About this cottage rental
A beautiful hide-a-way, tucked in the trees. Lovely filtered views of the Olympic range and Holmes Harbor. Clean and peaceful. Just 8 miles from Langley, 6 miles from Freeland and conveniently near biking and hiking trails. Private beach just a short 15 minute walk away.
The guest house is clean and tidy and nicely decorated with lovely little nooks for a quiet glass of wine or a good read and also equipped with a small office area. There is a patio for sitting outside on a summer evening.
Wildlife and nature abound on this property. Watch the deer, rabbits, eagles and native birds and listen to the sounds of seals, and the frogs in the nearby pond as you fall asleep...... or just close the window for silence.
We will consider allowing a dog to stay on a case by case basis.
Whidbey Island is just a 15 minute ferry-ride from the mainland in Mukilteo. It is close to the city of Seattle and Vancouver but very rural and quiet. Nearby you will find beaches, biking and hiking trails, golf courses and pleasant seaside towns. Most of all you will find peaceful tranquility.
We are located just 8 miles from Langley with its shops, restaurants, theaters, music and public beaches. Langley has a pleasant downtown with great walking streets for strolling.
We are just 6 miles from Freeland where you will find a more-than-adequate shopping center for all your daily needs and also Double Bluff beach, a lovely and seemingly endless, dog friendly beach.
Bayview is also just 6 miles away with restaurants, a bicycle shop and a garden nursery as well as a summer-long Saturday farmers market.
To the North is Greenbank farm with café, wine shop, and cheese shop in a beautiful wetlands setting. And, Coupeville is another lovely seaside town shops, restaurants and is the home of the famous Penn Cove mussels. Near Coupeville is the historic Ebeys Landing and the Keystone ferry where you can access Port Townsend and the Olympic Peninsula.
Deception Pass is on the north end of the Island and a truly spectacular place to visit with camping, beaches and state park. If you travel over the bridge at Deception Pass which connects Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands you are just 10 minutes from Anacortes: a quaint seaside town with a busy and attractive harbor, antique stores and restaurants.

Everything we needed for a lovely stay on Whidbey for the weekend. Comfortable beds, great location!

Cottage was home away from home. Peaceful. We worked remotely so quiet was important. Cottage had all amenities we needed & clean. short walk to beach for daily breaks. Town was quick trip away and so much to do on the island from quick afternoon exploring or longer. Ashlyn was easy to communicate with and very helpful. Thank you.

It was such a wonderful stay! We had oatmeal, chocolate, and raisin cookies waiting for us when we arrived. The place was cool with a soft breeze from the windows being opened before our arrival (with the heat of the day, we appreciated this thoughtful touch). This place has everything you need. A quiet place to read, games, movies, walking trails, and the grounds are beautiful! Thank you, Ashlyn, Tabasco, and Luna for the amazing breakfast visits. Ashlyn created a delicious crab hash (poached egg, bacon, pickled shallots, asparagus, bull kelp, curled green onions and red onions) for our first breakfast. This morning we enjoyed personalized Dutch babies with freshly-picked tarragon and blueberries. We hope to see you all again soon.

This was the perfect solo retreat for me. The cottage was delightful, very clean and comfortable, beautiful grounds to wonder. Close to amazing activities. Everything you need is in the cottage, it’s well equipped. I thoroughly enjoyed some quiet nurturing time. Ashlyn was a perfect host.

This cottage is the perfect spot for a relaxing, quiet getaway. It’s very comfortable and homey, but it also has everything you need, including a very-well outfitted kitchen. I would definitely stay there again.

Perfect place for us and our dog. Very quiet, easy walk down to private beach, and Ashlyn's breakfast of baked eggs and crab was fantastic! Ashlyn has lots of ideas for activities and restaurants, including dog-friendly places.
In the cottage, the kitchen is well-appointed and there are lots of comfortable places to sit, and a desk, too. It's also very sunny and has a view of the Olympics.

Our host, Ashlyn, was helpful, kind and accommodating. Her property is peaceful, beautiful and well maintained. I’m a photographer and got amazing photos of birds, deer and bunnies right on the property. Our apartment was well furnished and spacious, with views of water and mountains. It is on the second level over the garage with a fairly steep staircase. She also has a bed and breakfast on the property and is a gourmet cook. You might even get a taste of crab if it’s crabbing season. We’ll definitely be returning here for another stay.

We enjoyed our time in this beautiful, relaxing setting. The cottage was close to the towns and villages on the island, yet we felt we were in the country. It was so much fun watching the deer and other wildlife on the grounds. Ashyln was a great host who provided a well-equipped home and excellent advice on the area in her comprehensive "guide book". The doggy greeting committee of Tabasco and Lula made it feel like home. Highly recommended.

Cozy, clean guest house bungalow. Perfect for my husband, me, and our 2 dogs. Quiet, beautiful views (saw an eagle fly over the kitchen window this morning), lots of deer on our evening stroll. Very well-appointed kitchen, great DVD selection, and thoughtful information about the island like places to hike, eat, shop, and walk/hike with the dogs.

The property was exactly as described. Beautiful and well-maintained. The location was a short drive to hiking, dining and just browsing around nearby towns. The bed was a little soft for us - but otherwise all was perfect!

Lovely cottage with the nicest host
My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Ashlyn's Langley cottage. We are pretty frequent travelers in normal times, but I am immunocompromised so this was our first trip since 2019(!!) and our first overnight trip with our pandemic dog. We brought tons of stuff for the four-day stay but didn't end up needing most of it because of how well-stocked the cottage was, including doggie bowls, bed, and towel, kitchen supplies (even Sriracha for when my husband forgot to ask for some from Island Nosh where we ordered takeout one evening), extra bedding (I love to be cozy), and a blow dryer. But the best part of the trip was getting to know Ashlyn. We reached out to her when we found out she owns the B&B next door to the cottage and saw her delicious-looking food on her Instagram page. We are big foodies and we texted Ashlyn to find out where we might be able to sample her food and she ended up cooking us a scrumptious breakfast the next morning that accommodated all of my food allergies (avoiding gluten, dairy, and eggs for breakfast is no easy feat). We ended up chatting with her for two hours about all things food, dog, and Whidbey related and we met her adorable and very well-behaved golden retriever named Tabasco. Even though our trip ended up getting rained out, my husband and I enjoyed some quality time and unexpectedly delicious food from Ashlyn's kitchen and around the island, and we plan to return to Whidbey again before the year ends. Thank you Ashlyn!

Relaxing stay
Every host should learn from our hostess. She provisioned the cottage with all that was needed and then some. She was very friendly and so was her dog., but not interfering. Very quiet. One could just sit and listen to the birds.

3 Days on Whidbey
This was the perfect place for my wife and I to relive our very fond memories of living on the island. It was super clean, one of the best we’ve experienced! Ashlyn was great to work with, very attentive to our needs. It was very quiet and comfortable and had all the details we needed. Will definitely stay again!

Another wonderful stay!
We have stayed at this cabin multiple times over the past five years; it says something that this is a place we return to time and again. We love it! This latest trip (7/2 - 7/9/21) included me, my husband, our adult son, and our dog. Although the cabin is small, so much thought has gone into its layout and functionality that it comfortably accommodated three active adults plus dog. As always, the cabin was extremely clean; check-in and out was easy and convenient; and communication with Ashlyn, the owner, was spot-on. Ashlyn is a wonderful hostess with a wealth of information about Whidbey Island and the surrounding area. She has figured out the perfect balance of being available and helpful to guests while in no way obtrusive. I hope we are able to return soon!

Great location on Whidbey
This charming little spot had everything we needed to get out of the city for a few days and enjoy the charms of Whidbey Island. Even though we were in the middle of an extreme heatwave, we managed to stay cool. There are plenty of outdoor shady spots on Ashlyn's property and a fan in the cottage. In less than 15 minutes we could drive to Double Bluff Beach, one of the most spectacular beaches in the state, where our dog loved running free and chasing other pups in the surf. Thanks for a great stay, Ashlyn!

Cozy stay in the treetops
This is our second time staying with Ashlyn. We love it here and always wish we could stay longer. Thanks to Ashlyn and her sidekick Tabasco for a warm welcome. Hope to be back soon!

Cozy secluded stay on Whibey
We wanted a nice quiet relaxing weekend away from the city and that's exactly what we got. Even though the place feels a little older, it is very cozy and has a lot of cute details. The location is very central to Coupeville, Fort Casey, Freeland, and Langley but far away removed that it's very peaceful. Has a lot of nice walks/hikes nearby.

Relaxing little Saratoga cottage
See our review for Aug. 9 - August 20. We loved this place. Feels secluded with a nice view of beautiful trees and a little water too. Ashlyn & Tobasco were like friendly neighbors who were so kind and helpful.

Relaxing, cozy time in Saratoga Beach neighborhood
We are sadly departing the Saratoga Guest Cottage after a 3 week stay. This cute cottage is situated on beautiful grounds with a nice peek a boo water view. You couldn’t ask for a better host than Ashlyn. She was always available with helpful suggestions for the area or questions we had. It’s like having a friendly neighbor (with a lovable dog & friendly chickens). Be sure to take the short walk thru the woods to Saratoga Beach.

Fantastic respite from the city
The Saratoga Cottage is a great place to relax. The cottage is larger than the photos suggest, and it had plenty of comfy spaces for our family of two adults and a small dog. We walked to the beach, read, saw deer and rabbits and only drove in to Freeland on a couple of occasions for take out food. The Payless grocery in Freeland also offered a good selection. It was a delightful getaway, and we certainly hope to return one day.

Like staying in a tree house -- in the best way possible!
We had a fantastic time staying in the Saratoga Guest Cottage for 10 days in July 2019. Both the property and the cottage were even better than described. The cottage sits overlooking treetops toward a filtered view of sparkling water with the snow-capped Olympic Mountains sprawling in the distance. We didn't tire of the view! Ashlyn has clearly put a lot of thought and energy into creating a lovely and comfortable getaway. The cottage itself is the perfect mix of form and function, beauty and comfort. I can't think of anything we needed that wasn't there. The small kitchen is very functional with relatively high quality equipment for a vacation rental unit. It was easy to prepare meals there. Ashlyn herself is warm, friendly, and helpful with information about Whidbey Island and farther afield. We particularly loved the nature trails she has created throughout the property, including the hike down to the road leading to the beach area. The beach is fun to explore. Getting to hike to Baby Island during low tide was a highlight. We hope to return soon! In the meantime, we highly recommend this rental.

How to feel like a local.
Can't say enough amazing things about Ashlyn and her Saratoga Guest Cottage. The accommodations were adorable, comfortable and inviting, (and come with access to a glorious beach), but it was Ashlyn who made our stay unforgettable. She was extremely accessible and with her "insider information" about Whidbey, making us feel like locals during our time on the Island. From suggesting restaurants, to parks, to hikes, to art galleries, to ferry schedules she always had the best information, her love for the Island was evident. She helped make my 60th Mermaid Birthday the best ever, and I would give her six out of five stars if I could!!! Plus she has a wonderful pooch named Tabasco who will melt your heart.

Weekend Away for One Year Anniversary
Ashlyn's studio, and the surrounding property, were lovely and very reasonably priced. The celebratory champagne in the fridge and freshly made cookies on the table were an especially nice touch. We enjoyed an evening stroll to the beach nearby, where we were lucky enough to see a bald eagle perched on a piling only feet from us. We also appreciated being able to make our own dinners in the kitchen. The only (small) recommendations we would offer are: adding cumin to the available spices, a good pair of tongs, a whisk, and measuring spoons. Otherwise, the kitchen had all the accoutrements necessary for dining in. A perfect spot for a romantic weekend away! We hope to return in the future.

Peaceful hideaway
The Saratoga guest apartment is a sweet getaway. The space includes ‘corners’ for numerous activities. Big easy chair in reading nook, desk in master bedroom dormer for work or hobbies, kitchen table for meals, crafts, tiny well equipped kitchen for simple cooking. The spacious property is lovely w lots of trees and fantastic bird songs heard. The space is nice though furniture is a bit tired. Very peaceful setting for a quiet getaway.

Saratoga Passage Get Away
We really enjoyed a quiet and relaxing getaway at the Saratoga Guest Cottage! The cottage is clean, comfy and the grounds are wonderful. We enjoyed the trails and the 10 minute walk to the beach via trail and road. We were also able to find nearby hiking within a short drive and Langley restaurants as well. We found everything as described!
