm sure it is great in the summer too with the beautiful deck overlooking the town and mountain and the area out back with grill, etc. May have to come back in the summer and check it out.

We stayed here for a family ski trip. It’s a quick drive to keystone and close to lots of amenities. It’s a great place to stay and our family enjoyed our stay!

We’ll kept home that comfortably accommodated family of 10. Perfect layout to bring everyone together - big dinners, games, etc. Great location for skiing. Owner and property management were attentive and friendly. Will definitely look forward to returning.

Our group absolutely loved this house. Plenty of space and beds for a group of 10. The hot tub room sun room is an incredible touch after a long day on the slopes. Steam shower in master bedroom was the cherry on top. Very clean, cozy, and quiet. Would stay here again without a question!

We had a group of 7 and we used every square inch of the house, but it was perfect for us. There are definitely some quirks - like the fact that the best way to access the hot tub is through a bathroom - but overall, it's great. We had a blast playing Halo upstairs and ping pong and pool downstairs. If I had a criticism, I'd say that the house is a bit more worn than it looks in the pictures...but it has character. Would definitely stay again.

This visit was the first time in the last couple years we were able to get together as a family other than Zoom. The property looked great for accommodating the 10 of us for that purpose. However, it was very disappointing compared to other VRBO properties we have stayed at over the years. While we made the best of it, the property was sub-standard at best.
The "curb appeal" of the home is horrible. Landscaping is nonexistent, nothing but weeds. There was a junky ladder collection under the front deck, we got to look out the master bedroom window at an old red truck in the yard and some kind of metal storage unit. We were appalled by the back yard so we didn't even go out there. The yard is just a bunch of weeds. There were piles of lumber everywhere, junky furniture and old BBQ’s scattered about. The main refrigerator in the kitchen was broken. The back-up in the game room didn't have any shelves which made it almost impossible to store things in it. We creatively used croquet mallets for shelves. We left them in there. It was also set too cold so it froze all our salad makings for 3 meals. We bought 5 more bags of ice to keep in our personal coolers. The dorm room fridge provided in the kitchen wasn't even close to being large enough. There were 2 coolers left by the back door for our use, but they were filthy. You need a new cleaning crew. We had to clean the floor in the kitchen and the dining room, as well as the dining room table, the patio table and the grill. The main oven under the stove was filthy so we didn't use it. Many of the pots and pans were not clean so we ran them all through the dishwasher before using. For this reason, we were afraid to even use the hot tub (part of the appeal of the place). Two of the 5 light bulbs in the light fixture over the dining room table are burned out. The electrical configuration in the loft bedroom is a joke. When my sister-in-law and her husband staying up there turned on the fan, it arced and sparked. The entire housing is loose and I know it is not up to Code. Luckily no one got hurt and a fire didn't start. The game room never got used either. Should make it a garage again. That's what it is. The towels and pillows provided were horrible. There was only one towel per person as well as one pillow. The towels were ratty and the pillows were flat. I would encourage the owner to take a portion of the money made on us and invest in some linens.
The house shows well on the web site because the photo

This house was great for our family of 7 adults. It is in a great location to enjoy Denver, Rock Mountain National Park, the ski areas and hiking. We were impressed with the beautiful views and excited to see fox and deer in the yard. We had some unexpected issues, but the caretaker really gave us good service.

We very much enjoyed this home. The view is beautiful from the deck. We appreciated having the fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms. This is a very nice place to stay and the location is close to anything you would need.

Nice layout with plenty of open space in the middle to gather. Enjoyed time on the large deck that overlooks the town. There was a gate available on the deck to block the stairs going down which was much appreciated for our 21 mo old granddaughter. And easy 2-steps in via back entrance for elderly. Owner was quickly responsive to any questions. Close to shopping/food, hiking, lake, (skiing in winter) - but up the mountain enough that we did not feel like we were in town. Nice quiet neighborhood.

I cannot post enough positive comments concerning our rental and the wonderful experience of dealing with Evan and Marvin. Communication was unbelievably timely and accommodating from the beginning to the end. We arrived very early and yet were given access to the garage and the several toys and outdoor games to keep us busy until the cleaners were finished. After being in a car for several hours, the last thing we wanted to do was get back in the car. We were even allowed to put groceries in the fridge while we waited. The huge cabin was amazing! Very clean and very nice. The hot tub was great for our family after returning from activities. We grilled on the very nice grill both nights. Our family wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you so much forsharing your home with us. We loved it.

The location was excellent (within walking distance to town) and the views from this property were absolutely breathtaking. The guys all enjoyed the deck / grilling space as well as the large hot tub room. Plenty of beds for a large group of guys to all have their own place to crash was a big plus. Thanks for having us!

This was the perfect place for our 5-day family vacation with our mostly grown kids (25, 21, 17, 17) in June-July 2021. The house was just as it appears in the pictures, and actually better. Our hosts, Evan and Marvin, were a wonderful part of the experience. They helped us with recommendations on hikes (Evan said we might see moose at Lilypad lake and we did!) and were around and available to answer any questions and give us some great suggestions about things to do during our visit.
There was so much to enjoy at the house, from bedrooms perfect for each of us, to the wine waiting for us upon arrival (so thoughtful!), The incredible view (pictures don’t do it justice), the downstairs game area (I beat my son at pool three times!), the grill on the deck, the hot tub, the comfortable family area with a smart TV to watch the latest episode in the Disney+ series we all enjoy that was also the perfect spot for our family board games, well appointed kitchen with everything we needed and more, beautiful wildflowers all around and some cute bunnies and chipmunks making appearances, the pair of reclining chairs with a mountain view perfect for morning coffee or for a glass of wine and a rest after a big hike, the awesome tub in the master bath.
The location is also great, walking distance to outlets for our shoppers and nearby restaurants so it was not an issue only having one car. The kids especially liked wandering down to Dunkin Donuts for 1:1 sibling bonding in the mornings. We were close to the Colorado rafting company where our group had a great time on the river.
We definitely had a 5 star experience! Many thanks to our hosts for sharing their wonderful house with our family!

The Ptarmigan Mountain House was the perfect location between all the ski towns and had all the amenities for a fun night in with friends! We had plenty of space for each family & the hot tub room was a fan favorite. The owners were easy to communicate with & we will keep this place on our list for when we come back with a group! Thank you!

Love the layout of the home. Owners made sure to provide just about every item you might need from a child high chair to all kinds of kitchen utensils/cookware. Love the Master bathroom, the shower and bathtub are beautiful. The indoor spa is amazing. It was nice to get into the hot tub no matter what the weather was doing. What I loved most, was the cleared off patio! No packed snow on arrival. The patio deck was cleaned off and we enjoyed it during February. Past homes we stayed in had miles of snow on their patios. We loved that the owners and staff where nearby for any help or assistance we needed. What would seal the deal for us next year is the addition of a fireplace even if it is an electric one. My Mother In Law missed that but such a quick fix.We love this home and hope to rent again!

A great house in a great location. Minutes away from 3 resorts, restauraunts are all around for a quick bite to eat after a full day of skiing, the owner was quick to respond to any questions i had about the property. Its located in a quiet community. Its a beautiful house with beautiful views.

The house was great. Much larger than we needed, but we enjoyed the space we used. Everything was clean and neat when we arrived. The beds were comfortable and the house and kitchen were equipped with everything we could possibly need. We will be back!

We enjoyed our best Christmas Family Reunion ever here! Our host was wonderful! The house was amazing and in the perfect location for snowboarding all of the local mountains. Waking up to the mountain views was awe-inspiring! This is truly a vacation location 365 days a year!!

We had a great time staying here as we were celebrating our families. We do this once a year and I rate this property in the top three that we have stayed in. Evan has been very helpful and quick to respond to any request. The fact that there was only two bathrooms concerned us but that did not create any problems. They have a third in progress. The views are great and close to shopping, hiking, trails and skiing.

We celebrated Thanksgiving with our family and grandchildren! There was a total of 12 adults and 7 kids. This home was perfect and beautiful. Equipped with everything you need including games, ping pong, pool, fuse ball and a hot tub! We had the best time ever and would highly recommend this home to large groups! Evan was so helpful to make our stay the best ever! Thanks again! Tom and Nook Wurr Colorado Springs, Colorado

The overall home is wonderful and lots of fun. The two bathrooms will be increased (in the process while we stayed) to three. That will be a big help for large groups. Our family of 20 members truly enjoyed our time there and the ease of visiting: Dillon Reservoir--pontooning; Hiking; playing in the Rainbow Park at the bottom of the hill (walking distance); eating at the Mountain Lyon Cafe (true highlight!--great Green Chili)
The home is clean and easy to navigate! Thanks for a great time.

Everything about this reservation was true to the description. We had lots of room and plenty of bed space to make everyone (20 people) comfortable. Beautiful views as wel.
1.5 / 5.0
The place was very run down. The beds were really bad. Coil springs in the body and really bad mattress. The hot tub had cracks in it and the floors in the back bathroom were soft. It did take care of our needs. And we loved the pool table, ping pong table and all the outdoor games. That made our stay worth while. We loved the mama Moose and babies that came by to visit. We did have a great time other than the hard beds.
