We loved our stay in this house in France. A lovely restored house with lots of character, in a small and quiet village. Christopher and Marine were amazing hosts. There are plenty attractions to see in the area and lots of wineries to visit.

We loved our stay. It was peaceful and relaxing. A small garden shaded by trees and a beautifully designed splash pool. You will probably need a car to go shopping and visit the magnificent villages of the Luberon and restaurants. Private parking just outside the property.

Good spacious solid built house with thick walls so cool in summer. All amenities very good. Slightly shady garden so sunbathing short period. Nice plunge pool. Could have extra covers on beds if it gets cold at night. Good internet. Very nice all round.

A comfortable base in Provence
The property, which is near Gargas rather than Joucas, is
a comfortable base from which to visit many of the well- known hill towns, such as Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Goult and Saignon. Slightly further afield are the charming towns of Isle- sur- la - Sorgue and Lourmarin. There are well- stocked supermarkets in Apt and Coustellet ( which also has a good small bakery) and weekly markets in many of the nearby towns.
The house has a well- equipped kitchen for those who wish to eat in, and for those who would like to eat out but close by, there is an attractive hotel within walking distance, where dinner is served in a courtyard under the trees. The hotel is called Mas de la Tour, and you must book for dinner by lunchtime.
The splash pool is a welcome retreat in hot weather, and the shady trees in the front garden help to keep the area cool.
The owners are a charming couple, who know the area very well and are happy to advise on places to visit, restaurants, markets and other matters of interest.

Charming!
My husband and I stayed here for two weeks in summer 2018. We loved the authentic Provencal architecture and decorative elements. The house was not only charming, but also very functional. The kitchen was well equipped, and we cooked most of our meals at home, and ate in the pretty front courtyard. The splash pool was a life saver during the heat wave. A very comfortable and charming house--wish I could have lingered longer!

Perfectly located home that exudes French charm. Beautifully decorated and a delightful home base.
This property is surrounded by exquisite villages in every direction and Marine and Christophe provided wonderful guidance on the places that are incredible but not yet inundated with tourists. We felt we were living as locals in a dream house. The rooms were spacious and cool. The garden and the small terrace provided tranquil spots to rest in the shade or under the stars. The house is lovingly decorated and to walk in the door is to feel immediately at home and relaxed. We simply cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our week here as there were astoundingly beautiful sights around every turn in the road. We will certainly come back.

Lovely comfortable house with everything we needed
Within reach of lots of interesting sights and Provencal markets, with a super outdoor pool 10 mins away. Would recommend the property and area to all Francophiles!

Delightfully French
A lovely authentic french home. Clean and well kept the property is very comfortable for a number of people. We were two and did not fully use all of the amenities. The walled garden provided a cool relief from the mid-day sun. The home is warmly decorated and includes a dishwasher, and lots of art. We made day trips to all of the beaux villages because it was centrally located. A great place for hiking and bike riding. Accessible restaurants shopping and local markets. We would love to come again.

Charming Provence house
It is a very charming Provence house with antique furniture, well appointed rooms giving a cozy and quaint feeling. Loved the fireplaces in the kitchen, living room and main bedroom. Good take off place to explore the wonderful Luberon villages. Would have appreciated proper wood for the fireplaces - we had to provide our own. Note: hydro (heating and electricity) is extra.

A Dream Come True
Maison d'LArtistes--Sept.3/16-Oct.1/16
Nestled into the quiet, rural Hameau of Tartuguiere in the Luberon Valley is a little jewel of a country home.
My wife and I rented this property for a month---and it is without doubt--the best vacation we have ever had.
The owners--both artists--Marine and Christophe were very helpful in every way---always available if need be--but never intrusive.
The home is a 19th century setting out of a Dickens novel---lovingly restored with wonderful antigue furniture, from family treasures.
The setting is surrounded with vineyards---but several marvelous village towns are all within a 30-45 minute drive away--with wonderful restaurants.
We enjoy cooking our own meals, and the kitchen has everything one needs .
This is a location for those who have DONE all the major cities of the world, and are looking for a quiet rural retreat.
My only fear in writing this review--is that it will be difficult for us to repeat such a wonderful experience--I warn you--book ahead and early!
Merci beaucoup, Marine and Christophe.

Wonderful home in the Luberon Valley of Provence!
My husband and I, accompanied by a single friend, stayed at La Maison d’Artistes for a week in May. The weather had been windy for weeks but stopped the day after we arrived. The lavender had not yet bloomed, but the beautiful red poppies had! La Maison d’Artistes is tucked in the tiny hamlet of La Tartuguiere in the Luberon valley of Provence, not far from some of the lovely little hilltop villages scattered throughout the area. The hamlet has one leather workshop, but no stores or shops are within walking distance. There is one nearby bar and restaurant/hotel (we loved the restaurant). But although it is within walking distance, we drove there was no lights on the roads to or from. A market, bakeries, gas station, etc. are about 4 k in the nearby town of Apt.
We loved the charming La Maison d’Artistes……..the pictures on its website are very accurate in depicting the rooms. And even though it is an older house, it had all the features we could ask for…. 3 fireplaces, 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom and one small room near the laundry area that had a toilet and sink, a living room with TV , kitchen/dining room with microwave, stove, pans and dishes, washing machine, clothes drying rack, etc. The home has wall heaters in every room, but in April we found no need for using either the fireplaces or the heaters. The circular stairs were fun, but would be a challenge for those with physical disabilities. The front yard and the small rooftop terrace are quiet places to read and relax. Christophe and Marine were available for any questions or help if needed………but since Christophe had explained everything so thoroughly upon our arrival, we saw Marine on only our departure day. We are so happy to have found Christophe, Marine and their wonderful La Maison d’Artistes….. it was the perfect base from which to start our daily explorations of the gorgeous Luberon valley area.

Beautiful home with large rooms
Gorgeous house with nice yard. Close to so many amazing sites. House is full of art. The kids really enjoyed the splash pool in the yard. we used the top terrace to watch the stars at night. We did a lot of reseach before booking a place and this one really has it all... great beds, big rooms, laundry, wireless, satellite tv, gas stove, terrace, yard, cool art, good kitchen set up. The hosts were very accommodating and offered to meet us in the nearby town if we didn't have gps. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

A Comfortable Home in Provence
My husband and I stayed here for three weeks in October, a perfect time to see Provence. The location was great for day trips to see the beautiful area. We returned home each day to enjoy the fireplace and prepare dinner in the kitchen. All of the rooms are large with modern and antique decoration, a good combination. We used the fireplace in the kitchen for breakfast a few times for a nice way to start the day. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, just added vegetables from the market and meat from the butcher. Upstairs the bathroom has a good shower with plenty of hot water. Everything is just as shown in the pictures with very pleasant owners to help you enjoy your stay. The wi-fi worked perfectly!! The front courtyard is small, but large enough to enjoy eating outside plus enjoying the splash pool. It was too cool for us to enjoy this, but we enjoyed the fall color of the vines and trees. I believe you get value for your money here. Oh, and the bed was very comfortable. We had cool nights which I enjoyed with a warm blanket. There is plenty of storage area in the bedrooms. It would be a nice place for a family and just perfect also for a couple!

Rustic home in quiet hamlet
My husband and I spent two weeks here at end Sept early October. Many hours were spent relaxing in the sunny courtyard. The home is rustic and takes some time to get used to, but we settled in and were very comfortable. Some evenings and mornings were cool but we were cozy in the living room with a fire in one of the three fireplaces. There was an ample supply of wood and kindling. The area has many charmes and some great restaurants. But it is France after all!! Christophe and Marine were lovely, helpful and very accomodating. We had a lovely time in their home.

Charming home in a great location
My cousin and I stayed in this lovely cottage for a week in September. It is perfect for 2-4 people, with plenty of space where you can relax. It is an older cottage, so you can expect things not to be shiny and new, but instead to have charm and character. It was an absolute pleasure to wake in the morning with the sun coming in through the windows, and to peek outside into the garden and see the statues there. It is a great location for exploring the Luberon - although be prepared with good maps and/or a GPS (lots of twists and turns all over).
It is in a rural location (albeit with neighbours - so you don't feel isolated) so there are no food shops within walking distance, but this didn't bother us at all. You are literally 6 minutes from Roussillon and about 18 minutes from Apt by car.
Would definitely recommend the property for those who want to relax, savor the French countryside, and explore the local villages. (*You can also book a wonderful balloon ride with Montgolfiere that leaves from Roussillon at dawn - if you're there spring/summer/early fall).

Charming,rustic home in Provence
We stayed in this lovely home for two weeks in June 2015. Our adult son joined us for the second week. We found the home to be perfect for our needs--comfortable, charming, and located within easy access to lovely historic villages and points of interest; Gordes, Lacoste, Joucas, Rousillion, Menebres, etc. The house is located just minutes from a large supermarket just in case you get tired of eating every meal out at the fabulous restaurants nearby and want to eat in!!! Marine, the owner, is extremely gracious and attentive, and is always available to help if needed. The home is very comfortable for two couples and one bedroom has an additional small bed for a child. We recommend it highly. Bikes were available for rental just up the road from the house at a large resort complex.

Charming and very clean place
This was a charming place to stay. It is a good central location for visiting the Luberon. The house is well equipped and is very tastefully decorated and has very interesting art and sculptures. The house was clean. The beds are comfortable and the garden is charming and private. The owners are very nice and available, when needed. The Webber grill was working perfectly. A super market is also not far away. We would stay there again.

This lovely two story country home is near red poppy fields blooming in May, yet only 3km. From Roussillon where there is a bakery, market and several cafes and restaurants. Surrounding villages suitable for an artist to paint are St. Saturnin d' Apt, Tuesday market, Lourmarin, Friday market and L'isle sur la Sorgue for Sunday farmer's market (antiques too) for a start. Buy fresh ingredients at farmer's markets to enjoy preparing in a fully stocked kitchen, then eat outside under shade trees at French blue table and chairs. Artists' home, the decor is authentic and comfortable, the owners' are charming, helpful and informative. Most highly recommended.

Hoping to Return!
My husband and I spent a month at this wonderful house. We had friends visit us while we were there and the layout worked well for us. The beds were very comfortable.
We loved the courtyard for apres cycling drinks and appys and evening meals. Most meals we cooked at home with ingredients from the local markets. We have wonderful memories of bbq dinners and drinks with friends. We also had a couple dinners at La Petite L'histoire a wonderful small restaurant in the closest village of La Chene.
The terrace overlooking the countryside is perfect for morning coffee. I miss it terribly!
We had thought we wanted to rent a house in a village but after staying out in the country found that we loved it. We cycled almost everyday to a new destination. It was very centrally located to visit all the hilltop villages and superb cycling for all levels.
The ambiance of the house is wonderful. Rustic, Provencal, creative. Some evenings were cool and the kitchen fire was wonderful for warmth and character. Internet was phenomenal. It worked on the terrace, in the courtyard, in the bedrooms and with multiple devices.
Marine was very helpful with all questions we had and delivering our lost luggage twice!
She met us at a nearby location to take us to the house.
The house was clean and well-equipped. We would definitely recommend a stay here. And hope we can return :)

Autumn Days
My wife and I stayed in this delightful house for the month of November 2013.The house is full of character with excellent modern pictures and objets d'arts and makes an ideal base for visiting the stunning hillside villages ( eg Roussillon,Lacoste,Oppede Le Vieux.Bonnieux Menerbes) as well as the cities of Avignon,Arles,Orange and Marseille.Supermarket shopping in Apt is 10 minutes away but Apt is dull and decaying. The scenery around the house from Route Panoramique is,as the name suggests, enchanting with a combination of clear blue Autumn skies, reddening vines and rows of cypresses. The neighbours were kindly and non obtrusive.Marine was ever helpful and friendly.Internet access was fitful and according to a neighbour has always been so but this is a place of escape from the electronic scene. The latter part of November was very cold with early snow and,for us,turned out to be too late to visit Provence. However we fell in love with the house and the area and plan to return to both next October.

We spent several months at this little maison in Provence which was a perfectly situated to explore the Luberon region with its little perched villages and offered the opportunity to immerse ourselves in daily village life.
We arrived in the late summer and stayed through the fall....the garden/courtyard was spectacular...enough shade to sit comfortably and read outside and the plunge pool offered the opportunity for a dip to cool off after coming back from a hike in the area or tennis at the little club in Apt. The courtyard with its charcoal bbq was well laid out with two tables and ample seating for dinners outside on warm evenings. We enjoyed coffee in the mornings on the upper deck which offered a sweeping view of the vineyards and the sounds of birds chirping.
The kitchen was stocked with all the essential tools necessary to cook delicious meals after a trip to one of the local daily markets in the region. It was lovely to have the fireplace in the kitchen on the cool fall days...not only did it warm the place but it enhanced the atmosphere of the rustic country kitchen.
The bedrooms were both large and well appointed. The master bedroom had a fireplace which we made use of on cool fall nights. The down duvets kept us toasty and the beds were firm and comfortable. The bathroom had a tub and powerful shower and there was always plenty of hot water.
Marine was wonderful and gave us lots of suggestions on hikes and off the beaten track places to see. She was very attentive to our needs and responded immediately to any questions or concerns. There are many good restaurants in the area most within about a half hour drive or less (chowhound has several good recommendations) and La Coquillade, a chateau and relais property is just down the road and has a full spa and bike rentals as well as a lovely patio among the vineyard for drinks.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property. In fact, we have been back for another visit already!

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely authentic rustique villa this past summer. Marine was very attentive in providing a baby cot and high chair (at no extra cost), as well making sure our Internet connection was up and running properly (connection was great!).
We loved lounging around in our private garden, bathing in the plunge pool beating the summer heat. The house was comfortable, with an adequate kitchen, with a fig tree providing breakfast fruit for us in the morning! The master bed was very comfortable (firm but not too much), better than we had anticipated.
We did all our shopping in nearby Apt and spent half days exploring all the delightful villages and surrounding natural beauty the Luberon has to offer.
This place offers a great deal for families looking to visit a popular (read chic and expensive) part of the world for a reasonable price with very nice surroundings.

We stayed at La Tartuguiere for the month of October,2011. It was an oasis of calm after visiting other more touristy sites. The cottage was roomy and well furnished. The courtyard was wonderful for evening meals after a day of sightseeing. The location was wonderful, just off Rue Panoramique. Beautiful views in every direction. Marine was very helpful and readily answered all of our questions. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to friends and relatives and hope to return again next year.

We stayed at this beautiful place during our vacation and felt like we were living in Provence. The house is very nice with a quiet and peaceful courtyard to accommodate relaxing and eating in the fresh air. Marine was very nice and kind in offering suggestions. We had a rental car which was very much needed to drive around Provence to see sights. The house was difficult to find for someone new to the area but once you are given directions, it was easy. We enjoyed our stay and would come back to Provence again!

My husband and I rented this house for a week this September. We had not visited the towns of the Luberon which we had heard so much about like Rousillion and Bonnieux but did not want to stay in those towns in case there were lots of tourists, which there were. This was an ideal situation for us. The house is so typical of what I had thought of as an old French house, although Marine tells me that it has been rehabed. However, it is darling in every way! I love the kitchen which has a door on the north and the south so that you get good ventilation. There are two bedrooms and because we are tall Americans we used the second room without a footboard. There is wonderful closet and storage room off this room. We were right in the middle of the region we wanted to get to know and after each day of exploration we loved coming back to this quiet, peaceful house. Marine arranged to have a woman from one of the local bakeries bring us croissants each morning. There are fig trees for ripe figs to add to our morning cereal. It was ideal and I think the rate is very reasonable. Off the D900 follow signs to the Mas de Jorel, into Tartuguiere but have Marine meet you there the first time because it is hard to find.
