About this house rental
Our home is undoubtedly the most reasonably priced house on the beach. The only thing between our front row home and the beach is the dunes, our private dune deck, and our beach boardwalk. (Few Kiawah homes have decks in the dunes!) Walk out the door of our home and access Kiawah's spectacular ten mile beach and the glistening Atlantic Ocean in our backyard.
In the house, you can hear the surf and feel the ocean breeze. Staying DIRECTLY ON THE BEACH makes your vacation much more enjoyable...(and there are fewer hassles). You can put your beach gear out in the morning and leave it all day. (Since there is no parking anywhere near the beach, folks have to tote their gear across the island...unless they're staying right on the beach.) It is a luxury to be able to walk a few steps to the house for a drink or for lunch, to take a break from the sun, to check on your family or catch the news (or, if you must, check your email). Our dune deck is a wonderful spot for morning coffee, happy hour, sunbathing, and stargazing (it has a big sky view). You can also take your baby monitor and spend time under the sun or the moon, while keeping tabs on your sleeping infant or TV-watching children in the house.
The living room has ample, comfortable seating (2 sofas; 1 converts to a comfortable double futon). It has Smart TV with YouTubeTV & DVD and wood-burning fireplace. The dining room seats eight and has a sideboard. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a bar with three stools at the window. The screened porch has a small dining table and sIX comfortable cushioned chairs.
The master bedroom has a very comfortable king bed, two dressers, occasional chair, smart TV/DVD. The second bedroom has a comfortable king bed & two dressers, Smart TV/DVD. The third bedroom has comfy twin beds, two dressers, Smart TV/DVD. Two baths, one with large shower and one with tub.
Cypress walls and ceilings and hardwood floors throughout give the house a clean, charming, beach house ambiance. The yard is large with stately live oaks and palm trees and there is a two-car carport. The side yard is fenced for dogs & bike parking. The house is clean and well-equipped. We do not provide beach chairs (but chairs and umbrellas can be rented on the beach).
Strolling the ten-mile long, pristine, wide Kiawah beach or swimming, boogie boarding, or body surfing in the calm Atlantic waters cannot be beat. Birdwatching (pelicans, egrets, herons, sand pipers, etc.), dolphin and shrimp boat watching, and wildlife/nature watching (alligators, deer, bobcats, etc.) are restful pastimes. Surf fishing, crabbing, and shrimping are some of the favorite activities on Kiawah. Kayaks, surf boards, and windsurfing gear can be rented on the beach. Canoes and kayaks can be rented on the Kiawah River.
Bicycling is a favorite activity. Rental bikes can be ordered in advance and delivered the day you arrive. There are 30 miles of bike trails all over the Island. There is now a nice bike trail off the Island, taking you to shops, Seabrook and Johns Island. Bikes MUST be put behind the wooden fence from sundown to sun up. Bohicket Marina, right off the Island, has restaurants, shops, boats for rent, parasailing, deep-sea fishing, etc. Picturesque Freshfield's Market at the entrance to Kiawah offers restaurants, a bar, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, soda fountain, bookstore, outdoor outfitter, fashion boutiques, banks, great grocery store, concerts, local produce at farmer's market, and much more. There is more to do than ever on Kiawah... or you can do absolutely nothing!!! There is a never-ending assortment of activities in neighboring Charleston and around the Low Country (museums, plantations, aquarium, Fort Sumter, shops, restaurants, theatre, etc.). Guests rave about Two Sisters Tours in Charleston. Kiawah is a gorgeous, tranquil, safe island, perfect for a family vacation. We'd love to rent our relaxing beachfront home to you.

One renter wrote the following regarding allowing dogs in our home:
"For anyone worried that a “dog-friendly” home would be covered in hair or smell like wet dog, I assure you that is NOT the case here. The house was spotless and we felt like our dog was the first one to ever stay there."
I love what one renter wrote to me:
“One word answers don’t seem adequate enough to describe our experience at Kiawah. Well actually one word does describe it, PERFECT!
“Was the house what I expected? No, it was better. I had never rented over the internet before and wasn’t familiar with Kiawah and although exactly as stated on VRBO all I kept thinking on the 12 hour trip down was, ‘It sounds too good to be true. A house on the beach and they allow dogs. Something has got to be wrong.’ I worried the entire trip down. I was ecstatic and relieved to find the house charming, clean, and comfortable. I’ve been many places but never felt so at home. We all felt that way, even the dogs…
“We definitely want to rent again and again. I didn’t want to leave and considered squatting. If we ever win the lottery we will make you an offer with the promise never to ‘tear down’.
“If a genie told me I could have any house on Kiawah Island, 3 Eugenia would be my choice, it is the only one that looks like it belongs there and feels like a home. Thank you so much for sharing it!”

Perfect beachfront location with cozy and charming vintage vibes, comfortable beds, and a fully stocked kitchen. Private boardwalk to the beach makes it an ideal family getaway!

Wonderful rustic beachfront property; efficient access process; clean throughout; comfortable furniture; well-equipped kitchen; and gracious host. We had a great visit and hope to return soon! Thank you!

Had an excellent time. 2nd year in a row staying at this property. It is a perfect location on quiet Eugenia right on the beach. Just big enough for our family of 5 + my parents. Despite a hurricane, we made the best of it.

As Kay states in her VRBO description, staying right on the beach with direct access simply cannot be beat!! From hitting the waves quickly to sitting on the beach at night looking at the stars and moon - fabulous!! Everything was just as described, and I thought the home was larger than appeared online. The house was very clean, neat, very well organized and labeled. No surprises as Kay gives you all the info you need before you get there. We had a blast, and found the house to be well located for all activities. Get to know the bike paths, they will get you everywhere and anywhere quick!
Thank you Kay!!!

Our stay felt like a trip back in time. The house is so cute and cozy. Everything we needed was there and then some. Staying directly on the beach was a treat! Hope to stay again next year!

The location is perfect, and the home is well maintained and comfortable. You definitely have the feeling of a beach vacation, being only steps from the ocean.

We enjoyed this home and its direct beach access. We also enjoyed the seating area on the dunes along the walkway to the beach when the temperature dropped. The dog friendly policy allowed us to vacation with our pups and the back hose made it convenient to rinse the sand off them . A comfortable stay for us and a fun week fishing and enjoying the ocean.

We visited Kiawah for the third time and finally got to stay on the beach. The location is what makes this property a winner. While the house is classically charming and very clean, the proximity to the ocean can’t be beat. Nice screened in porch made evenings peaceful while listening to the waves.
Fully stocked kitchen.
All the modern appliances you need.
Nice private boardwalk in good shape.
Beds were comfy.
Showers with good water pressure.
Fans in all rooms were a nice feature.
Would’ve preferred updated furniture in the living room.
We ordered beach service for beach chairs and umbrellas which was ideal. So nice to not lug a bunch to the beach and set up tents etc.

While visiting this home for the 2nd time with my spouse and adult children, we once again found this home a nostalgic, dreamy place to enjoy an extended visit with family. This home has all the touches of a well loved and cared for family treasure. With original wood and vintage details it feels truly like a home, just steps from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. My adult children say they love it because it reminds them of their grandmother's home. Warm and comfortable, authentically charming. But with all the modern convenience you want. Thank you Kay for your hospitality once again. Bannister family

Location … location … location
The proximity to the beach via the private boardwalk was the best feature of this property.

Fantastic location. 1950’s time-capsule. Clean. Owner kind, responsive and organized. Dog friendly. We would rent again.

Property was mostly clean, dead roach in one of the bedrooms. House was hard to find in the dark, the house number wasn’t lit up. Need updated pics and more of them in the listing. The owner was kind and very communicative. The only thing we needed to make us feel safer was a hand rail for the front stairs which we slipped on.

It was the first time that we had stayed oceanfront at Kiawah, so we definitely spent more time on the beach. It was the perfect house for a family, felt like a home away from home!

The house was well-stocked, welcoming, and absolutely immaculate. The owner went out of her way to assist me when, first, I forgot to record the lockbox code...then failed to find the WIFI password (clearly marked in a rental info notebook left in plain sight)...and, worst of all, got my dates mixed up and was prepared to spend another happy night when the cleaning crew showed up!! We will absolutely be back. Next time I'll bring my brain :)

The beach house was a perfect getaway for our family and grandson who had just turned two. The location was so convenient for our family to carry our beach chairs and to return home
For lunch. The owner kept in constant contact and was extremely helpful. She had two notebooks that gives helpful information regarding restaurants, things to do while on the island, and local shopping. We will definitely return!!! The house was older but spotless.

This house has the three most important assets of any piece of real estate: location, location, location. The beach is about a 30-second (if that) walk. The house is also squeaky clean, and cozy, and will make you nostalgic for the old-school beach houses with paneling and side porches. Looking forward to another stay!

Quiet, private boardwalk to beach. Older ranch but comfortable and ideal for baby in walker to roll from living room/dining room/kitchen. Screened side porch and fenced side yard very dog friendly.

We had such a wonderful stay at 3 Eugenia!! This home was perfect for my grown children and two grand dogs.
We were very thankful to find such a great home on the beach that is pet friendly. We didn't want to leave!! We spent our days at the beach which was only a short walk on the private boardwalk, biking, lounging in the porch enjoying the ocean breezes and listening to the surf, and playing tennis at the top rated Roy Barth Tennis Center which was just a short bike or car ride away. Eugenia is a magical street with its natural and quiet beauty. Kay is an excellent host and her home is well-equipped and very comfortable. She provided all the information we needed to make our stay pleasant and stress free. We're already looking forward to another stay at this cozy, vintage treasure sometime soon!

This is the real deal beach house so reminiscent of childhood family trips. Stellar location, cleanliness and appointed with everything you will need. Coffee on the boardwalk sitting area to start the day and cocktails on the porch to close it. Made it perfect. Only wish we had a second week to be at 3 Eugenia. Most grateful for owners kindness.

This home feels like the family cabin but on the beach!
Warm, comfortable, inviting. We loved the screened in patio for evening hangs with the family. Private boardwalk to the beach is dreamy. Star gazing on the deck was beautiful. Comfortable beds with window to the ocean, listening to the surf all night. Thank you Kay.

We spent a few months during the winter and really enjoyed ourselves. The cottage transformed me back to my childhood - it is perfect for families with children and pets. The cottage is located right on the beach and is equipped with all you need to enjoy the summer. We especially loved our sunrise walks. Thank you to the owners for their hospitality during our stay.

This spot is all about the location! It’s a modest (well kept) house nestled in a beautiful neighborhood. We stayed for the locale (beachfront! The island itself!) and were not disappointed. We rode our bikes everywhere and absolutely loved the landscape and wildlife. The owner is very responsive and a delight to communicate with. Two thumbs up!!

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this oceanfront house. It is like a time jump back into the 1950's as Kay has maintained the house almost exactly as it was in 1955, all maintained almost as new with the necessary modern additions....heat/air, kitchen appliances and laundry. Being able to walk a few steps to your own beach is a luxury. The street it's on is wonderful, with a tunnel of live oaks down it's mile long stretch. We can't wait to visit again!

This property hit the spot. Perfect location, steps from the beach. Your own boardwalk. Functional and relatively new kitchen. Porch with gentle breeze.
Pet Friendly!
10 minutes by bike to the world’s best tennis facility.
I recommend highly and will likely book several weeks next year.

This is the third time we’ve rented this lovely vintage beachfront home. The setting is beautiful, lots of wildlife, and the gorgeous beach is just a few steps away by a private boardwalk. The screened-in porch is a favorite of ours, as well as the deck in the dunes. The owner, Kay, is wonderful to work with, and we plan to return!

Family Beach Week
The house was so great and the location was as well. Right on the front beach! The grandkids could run back and forth from the house to the beach. The house was clean and well equipped and had plenty of room for our family of 8. We will definitely be back!

Such a Gem!
We had an amazing stay! The home smelled clean as we entered, the beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed for home cooking meals. The porch was a relaxing cool spot when we needed a break from the beach. The location to the bike trails was ideal and was a great way to end our days. We are used to more of an ocean view on our beach vacations but understand the protection the dunes are to this amazing house.
Kay - thank you for sharing your home! The details you provide make it an easy stay. We also loved learning this history of it all too!

Fantastic oceanfront and pet friendly
Everything was as advertised with this oceanfront delightful family cottage. Easy to care for our dogs safely, and everything at the house had instructions/labels to make things obvious. Would definitely rent again!

Wonderful Nostalgic Kiawah Getaway
This is one of the original Kiawah beach houses owned by the same family for generations. They have kept most of its original features. The home is clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything needed for a relaxing stay. The location cannot be beat. Working with the owner, Kay, was a pure pleasure. This beach house takes you back to simpler days on Kiawah.

6 celebrating 65th birthdays and 55+ years of friendship
This cozy rustic home was perfect for my friends and I. Very comfortable and clean. Small kitchen was nicely outfitted with plenty of dishes and dishwasher. All wished we had used the outdoor shower sooner. We didn't realize it had hot water until day before leaving. An enclosure for privacy would be a nice thing to add. A precious gem.

Swiss Family Robinson
We loved everything about this house, but it may not be for everyone! We loved the vintage counters, wood paneling, salty and sandy porch - it brought us back to how the beach should be! We felt safe and our young kids were at ease! The beds were very comfy!

Doing get away
This is a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. We loved that it’s on a dead end street. Normally there is so much traffic on ocean front properties that we have stayed at. It has a very private yard considering it’s location as well. We will definitely be returning at some point.

Great Home!
Having visited Kiawah for over 30 years, this was our first stay at this historic Kiawah Island home. The private boardwalk and the screened-in porch offered relaxing and peaceful sounds of the ocean. This home provided everything we needed for a great family vacation.

Great location, pet friendly but a tired dated property
The location is fantastic, right on west beach. The property is dog friendly with a small fenced in area. Many of the amenities are old and worn, for example sheets were thread bare with no elastic in the fitted sheats.. There were no spare sets but upon request the owner did provide a replacement. Many of the towels were worn with holes. Many of the older original windows in front of the house do not lock, "vintage" counter tops are very tired and kitchen drawers were difficult to open and close as were some doors in the house. While the location is excellent the abundance of small issues like those mentioned left us with a disappointing experince.
