My wife and I were looking for a place to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We booked this so far in advance that I honestly cannot recall how we settled on San Juan Island or what filters we used that led us to the "Westcott Bay Little House" but we won the lottery with this one.
First, the location of the property is ideal. While there are neighbors on both sides you would not know they were there the way the property is landscaped. (Okay, the ongoing construction next door let us know they were there, but we were out most days so it was NBD.) Down a winding driveway with an expansive yard that runs to the bay. It is also located on the best side of the island. about a 5 minute drive to Roche Harbor, which is much more laid back than Friday Harbor, the main town. Literally across the bay from the Westcott Bay Shellfish Company, and on the same since of the island as the English Camp and Lime Kiln State Park and Lighthouse. When you want seclusion, it is the deepest quiet I have heard in years. No phone. No Internet (but very good Wi-Fi if you want it through Airalo and T-Mobile). The only mechanical sound is the the hum of the hot tub motor. Lots of wildlife (deer, fox, and Black Oystercatchers, for a few).
The house was immaculately clean with every appliance and cooking utensil one might need. Open the large windows and the cross-ventilation is better than air conditioning. So much more to add, but for some reason VRBO has a 1500 character limit.

My children and I spent a glorious five days at the house. The location was perfect. The long driveway provided privacy and you hardly even see the neighboring houses. The pictures do not do this home justice. My kids enjoyed the huge yard when not exploring the beach. So many little quiet spots to sit and watch the water and wildlife. The house itself was well equipped for a week’s stay. Great size for a small family. We loved being close enough to Roche Harbor to easily go over for lunch or to swim in their pool. Definitely get a reservation to eat at Westcott Bay Shellfish Company which is visible across the bay from the yard. Top ten meals of my life!

Love the Location - However there was Dead bugs that I swear were the same ones from last year!
Hot Summer and absolutely No windows left open at check-in and also NO FANS!
Wet Towels/Sheets left in Washing Machine - Dishes in Dishwasher - NO ICE in Icemaker! Oven was Disgusting as were the Floors ( Dust /Hair/Dead Bugs )
Even so - the location and views were spectacular so we went to book for next year ( same dates ) and those were already gone! We will need to find another place to celebrate our Anniversary . . .

We loved the spot this house is in. Very private and comfortable.

If you want tranquility and to be entertained by wildlife- come to this amazing spot! The hosts were great and the house was immaculate! My wife and I loved our stay.

We stayed her for a long weekend and enjoyed it immensely. The views are amazing and the house is comfortable. We slept well in the beds, too. Deer roam the property and were fun to watch. The steps down to the beach are safe and sturdy. You do want to watch little ones here, as there are a couple of unguarded drops, but that’s to be expected. Our dog passed just before our holiday, devastatingly, but she would have loved it, too.

The house and property were a dream come true. Our two littles and us three adults had the most amazing time watching birds and even a sea otter from the window, exploring the beach, and going in the hottub at night. The kitchen was massive with everything we needed to make breakfasts and snacks. The books left were a delight to read to the kids at night. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
4.8
The views from this home were second to none! We loved enjoying the views from the house and by wondering down to the water to explore. The kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials, and the living space is generous. As advertised, the wifi is spotty which allowed us to fully unplug and relax.

We enjoyed our stay at this property! It was furnished with everything we could need. Very cozy and private. The views are incredible. We loved the wildlife and nature right outside our door. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. We would definitely love to return to San Juan island and stay at this property again.

What is not to love about a sparkling ocean view and peaceful setting? We enjoyed the location of the property so much, and aside from a bit of construction work being done on one of the properties, it was very quiet. House had all of the essentials we needed (we didn't cook, so I can't speak for the kitchen equipment), and beds were comfortable enough for us. We enjoyed being a bit secluded and the drives along the coast to the various parks or on Roche Harbor Road into Friday Harbor. We'd definitely recommend the property, though maybe not to families with young kiddos or people needing wifi or better mobile phone access. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home. It was so restful and lovely!

Everything was accurate to listing- but dont get your hopes up about wifi. Not sure why Starlink hasnt been offered here as a point of safety as cell coverage is also spotty. A better drive marker would be helpful for evening arrivals. Otherwise excellent guide book should also include operation of the heating for those of us who are unfamiliar. Be aware neighbours are watching the property and will pop in. Island is great to explore for a couple days and yes, the sunsets from the clean & warm hot tub are STUNNING! A real gem.

My family and I loved staying at this property. It’s very well maintained, has beautiful water views, a large, open concept kitchen/living room with plenty of seating, and quick access to Roche Harbor for dining/shopping. We will absolutely stay here the next time we come back.

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend for our anniversary (with the dog). An absolutely amazing location. It was so peaceful and quiet we could only hear the birds chirping. No road noise, no other people, etc. Kitchen was great and well stocked to cook at home. Close distance to Roche Harbor. We will definitely come back.

We loved the property- the view, the setting, the sunset, the beach, the cabin, the proximity to town and especially the serenity. It was easy to find and all went as planned.

Had a nice family trip but the lack of wireless cell or internet coverage was a challenge for communicating and looking up the online door code and general check in instructions. Would have preferred a safer door lock option on the home and a little less intense rules about checking in and out. I thought the garage would have some bikes or kayaks in it, but it did not. The view is beautiful, the hot tub is fantastic and the stay was nice for 3 days, although I don’t think I’d stay there again.

The location on the water is fantastic and very private. We went out on our own SUPs. The great room has a great view with all the glass, though some of the panels have failed. This is obviously an old house, so I didn't expect miracles. The furnishings were nice enough, if not as nice as what was in the online photos (the pictured flowering plants outside had also been removed.) Supplied linens and tools were fine. Spa was nice to have but noisy and we had to find a way to turn it off at night as it is not on a clock timer to keep if off while sleeping. Very annoying. The updated Ikea kitchen was fine. The bedrooms and bath however are very, very tiny. Biggest issue was ventilation. It was quite warm as it is built like a greenhouse, and quite challenging to get bedrooms aired out. The grass needed cutting and an actual walkway from the parking area to the door would have been MUCH appreciated!

A beautiful property, very clean and easy to get to. Great location, close to Roche Harbor as well as Friday Harbor. We really enjoyed the hot tub and just sitting outside looking for wildlife!
4.8
For the most part it was amazing. We got to see almost all of the wildlife except for the fox. Ieven got a small glimpse of a whale pod. We enjoyed the town and the whole island.
As far as the house is concerned, it could use some love. The first thing we noticed were the broken window frames and missing window screens.
The Adirondack chairs arm rests broke off exposing rusty nails. The walls could use paint and they could make the effort to get new puzzles. At least two had a missing pieces. For the price we paid, all of the ameneties can definitely be taken care of.
We might be back if they did any upkeep.

My daughter and son-in-law stayed at the property for their honeymoon and loved everything about it. Thank you.

Our stay at this lovely property was a delight. Most everything was perfect. Just few things would have made it the best.
Clean the coffee maker- Old coffer grounds molded in the coffee maker
Bunk bed room door would not shut - no privacy
Dog poop in the yard - supplying poop bags might help.
Instructions for the heat system
Instructions for the woodburner (that did not work)

It was great! Everything was clean and the property was beautiful. We loved it, thank you!

The property is beautiful and the house is lovely. Jenny was really helpful and communicative. I definitely recommend for anyone who wants to unplug for a bit to relax and watch seals from a hot tub. My only complaint was not having an outside trash bin for dog poop.
4.8
We spent our time alternating between reading with a view in the living room, and beach hopping. The amount of peace and wildlife, especially compared to other islands/properties, is unmatched. We really appreciated the privacy the house offers, while still be close to Roche Harbor. We will definitely be looking to stay at this property again, and will be a recommended spot for any of our family or friends looking for a San Juan getaway.

A great get away and lovely place to stay. Our dog enjoyed it as much as we did! The view is spectacular and the home has everything you need.

Our family recently stayed at this property and couldn't have been happier. The property was fantastic and we really enjoyed beach adventures as well as ample hot tub time. The sunsets were gorgeous. We will almost certainly be back soon!

Our family with 2 kids loved the location and peaceful atmosphere. The kids loved catching crabs and watching seals in the bay. We could walk to Roche harbor. The property and house are as advertised and exactly what we wanted. I didn't realize there wasn’t cell service or wifi but it wasn’t a big deal since we were planning to unwind and you can drive or walk half a mile to get service. Would love to stat here again.

Beautiful view. Great family stay.

It was just as described. There was a little wear and tear but it is a vacation rental. It was perfect for us. We watched a bald eagle get its breakfast every morning and we were visited by dear in the evenings. Yes, there was ZERO WiFi but why do you need that in such a beautiful place. We brought books, games and made memories.

My husband and I were wanting a nice, quiet getaway with a beautiful view...we got it! This was a great home. The views were awesome! The home was very private and had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this vacation rental.

Enjoyed the stay in Wescott Bay. Seals off the shore eating oysters during the whole stay. Amazing property and views. We cleaned when we got there because it may have been swept/vacuumed, but man that place was dirty. We couldn't even use the grill. The grill grates were disgusting. Hot tub was nice. We cleaned for the next person so they don't have to. Under furniture was not cleaned. Would stay again because overall, we had a great time there and the property is beautiful.

We had a wonderful stay at this home. Beautiful, quiet, private location close to Roche Harbor. Well supplied kitchen. Comfortable accommodations.

The property was very beautiful and quiet, perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway.

We loved this small home and property! Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful setting and views. Loved the little beach.
Only complaint was that the sofa in living room was not a pull out bed so one of my sisters has to sleep on a couch.
It would also have been nice to have gotten a heads up on the three night of the power being shut off at 10pm. The first night we had to search for flashlight and missed the movie we had started.
Overall, it was a great place to live for a week on San
Juan Island and we definitely would recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Westcott Bay property. The view is breathtaking and the house was perfect for me and my spouse. We enjoyed all the little thoughtful touches and amenities that were available.
Like the listing said, wi-fi was very limited, we were never able to connect which was totally fine with us. If we needed to look anything up, the town of Roche Harbor was a super quick drive away.
Check in and check out were easy, the kitchen was well stocked, and the location was unbeatable. We would love to come back!

This is a nice house in a lovely location. It's definitely dog friendly and our mini aussie granddog loved the large lawn for chasing balls. Pay attention to the "no wifi" information. None. Zip. Nada. And we had trouble pulling anything in via our phones unless we walked out to the tip of the property over the beach. Four adults max out the space. There is a high chair if you are coming with an infant/toddler but beware the high banks with long falls to the beach below. Overall the furniture is comfortable although the living room chairs could stand to be updated because the cushions on the chairs are losing their vinyl covering badly. The location on Westcott Bay makes fresh oysters from the oyster farm across the bay a great treat. It is also near Roche Harbor with all the amenities to be found there. We took kayaks but it meant lowering them down a long wooden stairway to the beach and then pulling them back up at the end of our stay; not ideal but doable.

The house and property were perfect for our anniversary getaway. It was our first real vacation in four years and this house made it even better. It was a very romantic and peaceful environment. The view never gets old - day or night - and the windows make it even better, so you don't miss any of the beauty. The water access was great and the tree swing was fun. We cooked most nights simply to enjoy the peace and quiet and to start our evening hot tub routine even sooner. It was a great way to end the day, especially after our first time kayaking! Even though this property is on the other end of the island from the ferry, the island is small nothing was far away. But personally, I enjoyed the peace and views of Roche Harbor much more than Friday Harbor, and this property enhanced that even more. We rode our bikes to Roche Harbor, disc golfed at Roche Harbor Disc Golf Course, kayaked with Discovery Sea Kayaks, walked Friday Harbor, visited Pelindaba Lavender Farms, and drove the whole island to sightsee. It was the perfect mix of entertainment and relaxation. It was exactly what we needed and wanted. Even the ferry ride is beautiful and enjoyable! We talked about visiting San Juan for years and after the first day my husband said he wished we'd of went sooner! Hope to return soon.

Dirty hot tub, not clean, photos were not correct. Right before we went to the house the photos of the bedroom online were of 4 twin beds (bunk beds). We arrived and that was not so.We needed the 4 twin beds but instead we got a double bed and a twin. That didn't work for us so one of our boys had to sleep on the dirty couch in the living room. The sofa was very dirty under the cushions with food and used bandaids that I took photos of. The coffee maker barely worked. The utensils in the kitchen were minimal. They sent me a pdf of instruction and info on the house. At the time of booking and in the pdf it said "limited wifi" but there was zero wifi! When I told the office manager she insisted it said "no wifi" until I sent her the proof ! So we had no wifi for half of our stay. We texted (and the office person ignored us for over a day) that we needed the wifi so my husband could work. They got a new router. Then we were interrupted with wifi delivery and installations (while we were sick). 4 out of the 5 of us got sick from the hot tub which was extremely dirty. Office person said it was because the cleaner guy was on vacation! We were sick for days. Then we were interrupted with hot tub cleaner. Office lady always sounded annoyed with us on the phone. Sometimes didn't text us back at all and so far has not apologized for any of the issues but did message me to say that other guests didn't have a problem.

This place was beautiful, peaceful, and really...just perfect!
Everything worked just great, and we enjoyed the hot tub under the stars every night after marveling at the colors of the sunset over the bay.....

This Westcott bay home was a great rendezvous spot for us with family that was boating through the area. We enjoyed exploring the shoreline and near by harbors. All the windows made for great PNW views!

Beautiful cottage on the bay. Peaceful and quite but not far from everything. Well stocked kitchen and I loved that we could bring our 2 year old Aussie. They even had a bin with dog toys and towels!!! Loved the swing on the beach and very sturdy stairs to the private beach.
If you enjoy morning walks be sure to take a left out from the drive and walk along the beautiful bay.
Not far into the walk is SAN JUAN Distillery! Awesome! Tastings on the weekends.
Appreciated all the little " extras" the house provided. If you forgot something, no worries....the cottage probably has it! By far one of my favorite VRBO"s!!!! Did not want to leave this very special property. We will be back!
