About this house rental
Sitting on the edge of Flagler Beach with a sweeping view of the cinnamon sand and sparkling surf is Sunshine House, our newly renovated vintage bungalow. Boasting brand-new furniture, a cool retro décor, and unbeatable ocean views, it's THE place to stay!
Like something straight off the set of Mad Men, Sunshine House is a mid-20th-century cube of a house, with a flat roof and pastel colors. It sits on a prime double lot, beachfront, with a huge backyard overlooking the sea. But though it may look modest from the outside, once you step into Sunshine House, you realize you've found a truly special home-away-from-home.
Completely remodeled with terrazzo floors and a designer's eye, Sunshine House can only be described as a " swinging' beach pad"! Turn on the radio in here and you expect to hear the latest hit from the Rat Pack or news from the Kennedy White House! It's sheer fun to look at, super comfortable to stay in, and a conversation piece you'll dine out on all year. Bring the good camera and get ready to fill your Facebook page with new photos!
The wide open living and dining area are awash in sunlight and pale tones, from the gleaming terrazzo floors to the huge powder-blue sectional that seats 8 comfortably and includes a lounger. Two ottomans in this room unfold into twin beds, accommodating any overflow of guests. (And you WILL have an overflow of guests once people find out about this place!) A giant 45" HDTV with DVD player stands ready to entertain -- after all, vintage is a great style, but there's nothing to beat modern appliances!
Sliding glass doors from the living room lead out to the back patio, where ultra-comfortable lounge and Adirondack chairs await you. The décor here is desert modern -- no prickly undergrowth to worry about, which is great for the kids.
The living area of Sunshine House also includes a "formal" dining table and a neat diner-style banquette with an ocean view. You'll love the square white table set about with lime-green molded chairs, and the diner-style banquette is equally appealing with its booth seating. (Kids' table, anyone?) And if you wind up eating outdoors to the murmur of the sea, repurpose these tables into the game or computer spaces (you have free wireless Internet here). They're just waiting for a heated Cranium match or an all-night poker game!
Beyond the dining area is our kitchen, thoroughly modern and spotlessly appointed. The wide, glossy tiles feel so good on your feet after a day at the beach! Our knobless blond cabinetry filled with cookware and utensils, the sleek breakfast bar, and the gleaming white appliances may just convince you to cook a homemade meal . . . or not. They work great for drinks and snacks too, and Palm Coast has fabulous restaurants!
After all the fun of a day at Flagler Beach, it's great to retire to the comfortable bedrooms at Sunshine House. The primary bedroom is cool and breezy, with a king-sized bed, new HDTV with DVD player, and doors leading outside.
The 2nd bedroom offers a queen-sized bed and wall-mounted HDTV. Both it and the third bedroom are located on the mezzanine level. And the third bedroom is the perfect children's space, with a queen bed and a bunk with a twin on top, double on bottom. This room also has a wall-mounted HDTV, which is very handy when the pillows start flying!
Two full & 1 half bathrooms keep everyone happy at Sunshine House. The primary bath is palatial, with a separate bathtub and shower, split-level design, and high window for natural light. (The washer & dryer is also stashed here.) The 2nd bathroom offers bold retro aqua & white tile plus a big shower. And the half-bath off the living room is convenient for all.
Sunshine House is a unique beach bungalow, the perfect blend of retro and modern, with the emphasis on comfort. The views are astonishing and the livin' is easy!
*Please note that the oceanfront gazebo was destroyed in Hurricane Mathew and is no longer on the property.

From the moment we arrived at the property, we were hooked! The view is spectacular, the house is so clean and cute, it has all the amenities you could possibly want for your stay. When we needed to contact the property manage (for a chirping smoke detector in a locked closet), they responded immediately and resolved the issue. The pictures in the post are 100% accurate. This place is amazing!

Large common areas great for families with a full size kitchen! Nice seating in backyard, steps from the beach. Quiet location with downtown area only 2.5 miles away 2 with restaurants, bars, music and of course ice cream! Full size kitchen to prepare meals. Great place to stay.

Stayed at this house for a long weekend get away with another couple and our kids (1yr an7 yr's old) & 2 small dogs. The house is as nice as the pictures depict. It is comfortable, it was clean, location was amazing, it was hassle free...it is 5 mins from various restaurants and markets. It is equipped with towels and there are lounge chairs outside, not pictured....so it was an added plus. If I had to make any suggestions it would be to move the grill and picnic table (both on the street side of the house) over to the beach side. The beach was nice and relaxing, which is what we needed. The beach was very private only a few people while we were there. We will definitely rent there again.

First the negatives. Shower pressure was softer than outside hose. Upstairs shower didn't work, not a problem for us as we only had 2 people.
There are 2 Shopping areas nearby but one you have to pay a toll on a bridge. It was $3 they accept cash and credit. Would have liked to know that before we chose the Publix, others maybe upset.
Warning about the area - it is super dark on the roadway and even worse with rain and fog. Be prepared and drive safely as it is a high speed road.
There is a sidewalk across the street.
This was a great property and pleasantly accurate. We had cold rainy weather the entire stay. The kitchen was easy to use and still interact. The grill area was nice would love a covering. The living spaces made rainy days at the beach comfortable and pleasant.
The main attraction is the outdoor seating area. Even in the cold and rain it was inviting and comfortable to sit and enjoy. Our dog was welcomed and provided for. There is a fence on the sides and a sand/grass yard for zoomies and yoga, Big enough for multiple vehicles.
I felt safe and secure in the house and on the property. Neighbors were kind.
Overall it was exactly what we wanted and needed for our Christmas vacation.

House was a great size for the 5 of us and very pet friendly. We grilled and cooked all meals in the kitchen. It was a perfect size for many cooks. Lol The back patio overlooking the ocean was my sanctuary. My 20 somethings took our doggo down to the beach to frolick. We saw a juvenile bull shark feeding just off the shelf. Soooo cool. I woke up to sunrise and a cup of coffee every morning. That's my idea of paradise.

Half of the odd old house was not depicted on online photos. They charged me 700$ in host fees for a house that sleeps 8 and only gave me 3 rolls of toilet paper when I called and asked for one for they said “it’s not part of stater package to give more than 3 rolls” for a house that sleeps 8 for 5 days????? What was the 700$ for????

Property was just as described! Clean, comfortable and great location! A few of us enjoyed bike week festivities. But I never left the patio! Even the dogs didn’t want to leave. Beautiful spot! Can’t wait to go back!

This home has an excellent location in a very peaceful beach. We barely saw anyone on the beach which is rare! The house is adequate in decor, could be more up to date, the main negative was that the back doors where filthy and that is where your view is. My husband and I had to clean them for a while, in and out to be able to enjoy the view. Also they only give you one roll of toilet paper per bathroom so we had to bring our own. We never encounter that situation in any house we have rented, and we have rented many. I would stay there again but hope they can fix these situations.

There were a few minor issues. The property manager was on it. Hopefully the owner will do some upgrades and fix things. This is my second time staying at this property. I always enjoy staying here.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was spacious and clean. Plenty of room and am amazing view. The only recommendation would be to put a railing of sorts on the wall at the beach due to the drop off.

Great time
Had a great time, location was great for our vacation. Nice backyard to lounge in if you don't want to go to ocean, but only about 6-8 stairs and you are on the beach. Only drawback is no master bath... it's 20 feet away, but no big deal. Nice, lots of room, would definitely stay again.

Perfect Family Beach Stay
House was very private and exactly as described. My family and I loved that the beach was so private. It was almost as if we had the whole beach to ourselves. It was perfect for our 2 month old’s first vacation. The house itself was very cute and nicely decorated. Maybe appliances need to be upgraded in the future and showers were a little small, but we had not complaints during our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

"Warning" 24 hour video surveillance stickers on the outside AND inside made us really uncomfortable. There is also a downstairs that looks like an apartment with a lock that was different than the one we used to access this rental so it wasn't accessible to us. We wondered if someone else was staying there One of the doors inside the home that potentially leads to that downstairs area was locked, from the INSIDE. Super strange. We emailed the company directly with questions and never got a response. The Master bedroom had a door that opened up to the front porch and the bed/sheets were terribly uncomfortable. The TV in the master is the size of an iPad. That room stayed terribly hot but a fan was provided. The beach was beautiful. The sand here is interesting, made up of smooth little broken shells. The water was too rough and deep to swim at all. The retro look was fun. We ate at Saltwater Crocs and Rocky's pizzaria, both were great! Disappointed, we packed up the day before our trip was supposed to end and left this house. I still haven't received any response from the property management company.

Ocean Wave Relaxation
The place was great. Oceanfront means Oceanfront and it is. Better than what was expected. The decor was very Pottery Barn decorated very nicely and thought was put into the design. We had everything we needed. The only drawbacks were it was a little confusing where to park at first and no hand railing on steps. (Hard for older folks). From being a realtor view adding a shower to where the bathroom closet is off the multi-bedroom would add value. (The other bathroom shower is on the other side so easy to install). But nothing is like watching the sunrise here or at night to listen to the waves and see the stars glazing in the moonlight. Can't wait to stay here again. Thank you for the enjoyable experience.

Beach front! Wonderful location!!
The house is right on the beach! Fabulous location. We liked the quietness of the beach area. Dog friendly beach and house. Only complaint is that it is not very well appointed with shampoo, soap, toilet paper, etc. We had no shampoo. No food storage containers. One of toilet paper per bathroom.

Nice location but a tired property
We really enjoyed the house being right on the beach. The house was clean and well suited for our family. The kitchen was well stocked with all that we needed.
However when I say the house was tired is that it is older and needs more TLC than a newer house.
The one shower did not drain properly, it was backed up. We did notice a plumbers snake that was left outside in the back of the house as to say they were working on it. The gas grill seemed like it has never been cleaned. The three nights we grilled we got allot of flare-up from the food built-up from previous grilling. The recessed lights in the kitchen about three quarters of them were burnt out. The rear door latch did not work, we had to use the deadbolt to keep it closed. I bring these things up not to keep you from staying but I hope the management will take care of the property with better maintenance. Thank you

It was a great way to get out of the house during this pandemic and still social distance.

Beautiful Views
Although the surf was super rough due to high winds for most of the time we were there, we had a nice time. Our daughter typically goes this time of year so that she can surf, but we were unable to do so because of the high surfs, but she still had fun. The views of the ocean were amazing and it seemed as if we were sitting right on the water. This was our second trip back to this house and it didn't disappoint. It was super clean and we felt safe especially with COVID. It is a great dog beach, and our yellow lab had a blast playing near the water and walking on the beach chasing crabs. Kitchen had everything we needed and the area was nice and quiet this time of year. We will definitely be back.

Great place to stay
This house was the perfect little place for our surprise party for my sister who lives near by. It could've been a little cleaner when we got there and the one shower filled up with water during each shower but we are an easy going bunch and don't expect perfection. I would definately rent this place again.

Steps from the Sand!
This is my favorite vaction rental we have visited since using HomeAway/VRBO/AirBnB services. The pictures don't do it justice! The sand is about 15 steps from the back door :-). The beach was secluded and perfect for a relaxing family getaway with busy kids. I will be coming back to Flagler again :-). We are already planning our next family vacation to Disney and would prefer to just drive in and stay here instead of in the city :-).

Charming beach house!
This is an absolutely charming house on the beach with direct beach access! My family had a wonderful and relaxing stay at this sweet home! The only downside is that there is no AC duct in the bathroom with the washer/dryer and it does get a bit warm in that room. We would definitely stay again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
