About this house rental
“Big Blue” is a large house – over 4,200 square feet – located in the beautiful and historic Hyde Park, North End district of the city, literally steps away from some of Boise’s best dining and parks, within walking distance of downtown, and a short bike ride from the best that Boise has to offer.
The house has four bedrooms, a very large living room with bar, formal dining room, finished basement/entertainment area, and backyard w/BBQ.
Big Blue is perfect for larger groups and families. There are two master suites with queen beds, 1 room that serves as an office/sleeping with a queen bed, a downstairs bedroom with a full and twin bunk bed set along with a full-size futon. Eight people can sleep comfortably in the bedrooms.
The best part of the house is its location: in historic Hyde Park, you are literally within a block of Goody’s candy shop, Java Coffee Shop, Hyde Park Bar & Grill, numerous restaurants, antique shops, book stores, spas, and many boutique shops. You’re also a short 5-minute walk to Camel’s Back Park, with hiking and running trails, tennis courts, and playgrounds.
Although you’re close to everything, you’ll enjoy the peace and quiet of the leisurely neighborhood, back yard and bbq.
Other amenities include large screen plasma TV, Wi-Fi, Roku and a large fenced yard.
A great house for executives, families or large groups. You'll find that you don't even need a car when you stay here, as the wide tree-lined streets are very pedestrian and bicycle friendly.
Within one mile of the house: grocery shopping, numerous restaurants and bars, yoga studios and spas, hospitals and clinics, theaters and cinemas, and much, much more.
Please note that there is a $20/night pet fee and a large group fee for groups over five people.

I am a VRBO Superhost and I know how important it is to leave reviews so I am going to 100% honest about this property. I WOULD NOT recommend this property to stay at.The pictures do not represent the property at all! The back yard is not a yard it is simply unkept full of weeds. The railings going down to the yard are loose & dangerous for anyone needing assistance getting down the stairs. There was actual screws coming out of the wall! Not to mention there is an apartment in the alley garage that looks directly into the backyard, so there is no privacy. The foul smell coming from the dumpsters in the alley made it very unpleasant to sit out back. There's a gas bbq, but no propane provided. The home itself was not clean to a hosting standard. It is posted as no shoes, however the kitchen floor was dirty, not to mention stained carpet & stains on the couch. There was 6 of us staying at the home & 4 hangers in each closet. The kitchen is VERY minimal in dishware, bowls, cooking utensils certainly not enough for 10 people unless you use the cheap plastic ware. No coffee, no water for guests. 4 p.m. check in & 10 a.m. check out is very inconvenient especially considering that you are required to wash & put away dishes & start a load of laundry. There wasn't enough laundry soap to start a load of laundry & the soap that was left was watered down fabric softener. I also found the host to be very threatening about charging extra fees for everything! Ridiculous!

Hyde Park is a great location and this house has plenty of room to gather together.

Was so fun to stay within walking distance of Hyde Park. Was convenient for graduation at BSU. Owner was responsive when we contacted him about an issue.

Location and fair value for the money.

We love Hyde park shops, restaurants and hikes. House was great for our family and easy to go see kids at BSU.

The house is in a great location next to many restaurants and downtown. The house is very large but needs some TLC. The bed in the basement was so uncomfortable the couple staying down there moved to the living room couch. Many things were just old and beat up like the couch and other furnishings. The hostess was responsive but the upstairs AC was not fixed even though the handy man came over 3 times. There were several minor issues but I will stop.

Excellent location for Treefort
The property was the right size for our group. The living room, dining room and kitchen area are massive and where we spent most of our time. The Hyde Park area, where the house is located, is amazing, Walking distance to restaurants and coffee shops. Also very close to the downtown Boise area.

What a neat old house. Plenty of room for all. Location could not be better with restaurants and shops just steps from the front door. We will return

North End Vibe
We loved being a few door down from Goody's, our favorite ice cream shop, and almost across from the Pub & Grill. Even so, the neighbor was quiet , and we had no trouble parking. We also enjoyed the large living room and fireplace. Virgil was very responsive to any concerns we expressed. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Laura and Family

Wonderful time!!
We were in town to celebrate our daughter's wedding. This was the perfect spot for our little clan to use as home base. So many great places within walking distance. Virgil was excellent with communication.
The things that could use improvement: The kitchen could have been better organized, and there were actually dirty pans put away in the cupboard. We also had to get supplies like TP, paper towels, a clean kitchen sponge, which surprised us. The backyard was a great place to hang out, but was also surprised it hadn't been mowed or weeded a bit.
Overall, we really did had a terrific time and would definitely recommend the Big Blue House!

This was our first visit to Boise. We came for a family wedding. Big Blue was perfect for our group - truly large living, dining and kitchen area where everyone could hang out together; amazing location where we could walk to anything - coffee shops, ice cream, bars, restaurants, shops, hiking, food store; 3 1/2 baths - a necessity for everyone getting ready at the same time; and unique old house with lots of character in historic area. Would definitely return!

Great location
So much to do in the neighborhood. We were minutes away from things we wanted to do in Boise and also close to things we didn't know we wanted to do until we saw them!
The house itself is spacious and the owner is very responsive. Check out the upstairs configuration if you plan on having 2 couples up there though. I also have to say firmer mattresses would make a big difference in the comfort factor.
All in all we had a great time with family here.
Thanks!

Large House with a Great Location!
We stayed for a weekend with family members that came into town for a birthday celebration. The house was large enough to accommodate 8 adults. It is an older house but that is part of its charm. The location is on a busy street but the noise levels in the house were not an issue. It is just a block from the Hyde Park area and only a few blocks from Camel Back Park. It was fun to walk around the neighborhood and the various shops.

Great Location
My husband and I stayed here for a week to checkout the surrounding areas. The location is fantastic. The downtown shopping section is literally located across the street. Plenty of bars, restaurants and cute shops. Easy 15min drive from airport and surrounding neighborhoods.

It’s a beautiful home close to nature and downtown. Highly recommend!

Great location!
Great place to stay with a group. Very open. It is an older house so it doesn't seem super clean even though it is. Has everything you need and you can't be the location for walking through Hyde Park. Check in was a breeze.

Excellent location, wonderful house
We spent two weeks at this lovely home and enjoyed every minute of it. Our kids loved that there was a candy/ice cream and toy store on the next block over. My husband and I enjoyed the delicious restaurants that were so close we felt comfortable leaving the kids at home for a hour and having a date night. The hiking trails at Camelsback Park were awesome and provided us the opportunity to exercise every day. The play structure there was also perfect for the kids. Hyde Park and the North End was the perfect place to stay. The neighborhood is beautiful with all the historic homes and you’re 15 minutes from anywhere you went to go.

Great Location
The house is very cute and well located. There are cute shops and restaurants right down the street along with a grocery about half mile away. It has easy access to the freeway too.
The house was pretty much stocked with everything we need. We would just suggest a few ideas for guests because not every bathroom had the supplies: body wash for every bathroom, a blender and cookies sheets for the kitchen.
We had a wonderful time. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Neat place in Great Location
The Big Blue House is a great house with so much character. It’s also in a terrific location right near fun shops and restaurants in the North End/Hyde Park and just a couple minutes from downtown. We have been going to Boise for a few years to visit family and go to football games and always stayed in hotels. The Big Blue House was such a treat for us and the owner was so accommodating and made everything easy. We will be staying here again!
