About this house rental
Come stay at this large, secluded property for a relaxed, PEI-style vacation. Overlooking Cascumpec Bay, the property was built in 2009 and sleeps up to 11 people with 4 bedrooms containing 4 queen beds and a bunk bed. With a large yard in the back and a gradual slope down to the beachfront, there is tons of space for activities, bonfires or go down to the beach and get dirty digging some clams!
The large screened-in deck or open patio are great for drinking hot coffee in the morning or watching the sunset with a cold beverage in the evening. During the day, this relaxing space is great to watch kids play in the yard or watch the bald eagles and ospreys dive for fish out front.
This oceanfront property is only a 10 minute drive from the town of Alberton, or a 20 minute drive from the town of O’Leary, with one of the top rated golf courses in between.
*Important notes*
- There are shells on the beach and water shoes are recommended
- The easiest way to find the cabin is to type "134 Spruce Way, O'Leary PE" into Google Maps
- DRIVE SLOWLY ON THE WAY INTO THE CABIN AS THERE ARE LOTS OF CHILDREN PLAYING IN THE AREA
- Although you are somewhat secluded, be conscious of noise in the evenings as we do have neighbors that absolutely must be respected and noise travels on the water.
- Have fun!

Layton and Alet were amazing hosts. They have really thought of everything to make your stay a memorable one. The home is impeccably clean and you can tell they take great pride in it. Whether you are taking in the sights or staying in, there is enough to please everyone in your group.
We really enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone looking to experience the island.

We all enjoy the cottage while we were there. We visit a lot all around PEI. The kids enjoyed playing on the beach and looking for clams. Thanks

Quite suitability named. Our family stayed here for 10 days in June. Property description on your site is quite apt. In fact the site exceeded our expectations and the amenities provided were above and beyond. A great place to relax, observe nature at its finest and the most beautiful sunsets. Communication between our hosts, Alet and Layton was prompt, most informative and helpful. We highly recommend this property.

Everything was exactly as described and more. We were provided everything we could have wanted and then some to make our stay enjoyable.
It was so nice to be able to relax in such a comfortable and welcoming space.

We enjoyed our visit. Especially eating in the sun room overlooking the water nightly. We even saw a boat parade of lights and fireworks one night on the water.

My family and guests were very pleased with this VRBO property. The home was as expected, and very suitable for 2 families to share. We enjoyed eating upstairs, downstairs and outside. The kitchen had everything we needed and we especially enjoyed sitting outside on the patio around the fireplace and under the milky-way. Sometimes the upstairs got a little warm and the mosquitos outside were a nuisance, but this was easily managed. There is a heat-pump in the basement. We saw lots of wildlife, found oysters in the Mill River, canoed and kayaked, and slept very well. We picked up groceries in Summerside and Alberton, had a nice feed of lobster (from Royal Star Foods) that we cooked outside; and found the best cinnamon buns at MJ's Bakery and Caboose Cafe in Tignish. St. Felix Golf Course nearby is a great casual course to play 9-holes, especially when you have kids playing golf as well. The kids enjoyed the Prince County Fair and the 80-min drive to Cavendish on a few days was worth it. The ride back always seemed faster and the kids were often quiet and resting in the back. Whenever you get a chance to enjoy Cow's Icecream - it's a must. And don't forget a plate of Chips with the Works at the Huntley Horizon and the Lobster Reuben Sandwich at the Northport Pier is also very good.

Great spot for clam digging, bird watching including osprey and bald eagles and enjoying ocean views. There was lots of room for a family of 10.

Our family of 10 from grandparents to grandkids, had a wonderful week staying here! The house was very clean, spacious, and was equipped with all the essentials needed. It is about an 1.5 hour drive from Charlottetown and we felt like we were in our own quiet cottaging area. There was to explore in the little towns nearby and definitely lots of great PEI beaches! The shore directly in front of the home was impacted by the 2022 hurricane and they have done a lot to get the shore restored. The water was a little less swimmable than we anticipated but still great for beach combing, oyster digs and boating. Alet and Layton were very responsive hosts and provided lots of great tips about spots to stop and see!

It's very hard to summarize just how beautiful this home is and the feeling you get when you spend such quality time with your family. It was off the beaten path but well worth the drive. The home offered us all we can ask for from an amazing host, plenty of room to live to a deck with an amazing view of the water. Absolute serenity!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. We were 10 adults/kids and the property is so spacious that it never felt crowded. The front beach had lots of fresh oysters and we had some every day. It’s a short drive to Alberton and Northport where you can find great restaurants, a drugstore and a grocery store, PEI liquor. There was a great beach 25 minutes from the cottage down route 12 and you turn right on Donahue road. The cottage is 40 minutes from summerside. We loved our stay, the cottage is beautiful and our hosts checked on us a few times and everything went well. We highly recommend this property and hope to return soon. Thank you for making our vacation even more special. José.

This place was much more beautiful than we anticipated. Alet and Layton were exceptionally kind and helpful. We had booked this trip for a family gathering in 2019 and had to cancel due to the sudden loss of my husband's father in 2019, rescheduled for 2020 and then COVID hit and rescheduled for 2021 still in the midst of the pandemic and had to reschedule for 2022 finally. Alet and Layton were very kind and accomadating along the way. When we finally gor here it was like a dream come true and the location was extremely calm and beautiful. It was a perfect place to gather as our first trip post-pandemic. A joyful welcoming place with enough room for our two families and my husband's Mom to be comfortable. Kids had a great time running and playing in the spacious yard and out on the beach. I have fallen in love with PEI and we will most certainly be back. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and joy to have finally made the trip.Highly recommend.

Amazing spot!
The hosts are very helpful. They offered several suggestions that are ‘off the beaten path’. The house was very clean and spacious. The location was perfect, as it was private and a short drive to grocery stores and sea food markets. I would highly recommend this cottage rental to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and calming time.
I will be booking this cottage again.

Nice seculded property on the water
Well equipped home. Lots of room for our family of 7. Lots of games for the family to play. Enjoyed the canoe, fire pit, screened in porch and deck overlooking the bay.
Bed's were comfortable. TV reception was poor as it is very remote. A long way to attractions.
Would go back if we were to visit PEI

A little piece of heaven
A beautiful home for a family getaway. It has something for everyone. Ospreys and herons for bird watchers, canoeing and kayaking for water lovers, bonfires for family singalong. And if it rains, there are games to keep you occupied. I’m a little squeamish about spiders, so the only downside was the spiders in the screened in porch. But that’s an easy fix. It’s the perfect place to alleviate your stress. Thanks Layton and Alet!

Beautiful PEI Treasure
We had a fabulous stay at Alet’s and Layton’s gorgeous place. We had lots of room to play in the yard, close access to warm water, and close proximity to all essentials. Great place for a family or group as this a lot of space and rooms to spread out. Very calm area and the place is well stocked to make it a relaxing home away from home. Would love to go back and the kids had a blast!

Awesome place to relax and spend quality family time together
Very nice, clean and quiet place. Very well stocked kitchen had everything required for guests. Accommodations are great for a group of up to 10-11 people, with 4 bedrooms, each having its own, very comfortable, queen size beds in addition to one of them having bunk beds. Canoe & double-kayak were nice to use to venture off & explore. The outdoor propane fireplace and the firepit were both enjoyed. But the best feature MAY very well be the screened in porch, where most meals and some board games were enjoyed by all... rain or shine. Great spot for some Rest & Relaxation away from the busy city life.

Amazing Family Gathering Place
This property is exceptional. The home is lovely and has many places to gather in groups to enjoy food and conversation. The views are outstanding. Being directly on the river provided wonderful relaxing scenery. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare snack or feast!! We loved our time spent here at 'Our Happy Place'. Our hosts were very accommodating and accessible. I don't believe our experience could have been any better.

This Home is a Gem!
We were a party of 8 adults (4 couples) from across Canada and this home was the perfect spot for us to celebrate 15 years of annual get-togethers. This was the first time we chose to hold our annual get-together in a location other than one of our own homes and it could not have been more perfect.
Layton and Alet were prompt with communication and answered all my pre-arrival questions without hesitation. The property itself is homey and welcoming, both inside and out. The kitchen is the best-stocked kitchen I have ever encountered at a vacation rental property. It was fantastic! Thank you so much, Layton and Alet for sharing your beautiful home with us. From all the Broads!

Great homebase for our PEI vacation!
This home was the perfect spot for our extended family PEI vacation. There was plenty of room for the 8 adults and 5 kids between the ages of 9months and 10 years to be able to stay comfortably and reconnect. We spent many hours exploring the beach searching for oysters, playing baseball or soccer on the lawn by the water, watching the osprey and herons, cooking delicious meals together in the spacious kitchen, and relaxing together in the evenings by the fire. It was wonderful having this house to come back to after excursions to explore the local area. Thanks so much Alet and Layton for sharing your happy place with our family. Many memories were made!

Fabulous vacation
We had an exceptional week at Layton and Alet’s “happy place” the home was very well equipped. There wasn’t one thing we didn’t have during our stay. The view on the water from the upper deck was just great. The screened in porch was our favorite spot for all our meals over looking the water. We loved watching the Osprey care for their new babies. The boys were able 2 get two rounds of golf in. A few day trips, lighthouses, shopping and fresh lobster. What else could you ask for!
If anyone is looking for a beautiful peaceful vacation this is it!!

Really is a happy place
The place was perfect for a family vacation. Beautiful view of the bay. The house was very well stocked and organized. Impeccably clean and comfy. A wonderful place! The closed in sun porch had an amazing view, we ate in there, read, played cards away from the bugs.

Wow!
We shared this wonderful home with two other couples and it was very well set up for the 6 of us. It's the best appointed kitchen I've ever had in a house rental, the only thing lacking was a crockpot and that was minor. It is very well furnished and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was nice having both an enclosed outside porch and the open deck where we spent many hours watching the water and the boats. The men enjoyed digging for oysters.
The listing description of this home was very accurate and the property was clean and well maintained. We had a plumbing leak but the owner was very quick to get it repaired. We would recommend this property to family and friends.

Beautiful property overlooking the Mill River estuary
Martin's house is well appointed for a large group of people, overlooking a beautiful estuary. The house is beautiful and well decorated with an open concept. You are located right on the beach, ideal for swimming, boating as well as other water activities. I highly recommend staying at Martin's house for your PEI vacation.

Beautiful house and beautiful view.
We enjoyed our stay very much, sitting out on the marvelous deck watching the birds, the water and the fishermen was most peaceful. We very lucky to have wonderful weather. The house is quite well equipped and spacious. Drawbacks were : poor response from the owner re location of the house and the key!! Garbage was a problem as truck refused to pick up some of the former occupants recycling so we had to leave some outside of the bins. It would help if the bins were marked as what was to placed in them. However we had a great time and we would rent this house again.

Awesome home for a family vacation
My husband and 5 year old twin boys spent 8 nights at this wonderful home. There was more than enough space for them to run around outside. We also played in the water, which was warm and shallow. Bring a pair of water shoes, as there are some rocks and shells. The deck is also lovely during the day and at night to star watch. We always ate in the enclosed dining area which was perfect…no bugs and a great view. The owner came by to see how our vacation was and he was both friendly and kind. We corresponded with his son for all booking and home related questions and he was always very prompt to reply and professional, which we appreciated. Overall, I would recommend this place to any family looking for a peaceful place to relax and play. I would have no reservations about coming back to vacation here.

Absolutely Outstanding!!
My husband and I brought our 3 grown children, their spouses and all their children ages 5 months, 4,5,6,7,17 and 21. We spent a wonderful week at this property. Even though its off the beaten path, the island is small enough that it did not matter! We stayed and relaxed some days and others we did day trips. Lots of room for all 4 families so we were not tripping all over each other. The home us fantastically equipped, we lacked for nothing. 3 bathrooms and the washer and dryer were life savers with the little people! The home is beautiful the view is spectacular. The kids puddled in the water and at low tide we walked way around the point. A magnificent Osprey family were in a tree just outside the kichen window! There are beautiful beaches all around and Alberton is 10 minutes away and can satisfy all your needs. The Boat Shop was a fantastic place to dine out..a 10 minute drive. All in all...this is a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10!!! Loved it and hope to revisit next year!

NEW Modern Peaceful Secluded Retreat
If you are looking for a place to enjoy all the comforts of a brand new home, while being able to relax and reflect in solitude, this is the place. This home is away from the highway, at the end of a classic PEI red dirt(sand) road. There is no store at the end of the road, no street lights to distract from the serenity, no traffic, it's perfect.
You can enjoy a covered veranda, a water front enclosed patio, open patio, or a covered patio all in the same home. Panoramic views that you just can't take your eyes off. You will enjoy watching an Osprey nest right out the kitchen window, and herons in the water in front. The home is so clean, and new. I think we were the first guests.
I consider this place perfect for a silent retreat, as you will not hear any sounds made by man. Only nature at it's finest. Come, relax and be at peace. If you want to leave the rapid go go go pace behind for a few days, this is the place.
This is the best stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a vacation rental. The owner is so kind, he even took time to go into town with us and showed us where we can buy fresh lobster, explained how to cook the lobster and shell fish, and pointed out the bakery in the nearby town of Alberton, about 10 to 15 minutes away.
Thank you for sharing your home and beautiful property with us.
