About this house rental
A stay at Drinking Horse Haven is unlike any other in the area. The house is located on a multi-generational hay farm right outside the city of Bozeman. Enjoy a rustic Montana getaway without sacrificing the pleasures of the city. We are just a short 12 miles from the airport and only 5 miles from downtown. Our house sits on the edge of a National Forest, in the center of hay fields and tree covered hills which provide the opportunity to catch a glimpse of all sorts of wildlife from rabbits to moose.
The House:
The Haven is a 3 level cedar home with a prow of glass overlooking Bridger Creek. The top two levels are for the private vacation home. The basement is a completely separate apartment and occupied by the property manager. There are no shared spaces between the two units. The main floor has two bedrooms and one full bathroom. The Bunk Room has two sets of bunk beds with one full and three twins beds. The private bedroom is equipped with a nice new queen bed. The second floor is the loft and has its own full private bathroom with a King bed and a twin. The loft is open and overlooks the living room and kitchen with wonderful views of the creek. There is also a private balcony with views of the forest and sugar loaves. The rooms are decorated with cedar log beds and furniture which gives the home a touch of western flare. Plus, when it snows the Haven turns into your own warm and cozy giant snow globe. You’ll feel surprisingly secluded at the end of the road making it easy to immerse yourself in the lifestyle and serenity of Montana.
Kitchen:
We know how nice it is to share a meal with family and friends so we provide a fully stocked and functional kitchen for any and all of your cooking or baking or hosting needs. You won’t need to worry about having enough plates or cups or silverware for your gatherings. We even have dishware for the kiddos to use. Should you wish to enjoy a meal outside, we provide several foldout tables with plenty of extra chairs. If outdoor cooking is more your style then enjoy the views around the grill.
Internet:
Working remotely is now more common than ever and we are prepared to accommodate those needs. The kids bedroom is equipped with a desk while the private queen room and loft both have roll top desks, each situated next to an outlet. We have Starlink internet which provides steady reliable speeds. It consistently supports successful zoom calls.
Our Location:
There are several attractions within walking distance of The Haven. Take your family on day hikes to a couple of Bozeman’s most popular family friendly trailheads without even starting the car. Grab some quarters and walk down to the Fish Hatchery and feed the trout as they chase you along the bank. If you’re coming to the area for its popular fishing attractions then meander down to the creek with your fishing license and enjoy the solitude of your own private fishing spot without being late for dinner! If winter sports are attracting you to the area then you’ll enjoy a fast and easy commute to the Bridger Bowl Ski Hill.
Take day excursions to Hyalite, Big Sky, Yellowstone Park, The Gallatin River, The Madison River, the Yellowstone River, or numerous hiking trails in the area for daily adventures. Bozeman is surrounded by six mountain ranges and each offers its own opportunities. Ask our team for recommendations and we’ll set you off for an adventure you’ll never forget!

This was a fantastic experience. The host was super friendly and responsive. We had plenty of space for 8 guys on a snowboarding trip. Easy to get into town for dinner as well as a short drive to Bridger Bowl. The space was very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend and hope to be back!

The house was perfect in every way. Super good hosts as well

The location is excellent. The property is showing age, particularly outside that needs paint. The bathroom upstairs is not very big or convenient. Hard to take a shower. The kitchen utensils were adequate except there is a shortage of spoons. The managers were responsive to our requests. The road in to the property is gravel and very bumpy and dusty.

We had a wonderful time. The location is really great and the wildlife a treat. The big wall of windows makes the place. Wouldn't change a thing.

Visiting our MSU student
The Haven location is ideal. 10 minutes out of town, 10 minutes to ski, 2 trail heads, nature and quiet. We saw deer most mornings down by the creek. Would love to stay again.

Beautiful property!
This was the perfect property for our family to spend Thanksgiving week in Montana. Close enough to town, and nestled at the base of the mountains. We saw several deer grazing throughout the field and by the creek. We hiked Drinking Horse Trail for beautiful views! Highly recommend!

Great views.
This cabin was a short drive to Bozeman. The views from the windows and porches were beautiful. It was peaceful and relaxing. All the rooms were spacious. The kitchen was well stocked if you wanted to cook, and there was a grill you could use. There were hiking trails nearby as well, if you wanted to get out and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery. I would love to stay here again.

Amazing--exactly as depicted
Stayed here with a large group. Owner/manager was super responsive. Location was great--nice views, but still close to the city. Loved that there were two good local hike trailheads by the house. Not difficult getting an uber from the house. Would recommend!

For the Nature Lover
If you like to hike, watch wildlife, or even just look at the mountain views, this is the place for you! A short walk down the lane to either Drinking Horse trail or across the street to the M trails. We hiked both multiple times during our stay. We recommend the easy Drinking Horse trail for both going up and down as the views are spectacular.
We saw a black bear in the distance, although there is evidence they stroll through the property. There was a turkey family that was around regularly, and a few of them came up to the deck for us to watch. It was nice to have such a large property to be able to walk up the hills to watch the sunset, walk down along the stream, and down to the fish hatchery to see all the rainbows in the trout pond. You just don't get this experience renting a house in a neighborhood.
The property was just what we expected and the hosts were wonderful. Even if I visit the area again without it being a family gathering, I would definitely consider staying here for the views and not needing to drive to hike some great trails.

Great for families and great location
It is far enough out of town to have privacy, but close enough that getting groceries doesn’t take long. Great view and enough room for a family. Manager and caretaker were wonderful, responding to our messages promptly. We look forward to staying here again!

Great place
The house worked just perfectly for our ski/snowmobile vacation. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The views out the big windows are gorgeous. We like to cook our own meals, so the fully stocked kitchen was appreciated. The property manager was very responsive and helpful.

Great location and house
Loved our time here- beautiful wall of windows- close enough to town to get what we needed but felt like we were in the wilderness- did hiking nearby and skiing in Big Sky. Saw a male and female moose on the property one night, deer during the day. Hope to return someday!

Really cool spot right by the M hiking trail. Took the kiddos to the fish hatchery which was fun and had a great time exploring around Bozeman. This home was in a nice, convenient spot for our travels and we’d definitely return again.

What a wonderful hideaway!
It's a great place for families. Very spacious. Secluded yet right outside of town so easy access to food and supplies. Also has great access to trail heads. You can walk to Drinking Horse Mountain, the fish hatchery or the M. I walked from the front door up Drinking Horse Mountain and to the fish hatchery to feed the fish (don't forget your quarter) and back - my fitness app said I accomplished a 5k. Comfortable beds and living space to enjoy time with family. In addition, if you are looking for places to visit you are within a days drive of multiple BIG hikes and beauty beyond your wildest imagination! I highly recommend this vacation rental and look forward to visiting again soon!

Okay
A nice big space; a great floor plan. We did however experience some cleanliness issues right off the bat. Coffee grounds left in coffee maker. Dishwasher was full of dishes, we didn’t know whether clean or dirty, thus, had to start dishwasher after arriving. It was a very muddy stay for us because of weather, wasn’t well informed about no asphalt road to house. Plus, without four wheel drive, we wouldn’t have made it up hill leading to house. We had four wheel drive, thus, not an issue, but our vehicle was caked in mud. Otherwise, it was ok.

Great location near Bozeman
We enjoyed being close to town and the view from the living area. It was a great place to have a small dog to run and play. Unfortunately, the beds were very uncomfortable and the bedding was torn and worn. The kitchen and some of the utensils (pots and pans) were dirty when we arrived. We cleaned the kitchen before using it. It appears the place has just not been taken care of recently. Someone lives in the downstairs apartment and the cigarette smoke was evident coming up into the rental area.
We would not choose to stay here again but it was comfortable enough to stay the amount of time we had planned.

Enjoyed the stay. Tim was helpful to give local advice. Convenient location. Would definitely stay again. Hard to get straight 5.0 from this group. Saw wildlife in property and caught and released a few brown trout for the next group.
