About this house rental
This historical house was built in the early 1900's; it has been completely re-done including a new heating system, a new kitchen with new appliances, new carpet, and fresh paint. Despite all of the updates, you can still see the vintage charm of the house in many of its details and its unique architecture.
The main level of the house has 2 full bedrooms (both with queen-sized beds) and 2-full bathrooms. The kitchen is fully-equipped and has everything you need for a 2-night to a 2-week stay. There is an enclosed back porch/sun room that opens up onto the back-yard deck. The back-yard is fully enclosed with a privacy fence and is a perfect place for barbecuing. The upstairs loft of the house is a very spacious and unique space! There is a side room with a built-in desk and shelves that creates a perfect work station. In the main portion of the loft there is a full-size bed and two twin-sized beds. The living room couch is a brand-new sofa sleeper and comfortably fits two.
Free Wi-Fi is included!
Everything you need is within walking or biking distance to the house, including a major grocery store. There is plenty of parking on premises and available parking throughout the town. We expect most guests to likely have a car, however if you prefer to bike, we do have a few extra bikes available for guest use in the garage; there are also several bicycle shops nearby where you can rent additional bikes and accessories.
Guests will have access to the entire house and yard, including the garage. We ask that guests do not access the basement beneath the mudroom, and guests will not have access to the storage shed located in the backyard.
We encourage guests to come and go as they please. We will provide contact phone numbers and VRBO messaging will be available if guests have questions or concerns. We will typically not be present for guest arrival or check-out; access to the house will be via a lockbox located on the front door (lockbox information provided upon booking).
Salida is a beautiful mountain town in the heart of the Rocky Mountains with countless things to do during any season! The downtown proudly supports local shops, restaurants, micro-breweries, and there are festivals throughout the year! In the summer there are countless trails to bike or hike, there is gold-medal fishing in the Arkansas River along with exciting river sports such as rafting and kayaking, a beautiful golf course, and even nearby places to zip-line! In the winter there is easy access (30 minutes) to Monarch Mountain for skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. Our neighborhood specifically is rich in history with historic homes, buildings, and monuments for all of the history buffs out there too!

This was a perfect vacation for us. We were here for the Bluegrass festival with five adults, two toddlers, and an infant. We were able to walk just about anywhere we wanted to go. The property is lovely. We spent time in both the front and back yards. I highly recommend this home. Thank you!

Our family had a great visit to Salida. This house easily accommodates a large family and is in a terrific location. So many thoughtful touches made us feel taken care of (examples: lotion in the bathrooms, hot cocoa packets, plenty of towels, useful kitchen tools, bikes available). Thanks!

Beautiful home, yard for the kiddos, and the bicycles that were available were a huge bonus as we rode as family every day! Great property, look forward to staying again.

This was our first visit to Salida and we picked the perfect house and location for our family of 4. It's located in a quiet but central neighborhood, walking distance to all the downtown shops and restaurants. It's also convenient for taking day trips and great hiking all around. The house had a great layout, nice kitchen and dining area with a very comfortable living area. Everything was very clean and in order when we arrived. We really enjoyed relaxing on the front porch in the evenings. The bikes in the garage were an added bonus for a ride to the river area. And lastly the owner is super friendly with quick reply's to any questions we had. Looking forward to a return visit next summer.

It was lovely and very comfortable for the most part. I had a problem entering and leaving the home because I walk with a cane and there are no hand railings available in the front or the back. My family helped me up and down the steps.

Great Family Home
We appreciated the amenities available pack- in- play, basketball hoop across the street, the selection of bikes so we did not have to rent them, the outdoor space and location to downtown. We have seen so much change in this small town over the years when coming back to visit family. We appreciate the homes that are cared for!

Clean and cute!
Great location in Salida...short walk to shops and restaurants. The home was very clean, and had a well stocked kitchen. The upstairs loft was perfectly suited for the teens in our group. Thank you!

Great mountain escape!
Nice little mountain home that was very convenient to downtown Salida and the river! Our family felt right at home and all the kids talked about how we could just move in! The upstairs was perfect sleeping area for the kids! The available bikes were a nice treat that we took advantage of and the kids loved! The house was not stocked as it normally is due to Covid. It was unexpected but we were prepared for the most part! We will definitely look for this home again when we return to the area!

Great vacation rental! NOTE: skinny / steep stairs
This is possibly one of my most favorite vacation rentals ever. The house is so cute, in an EXCELLENT location in a quiet part of downtown but just about a 1/2 mile walk to the shops and restaurants. They supply you with all you will need AND MORE including multiple bike options for all family member (even kids), a well stocked kitchen, baby gate, a pack and play, toys for the kids and fans for every room. It was perfect. The only thing I'd want to make sure people are aware of is that the upstairs room that has a queen, two twins and a double futon has a very steep and skinny staircase that would be harder for elderly people to get up and down and also little kids need to be careful.

Beautiful home in beautiful Salida
Everything from check in management to check out and everything in between was smooth. Really felt like home for the long weekend we visited. Great front porch and back deck with the ability to use variety of bikes. Salida is made for bike rides to get to and from and we took advantage! The inside had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Looking forward to booking this again when we get the chance!! Thank you!

Charming
Quaint, peaceful and comfortable, this property has everything you could want. Very organized and clean with plenty of space. Any questions/concerns were addressed immediately by the owners. There is a beautiful park across the street, and a nice back yard and deck. The location is convenient to downtown and so many area attractions including Royal Gorge, Monarch Pass and Crested Butte. We highly recommend this one!

Nice large family home in quiet neighborhood near town.
We enjoyed the flexibility of this home for our adult children and grands. A plethora of bicycles available, we rode around neighborhood, down town and to the river daily. A couple of nice parks nearby for quick busy time for littles. Lots of room and pretty nicely stocked supplies and linens.

Enjoyed our stay!
Very comfortable home for our family--we enjoyed the patio and used the main floor laundry a lot after hiking/camping. The back part of the upstairs is warmer than some may like in the summer, and the WiFi is slow which is only a challenge if you have work you still have to do. Overall, worked out great!

Great place for moderate sized groups
Lots of sleeping areas, pretty convenient location to downtown food and S-Mountain mountain biking trails!

great location, views, clean & well appointed
Everything about this place was as promised and fit our group perfectly. We enjoyed the convenient location - walking distance to everything downtown Salida has to offer. The views are essentially 360 degrees. The house was very clean, orderly, and well stocked with most of the items people use daily (and forget to bring!). There were even fresh eggs from the family farm - though we didn't have an opportunity to enjoy them. The weather wasn't so great during our visit but we were able to spend a little time on the back deck too. The stairs up to the 2nd level are narrow so it's a little tricky - especially for middle of the night bathroom visits (there's no bathroom upstairs). The upstairs is best suited for the more mobile set (not really great accessibility for my mid-70s parents but they didn't need to go up there but got to check it out at least). Thank you! Would love to visit again sometime in the future.

Great house for stay in Salida
We (2 families, 4 adults & 4 teens) enjoyed our stay in Salida. Two bedrooms downstairs with an upstairs area including a futon bed, 2 twin beds and small play area. Well maintained house.
Lost heat for water one night and called property owner to alert of situation. The property manager had gas heat fixed quickly for our stay.
We recommend staying at this location

Perfect house and perfect location!
We have rented a bunch of houses in Salida over the years and this is by far our favorite! The house is perfect for families and has such great spaces for kids to hang out in the upstairs. The house is well stocked and was super clean. The location is fantastic being walking distance to downtown. The owner, Tara, is extremely helpful and accomodating. We will rent this house again!

Clean and Comfy
The house was in great shape and a perfect place for 2 families with kids. The upstairs loft provided a great bunk area for the kids. Walkable to the mainstreet downtown, or a short 3 min drive if you didn't feel like hoofing it.
Would come back again!

Great home for a family with little kids!
My wife and our four kids loved this home! My kids are 6, 5, 2 and 6 mo's and this home fit us perfectly. The loft upstairs is great for kids as there's a double plus two twin beds and a play area. The twin beds are in their own area of the loft with a door to separate them from the double. It even had 3 sleep sacks with matching pillows (ninja turtle, star wars, frozen) which my kids loved because my older boys and daughter slept up there. There were lots of kids books and adult books in the upstairs library. The downstairs is great as well with two comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms (one bath off the master, and one off the kitchen). The master bath has the laundry room, which also had detergent etc. which is handy when you have kids. The kitchen was small, but really well stocked. There is a mudroom, which is great for ski stuff, jackets and boots. There were 3 growlers in the house, which was great because we like beer tasting and ended up at 3 brewery's in the area (Moonlight, Soulcraft and Elevation). The living room was very comfortable and had a full list of cable channels + netflix/online content. The yard was big and spacious and there is a covered front porch with seating. It was great to sit there and drink coco while watching the local deer stroll through. There's a back deck with chairs for 6 and small table. There's even a garage with bikes and sleds (although we never used these). The owner recommended some good restaurants in town (Boathouse was our favorite) as well as the hot springs pool (perfect after a day of skiing). The location is really fantastic as this home is in a very quiet neighborhood (across from a tiny park with a basketball court), and it's 5 min from downtown and the river and 30 minutes from Monarch. We loved our stay and wish we could've stayed longer!

What a perfect and beautiful home, we all LOVED it!
It may not be readily apparent from the pictures, but not only is this home spacious and equipped like a 5 star hotel, it is so wonderfully built and decorated that it takes you back to a simpler time when homes had nooks and crannies, rooms tucked away in unexpected places, and all kinds of unique functional beauty that builders just don't take the time to include nowadays. Our kids absolutely loved sleeping and playing in the very cute upstairs bedrooms with the dormer windows and fun spaces to explore. We have stayed in a LOT of home rentals over the years and this house was probably the best equipped and stocked house we have ever stayed in. Absolutely everything you need or would expect from your own home is available, and then some. Tara is amazing and attends to every detail. She is quick to respond and sends you everything you need to know before you arrive. Salida is an amazingly cute and fun town, but this house and Tara's attention to detail were the cherry on top of the pie, for sure! This home is so conveniently located right in the middle of everything and we would definitely stay there again! LOVED IT! We had two families (4 adults, 7 children) in this home for 5 nights and were simply blown away at how fun, convenient, and beautiful this house was. Little details like having a DVR so that we could record the Rose Parade and Football games while we were out skiing, and large pots and pans to prepare our meals, to a brand new gas BBQ out back and luxury towels and linens made this an absolutely dreamy home away from home stay for us all! Thank you Tara! We'll always hold the special family memories we made in your home near to our hearts.
