About this house rental
This 2-bedroom, 1-bath contemporary adobe casita guest home sits on five acres high on a ridge-top just two miles north of Santa Fe, at 7,000'.
The striking 360-degree high-desert views include the famed Sangre de Cristo Mountains' ski hill to the east, west across the Rio Grand Valley to Los Alamos and the Jemez Mountains, and extending all the way north to Colorado.
Arroyos, canyons, ridges, mesas, and mountains surround the casita -- the vistas are unique to northern New Mexico, and the guest house is perfectly sited to take advantage of the breath-taking beauty.
Designed by esteemed Chicago architect Jim Nagle, whose homes have been featured in Architectural Digest, this romantic hideaway has everything you need for graceful living.
The complete kitchen features a French Gascon blue limestone countertop, Thermador gas stove/convection oven, Bosch dishwasher, and SubZero under-the-counter fridge/freezer. Jim Nagle described it as "an entire kitchen in one elegant island."
The exquisite interior walls are hand-plastered with custom colors throughout. The master bedroom features a king-size bed complete with upscale Ralph Lauren bedding, and sheets from Tuscany and Venice.
The expansive deck, which runs the length of the house, is perfect for watching the hummingbirds against the backdrop of northern New Mexico's magnificent sunsets.
Everything you need for barbecuing is in place ... all you have to do is fire up the grill!
You'll love the breath-taking views of the Santa Fe Opera House, the Jemez Mountains, and the Tesuque valley.
And it's a very special experience to watch the occasional thunderstorm moving across the vast expanse of the northern New Mexico sky.
If you visit in winter, you'll cozy up next to the custom-made fireplace in the living room, with its enormous windows allowing you to enjoy the exquisite vistas and scenic mesas.
Year-round, you can hike the private trails right outside your front door, cross-country ski in the arroyo just below your home-away-from-home. You and your family will enjoy an unforgettable stay in this peaceful, quiet getaway.
Furnishings and accessories have been collected from all around the world by Terry. The casita is full of Moroccan lanterns, Thai silks, and dishes and furniture from Mexico, all complementing the warm, natural materials and high-end finishes throughout the guest house.
Birds and wildlife abound in this exclusive, million-dollar neighborhood. Tesuque is an extraordinarily beautiful village, renowned for the old-growth cottonwood trees lining the narrow valley’s creeks.
Tesuque is rich with pinon pines, junipers, cedars, cottonwoods, and aspens ... all because of the year-round streams running through its picturesque canyon.
Perfect for a solitary writer's retreat, romantic getaway, or your next family reunion, this place has it all.
And best of all, this lovely retreat is just five minutes away from all the Santa Fe action.
Terry loves dogs; he's happy to host your four-legged companion.
He's also been known to cook one of his gourmet meals for folks, including the best calabacitas in the state.
He's on-site, and takes great care to create special experiences for his guests. Terry's always ready to answer any questions about the area. He's taken folks to his secret fly-fishing spots, and into town for the insiders' live-jazz nights at the local tapas bar.
He's stocked the casita with fiction and non-fiction books, reflecting his eclectic travels around the world. There's a stereo for your pleasure, along with some of Terry's favorite jazz and bossa nova cd's.

A very spacious living area. All rooms have French doors. Beautiful tile floors. A very comfortable place to stay. Hiking right outside your door.
Host dog, an Australian Shepherd, played with my dog and showed her around. Extremely enjoyable stay, great host!
10-15 minutes to downtown Santa Fe. Tesuque is a great community.

We spent 10 days in this lovely casita that is perched high on a ridge north of downtown Santa Fe in the village of Tesuque. Easy access to town and only 10 minutes to the Santa Fe Opera. Terry and his great dog Toots were the best hosts. The house is very comfortable and has everything needed for a great stay - full kitchen, two sleeping areas, nice bath, and a beautiful living area for relaxing, plus a porch with spectacular views of the mountains. Go and enjoy!

This professionally designed cottage is like living in a work of art. The furnishings are carefully chosen to enhance the environment. The view of the mountains and New Mexico sky is breathtaking.

We were amazed by the location of the property--right at the top of the hills, the best view around. The property was perfect for our small family and well located for the exploring we wanted to do in the area. The place itself is really impressive, beautifully built, lovely details, and comfortable. We loved meeting Terry and Toots. The entire experience was exceptional and we loved the neighborhood, especially the Tesuque Village Market. Highly recommend!

We were here for 6 nights. We enjoyed being away from the city, but still close. The house was nice (heated floors!) and the views were pretty covered with snow. It would be nice to sit out on the patio when its a bit warmer.
Terry was a great host & story teller. Make some time to visit with him if you can.

We had a wonderful (snowy) trip and enjoyed interacting with the owner as well. Very quiet spot with comfortable bed and well stocked kitchen. A nice change from staying in Santa Fe and the restaurant in Tesuque is good!

I stayed five nights with Terry and Toots in their beautiful, hilltop casita. Their property has everything you need from comfortable seating areas, appliances, and kitchen utensils for cooking or bringing food in. There is a great little market five minutes down the hill for groceries, dine-in or takeout. Or, you can be in downtown Santa Fe in less than 10 min.
I loved the quiet, the views and the high desert solitude.
Just as pleasant were the conversations with Terri on the porch. Terri is a great host and a really, really interesting guy. Get him in a conversation about his career experiences and you’ll be amazed what an unassuming, humble, laid-back guy has done with his his great life.
I'm looking forward to coming back to Terry’s casita.

This house is just a few minutes outside Santa Fe and has the most wonderful views. Walk to the front of the property in the morning to greet the sun and sit on the porch in the evenings to witness the sun setting over the mountains. Late in the evening go watch the stars. The house has all the amenities you needs and Terry is the best host. Rent this house you won’t regret it.

The 2 best things - the view from the porch/balcony from a mountain top and visiting with Terry, our host ( read his bio).
Location was short trip - maybe 5 minutes- into center of town.
We had a great time.

The property and its view are stunning and so quiet and peaceful you can take naps on the patio. The next best thing is the host Terry and his pup. We enjoyed our daily talks and visits with them. Dont pass the property up if you are planning a trip to Santa Fe!

Enjoyed my time in this lovely casita. Very peaceful with amazing views of the Tesuque Valley. The home is well stocked with everything you need. Although the wifi is bit slow for those looking/needing to work remotely. Terry is a wonderful host.

Gorgeous location at the top of a hill! The views from the deck are stunning! This dwelling is a New Mexican casita next door to the owner’s home. Tastefully decorated with a southwest theme. The king size bed is very comfortable and the kitchen is situated so you have the beautiful views while cooking. The owner is very friendly and engaging. Very helpful. He has a beautiful Australian Shepherd named Toots! Again very friendly. Our golden retriever was welcomed warmly by both the owner and Toots! We also loved that we were 10 minutes from Santa Fe, but you felt like you were in a mountain community. We would highly recommend this place for people who want to get off the beaten path! Would definitely return!

Beautiful views and unique house. In the mountains and only 5 minutes from Santa Fe. I’d love to see it in bloom this summer. Terrence is a bonus to this property. Delightful host and hope to visit more in the future.

My husband and I loved our stay here last year so much that we returned this year. The views are amazing and Terry is a wonderful host. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway that is still close to Santa Fe, this is the place!

Property and host were exceptional. Terry made us feel at home right away. His pup Toots became our immediate best friend. Tesuque is the perfect launch point for visiting old town Santa Fe, Albequerque, and national parks. Ask Terry to tell you some stories, we enjoyed him so much!

This is the second time we stayed in Tesuque at this awesome casita! We had a wonderful week. We hiked, biked and loved every minute. The view from this casita is amazing! Morning sunrises to evening sunsets are spectacular. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, and the real fireplace was enjoyed every night. Thank you Terry for sharing this slice of heaven!

My family and I just got back from spending a week at this beautiful adobe house. The views from every window are breathtaking and the sunsets are spectacular. This property is a perfect stay to do everything Santa Fe has to offer for a family of 3-4.

Location Location Location. Loved the views, the house, and the owner Terry. Cute little town only 15 minutes from SF and about 45mins to ski SF. Must check out Meow Wolf, Bandelier and 2nd street brewery. Ask for Cindy. Best service ever. Make sure to hit the market at the bottom of the hill. Expensive but really cool vibe.

Terry’s guest house is beautifully furnished and the views are unbelievable. We’ve never seen stars so bright like we did there. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Terry even furnishes dog bowls for your pooch. We spent the week of Thanksgiving there and enjoyed Santa Fe as well as wonderful chats over wine with Terry. The home is stunning, Tesuque and the area are gorgeous, but the highlight for us was meeting Terry.

The house is wonderfully equipped and very comfortable. Our host was warm and kind. The views spectacular. We had unexpected snow overnight on our first evening there and it was a winter wonderland. Quite a treat. The house was warm and cozy the entire week though the temperature dropped pretty low. Highly recommended.

Great location with fantastic panoramic views. Very special place! Terry explained everything about the house and surrounding area. Our 2 dogs had a great time playing in the arroyo and we even had a snow day sitting in front of the fire place. We hope to come back next year.

We recently stayed at Terry Brunner’s lovely casita in Tesuque Hills. Terry’s casita is the one we have been looking to find on our visits to New Mexico. It is perfect for a relaxing, renewing, and peaceful retreat.
The casita is beautifully appointed. The many windows, the open concept, the comfortable furniture, and stunning views of the Jemez Mountains from the porch make his place singularly beautiful of all the places we have stayed in our eighteen years of visiting northern New Mexico. Upon arriving and settling in, we both acknowledged that Terry’s casita in the foothills of the Sanger de Christo Mountains was the perfect place for us to escape to and embrace the beauty of New Mexico.
Terry’s is a fabulous host. He is urbane, an engaging conversationalist, a gracious listener, well-read, and a delight to know. We are readers and when we entered the casita and saw the array of bookshelves filled with books on an endless array of topics, we knew for sure that we had found our home-away-from-home. As it turned out we had a loose connection with Terry from our past.
In the 1970s Terry led the Justice Department’s organized crime task force in Cleveland. We are Cleveland expats and Houston has been our adopted hometown for forty-two years. When Terry told us about his experience we were enthralled.
Terry’s task force led the investigation of the continuing gang war between Italian crime families and Danny Green’s Celtic Club, a group of Irish-American gangsters. Between 1974 and 1977 Cleveland became known as, “Bomb City USA,” after the numerous car and house bombings perpetrated by the rival gangs. In the 1976 there were 36 bombings in Cleveland (more than in Beirut). Terry told us a bit about his experience with Danny Greens who led the Irish gang (Green was also the victim of car bomb in 1977).
In 1975, the Italian crime families contracted William Kirlay to kill Green. He successfully bombed the apartment where Green lived but Green survived the blast. My wife’s youngest sister served on the jury that tried Kiraly and convicted him for the bombing.
What a coincidence meeting Terry and our shared Cleveland experience! Then staying in his heavenly casita in the foothills of the Sangre de Christo Mountains. In all the years we have made our pilgrimages to north, central, New Mexico to refresh and renew our spirits, Terry’s casita has been a singularly exceptional, and rewarding experience. None better.

My husband and I were in great need of a rest and chose Terry's guest house as a base for our visit to Santa Fe. I was a bit apprehensive after making the booking - worried that we might be in a remote location. Immediately after stepping inside the house, I knew we would be happy there. The stylish furnishings, the beautiful Persian rug, the fireplace stacked with wood, Mexican pottery, books, maps and travel brochures made for a very warm welcome. Terry is the consummate host and we truly enjoyed visiting with him. We made several trips down to Santa Fe for shopping and dining but returning to the comfort of the house was always on my mind. Terry's guest house provided a much-needed retreat, and we plan to return next year.

The casita at Tesuque was lovely as described. We encountered some unexpected problems but Terry, our host, addressed them and scheduled repair service as soon as possible. He went out of his way to make our visit enjoyable even to providing fresh flowers and champagne for our anniversary. He truly saved the day.
