About this house rental
Your new favorite vacation rental is just across the street from the sand on the delightfully isolated Cape Meares spit. The home has expansive views from every window. The Pacific In front, Cape Meares Lake and the coastal range in back. Watch the sun and colors and clouds changing as the day meanders along.
Venture out the front door for a beach walk or launch the tandem kayak from the backyard. You may see Elk, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Osprey and more. The area is rich in history, flora and fauna. When you tire of the great outdoors, put a log on the fire, nestle up and enjoy the “modern rustic” ambiance inside. Read about the nearby town that fell into the sea, (the book’s at the house) and enjoy the distraction of the landscape. Storm watching is great as the clouds roll off the ocean, under the house, and resurface on the lake.
The house features a Great Room (kitchen & living), large deck with grill, wood stove (with free firewood), laundry washer & dryer, 2 bedrooms with 1 queen size bed in each, and 1 bath. The expansive sofa easily converts into 2 twin-sized beds and comfortably sleeps 2. House sleeps 6 total. Free WIFI Internet. No landline phone or television.
The kitchen is fully stocked (we cook alot) with a microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender and all basic amenities. We have extra bedding, games for the kids, and all you need for a comfortable getaway. You will NOT find a tv. Bring your laptops for that. We recommend you arrive with food in hand, as the nearest grocery is a 15-minute drive to the Tillamook Safeway.
We're happy to accommodate early check-in and late check-out when available.
Dogs are allowed with a non-refundable $65 deposit. We even have dishes for Fido. Please note: There is a 2 dog max and we request the pups mind their manners and wipe their paws.
Book now to ensure your crew’s escape to the edge of the wilds, and one of Oregon’s hidden treasures.

The location is so amazing — fronting the lake and one house in from beach access. It’s a quiet and private neighborhood with really great vacation vibes. It was really great to be in a home where the only thing we needed to bring was food. Definitely recommend The Last Resort and looking forward to renting again!

We LOVED our visit and plan to be back. It’s a perfect location in such a peaceful setting. The simplicity of the home makes the stay restful and a place to unplug.

Love this cozy little house and the privacy it offers, along with easy beach access. Nice, friendly neighborhood for a chilled out beach vacation. Host is great and super communicative. Has everything you need.

We had a terrific time despite cooler than anticipated temperatures. The dogs had a blast running on the beach every day and hiking trails with us. Communication with manager was great.

For Mother’s Day we came out to this beautiful little house for the weekend and had a fabulous time. It’s tucked in between the estuary and ocean and has absolutely incredible views! The backside of the house is up against the estuary and your son to sleep by the frogs. The front side has great views of the ocean and sound of the waves. The house itself is small and very clean. Was perfect for myself, my friend, and our two kids. Use of the kayak and the dock was great. We also brought two SUPS and went out on the water every day. Can’t wait to stay here again!

We stayed here for our nature loving daughter's 11th birthday. Tons of bird sightings as well as deer and other critters. We loved it that there were no TVs - we all actually felt unplugged, and played games together as a family and enjoyed staring into nature from 3 sides of the house. Everyone seemed comfy in the beds for sleeping. Will definitely look at availability again in the future!

We love this little house. We stay in Cape Meares at least a few times a year and this is our favorite spot. You can't beat the view and access to the beach, it is well-appointed and comfortable, and the enclosed deck is a bonus for anyone traveling with a dog who likes to sunbathe.

The Last Resort was the perfect location for our family to escape the craziness of the holidays and spend time making new memories. The house was cozy and well-stocked; I can't think of a thing we needed we couldn't find. You couldn't ask for more epic views. If we had this much fun in the dead of winter with the rain and the early sunsets, we can only imagine how magical it must be in summer. We hope to be back!

My husband and I rented this property to celebrate our birthdays. Our two sons came to visit for a day each (too short but life happens). Weather started out wet and cold but ended up sunny and warm. The birds in the area are diverse and vocal. We had a lovely, rustic, sand-filled, bird-serenaded stay.

This was our 3rd year staying at the Last Resort. Warm, and cozy. Almost felt like home. Definitely one of my favorite places.

The house was perfect for two singles, or couples. Maybe two children, they would be in living area on sofa. beach is fabulous, house well equipped for basics, but could do with new blinds. Next time well bring our water filter..tap water is not very palatable. Thanks for dog bowls😊 We were looking forward to canoeing on the bay as offered, but it was just tideflat at the dock. Bird watching was awesome. Will definitely return!

Very relaxing. The beach was close and relatively secluded. Our dogs loved our beach walks. The home was clean especially the kitchen & bathroom and being able to bring our dogs was a huge bonus. The lake was virtually dry directly in the area of the home. We didn't know if that is seasonal or if the detail should be updated. Overall we had a great trip and enjoyed our stay.

Last Resort is a kind of magical spot. We loved its views of ocean on one side & lake on the other, lake dock for kayaking, and proximity to beach access. It was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed. We hope to return!

The house is great. Clean and everything was comfortable. There’s a lot of beautiful things to go see right out the front door. We hiked around bay ocean spit, up to cape meares lighthouse/octopus tree and drove to cape lookout and hiked there also. The lake was too shallow to get our canoe in and out from the dock which was a bummer. I would recommend booking earlier in the summer if you’re interested in canoeing or kayaking from the dock.

We had a wonderful stay just steps from the beach and views from the home. Going to sleep with the sound of the ocean was the best. It had everything we needed so we were able to make meals there, perfect. Should have a quest book for people to sign to see where everyone is from and their adventures! Tunnel Beach is a must see and not too far away. Also, really appreciated the boat, our boys had fun.

This is our favorite place to stay on the coast for me, my husband and our pup. There are views from every window. I fall asleep to the ocean waves and wake up to the birds. The kitchen is large enough for us to make our meals. This place is pure relaxation.

What a great location - between the ocean and the lake.
We were comfortable and found everything we needed in the cottage. We counted more than 20 bird species from the deck!

Felt overpriced for a quality of old house. This house will need a major renovation and will need a better housekeeping agency. Property manager took time to resolve issue’s quickly so it was a big help. Great location. Beautiful beach. I would come back once house is updated in the future.

I loved looking at the birds on the bay side and the beach was so relaxing to walk with my dog. I’ll be back! Thank you for letting people stay here.

Clean vacation rental in a fabulous location. Steps away from the beach with fresh water lake behind the house. Located in a quaint quite out of the way community. We have stayed there twice, and plan on returning.

I live in Chicago and my daughter lives in Portland. I visit her every year, and we try to take a few days to get out of town and explore a new area of Oregon. We had been to the Coast before, but never to the Cape Meares/Tilamook area. This property is so amazingly situated on both a lake and the ocean, convenient to many varieties of trails and nature - we loved exploring, and also loved the peaceful surroundings of the home. At night, the only sounds are from the lake (frogs and crickets), combined with the ocean waves. It was a restful three days in lovely surroundings. Genna was a wonderful host!

This house has amazing views of the lake and the ocean. It is well appointed with everything you need for a great get away. Cape Meares has no hotels, restaurants, etc., so it's the perfect place to unplug and relax.

Had a wonderful and relaxing stay in Cape Meares. The house is nestled between the beach and bay with stunning views. We spent the mornings exploring and afternoons relaxing indoors enjoying the cozy wood stove. Genna is a very responsive host and quickly replied when I sent her a message. We hope to stay here again in the future!

We had a lovely stay with our daughter, who was visiting from Brooklyn. The view from the living room is amazing--looking west from the comfy couch, you see the ocean waves and beach. Looking east from the kitchen window is one of the most diverse and delightful bird populations we've seen in Oregon--blue mountain jays, red-headed blackbirds, wood thrushes, swallows, a sweet and playful mallard couple and more. It felt like staying in a comfy tree house. We will definitely stay there again!

This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The views are spectacular. Although the weather was miserable during our stay, we enjoyed the cozy fire and watching the waves roll in. If you get tired of watching the waves, simply turn your head and look out at the lake. Bird watching during the day and listening to the frogs at night was very peaceful. The house was very well stocked but if you are a coffee drinker, make sure and bring your own coffee as only instant was provided. Would definitely stay at this property again.

We have rented a few different beach houses over the years and we especially enjoyed this one, mainly because it was set up to have a great family vacation with things like beach toys, paddle boat, kites etc…

We had a fantastic time at this lovely little house on the beach AND on the lake. We saw soooo many different birds, took the kayak out on the lake, and watched the storms come in from the coast.

This was a great place to spend a couple nights on the coast! It was so fun having the lake and beach surrounding us, and the amount of bird activity was incredible. We will definitely be back!

This is our third time renting this property and we can't wait to go back again! The house is small but cute, perfect location and lots of goodies (kites, sand toys, beach chairs, kayak, etc).

Our family spent a weekend to celebrate our Grandson's 8th birthday. The place was nice and cozy and we sure enjoyed having close access to the ocean beach. Definitely recomend this place!

We have stayed here many times and have found the house clean and well stocked including fire wood for the stove. On this latest visit the cleaners finished an hour late. It would have been nice to know about the delay.

Nestled between the lake and the ocean the location couldn’t be better for beach walks and watching the birds and clouds!.

We’ve stayed here before and would again. Cozy, well- appointed spot so close to the beach. Easy check in and great communication.

We loved the location of this house, easy access to the ocean and bay. We were unlucky with terrible weather, but hope to try again another time.

I love this house! Views from every room, miles of hiking right out the front door, elk wondering the streets in the early mornings, sea birds galore.......it really is perfect!

This place has views for days, from every room. The kitchen had everything we needed to make involved meals. The seating was very comfortable and the location was quiet/peaceful. We have already booked a return trip and contemplating an additional weekend.

We absolutely loved our stay at Last Resort. The views of the ocean and lake are wonderful, the many birds singing, the waves crashing on shore. It was perfect for our fall vacation. We would love to stay again, unfortunately we will be getting a puppy soon and then we would have too many dogs for this great place.

The goal was to unplug... mission accomplished. This little house with two bedrooms and a sectional couch and no TV was great for us, our teenager and our friends. Game nights, walks on the beach, and reading books. The kitchen was well appointed with a tea kettle and enough dishes, mugs, pots and pans to let us cook for the crew.
