My husband and I stayed here with our 5 kids during our trip to DC. The home was pretty clean and it was just enough space for us. We were happy to be able to use the washer and dryer since we were halfway through a 12-day roadtrip. I only gave it 3 stars because of a few things that fell short of my expectations. Firstly, the listing doesn't indicate that a person (or multiple people) live here when it isn't being rented out. I felt like I was just staying at a friend's house. There was some food in the fridge and freezer and the closets all had personal belongings in them as well. I think it is important to note that in the listing. Also, there were no fitted sheets for the extra mattress or futon, nor were there many pillows, and the sheets/pillowcases that were available were all mismatched. There were only kids-sized comforters, too...nothing that would fit an adult for the futon or the extra mattress, and one of the twin beds only had sheets and no comforter. The bath towels were all mismatched and looked old. Some of them were stained. They weren't laid out in the bedrooms or hung in the bathrooms. The towels were literally folded in a pile in the master bedroom, and the sheets were folded in a pile on a random chair in the TV room. I felt like there should have been complete sets of towels and bedding set in appropriate places for us so we could find it easily, rather than having to wander around looking for them. The master bedroom had 2 broken lamps sitting in a corner next to the bed. That wasn't very helpful. The master bath had a broken overhead light that was missing a bulb and it also had no fan to suck out the humidity. One of the walls had spackle on it in a few spots and a note about how to operate the shower that was written in pencil directly on the wall. There was a guide laid out on the kitchen table that gave some specifics like the wifi password and other helpful info, but I wonder why it wasn't left near the front door. We had to look for it. The owner was nice and did respond to my texts, but over all the property itself certainly left a little to be desired. It was quiet and felt safe, but I hope some new linens are purchased, and repairs are made, and the listing is updated to accurately reflect that this is actually someone's home and not a straight-up rental property.

Very comfortable. Easy and prompt communication w host. It is a slightly funky older house, but in good shape. Lovely little deck and back yard. It was perfect for 2 adults and 2 teens, as we attended a memorial service, and visited with family in the area. Not flashy, but everything needed was there, in a quiet neighborhood near nice park area.

Great stay
Nice house for 6 night DC visit. Plenty of space with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Nearby trails and dog park were a nice bonus. Convenient to metro, which we used daily. Plenty of restaurants, grocery stores etc. nearby in Kensington and Bethesda. Geoffrey was very responsive to questions and proactively checked in a couple of times. We had car trouble on our departure date and he recommended a car rental place (which we used) and a mechanic (we ended up not needing). Overall a great stay.

Convenient and great location
My sister, daughter and I stayed at this property while attending a family wedding in North Bethesda. The location was very convenient to everything and was perfect for my 2 dogs traveling with me since it was right around the corner from the trails in Rock Creek Park. Geoffrey, the host, was extremely prompt and responsive to any questions, accommodating to the safety of my dogs, and provided excellent advice on the local area. The only thing which caught me by surprise is that it appeared that the host lived at the property when not being used by a VRBO guest in that the closets were all full as was the refrigerator. This put me off somewhat since I was not expecting it, but if you knew the was the case and were comfortable with it, the property was as advertised.

Great stay in Kensington

Family of 5
This was a great home for our family of two adults, three children five and under, and dog. It was clean, offered a sufficient number of bedrooms and bathrooms and even toys for the kids. We loved the minimalism and efficient use of space. Great views out of the front windows and walking access to the Rock Creek Trail. It was farther from downtown DC than we realized, but it was close to several metro stations for convenient traveling options. We would definitely stay here again.

The perfect home base for our visit
We were in the DC area to visit family, but our family members live in small apartments. It was so nice for our family of five (two adults, three kids - 11, 15, 17) to have this home in Kensington to come back to each evening. The beds are super comfortable. The house feels bigger than it looks in the photos. We had easy access to Safeway and to Core Power yoga and then it was a quick trip into Bethesda for shopping and movies and a 1/2 hour drive into DuPont Circle for the Phillips Collection (or you could get on the metro too. If you drive, I recommend the Spot Hero app for pre-booking parking downtown). There is a great running/walking trail right from the house, which connects to parks if you have small children. And if you don’t feel like going outside, there is even an elliptical in the house. We hope to be back for future trips!

Nicely updated home. Comfortable for our family of 5.
Our family of 2 adults and 3 teens have stayed in private rental homes and apartments in a variety of locations, so when we all agree that this was a relaxing and comfortable home away for us, it's based on quite a bit of experience. Geoff was great with communication quick with responses and helpful with local transport questions whenever we asked. Highly recommended. Thanks Geoff!

Clean and comfortable
The house is very comfortable and easily fit our family of five. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook at home and we were able to do laundry during our stay. We highly recommend this house for your stay in the DC/Maryland area. Geoff, the owner is available and easy-going and he made sure that we were comfortable throughout our stay.

truly a home away from home
We stayed at the Bakers' home while our home was being renovated. It is a clean, green, light- filled home. Everything we needed for our 6 week stay. Near parks, walking trails and nature -- but close to Kensington, Rockville and the Metro (driving distance). Plus, communicating with the homeowners was always simple and quick, even when they were travelling.

Great home for our family to visit DC!
We stayed at this lovely split level home while visiting family nearby and to do some DC sightseeing. It was perfect for us. Carol was quick to respond to my questions before our stay and had an information sheet about the home right by the front door when we arrived. It included all we needed to know. The home was very clean. Our children are 8, 6, and 4 yo so they loved the bunk beds and loft bed in 2 of the bedrooms. We made a lot of use out of the numerous board and card games they had on hand. The kitchen had everything we needed for breakfast and lunch in each day. We chose to have dinner out, but there would have been plenty of pots, pans, etc to prepare dinner each night. The closest Metro station was about a 6 minute drive and there was plenty of parking there. It was an easy ride to the Smithsonian Museums and the monuments. The Rock Creek Trail is at the end of their street and was great for running. Had it not been so hot outside, I think we would have explored more of the playgrounds along the trail. I would love to stay at this home again the next time we visit the area.
