Each year my daughter, granddaughter and I travel to Sanibel/Captiva. This was our first time to actually stay on Captiva and it was a dream.
The house and complex are beautiful. Close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. We walked everywhere!
The screened porch was one of our favorite parts of the house and we enjoyed lots of time relaxing and talking there
Sunsets are amazing and just a quick walk down the boardwalk to the beach.
We have already booked this home again for 2025!
Thank you to the Campbells for sharing your home with us.

Perfect beach vacation getaway in a very nice neighborhood. The only thing I did not give five stars was because the tennis courts are not yet operational and we had very much looked forward to using them.
Loved the Shipyard restaurant for breakfast and Pizza dinner.

We stayed here over the Christmas Holidays. The house is very well appointed and had everything we needed, including beach towels, beach chairs, and beach umbrellas. We cooked all our meals with the exception of one night during our two week stay and had access to all the kitchen equipment we needed for our meals. The beds were super comfortable and the house was very clean and well maintained. The location is close to the outdoor (heated) pool and a short walk to the beach. There is a farmers market on Tuesdays during the winter in South Seas so we enjoyed walking there and picking up treats and fresh produce from the house. The Island Store and all the restaurants on Andy Rosse Lane are also conveniently located and within walking distance as well. Carole was very responsive to our questions and requests. We will most definitely stay here again.

From the time we arrived to when we left only Happiness to report. The home was beautiful. Loves the porch each morning. Close to beach and pool. Home was perfect for our family. Can’t wait to come back. Area was quiet and just what we needed. Owners are very kind and quick to answer any questions. Highly recommend. ☀️

The Sunset properties (homes and amenities) are in very good shape in comparison to other properties for rent on Captiva and Sanibel. This unit was very nice. It was clean, had a good selection of kitchen items and beach chairs. It was close to the pool and tennis courts, but not too close to hear everything. The walk to the beach was very short and we enjoyed watching the sunset every night. Andy Rossie lane is just a short walk from the unit. It has a small general store, a few restaurants and an coffee/ice cream shop currently open.

Property is convenient to all Restauant’s & Captiva shopping. Beach essentials were plentiful (umbrellas/chairs) and a nice beach cart. Short distance to Beach. Kitchen had everything for food preparation & well stocked. Owner has pride of ownership with home beautifully decorated. Screened porch great for morning coffee & afternoon HH. Great stay

Great House
This house is located in the small private community of "sunset captiva". The community property is managed well, the host was great and responsive and the community has a nice pool, tennis courts and very close easy access to the beach. Its also incredibly close to watersport rentals, boat rentals, the general grocery store and several island type restaurants that are all decent to great. The beach is great, big enough but also feels quaint and private. Captiva is an amazing tropical lush island with a quiet private feel and this house is perfect for a small family to easily and comfortably enjoy their stay and time. Loved everything about the house. Zero complaints.

Another Perfect Beach Trip
You cannot go wrong by staying in Sunset Captiva. But, Miss Carole does an exceptional job and is a super hostess! We have been to her property many times. It feels like a home away from home!

Sunset Captiva
My husband and I really enjoyed our week long stay! Great location, easy walk or golf cart ride to the best restaurants and a quick walk to the beach. The development property was beautifully maintained and the house was fully equipped with anything we needed. Also very quiet throughout the area. No complaints at all and would absolutely book again for future trips!

6 Very Large Cockroaches in Less Than a Week!
We highly recommend Captiva. The island is beautiful and we had a great time on the beach, at the local restaurants and shopping.
Unfortunately we cannot recommend this property as we experienced six very large flying cockroaches in the bedrooms, kitchen, and family room in less than a week. We had to leave our vacation early as our kids were startled and screaming after seeing the sixth cockroach run across the family room floor and up into the sofa! My wife and I had three kids sleeping in our bed on vacation that night. It was enough already.
I have never left a very bad travel review in my life, but would hate to see another family travel and then go through all of this chaos.
Keep in mind that these flying roaches come out at night. We typically seen them after 10-11pm so most people may not see them if they’re already in bed sleeping.
Carole finally had an exterminator come by after we notified her of the sixth cockroach crawling up into her sofa, but we were just finishing up packing our bags and kindly asked the exterminator to come back after we left. The last thing we needed was one of our kids to have a reaction to the chemicals as we prepare for a 20 hour drive back home. I did show the exterminator yet another dead cockroach under the TV Stand that appeared to be there for a while.
Unfortunately we were forced to leave our vacation early after seeing the 6th cockroach crawl up into the sofa. We provided pictures and videos of all of these cockroaches to the owner Carole and asked for a refund for the last 2 days. She surprisingly refused any refund despite the circumstances. We will try and get a partial refund via VRBO or our credit card.

Cozy Cottage
The place was lovely. Very homey and not fussy. Overall it was a nice place to stay. If you are looking for fancy then this isn’t your place. If you are looking for cozy and family friendly then look no further. It was perfect for our little family. The master bedroom bed was comfy and so are the living room couches. The extra bar area was perfect for drinks that didn’t fit into the refrigerator and easy kid access. The screened in porch got a lot of use for breakfasts.
The only thing that we weren’t happy with (and this has nothing to do with the house itself) was the beach access. The path to the beach is a short walk and beautifully lit-which is nice-but is is very close to public access so the beach was very crowded. We visit sanibel/captiva multiple times a year during all seasons and this was unusual for captiva beaches. So maybe it was just a fluke-but we couldn’t use our beach. We drove to another beach where other family members were staying and it was less crowded.

Perfect house in paradise!
We really went back and forth between Sanibel and Captiva when planning this trip, but we made the right choice. Captiva is a gorgeous tropical paradise. The property itself was impeccably clean, the bedding was crisp and fresh and cooking supplies were abundant. We slept in the master upstairs and our daughter who is 10 chose the daybed up with us in the loft which worked out great. The screened in porch was heaven and we spent every evening out there playing cards and talking and enjoying the beautiful breeze and the sound of the palm trees. The upstairs deck was the perfect spot to watch the stars or sit with a coffee in the morning. We ended up renting a golf cart from Sanibel Carts which wasn't necessary because you could walk to so much, but was a lot of fun to explore in. Laura at Sanibel Carts was a gem helping us track one down when the whole island was sold out and they delivered the cart to the house and picked it up at the end. There is a place to plug in an electric cart under the house. The Sunset Captiva neighborhood was beyond perfect for our family. The pool was sparkling and perfectly heated, and while hopping during spring break, never over crowded. I spent many an afternoon on a lounge chair under an umbrella with my book. Beach access was easy with a pretty level boardwalk in great condition and a shower to help you wash off your feet and shoes on the way back. The house has an outdoor shower and low sprayer for feet and shoes too. The beach was clean and not too crowded even during a very busy week. I shelled every morning at sunrise and found conchs, whelks, scallops in many colors, and so many more. I checked out Turner Beach as well, and found so many treasures at our beach I decided to just stay there. We loved being walking distance from so many fun restaurants including the famous Mucky Duck. My one word of advice is this, while Sanibel is an easy drive, you will not want to spend your whole trip running back and forth and there is no true grocery store or drugstore on Captiva. You can grab booze, snacks, sunscreen, etc, but not really food to make whole meals. Definitely stock up on everything you will need on your way in so you don't spend so much time running around. Also, the beach store in Captiva will inflate any pool rafts for you, they said they would even do ones brought from home. If you are looking for a very relaxing fun vacation, don't look further. This is the place.

Great place to stay. Loved it
Only negative is there was daily early work on landscaping. I wish we would have been made aware of that.

Relax and Enjoy!
Wonderful accommodations and location! The home has everything you might need and is located only a short walk to the beach, the pool and grills, downtown Captiva with a small general store, boat rentals, tours, numerous restaurants, shops, and an art gallery. We would definitely stay here again.

Fabulous stay
We had a great time at this perfectly located house. The house and its screened in porch are comfortable and homey. The tennis and pickleball courts were great, the pool is nice, and beach access is easy. The development is low key and not crowded, but proximate to restaurants and bike rentals just a short walk away.

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing week.

Over all Disappointment
Even though the house was close to the pool and had a very nice back porch, there were many issues with the house.
Cleanliness was an issue both inside and underneath the house with beach equipment. In fact, the second day of our vacation I spent over an hour under the steps washing and cleaning beach equipment which was rusted and caked with sand.
TV in living room did not have channels stated in ad. Master bedroom TV did not work for over a week and required intervention by home owner.
The refrigerator/freezer was in terrible shape with a broken ice maker putting out ice cubes that contained rust. Owner was notified and planned on replacing the unit but -- because of circumstances -- could not obtain a replacement during our stay. We had no ice or water dispenser in the refrigerator/freezer.
Toilet seat in guest bathroom had a broken seat. Dryer door was damaged and you had to slam the door shut to get it to work. In addition to a damaged dining room table chair, drawers in the master bedroom dresser would fall out when opened. The air conditioner filter in the loft area was covered with dirt and dust. Several electric outlets did not work.
We were notified less than 24 hours before arrival that a project in Sunset Captiva was not completed and we would be unable to park at the house. This was a real problem. We had to lug groceries, suitcases and two large fishing boxes (that we had shipped to Captiva) in 90 degree weather. It would have been helpful if the owner had made arrangements for a rental golf cart even for 24 hours so that it could have been used on arrival.
I met the owner and she was nice and personable. However, either her cleaning personnel or other renters did not inform her of the house problems/issues. But that does not excuse the owner from knowing about -- and fixing -- problems *prior to* a guest's arrival.
We have stayed before at other homes in Sunset Captiva and never had these type of issues. I was disappointed that with the cost of the rental fees we paid we had these kind of issues. Not sure if owner would consider some reimbursement of rental fee.

Perfect
The house was clean and in need of nothing. Great kitchen!! Master Bedroom was DIVINE!! I slept better then at home. The location was great and my kids love taking a dip in the pool after the beach while I got lunch started. I will definitely stay here again.

Spotless and met all of our needs
I'll start by saying we're really picky travelers and this was like vacationing in a model home, new furnishings and fantastically clean. When we walked in my husband said "Oh, you picked a good one!". We prepared all of our meals on-site and found the kitchen well equipped. The location is great, just one unit from the pool and beach boardwalk. The A/C kept the house cool even when the heat index was well over 100. Overall, just a really comfortable stay. And did I mention how clean it was? We would definitely stay here in the future.

My husband and I have stayed in this community over the past 5 years. This home décor was lovely, very clean, provided all the beach necessities: umbrella, beach/pool toys, beach cart (a huge plus), and beach chairs. The home is close to the pool and grill - which was great. They were also well supplied with linens, beach towels, paper towels, toilet paper and kitchen products. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in 2021. Thank you for a wonderful vacation, in these very trying times.

Perfect family getaway
Fully equipped home, steps away from pool, tennis, pickle ball, and a short walk (on a boardwalk!) to the beach. Multiple restaurants within a block. Love the sandy beaches of Captiva... and the home provided plenty of chairs for the beach. Only downside is that there is not a reasonably priced way to get from the airport to the island. We made multiple trips to the airport as our adult children came and went in shifts. Although it provided access to less expensive stores off the island.:) Prompt and thorough communication with the owner was appreciated!
