About this cottage rental
Far from the crowds and Condos... Far from the noise and tourist traps... There is the old Hawaii of HANA, a small community overlooking beautiful Hana Bay on the windward east end of Maui. Hana is cooled by the trade winds that blow across the Pacific and nourish us with evening showers that make this part of Maui lush and tropical.
As you travel the magical 'road to Hana' you leave the real world behind and slowly enter the land of old Hawaii, with waterfalls, majestic coastal views and jungle rain forests. By the time you arrive in Hana you will sense a slight change. You will feel a slower pace, more peaceful and quiet.
As you follow the private drive through the tropical flower garden to our secluded Tradewinds Cottage, you will discover the Hawaii that you came to see.
Our two bedroom, one bath cottage has just been beautifully remodeled. It features a full kitchen with granite countertops, a gas range, microwave and coffee maker. The cottage has a queen size bed and two twin beds. It has satellite TV, DVD player, plus wireless internet access.
This vacation rental is fully permitted. Permit #STHA 2018/0001, SUP2 2012/0034
**NOTE: There is no longer a hot tub at this cottage. You may see the hot tub mentioned in reviews but it was removed during the recent remodel.

This house was perfect for our 2 night stay in Hana. I loved how private and secluded the house was yet still 5 minutes from Hana. Everything was perfect, 10/10 would highly recommend.

Nice secluded cottage as a great place to come back and crash at. Also nice to have easy access to Hana beach park before heading out of town
4.7
Very refreshed after staying for a couple of days with my family in the thick of Hana’s greenery. Very easy to get to off of The Hana Hwy. Close enough to Hana without being in town.

We enjoyed our brief stay here. It was well-located for our time in Hana and had everything we needed.

The Tradewinds Cottage was a dream. Secluded in is own private world of lush green and flowering trees. My favorite was a blooming orchid with it's roots nestled in the branches of a tree. Seeing coconuts and flowering trees out the window while showering was amazing too. This place was spotless and even bigger than i imagined. I believe it listed approximately 750 square feet but it felt spacious. The covered deck and seating area was an added bonus and literally no bugs. Even though there were other cottages nearby we never saw or heard other visitors. The kitchen was well stocked with every amenity and utensil you could need. We stayed here for 2 nights while we divided up the road to hana drive, which i highly recommend doing. You need to eat early if you plan on dining out as by 6 pm things have closed up if they opened at all. They work on their own schedule and some places don't have set hours. We had thai food at the nearby Garden Gourmet Farm Cafe which was excellent. We bought fresh organic bananas from them also which had flavors too incredible to explain over your everyday banana from home. We had a couple different banana breads. My favorite by far was the nearby Hana Farms original (2910 Hana Hwy). It's sugary crisp top made it incredible. Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!

We loved our stay here. The place was very clean, and the scenery was stunning. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. There were issues on the island with power going out due to a fallen tree in the forest, but the owners were very responsive to texts and even drove out to give us lanterns in case there was another outage. I highly recommend staying here!

You will feel right at home in this very clean, cozy lush environment. If you’re looking for a change of pace tucked in a beautiful environment look no further. My 15-year-old son and I stayed here for 4 nights and felt right at home. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, and although they could have a few more cooking items, we were able to make all of our favorite meals from home. I would highly recommend this place for any family and friends seeking a longer stay than most in Hana.

We were absolutely thrilled with our stay. The house is very comfortable and close to all of Hana's various food trucks (and the couple little stores), while still feeling quiet and secluded. The big covered porch with the dining table offered a great place to be when it rained. We'd definitely book again!

It’s very nice, but not for longer stay. There are not dishwashers and washing machine

This cottage was so sweet to arrive to after a long day of adventure. The pictures match reality perfectly. Very clean, updated, and maintained well. Perfect for our quick getaway.

The cottage was a peaceful place for our family of four to explore the Hana area for a few days. The setting was beautiful, we enjoyed the outdoor deck and cozy living room. I think the place could benefit from a few family games and books to browse, and the kitchen was a little sparse in terms of spices and cookware/dishware compared to other places we've stayed, but overall a lovely spot and home. Thank you!

Spotlessly clean and well appointed two bedroom cottage set in a spectacular rain forest full of exotic beauty. This listing exceeded our expectation and just getting there, the twisty Hana road is only the start of the adventure. Friendly locals and amazing food trucks. Highly recommend it if you’ll be staying in Hana.

The cottage was a wonderful spot to experience Hana. It is private and a little outside of town, but close to everything. I loved sitting out on the covered porch in the mornings and evenings, listening to all the sounds and feeling the air. The surrounding trees and growth of the jungle was a magical setting for someone from the desert.

Nice place to stay , the pizza place right around the corner is a great spot for lunch or dinner , and the branch to bar chocolate store is a must stop, lava tubd are close.

The most peaceful and quiet rest of our vacation!

Wonderful getaway cottage, felt like we were isolated, but actually close to the main road and the amenities of Hana. Loved the outdoor front porch. Nice kitchen with lots of counter space. Bedrooms and bathroom are updated, clean, and comfortable. Internet wasn't working when we arrived, but a hard reset of the router fixed it - good signal thereafter. Could use a little more seating in the living room for watching TV, but that's a minor suggestions. Thanks for the great stay - will definitely think of the cottage again in the future. Oh also, would be good for future guests to know that the road down to the cottage could be muddy in rainy weather. An SUV or other car with all wheel drive might be better to drive in.

Was easy to find and close to Hana. Updated cottage - very nice! Was a great place to stay for a couple nights while visiting Hana. Enjoyed all the plants and flowers on the property!
4.7
Enjoyed the lush grounds and covered porch. This was the quietest place I've ever stayed out Hana way. There were no barking dogs, crowing roosters, traffic noise!
Very clean.

We loved staying at this cottage! It is beautiful and we felt like the rest of the world was miles away.
Kitchen was nicely equipped, host communication was excellent and after a long drive on the road to Hana, this was just what we needed.
Dont be concerned about no air conditioner.I have health issues and the fans provides cooled the cottage nicely, so much so that I needed to grab the blanket from the closet in the middle of the night.
We stayed two nights and when we return to Maui, will book again. Highly recommend!

Only problem was broken DVD player.
No cookie sheet but we did ok with the pizza tray.
Very clean and quiet

Feels like another world. Getting to the Hana area isn’t an easy drive but it’s worth it. The house is remodeled and has pretty much everything.
Note there isn’t a washing/dryer and there’s no laundromat in town so plan accordingly. Also you won’t have cell reception for much of the drive so make sure to download your checkin information ahead of time. I didn’t remember this part so we drove a bit further until we had a signal and got the info. Easy checkin once I had my info.
There is internet which works pretty well but not for streaming. They have satellite TV though so you can watch Netflix/etc if you want. We did watch some TV and it worked reasonably well… some buffering but no big deal. Note also there’s no air conditioning but we didn’t feel like we needed it as we kept the windows open and the screens are in good condition.
We’d stay again. The Hana area is a special place. Thanks!

Nice, up to date cottage. Very quiet and relaxing yet close to Hana

The location is honestly surreal. Some of the most stunning trees you’ll see as long as you live right in your backyard. It’s very impressive that the host managed to set up high speed wifi co side ring the area. Host was very chill and easy to rent from. Can’t go wrong

Cute, updated cottage amongst the Tropicals. The only drawback for us was there was no air conditioning, but it was still a very enjoyable stay.
4.7
The vegetation was lush and green. Beautiful and admirable. Kitchen was well equipped. Bedrooms were just right for the 4 of us.

Hana is an amazing place. This residence met our needs and was in a beautiful tropical forest. It was a little warm but we cooled it down with the fans.
4.7
Really nice property. We enjoyed waking up with nature sounds and bird signing.

This property was outstanding! Very modern in a beautiful setting! I wish we could have stayed longer! I would highly recommend staying here. It was nice to be away from the crowds and this was a perfect place to get away from it all. Next time we visit Maui I will stay here again, only longer.
4.7
We were satisfied with our stay here. No problems at all! If we ever come back to Hana, we would stay here again 😁🌺
4.7
We loved the experience of staying in the cottage. No A/C, just open windows which allowed us to wake up to the sounds of the birds, rain and the trees rustling. Not to mention the wonderful smells of the early morning. We would love to stay here again!

We had a great, 3-night stay at this property. The property is very near the airport, about a 10-min drive from Hana and 5 minute drive from Waiʻānapanapa State Park. The house is in great shape and has been recently remodeled. There is a beautiful, large deck that is completely surrounded by tropical plants and huge trees. The deck is covered and provides a great place to eat even in the rain. The lack of air conditioning did make for hot nights, but the owners provide a number of fans to keep the air moving. Make sure and bring plenty of your own cooking supplies if you intend to cook. The house has ample pots and pans, but few standard cooking supplies (e.g. salt, pepper, oil, etc.). Thanks for a great stay - we really enjoyed the place!

We stayed here for 2 days while we explored Hana - I am so happy we found this place. It was hidden away in a tropical paradise - but easy to get out and explore Hana. We loved our evening walks and talking to the local farmers, buying fruit off of the stands, seeing the Hana Lava Caves (bring cash!), and hiking Oheo Gulch in the national park. This location was charming and had all of the perks of home. We loved our time here!
