About this house rental
A luxurious, secluded, award-winning eco-lodge, 15 minutes walk from the famous Applecross Inn, this beautiful highland home from home is only 90 mins drive from the Isle of Skye or Inverness. Best hot tub views in Scotland!
Enter the ancient spiritual sanctuary of Applecross via the spectacular Bealach na Ba, and arrive at Eagle Rock, which is built on the site of an ancient Viking watchfire. Settle in to soak up the wildness, passing wildlife and incredible panoramic views - from the infinity view HOT-TUB, or wrapped in comfort by the library fire with a whisky in your hand.
Eagle Rock is the epitome of low key luxury and pragmatism. It's beautiful and comfortable, equipped with high-end audio, WiFi and tech, handcrafted fittings and fixtures, (including the magnificent harp-shaped staircase, carved from a giant local Douglas Fir), and a Michelin chef designed kitchen.
The lodge's large, flexible spaces lend themselves to fitting around the different groups, and is perfect for special gatherings of families and friends. Small destination weddings or celebrations, where families or generations come together work well here.
There is warmth everywhere, even room by room and underfoot! (Honeymoon couples, retreat groups, and wedding parties love us!). Our winter months are almost as full as the summer ones, though the holiday is more about enjoying the incredible drama outside from warmth, space and comfort.
Our website can tell you more about bespoke catering services, botanical, cultural and historical offerings, wildlife luxury cruises...but Tesco and highland wholefoods deliver food and beverages to the door, so you can order and book online before your trip. A huge fridge freezer, industrial ice machine and two drinks fridges should see you right! (Americans - I got the ice machine especially for you!).
So often, guests arrive with lots of plans, and then find they are really very happy hanging out on the deck or media and library snug by the fire or a window seat. The hot tub heats up to 40degrees, so it's brilliant, even in winter, when you can catch the Northern Lights.
DESIGNED BY AN AWARD WINNING ARCHITECT, (who put his expertise in designing six-star South African game lodges using local materials to good use), wilderness, luxury, and ever-changing vistas make Eagle Rock a jaw-dropping experience. The house has 2500m of floor space, yet a playful flow of intimate, cozy nooks with the large living makes it a popular destination for couples. With fireplaces a stunning lighting scheme to fit different moods and functions, a huge deck and garden, and a Michelin chef designed/equipped kitchen.
This eco-sanctuary was built as a labor of love over years by the owner. It exists to inspire and nourish those who want to step out of their daily reality for a while and connect with each other and the heartbeat of the Highlands.
Keep an eye out for passing porpoises, otters, eagles and other wildlife. Listen to the wind roar from the depths of a cozy fireside leather sofa in the library as dramatic storms sweep across the bay from Skye. Dip into a lifetime's collection of books, films, sculptures, artworks and games. Enjoy meals at the huge, specially commissioned ironwood dining table in the vast dining room.
There is a large firepit down a wheelchair-accessible pathway from the infinity hot-tub, and a large fenced garden. Golfers have been known to practice their putting for hours on the lawn, and the house has a croquet set.

We had a magical stay at Eaglerock. This is such a special place. It is even more beautiful than the photos. We loved Applecross. The fantastic view of Skye without the crowds. Catherine is a fantastic host. Highly recommend!!

This property is exactly what we were looking for in a vacation retreat! We only had four of us staying in this large house but found it very warm and welcoming. The location is very remote and quiet, which suited our vacation plans perfectly!
The home is outfitted exceptionally well and the kitchen has everything we needed. There are plenty of beautiful sitting areas both inside and out so you can choose to be in a quiet nook or in a cozy group gathering.
The home is nicely decorated and makes you feel like you are at home!
Catherine was away during our stay but was very communicative up to our arrival. Catherine’s friend Jane stayed locally and was very helpful with any questions and also made great suggestions for local activities.
We had a wonderful stay here!

Stayed for a week. We had great weather for sunbathing on the deck. The hot tub is a real bonus with perhaps the best hot tub views in the planet. Property super comfortable with everything you could want and more.
Cath is great, gave us superb welcome showed us round then disappeared. A simply wonderful week and we wished we booked longer. We will 100% use Eagle Rock again probably for a large celebration party.
Can recommend Eagle Rock to small group looking for space and relaxation or large group looking for same or to do some serious partying.
Thanks Cath for a wonderful week at your fabulous property

We had a fabulous week at Eagle’s Nest, 4 adults, 6 children aged between 4 and 12 and our Labrador! It was a 13 hour drive to get to beautiful Applecross but it was so worth it!
Days were spent relaxing in the brilliantly equipped and comfortable house, enjoying the fabulous sushine, exploring the beaches, foraging, kayaking, playing with the resident chickens, eating too much at the great local pub and messing around in the hot tub on the cliff...those views!
From initial enquiry until we waved a sad goodbye, Cath was brilliant. So responsive over email, chatty on the phone and so warm and relaxed in person.
We’d love to come again one day, we can’t recommend Eagle’s Nest enough!

A great and easy-to-enjoy house in a spectacular location. The village of Applecross, the huge views over the inner sound with the ever-changing sky, and the adventure of the local roads and hikes gave us more than enough to do. The hosts were superb and readily available, and kind to our children. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our stay at Eagle Rock! We had 5 adults and 2 children, ages 2 & 4. We had a warm welcome and everything obtaining to the house was explained to us. Everything was clean and well stocked. I loved the house decor and even bought a beaded highland cow from the home owner, I love it! You definitely need to either bring your own groceries or have them delivered by Tesco. There is a SMALL shop down the road but not big enough to fill your fridge with needed items. We bought a kite from the Shop and had a great time playing with the kids in the back yard. Even though you still need to watch the kids, there is a fence protecting the kids from the cliff edge. That was my biggest concern before arriving at the house but the edge isn't as close as it looks in the photos. The house layout was perfect and we couldn't of been happier! The view were breathtaking and the hiking that's close by is great. Overall we were very happy with the house and hosts, and my kids didn't want to leave!

Just fantastic in all respects. The house is exactly as described although no words can do justice to the splendor of its position and the extraordinary views. It is superbly equipped and extremely comfortable and Catherine is a wonderful host!

Eagle Rock is a warm, welcoming home in a charming, tiny Scottish town in one of the most naturally spectacular settings I have ever seen. Catherine treated us all as family. Eagle Rock sits on the waters edge ( as does the hot tub!) with views of all variety of mountains and the Isle of Skye. Speaking of the sky--it is an ever changing vista, one moment painted in shades of blues and greys and the next, a spectacular sunset of pinks and oranges over the sea. The people of the village were most welcoming and the surrounding area provides opportunities for exploring and short or long hikes. The food and small village ambience of the pub in town made us feel like Highlanders. I can't say enough about what an amazing, once in a lifetime experience we had.

Eagle Rock is the most dramatically situated lodging that you will ever encounter, and the beautiful home opens onto the landscape so that you enjoy the outdoors even when you are inside. The house is very comfortable and welcoming, but above all guests maximize their Highland experience with the wonderful vistas. There is so much to explore in the area, but staying on the decks overlooking the sea and islands may prove too tempting to allow too much time away from Eagle Rock itself. Catherine is such a delight, and very knowledgeable about off-the beaten track surprises awaiting her guests, according to their specific interests.

Fantastic property with lots of space and stunning views. The service provided by Catherine was second to none with so many personal touchs and I would highly recommend Eagle Rock as an amazing place to stay
