About this house rental
This is an outstanding location for outdoor enthusiasts to access the best of Central Oregon. Only an 18 minute drive (16.7 miles) to the Mt Bachelor Ski area! Deschutes river float trips, fishing, hiking, biking, and dining are all within 3 miles.
The Art House is a historic mill home formerly a part of the McMenamins St. Francis Hotel in downtown Bend Oregon. Due to expansion needs of the extremely popular McMenamins location this house needed to be moved to a new location to preserve its historical importance. The current owners committed to moving the structures (recycling) and relocating so that the public could continue to enjoy these special homes. After great effort by both the McMenamins franchise and the current owners the goal was achieved by successfully relocating.
The Art house still has much of its historic charm such as old style wood fireplace, antique doors, and sinks but was upgraded with modern appliances, a professionally designed kitchen, hot tub, Flat screen TVs, etc. Continuing with the recycling theme the decks were all built from reclaimed old growth redwood. The ceilings were paneled with local Ponderosa Pine that had been killed by pine beetles. These dead trees were milled locally into custom ceiling paneling. Decorative accents were made from reclaimed barn wood creating a warm, and rustic feel. Many of the McMenamins decorations and additions have been preserved as well maintaining the super fun and funky charm McMenamins hotels are known for. For the traveler with an eclectic appreciation of historical design and simplicity this is sure to please. Broaden your palate with something a little different, something unique and memorable. What great vacations are all about.
Dogs are allowed, but there is a 2 Pet Maximum. Please no puppies, cats or other animals.

We had a little family weekend at the Art House, and it was perfect. It's just as charming as in the pictures. :)

The online description of the home was quite accurate yet we were still surprised to see all the unique features of this home. Even though it is clearly a couple of old conjoined houses, everything is nicely put together and clean. We came with a large family group and had a fantastic time there. The dining room is centrally located, but kind of narrow. The two living rooms are on opposite ends and are both quite small, but very cozy and intimate. Great deck spaces front and back with a warm, clean and inviting hot tub. The BBQ works great. The only thing we would wish for would be a bigger common room where everyone could gather and not feel cramped.

It was as presented. An older historic home. Nothing fancy but had the bedroom space we needed. Living area a little crowded for small children to.play. We had to stay inside several times due to poor air quality (forest fire smoke). Kitchen could use some better cooking utensils. Extra table cloth to use since. table very rustic. The yard was too overgrown in the back for little.kids to play and adults to setup some yard games.

We enjoyed out stay, again, we've stayed here many times and it's an ideal location for us lake fishermen.
Quiet neighborhood, and a very clean and well maintained house. Could not be happier with our stay.

They did a great job of incorporating these 2 old homes that use to be part of a catholic school and putting them together. The house was nicely decorated and the rooms were all named from the different fathers. The property was pretty large which was nice because we had a couple of dogs.

This is a great house for a group needing lots of bedrooms. We have rented it several times and always find it charming!

We had a great time, and will likely be back.

The house was great for our gathering and while the pool was a little gross by time of check in a maintenance person was already dispatched to clean out the tub for use during our stay. Would stay again!

My two sisters and their husbands (and s grown child each) along with my 86yo mom and her youngest brother and his wife (from Kansas) and of course me and my hubby spent a mini family reunion at this incredible house snd beautiful setting! The area allowed for us all to do the activities we wanted and the house was the perfect place to gather the end of the day snd share yummy meals, good conversation and get into the hot tub before crawling into bed. Loved the character of this home!!

Spacious house Nice property
We enjoyed our stay very much! The house was large and comfortable with plenty of room for all of us to spread out or be together. The kids loved exploring the outdoors and seeing deer up close. We enjoyed the campfire very much too. It was a great place for us to stay.

Another great week at the Art House!
We 4 senior fly fishermen thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Art House, again. We plan on returning next year.
The coffee pot didn't work (or at least we couldn't get it to work) and it was replaced the next day. What service.
Clean, well appoint house with a very well maintained hot tub in a quiet neighborhood, perfect!

Memories that last a life time!
I can not say enough good things about our stay in three rivers. This house (two bungalows combined) was so perfect for my bachelorette weekend. We were a group of 7 and each person slept comfortably in their own bed. The two kitchens really worked to our benefit with how much food and (ahem) beverages we brought. We spent morning on the side deck, basking in the sunshine. As well as the evening relaxing in the tub. The property is beautiful and feels very private despite a road being close by due to the beautifully wooded backyard. I would 100% stay here again!

Fantastic Place to Stay
We love this house! It has enough bedrooms to sleep a variety of couples/singles which fits our needs perfectly. The owners are very gracious and accommodating. We have rented this place a few times and look forward to our next trip!

We loved this stay!!!
What a great house and location! With so much snow on the ground we could hang out at the property the entire weekend! We built a snow castle and a sledding track! The house was roomy and comfortable :) we loved watching to sunset/sunrise and seeing the big full moon! A great place to stay.

Family fun in snow country
House worked fine for us .Since family could not join us from the midwest because of flight cancellation there were only 6 of us.Had they joined us the enclosed porch would have been too cold for sleeping.Aside from that, accommodations for a party of 10 would be OK. The property is convenient to Batchelor, Sunriver and Bend

This house is perfect. Everything is clean, the hot tub is relaxing, there is enough room and bedding for everyone.
The kitchen is fully functional and the location is pretty well located for everywhere we went.

Terrific stay
Enjoyed a week at this home with family to show our North Dakota cousins the High Desert! Everyone agreed the decor and build of this home was darling! So much character and was very comfortable for all of us. The separate living room areas were perfect for our group with teens. The big, bright dining room was nice to all be together in. The bedrooms also were big and the beds were comfortable. One bedroom is 2 twins on what used to be a back porch area, had beds that were fine for 2 young teens, but maybe not so much for bigger adults. Bathrooms were small, but so cute and remodeled and decor to be very functional. The location of the home down the road from Sunriver worked very well for us. We rented river equipment from Good 2 Go in Sunriver for the day, put in farther up river than most Sunriver guests, and could get out just down road from the house. This meant we had the river to ourselves all day! One TV had streaming available, so nice for relaxing. The hot tub was relaxing and fun for teens, BBQ all set up for quick dinner our first night. 2 fridges was also great, one for all the drinks for everyone.
The kitchen, like everything else, was decorated very nicely. I think describing it as gourmet is a stretch. Very little counter space to work in, although the second kitchen space had more you could use for prep. Had the basics equipment needed. DW didn't clean very well, so had to hand wash some. Plenty of dishes for a crowd.
We really enjoyed our stay here, felt like a great value for all the amenities! Thanks so much Chris and Andrea!

Family get together
This house worked perfectly for our family get together. Having the two living spaces on opposite ends of the house was great for when the baby had to nap or if we had different activities going on. The bedrooms were quiet, even though they were right next to the living rooms (I came out one morning and found 5 adults and a baby watching tv and had no idea they were there). It is an old house so the floors and doors squeak but it is well maintained and clean. The house is also very close to river access and to the Sunriver shops and trails. If I can convince my family to make the drive we will definitely stay here again.

Great property and location
Loved all the private space and being located just outside sunriver. Fun and interesting house with plenty of bedrooms for everyone.

Centrally located to the great outdoors!
My niece and her family came from California for our annual visit and brought their brother and sister-in-law. They were able to raft two different times within short distance to the house. Down the street and around the corner is a raft rental place . The weather was 111 degrees when we arrived and the house was nice and cool. Definitely would return again!

Great amenities, owners nearby
We were celebrating a birthday and the house was perfect with plenty of bedrooms and space for everyone. Andrea was incredibly nice and they have a good layout of the rules and expectations. Some information that may be helpful for future guests; the owners of the property live just up the street which they do not mention in their original description. We chose this home because it seemed to be secluded but in reality you are the focal point of all neighbors and tourists driving by. This may not be an issue for some but for us we were hoping for a little extra privacy.
Our only other concern was, despite following all fire instructions we were asked to put out a fire by the owner who came by. We were understanding as the sunriver area had a traumatic fire season the year before so despite there being no fire warnings we were understanding and put out our fire. About an hour later a drone began hovering over the property clearly watching us on the porch and flying over the fire pit to ensure it was put out. The drone then disappeared and did not hover over any other property. You're welcome to come to your own conclusions.
Overall the stay was great, a beautiful house and near plenty of activities. For some none of this may be concerning but we thought it should be considered before making a decision.

Great stay, again.
There were 4 retired fly fishermen stay for a week and we had a great time fishing the lakes in the area. It was nice coming 'home' to the Art house; centrally located and set up perfect for our bunch. We cooked every day and BBQed too. Nice to have a hot tub after a cold day of fishing. Very quiet neighborhood too.

A diamond in the rough!
From the moment we pulled into the property, we were enamored with the beauty of the place. The house is absolutely gorgeous and fun. In every room there are unique paintings on the walls, both framed and unframed. There are gorgeous curtains over the many, many windows. The entire home is so light and airy thanks to the layout and numerous windows.
The hot tub was wonderful! We were in it at least twice a day, and had a really easy time calling the number listed to have it serviced halfway through our trip, as it started to look a bit green. Not a problem! The maintenance guy was here quick as a whistle and had it looking brand new in no time.
We absolutely adored eating together as a family at the oversized table that seats 8. It was such a fun bonding moment for us all. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, dishes, cups, silverware....everything we needed for our stay. The two refrigerators came in handy as we cooked nearly every meal at the house for the entire 8 nights we were here. We did enjoy some local fare and highly recommend Big Belly Burgers and Brew in the Sunriver area.
The TV had every channel we could ever want and we enjoyed kicking back in the evenings and catching up on our favorite shows. The kids enjoyed being able to watch something fun in the mornings when we were making breakfast.
There isn't anything I would change about this house. It's truly beautiful and magical.

Great location for outdoor fun!
We really enjoyed our stay at this house! The house is lovely with unique and artistic detail. We enjoyed the historical nature of the house. We had dogs with us and the hikes in the area were perfect to keep everyone happy in between skiing and golf. The owners were understanding and accommodating to our requests. We would definitely like to come back again!

Perfect getaway for spring break. House is set up nicely for two families. The hot tub was great and they supply fire wood!

Our stay at the property was great. Two older houses joined by pass way with a large dining room table. We enjoyed the art in the house with special touches around every corner. My friend that cooked some eggs suggested a new nonstick frying pan as his eggs were hard to clean from the pan. Otherwise all was as advertised and we had a great time. We would stay again when in the area. Thanks.

Great launch spot to the area
Location is good for outings to Sunriver and Bend. Bedrooms are small but plentiful. We had two families with five (total) young children and could easily spread out (with room to spare).
If you want to bike, you can, but you've got to ride a busier road to get to Sunriver and its network of paths.

Spacious unique get away
Our two families rented this McMenamins home for a week getaway in Bend. It was perfect for our two families because of the way the houses were combined. We were able to have children on one end and adults in the other. At night we were able to be in a separate area of the house not to wake the kids. There was enough space for everyone to play outside. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need for cooking purposes. The dining room was great for our eight occupants. The beds were cozy and we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend and stay again.

Great place with charm.
The Art House fit our group of ten people while feeling roomy and open. Hot tub, two patios and the fire pit all got plenty of use. Quiet neighborhood that’s just a short drive to Sun River Village.
