Located on a very peaceful, wooded lot-- Wake up and maybe see a deer in the woods behind the house and the sound of the birds singing. On a windy day, you can hear the waves from Lake Michigan!
A charming and relaxing home in Lakeside, MI, only ten minutes to the shops/dining/entertainment of New Buffalo!
A short 5-7 minute walk to the quiet/private Association beach of Lake Michigan. Only for owners and guests.
Plenty of trails for hiking, bird watching and biking within minutes from the property. This area is gorgeous in spring, summer, fall, and winter!
Location from Chicago is only 1 hour and 30 minutes from downtown - an ideal weekend escape to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!
The home is irresistibly charming and comfortable. All linens and towels are provided, as well as all cooking utensils for great at-home meals and barbecues! We provide charcoal, firewood for the fire pit, coffee and filters!
Free Wi-FI, Satellite TV, VCR/DVD, washer/dryer.
The home also has a large private yard (fenced in at the front of the yard, the remaining yard is surrounded by woods and landscaping) perfect for children & pets. The neighborhood is very child safe and pet friendly. The house has games, books, puzzles, and satellite TV.
Don't leave your dog at home! We DO Allow DOGS, but no cats.(Pets are considered on an individual basis). So, if you are averse or allergic to animals, this is NOT the home for you.
ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE.
We do not rent to anyone under 25.
PLEASE NOTE -- most all of the homes in the area have access the Association beach via the 54 stairs, down to the beach area.

My husband, dog, and I had the pleasure of staying at blue bird cottage and it was wonderful! We loved having the whole house to ourselves. The close walk to the beach, the scenery, the peacefulness of the cottage and its location were all perfect! The owner was very kind and so accommodating. We loved the fire pit at night and relaxing on the hammock. The town, cottage, and beach are all very dog friendly and was perfect for our pup. Can’t say enough great things about this home. We hope to be able to stay again!

My husband and I have been taking our golden retriever to union pier for the past four years and this cottage and location did not disappoint! It was a short 5-7 min walk to the private beach and our pup had such a great time. I was also very impressed with the cleanliness and accuracy of the listing. Definitely recommend and looking forward to booking again!

We had a great time! The house was really nice and clean and not too far of a walk to the private beach! This time of year was perfect also. Not crowded and the weather was perfect. We will hopefully make this a yearly trip with our doggie❤️

The home is roomy and comfortable. The owner provides everything you need, including beach gear, towels, and cookware. They even have towels for the dog to use. The owner has a nice booklet which provides and overview of the beach access, other amenities, and guidance for dog owners. The beach is a short walk away and was never crowded during our week long stay. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful.

The cottage was very clean!! All necessary items were easy to access. Good communication with owner prior to our arrival and during our stay.
Overall an excellent rental, very comfortable and a great location to beach and Harbor Country sites/restaurants. Definitely would rent again.

This property is perfect. Especially if you have a dog companion. A wonderful yard. The accommodations are cozy. The host provides all the right touches. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels and blankets. Feels like home. A 5 min walk to the beach. We will definitely be back.

We were so happy to get back to Harbor Country after many years, and the Blue Bird Cottage was perfect for us and our pup! The charming home was even better than its description and it's obvious that the host puts so much thought and care into it. We hope to stay here again!

What an exceptional getaway! All the amenities made for a superb stay. We are not beach goers so having everything there for our use was absolutely perfect. The accommodations in the house were all we needed as well. Our dogs enjoyed the morning and evening walks around the neighborhood, the peaceful nature and seeing all the dear. We made life long memories and got some beautiful sunset pictures of us on the beach! Thank you for opening your home up for our stay.

This is the second time my husband and our dogs have stayed in this wonderful house for a long weekend. Love the location, tucked away among the trees and a super quick and relaxing walk to the association’s private beach on Lake Michigan. Thank you to our host for the lovely welcome gifts. Precious little cottage. It had everything we needed and it was so clean. Loved the extra details. The owner left us a bag of local chocolate covered pretzels and some local handmade soap. So thoughtful. Never had any one else do this when I’ve rented from them. Cottage is in a great location and

We had a lovely time at The Bluebird cabin! It was the perfect getaway for our family from the city. Lovely gravel path leading to the beach, the house was clean and inviting, outdoor area was great for us to enjoy bbqing, making s’mores, hanging with our dog and kids! The treats we received made the stay extra special. I personally love all the hooks making it easy to hang our towels and belongings. We will definitely be back!

We so loved our visit here! It was our first time to this area and we had such a great time. Perfect combination of relaxing and things to do in town! Our golden retriever had a blast on the beach and didn’t want to come home! :)

Tucked in the woods is this quaint nicely decorated home with all amenities you need. Great base for travel anywhere in the area. The wagon was a plus. Outside decks needed some cleaning attention but given woods understandable. Yard fenced on 2 sides and ivy /woods boundary on 2 sides. It gave our grandson 3 and dog 9 a good boundary line in which to stay. Note it is in woods so poison ivy and oak at property edge. Had a nice bonfire /s’mores 1 st night. Is close to Red Arrow Hwy so there is train norm noise in early evening. Overall a great location for a few night stay, but with preparing for a wedding and five people, I should have considered we would need a second toilet/bath.

Great location
My family of four and two dogs had a wonderful time at Blue Bird Cottage. Very clean, comfortable, and had just about everything you would need for a one week stay. The yard was great for our dogs. Beautiful wooded area and less than 10 min walk to the fantastic beach. Leslie was so quick to respond to a couple questions I had prior to our arrival. We met the property manager while he was in the neighborhood. Such a nice guy to talk to and offered to help with anything we may need. We would most definitely stay here again.

Serene Cottage
We loved that it was hidden in a peaceful setting away from traffic. Short walk to the wide-open beach where you can walk for miles. The sunset was amazing.
It was great that our stay came with items to take to the beach, chairs, umbrellas, etc so we didn't have to bring them. The cottage has many amenities which, due to our limited time, we weren't able to fully enjoy but hope to during our next stay. Our planned destinations, even the grocery store, were all within a short distance. We were spoiled.
We would love to make this an annual event.

Excellent stay
This was a fabulous stay. The house was cozy and very well equipped. No surprises-everything was exactly as described. Dog friendly, great location everything we wanted.
Two suggestions: one, the directions to get to the house were a bit unclear so it took us a while to find it. Two, we knew our dog needed to stay on leash at the beach so it wasn’t a surprise but we were able to find an area that was beautiful and close by where our furry companion could romp freely and enjoy the gorgeous shoreline. This place is a gem.

Pure Michigan Heaven
Love this house by the lake. The owner has thought of everything. The home is nicely updated, kitchen is well equipped, and there are lots of beach towels and beach chairs you can use at the private beach. The backyard was beautifully landscaped with a great patio table and fantastic firepit with a full stock of wood. The house made our Michigan getaway weekend perfect and the private beach was a wonderful bonus for our stay.

A piece of paradise!
My husband, dog and I loved our stay at this gorgeous cottage. It is decorated so beautifully and was so clean. We were obsessed with all of the windows/natural light and the large, tree-lined yard where we could sit in the sun with our books or by the fire pit at night. Our dog loved relaxing on the deck. The well-kept outdoor space is just a huge plus here! We felt so relaxed both outside and in! Leslie was easy to communicate with. The walk to the beach was under five minutes, and we would walk into our favorite coffee/sandwich shops in Union Pier in under 30 min., depending on how distracted we got by the beautiful water. The kitchen seemed well-stocked but we didn’t use it for too much. We slept well as the mattress was really comfy and we could open the windows for the lovely spring breeze. We really hope to return to this peaceful haven soon!

Perfect Getaway
The Bluebird house provides a peaceful setting in the woods where strangers are friends. This pet-friendly property had it all - well stocked kitchen, nice amenities and even gifts from a local market for the renter. Private Association beach was easy to get to. Leslie was gracious as a host and her communication was timely. Having repeat renters (per guest book) says this is a place to make memories, as we did, and hope to return as well.. Charming decor, recently updated interior. The owner has outfitted the cottage with all things needed for comfort, convenience and fun. Just a short walk to a beautiful beach area. Very lovely and peaceful getaway option!

Perfect getaway
We had a great time at the quaint blue cottage. The house was well equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. The owner has thought of everything. There are “junk” towels to use and special welcome treats on the counter which my husband loved. We brought our own, but there were even dog bowls, toys, and leashes for dogs. We felt very welcomed here. Perfect location to check out the Warren Sand Dunes Park! Thanks for letting us stay here!

Enjoyable Little Getaway!
The Bluebird Cottage was lovely. Very clean and fresh and just a short walk to a beautiful beach. September was a perfect time to go as the beach was not crowded, but we still had warm weather and the dogs had a ball!
One downside, if you take dogs, is that the nice little yard is not completely fenced in, so we couldn’t totally relax outside while keeping an eye on the dogs, but we were aware of that ahead of time.
Leslie was very nice to work with. We would definitely stay here again!

Great stay in cute little house near private beach
We loved our stay with our dog in this cute little lake house near a private beach. The house was clean, updated and very well maintained. It had every essential for the house and beach you can think of ready for our stay. It’s a short 5 minute walk and then down some sturdy stairs to the private, uncrowded long stretch of beach. It’s also a short 5-10 minute drive to the Warren Dunes State park. We would definitely stay there again!
