Amazing place and experience! Everyone from Ricardo to Santos and Luis were super helpful. Will be coming back!

We spent 2 weeks at Villa Martita in June/July ‘24, with family and friends, using every bedroom available. The marvelous view, large pool, newly renovated kitchen, and efficient and helpful staff are all highlights. Some of the bathrooms need updating and a few struggled to get hot water or good water pressure. The open-air, typical Tico common and dining areas were large and comfortable, except during the worst heat or rain. All bedrooms had strong A/C and the beds and linens very comfortable. The house sits on a hill just above Coco Loco and had a stupendous view of July 4 fireworks on the beach. We hope to come back!

This property is great! The view is beautiful! The pool is large and clean the the beach is literally right down the steps and across the street, super close! The house has a nice updated kitchen with a huge fridge which was great for our group! It was rainy season, and it rained! But the beautiful terrace was a great gathering space for our group of 12 to play cards and games. The house is in a great location, within walking distance to several restaurants (including Coco Loco, may favorite!)
The staff kept the place very clean and were very nice. Overall it was an amazing house for our family gathering. Would definitely stay again.

My bachelorette party and I stayed here and it accommodated 9 girls. The newly renovated kitchen was phenomenal with essential items equipped for cooking. We enjoyed the views and many seating areas for our large group. Some issues we had were: some showers only running cold water at first, limited cellular reception in the dolphin and pelican rooms, dolphin and pelican bathrooms are not securely covered, and outside critters (spiders, crabs, and raccoons). It was very comforting to know that there was a night guard and daytime caretaker. Overall, despite some small issues, I would recommend staying here for a large party. We even left some floaties for future guests to enjoy, but used an electric air machine to fill them up.

As stated in other reviews, the house is dated, but the amenities and location are perfect! We had a great week enjoying the pool and easy walk down to the beach. Walked to Coco Loco daily because we did not cook much, but the kitchen had everything you need if you do prefer to cook. We had iguanas and spotted a coati in a tree! Great week!!!

We enjoyed our stay at the Villa immensely! We really have nothing bad to say. We stayed for 10 days Ricardo and his team were always ready to help if we had any questions or needs. It is a 5 min walk away from beautiful Playa Flamingo beach. The pool was a great way to cool down if you didn't feel like going to the beach.
If you get the chance to stay at this Villa I recommend it.
Thank you for your hospitality Ricardo and team

We stayed at Ricardo’s property for a week with five different family units. There was enough room for all of us to have space and gather together. The pool and views from there were a favorite for everyone. The staff at the house was extremely helpful and kind to everyone. We especially appreciated Luis’s help when ordering pizza one night for dinner. Ricardo was an excellent host and answered ALL of our questions leading up to and during our stay. It was a great place to all gather together.

The location was ideal as the beach is beautiful and it’s close to several good restaurants. The house is older and does not have air conditioning in any communal areas, only the bedrooms and the kitchen is not ideal for cooking for a large party. Ricardo and Luis were very helpful, and responsive.

Villa Martita is beautifully decorated with a wonderful view of the beach and the sunset. The pool is large with a mix of sun and shade all day. Santos keeps the pool and deck clean and scrubs the grill. His great niece, Tatiana, cleans the kitchen and makes beds. His son, Luis, the night guard is alert to noises. I stayed in the Dolphin room which has the outdoor bathroom with 2½ walls and a vine half wall on the rest. The bathroom is set up high above a sidewalk and has plenty of ventilation and great view of the ocean. When I banged something at night, Luis was quick to run his flashlight along the sidewalks, watching for an intruder. The Dolphin room is large with a comfortable king-sized bed and a kitchenette with full refrigerator/freezer. The bathrooms in the main house are the most modern. The bunk bed room has 8 twin beds. In the Turtles Apt the bathrooms had water heaters on the shower heads; there is a full refrigerator, table, and 1 room key for the outside door. One review mentioned that the toilets don’t take toilet paper. That only applies to the Pelican apt which has a tree growing through it, which adds character, the Monkey apt, and maybe the Crab apt which we didn’t use. My sister stayed at Hotel Margaritaville and couldn’t flush toilet paper. We did not run out of water and did not lose power as mentioned in the previous review. The kitchen is in the screened in area so jump in the pool when you get hot. Villa Martita has some quirks, but is a great value!

We had a party of 20 people staying at Villa Martita for a senior spring break trip. The view and outdoor areas are incredible and the pool and surrounding area accommodates a large group. The hammock was so relaxing! The long table that seats a large group is a definite bonus. The properties location could not be better for an active group. We enjoyed the easy access to the beach, Coco Loco, Margaritaville for happy hour, and even walked to town several times for coffee and ice cream. The AC in the bedrooms works great (minus a couple days in one of the rooms, but Ricardo was very responsive and got it fixed). Ricardo was very attentive to our many concerns, specifically the cleanliness of the kitchen and bathrooms.
Things to note:
Can't flush toilet paper
Daily power outages common
Water runs out around noon
Sewer smell in a few bathrooms
Wildlife sometimes show up in house
Not all rooms are shown in listing, two room have outside bathrooms, one has a tree in it. Also lots of ants, and a few large spiders. Staff is great but speak very little English. Chef service was wonderful, kitchen is small and dirty. With some cleaning and updating this place could be magical. We have some great stories and memories to last a lifetime. We would go back if it was gussied up a bit.

This was a week my kids and grandkids will remember the rest of our lives. The location was excellent, the place was wonderful with plenty of room for all of us. We only used 5 bedrooms so there was plenty of room. We used the available cook for most of our meals and the food was excellent. The owner was available whenever we needed to ask questions. He furnished maid service, grounds keeper, and even security nightly. He arranged for travel, tours, colf carts, etc. which we paid for separately, We couldn't ask for more from him. Access to beach required traversing a lot of steps down and back but at 78, I made it OK, even went zip linning the first of the week then used the golf cart and a lot of rum. We will be back. Costa Rican rum and coffee are the greatest and it's easy to bring back through customs. Hasta Luego

Location and views of the ocean from property are breathtaking! Short walk to a beautiful beach. Pool and deck area are awesome. Wonderful outdoor area for all of us to congregate in the evening as well as a large table which seats 14 so we could all eat together. Ricardo, house manager, was wonderful to work with. Quickly responded to all of our needs. Through him, we hired a chef to cook all of our evening meals which were wonderful. Would highly recommend doing this as the kitchen is quite small. The week at Villa Martita was everything we had hoped it to be. We would definitely recommend!

great home....wonderful staff. Security with Luis is wonderful. He roams around the property all night.....feels a little odd at first but if you talk to him, he is a very kind human being and he cares about you and his job. Pool is absolutely amazing.

My family and I stayed at this Villa in Playa Flamingo for 7 days and it was amazing. We had 10 people in our party, but this property had room for at least 10 more. Ricardo was amazing and had great communication throughout. We even utilized the chef and concierge services, which were outstanding. The caretakers Santos and Angelica were so kind and helpful and the night guard Luis was very friendly as well. I would recommend this property to any large group. The only drawback was the water pressure was a low a few evenings, which I believe was due to the local utility services. My family and I will definitely be back to this Villa!

We planned this trip for 2 years and it measured up beyond our expectations. We are a large family group of 17 people and everyone had space to relax alone as well as socialize together. We all wish we could have stayed longer. Ricardo was quick to respond to questions and hooked us up with Andres who organized transportation and excursions for us all of which were wonderful. Santos and Angelica kept the place tidy, Lois kept the place secure and Miquel cooked fabulous meals. Hope we get to go back someday

We traveled to Villa Martita with a group of 21. The main house and apartments were perfect for this group. The location is breathtaking. Ricardo was very helpful with planning the trip as well as answering any questions we had while there. The staff was welcoming and helpful.
This was an amazing vaca for us all.

We were in town for a beautiful wedding! The property location is perfect! An excellent restaurant called Coco Loco is just down the street! The rooms are nice and the staff was great! All the meals we had prepared at the house were amazing! We will definitely stay here next time!

What an amazing location and view of the ocean. We had a party of 16 people and rented all nine rooms. We could have easily used less bedrooms or had 6 to 8 more people but it was nice to have some privacy too. Gorgeous pool and grounds.
Ricardo, the owner was exceptionally responsive to all our needs and questions. He arranged transportation to and from the airport, a day long deep sea fishing excursion and a cook for our arrival dinner and breakfast the first morning. The meals were delicious and we arranged 2 more breakfast and another dinner with Miguel. We did cook several meals on our own. The kitchen was well equipped but small. This area did not have AC so I would recommend Miguel's services instead. It was very reasonable and delicious and the price included the cost of food.
Although we rented a car for 7 people it was not necessary. A smaller car to pick up groceries would have been enough. Transportation was provided for all our excursions and for a $4 taxi ride each way you could get to and from Shell Beach for amazing snorkling. We also recommend renting a canopy and chairs from Texas Tico. They will do drink and food runs, transport to and from the villa via a golf cart in addition to providing lots of good advise and company. We so enjoyed this couple from Keller, Texas who now live in Costa Rica.
I highly recommend this property for anyone except toddlers due to the multiple levels and steps. The description of this property was very accurate.

The pictures do not do justice to this home. The maid, caretaker, and night guard were great to work with and fill our every needs. Ricardo, the owner, was always available if needed via phone. The home a little dater but very clean and decorated very tastefully. The pool very clean and a great view right to the ocean.
The home very large but easy to navigate and serve the 17 of us in 6 AC bedrooms. Close to everything in Playa Flamingo. We rented Golf Carts which give us a great deal of freedom to explore the area. We want on a sail boat, 5 want fishing, a ATV trip, and the combine zip line, etc. All a great of fun. The ATV trip was very duster and very rough roads and the swim spot was not very good.
But the other trips were worth it.
For the price, this home is a bargain.

Overall the property was perfect for hosting multiple families. There is private space and communal areas to spend time together. The best part was the view and the pool. The kitchen is small and difficult to prepare meals so we mostly ate out. The wildlife was cool and The staff helped keep the area safe and somewhat clean. It would’ve been nice to get the sheets changed since there is sand and sweat at the end of every day. Would recommend this property for large families.

Just got home from spending 2 weeks at Villa Martita. What a beautiful relaxing place. There were a total of 15 of us sharing the lush grounds, house, common areas and pool and it was a perfect place for us. All rooms had A/C. The view on the pool deck is amazing, and we would all go out to watch the spectacular ocean sunsets. We all loved the pool, and the nice beach is only a 2 minute walk down the steps. I will caution that the section of Flamingo Beach right in front of the house had frequent rip tides, but beautiful Playa Conchal is only a 10 minute drive south. The house is one of the older homes in the area, so if you are expecting a Westin look elsewhere. If you want a beautiful, lush comfortable place to relax and enjoy with family and friends, then I definitely recommend Villa Martita. Had howler monkeys come by twice during our visit, as well as many birds, squirrels and iguanas. We used the cook Miguel about four times and would also recommend him. There are onsite caretakers, Santos and Anjelica who are there daily to help keep thigs clean and running six days a week from about 7am to 5pm. They only take Sunday off. Every night there is a security guard named Luis. Made us feel safer. They are all pretty non-intrusive, but if you are a private type you may not like this. Ricardo, the owner, speaks excellent English and was always helpful with our phone and email questions. Thank you Ricardo for sharing your beautiful home. I hope to return some day.

Loved our stay at Villa Martita! Ricardo the owner was such a big help with booking and information on flower shops and food.
We had a wedding (18 stayed at the house)on Flamingo beach which is a 3min walk or less from property. During that time it was pretty much our private beach. Coco Loco catered our wedding at the house. They are amazing and I could eat there every night. The pool is huge! Pictures do t do justice.
The view and sunsets are stunning . I would suggest for a group and would come back.
There is also security and cleaners on the property .
Parking for three cars. The property is a venue itself. We rented a few cars. There is also golf carts for rent down the street.
It was perfect for our wedding.
Thank you Ricardo

We loved our time at Playa Flamingo! The property easily accommodated our large 3 family group. Ricardo’s help arranging evening meals was super easy and the food was excellent and well priced. We loved eating our meals outside - 10 kids on the big table and the adults out near the pool on other tables. The pool was very nice and was refreshing after a day at the beach or out shopping.
Access to the beach was fantastic. Very easy to go down a series of steps (steep) to get to beach level and then only a few more steps and your at the beach. We found the beach to be one of the best we have ever been to. Not crowded at all - in fact some mornings we had most of it to ourselves. Great waves for boarding and body surfing.
Overall we loved our stay!

We had an amazing family stay for 11 at Villa Martita at the height of the dry season. The property was lush, green and beautiful. The howler monkeys cycled through at least twice during our week's stay, which was super fun to see. Baby monkeys! The Villa was homey, and the pool was wonderful with a mix of shade and sun at most times of the day. Santo, the groundskeeper, has a full-time job keeping it clean and fresh, which he does very well. I felt there were plenty of towels, beds were comfortable, and kitchen was well-equipped. The outdoor living area had a great mix of smaller and larger tables, for card playing, lounging, or a big family dinner. The location next to the beach was excellent. There is a set of steps, but it keeps you up away from the beach road, which is a plus. Ricardo was very responsive to any issues that came up or questions that we had, and we appreciate him sharing the home with our family!

Villa Martita provided an excellent location for a mini-family reunion. The view of the ocean and sunset is spectacular from the pool deck. Its a short walk to the ocean and Coco Loco restaurant. Many comfortable areas (in and out) to congregate. Fine accommodations with many choices for rooms to accommodate different size groups. What we liked best were the personal touches of the owner's family - this is not a sterile condo, but rather a very nice home. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a great outdoor BBQ. We felt very secure and safe, and the house is well maintained by the housekeeper. The owner, Ricardo, is a phone call away and very helpful. We can't wait to go back.

We were a group of 15 and is just perfect . The house is perfect for big groups and families . The view is amazing and the short walk to the beach . Ricardo is so increíble helping us coordinate everything and have the chef to have breakfast and some dinners was perfect at the house .
Santos , Angélica and Luis were so good and caring !!
All of us were so happy and impressed that we can’t wait to comeback .
Thank you for everything again Ricardo.

The view, location and outside areas of the Villa can not be beat. Well maintained and had everything we needed. With a group of 13 there was more than enough room for everyone. Ricardo was great at getting us set up with transportation, tours, on sight massages you name it. The staff, Santos, Angelica, and Luis took care of anything we needed. We explored the surrounding areas and beaches and by far, Playa Flamingo was not only the prettiest beach but also less crowded. We truly felt like it was our own beach. We had a restaurant within walking distance and rented a golf cart for transportation around the town to shop. Fantastic place.

We had a family of 13. This property is spacious, has private rooms and apartments but also has common areas to relax and gather. Outdoor living area, several patio areas and the pool. Very short walk to the beach. Beautiful sunsets everyday. Small short rain showers on a few days. But we loved it. Howler monkeys arrived in the trees on the property on our last night. We watched them eating the fruit in the trees and saw them again the next morning. The grounds keeper, and cleaning lady are there during the day but give you privacy. Luis was there overnight. We included Luis for dinner every night. He mostly ate after we went to bed probably because he’s on a different schedule than us. We went to Nicaragua for a day trip. Deep sea fishing out of Playa Flamingo and water falls, mud bath, hot springs and river cruise and lunch at a local farm. We rented Golf carts and explored 4 local beaches. Everything is close by. Great local restaurants and bars. Local grocery shopping.

We had a group of 13 people traveling to Costa Rica and this place worked out wonderfully for us. We had plenty of room for everyone to have their own privacy. We did rent the house and all rooms/apartments. Some of the rooms did need some attention/TLC but over all we were happy with the location as it suited our needs.
The common areas outside were fantastic. The grounds are well kept and the grounds keeper is there throughout the day to keep the pool nice and clean. The housekeeper was also there daily as well and both were very kind. The view from the property is absolutely breathtaking and we spent the majority of the time at the pool when we were at the house. The steps to go down toward the ocean are a bit dark at night and steep so keep that in mind if traveling with children or elderly.
Coco Loco was a short walk from the house and the food was fantastic. We also utilized the personal chef that Ricardo uses and all the food he prepared for us was amazing. It was really convenient to have him show up and cook for us and it was very affordable. We rented a car so that we could go to the grocery store and cook some of our own meals. The food at the store was a bit pricey and so was the beer ($10 USD for a 6 pack). I would suggest that you buy some duty free liquor on your way if you can to help cut down on the cost of cocktails.
Ricardo was hands down amazing in helping me to coordinate this trip for 13 people. He was always very responsive to me via email. He helped to book the van service to and from the airport and the personal chef. He made the entire process so easy for us and I can't thank him enough. We also used the van service to go to and from Tamarindo for some shopping and dining. It was so nice to be able to get all of us in one vehicle at the same time.
On our last day there a family of howler monkeys came to visit. it was absolutely fascinating to watch them. Overall we loved our trip and had a lot of fun. We do not speak Spanish and found that we had some breakdown in translation while there so please be prepared for that if you do not speak/understand Spanish.
Ricardo you are the best and we very much appreciate you. We can't wait to visit Cost Rica again in the future!

We stayed here at this property with 15 people and it was perfect! Everyone had their own space and privacy and we never felt cramped. We also had the neighboring condo rented with an additional 11 people and Villa Martita provided us with an exceptional place to relax and visit without feeling crowded. It was like our own mini resort
The house sits up on a bluff, so the view from the pool let us have the most amazing sunset views. There was always a small breeze coming off the ocean which was wonderful in the heat. They had a few pool toys and noodles for us to use. However, there is only a few beach towels provided.
To access the beach there is two ways to go. Some people have complained about the stairs to the beach. We did not think it was bad. From the steps, the beach is a block away. You can also take the driveway to the beach, just a longer walk if the stairs are an issue.
There is a delicious restaurant just steps from the house and a few more a mile away. A rental car is necessary if you need to go to the grocery store. Most of the tours do pick up at the Villa. Be very cautious of Major Tours. This is a man who will stop by and try to arrange tours. We had a horrible issue arise with him. Use at own risk!
We felt safe at this location. There was a grounds keeper there during the day and a night watchman if any issues arose. Housekeeper was wonderful!
I believe this property is a little older, and could use a few upgrades but these were minor details. We were very happy we stayed here!

Hands down the best rental property I have ever stayed in across the world. I have traveled to many great places, and I must say that this was the best place I have ever stayed. The pool was the perfect size, the apartments were perfect for the couples we had staying with us, and the main house provided a large number of beds for all of the guests to have their own. We rented this property with 20 high school friends for a wedding, who hadn't been together for 10 years. I can't begin to say how perfect of a spot this was for all of us. Flamingo beach is my personal favorite beach in the area and we had a staircase that brought us directly down to the beach. The staff was over the top. Helping us with dishes, laundry, and anything else that came up. Simply put, if you have a large group traveling together, this IS the spot. Ricardo was so easy to work with and made checking in, out, and any questions that came up seamless. Thanks again for an amazing week at Villa Martita!
