About this cottage rental
Beautiful 60 acre horse farm on Lake Hartwell. A gorgeous destination for weddings and events, we have two homes available for rent, along with stall and pasture availability for those traveling with horses. One cottage is a three bedroom with two king-sized beds, one queen-sized bed and one full-sized. We also have a one bedroom cabin that sleeps four, with a full-sized bed plus a two person futon. To access the smaller cabin, please look at our other listing, Spotted Fawn Farm/Cabin, The Don, or Lake House.
Our farm is located on the boarder of Georgia and South Carolina, about 10 minutes off I-85. We have four cottages that are professionally decorated, are pet friendly to WELL BEHAVED LEASHED DOGS, and are also accessible by boat. (Please note that dogs left alone in the house must be in a crate!) Our places are spread out over the farm and are all very different, just like our guests. There is a lower driveway that makes taking coolers and kayaks to the dock easier.
Our farm has long winding trails, babbling creeks, sunny pastures with exotic animals and loads of horses. There is a shared boat dock for sunning or docking and cocktail hour always starts at 4:00! We frequently host weddings and events and special packages can be arranged. We love families and it is the perfect place to get away from technology and enjoy nature. (Although we have added WiFi for work getaways.)
We are available and set up for weddings. If you’re interested in bringing a horse or to inquire about weddings.
Lastly, there is no kitchen table. The kitchen is spacious and there is an outdoor table for dining and another large table at our outdoor kitchen but our cottage kitchen does not have one for large indoor meals. While the bedrooms are nice and comfortable, the living area of this cottage is small. The cottage is great for a couple with kids, two or even three adult couples, days spent outdoors, but I always want to caution that 8 adults in the cottage will find it cramped if staying indoors. We are truly a farm best enjoyed outdoors and the cottage isn’t a place for parties or indoor stays.

We are animal lovers so obviously we loved being able to interact with so many of them at Spotted Fawn Farm. The owners are serious about caring for the animals they have taken in.
The house reminded me of being home with grandma. It rained so much that we only got to take our boat out for a few hours one afternoon. But we watched football, played cards, grilled out and kept our eyes on the windows to catch glimpses of fawns and wildlife!
Overall, a great family holiday weekend.

Excellent Host
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this quiet cottage on Lake Hartwell. We loved seeing all the rescued animals and talking to the folks that helped out at the farm. Our Host did an excellent job helping us during our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Cutest cottage
Walking into this cottage reminded me of my grandparents home when I was a kid. The owners have done a wonderful job with restoration and decor.
Some of the animals are Just a few feet away and my little one got the giggles every time she heard the donkey.

Lovely stay
We had such a lovely stay at the Spotted Fawn Farm. My animal-loving daughter was in heaven. And my son, who is rarely far from his video console, had the best time running outside and climbing trees. The cottage is cozy and well equipped, the beds are comfortable, and the wifi fast and reliable. The front porch is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee early in the morning. My kids' only complaint was that the TV was too small, but I did not mind that at all ;)
The farm is beautiful and Elexis such a gracious host; her love for the animals on the farm is evident. We even got to try some fresh eggs straight out of the hen house! The access to the lake was the one not super convenient thing, but there are several lakeside parks 10-20 min away (including Tugaloo State Park).
If you're bringing kids, make sure to pack rain boots and a couple extra changes of clothes (they will get muddy!). And if you're bringing pets, the pet fee is actually PER PET (I did not see this spelled out on the listing) and they prefer that you leave it in cash for the cleaning crew.
We hope to return very soon!

Perfect unique getaway
Waking up in a cute cottage, then going feed the animals, explore during the day, the back to the cottage for game night and stories by the fire. Who could ask for more? Elexis was very friendly, and so were all of the animals, especially the pig who came to our cottage on the last day to say goodbye.

I booked this property for my family of 6 to stay in while we were in town for a funeral. It was perfect for our short visit to Reed Creek.

Beautiful and Comfortable
The cottage is quaint, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The surrounding farm with rescued animals is an attraction in itself. Beds were extremely comfortable, everyone slept well.
Kitchen is equipped for basic cooking; we had no trouble with breakfast but if you're looking to whip up a gourmet dinner the pots and pans may not be up to the task. Owner is incredibly helpful though and I'm sure they would help with specific requests.

Beautiful cottage on a cute farm
The farm was adorable. I loved seeing all the animals. The outdoor communal kitchen area was really neat (fridge, stove, sink, various board games, puzzles, etc.). Nice little gathering place. The property owners were friendly and helpful. All in all a great trip.

Very clean
This is one of the cleanest VRBO we have stayed in. The owner answered all of questions quickly. They even checked on us to see if we needed anything. We will stay here again.

We didn’t want to leave! Neither did our dog!
Of all the vacation rentals we’ve stayed at, this one was the most fun. We loved all the animals & the interesting stories on each of them. The cottage was super comfortable & spacious on a nice piece of property with lots to do. Our dog was in heaven!! It was in a very peaceful, country setting, yet close to the town of Hartwell. Hosts were very friendly, communicative, & interesting people. We hope to be back soon!

We were there of a family reunion. We enjoyed stay in the Cottage and watching the animals play. The property was not far my aunt and uncles house where we could come a go as we please!

Perfect getaway
The cottage was absolutely adorable! It was cozy and the master bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The animals were perfect, we really enjoyed watching them interact with each other! Although the dock was a bit of a walk/short drive, it was peaceful and secluded and we were able to catch some catfish! We would definitely stay here again!

One of our Favorites!
Our family loves to visit Spotted Fawn Farm. This was the first time we visited without a full schedule of Clemson Football, so we were able to thoroughly enjoy everything this time. We have been here multiple times and will definitley be coming back!

Calming retreat
This is one of those places that instantly make you smile and relax.Soothing music playing and a breeze from the open widow was lovely. The place was decorated beautifully. We have a 5 and 14 year old that enjoyed the animals the whole time. The owners were wonderful. You'll definitely sleep good here in those comfortable beds with over the top bedding. The place has everything you need. As we drive away my 14 year old grandson said he loved this weekend. That says it all.

Peaceful and Unique Farm
This Farm was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations! We stayed here for New Years and had a quiet and relaxing time bringing in 2021. The cabin was bigger than expected and was great for me, my fiancé and our German Shephard. Unfortunately it rained for the first 2 days but eventually we were able to go explore the farm and met such sweet animals with unique personalities. As we explored the farm, we found each property had it's own style and flavor. We also were able to meet Elexis and her husband, such an amazing people that had hearts of gold for people and animals. Elexis on New Years day when out of her way to go get a hair dryer for me, who does that! You can read their amazing story, but it only gives you so much insight. After meeting them it was clear how kindhearted and wonderful these people really are. If you are looking for a place to visit that has a lot to see and explore with a peaceful atmosphere, I would recommended you come here.

It was so great to spend time on the farm! I loved Anita the pig and the horses and emus. All were great and Elexis and Buddy are fantastic hosts! The cottage is very cute and nicely decorated. We hope to go back in the spring or summer to experience life on the farm in the warmer months.

Perfect, restful stay in beautiful surroundings
From booking and the fast and friendly communication that followed, everything about our stay was lovely. The cottage is peaceful and private enough to enjoy a break as a couple (or family!) with its own fire pit and facilities, but the option to explore the farm and meet all the rescue animals under their care was wonderful. Beautiful, creative and clearly much-loved property and lots of animals of all types given a chance to thrive. Thank you so much for welcoming us.

Wow
This place was amazing! The animals were so cute and the cottage was adorable. The trails were so much fun to the lake that we star gazed at. We had fires every night. There’s also a really cool outdoor TV area on the other side of the animals that is decorated just like a magazine cover. Such a sweet gem. The owners were also very nice! And so were all their doggies. Great trip.

Charming Getaway
So quiet. Cottage was charming and cozy. Enjoyed the animals. Loved hearing cows mooing and chickens, turkeys and donkeys doing their thing. A great place to meet halfway with my parents from Florida. Only complaint was no table for eating together but we figured it out! Thanks for a memorable long weekend!

Wonderful Place to Escape
I read so many wonderful reviews about this place before booking. They were spot on! The cottage was beautiful and cozy and had everything we needed. Even without TV and with a lot of rain, we still had a great time. Even the rain hitting the roof was soothing. As someone who lives in the city, it was purely magical to look out the window and see a horse grazing or emus walking around in the nearby pastures or fawns playing just outside. And the owners were fantastic! They made sure we had everything we needed and were quick to respond to any questions we had during our stay. On our first night, one of the owners was headed out I believe. But when he saw us, he stopped his truck and got out to talk. Then he proceeded to show us around the farm, invited us to pick pears, introduced us to the animals and let us feed them. I'm pretty sure he was on his way to run an errand but you wouldn't know it by the amount of time he spent showing us around. My son is a huge animal lover so he was in heaven! I had been looking for a place to getaway with him that felt safe during these crazy times and one that he would truly enjoy. It was perfect! We could not have picked a better place to forget about the world. I'd like to add my son is 16. Anyone with teenagers knows they aren't always excited about much, especially spending time with their parents. But he had a blast too! When it was rainy, we just spent our time playing board games and cooking meals and talking about the world. It was much needed quality time! The animals, the lake, the peace and quiet and this charming little cottage provided us a great escape!
