About this house rental
Located just one block from The Delaware Bay, this home offers beautiful sunsets and easy access to beaches that are pet friendly with no beach tags or parking meters. Enjoy a short walk to the Bayfront bar and restaurant or a bike ride to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal. The home sleeps 8-10 with the top floor offering a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a private bathroom and a private porch. The first floor features 3 bedrooms with double beds and a smaller private bedroom with a double bed and bathroom. Pullout double bed couch in the family room provides additional sleeping. ****Please note: Linens and towels are not included - blankets and pillows are included. The home has 2-zone central air / forced natural gas heat with ceiling fans throughout and a gas fireplace in the family room. First and second-floor decks are perfect for morning coffee. The backyard area is fully fenced in and has a large deck with a paved patio and a large wood-burning fire pit, 1propane gas grill, an outdoor table, chairs, umbrella. After a beach-filled day cool off with an outside shower. A Landscaped backyard provides privacy and shading. There are beach chairs, coolers, and a beach cart available to get everything you need to the beach or bay. We have provided you with many of the amenities that you have at home: 3 smart screens Tv’s, digital cable, high-speed wireless internet, central air, ceiling fans, microwave, air fryer, 2 refrigerators, 1 coffee maker, 1 Keurig coffee maker, blender, toaster, washer/dryer, and parking for 4 -6 cars.

My family truly enjoyed our week at Nels property in Cape May. The location on the bayside was perfect for our one year old grandson and his six year old brother. Quite a change from the surf and higher waves on the ocean side (but we did pop over there for a couple of days). The house is roomy, comfortable and has a pleasant familiarity with a large outdoor deck. Our golden doodle was a little worried about the stairs but that’s because we only have one set in our home. Daisy adjusted nicely after a couple of days and it was a real joy to have our fur baby with us too! Kudos Nels. We will be back!

House was very clean, nicely decorated and spacious for our 3 families. Great backyard with ample shade and play area for small children and our dogs.
Neighbors were friendly and helpful with providing information on local attractions.

Nels is an amazing host and his property is AWESOME! Everything was so clean and ready for us to have fun (bbq, fire pit, huge back yard). The neighbors are fun and welcoming without being nosey. The bay is literally 100yrds away. We feel asleep to the sounds of waves crashing. We saw dolphins from our beach every day at sunset. The sunsets are amazing! The beach was never crowded and we took our golden retriever on it every day. Nels answered texts immediately and although we had no issues Im sure he would have handled them if needed. You need to rent this house!!

This was the first time my parents have been to Cape May. We had a great weekend, and loved staying here. Everything was clean and described accurately. Nels was very responsive and eager to answer any questions we had. Our dog loved the fenced in yard! Thanks, and we will be back! :)

Awesome back yard for our dog and lots of space inside for our teens to spread out! Great tv room and kitchen had everything you needed for cooking and baking. Bay is right down the street with great sidewalks for walking and watching sunsets. Bike trails in the nearby preserve were great. Everything about this place made you feel like you were home. Will stay again!

A group of birding friends used the home as a staging location for bird trips. With a walk to the beach, it was a great choice, great location.

We had a great time. The location is so quiet and in a sweet, friendly neighborhood. We loved how low-key North Cape May is, and the beach (which is just a two minute walk away) was not crowded at all, with great sand. Also walking distance to a good restaurant and bar. For the dog, the huge fenced yard was fantastic for her, and we loved that we could take her to the beach every morning before 11am and after 4pm each day. We always made it a point to go down and watch the incredible sunsets. We highly recommend! Thanks for a very nice stay!

Our family had a fabulous time and we were so pleased with the location and all of the accommodations. The house and property were very clean and well appointed. The fully fenced yard was perfect for our two dogs. Communication with Nels from initial inquiry through the end of our stay was superb. He was easy to contact and attentive to and prompt with anything we needed. We look forward to returning. Highly recommend!

We were pleased above and beyond what was expected with our stay at this property! Beautiful home, fully functioning and updated, amazing private back yard, one minute to beautiful beach, many sites minutes away. Owner is fantastic host, helpful, and experienced. We will definitely want to return!

The house was beautiful and the back yard was perfect. Our puppy enjoyed being able to play in a fenced in yard without worry. There are 4 bedrooms on lower level along with a separate living room…this is perfect for kids and completely separate from the master suite. One of the rooms is a walk-thru so it’s not as private but it has its own bathroom. My daughter actually loved this room. The master suite is on the 3rd level and is amazing. It’s huge! There’s a private balcony and it has a great on-suite bathroom. It’s close to the beach and to Harpoons. We will definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed staying at this home. It is decorated nicely and everything was clean and well maintained. The yard is beautifully landscaped. Easy 5 minute walk to the bay beach. Nice place for a family with a dog. I hope we can come back again soon!

Nels Johnson's beautiful vacation home is a Cape May diamond! The house is thoughtfully decorated with some of his family's nautical history and beach decor. We felt very welcomed and a part of Cape May's community during our stay. We enjoyed taking our dog for walks on the bay to look for treasures, photograph wildlife like dolphins and crabs, and watch perfect sunsets. We also kayaked in nearby wetlands, visited the Wildwood boardwalk and beach, shopped at the Washington Mall, and dined at nearby Harpoon's By the Bay. We also highly recommend Bella Vida Garden Cafe for breakfast! This house is only a very short drive to everything, has a partial view of the bay from the master suite, is dog friendly with a fenced in yard, and is in a nice quiet neighborhood. Nels is a wonderful host and responded quickly to my questions. The only thing that would have made our stay better is if we could have stayed longer!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were thankful the house had an awesome yard for our Chocolate Lab. The house was spacious, clean and had plenty of items one would need in a home away from home. Being a plant person, it was nice having a few live plants in the house. The beach was only about a minute's walk.

Our three generation family of eight spent a wonderful long weekend in this perfectly situated home a block from the Delaware Bay. The house offered clean and spacious living quarters with privacy for grandparents as well as for the young family of six. We had plenty of room to make meals in the kitchen snd all be seated at the dining table together. While we didn’t spend too much time in the beautiful living room, we very much enjoyed our private decks and fire pit area in the well manicured, shady and totally fenced in backyard where our dog had room to run and play with the children.

We so enjoyed staying at this house with our friends and dog. The house was spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. The backyard patio and fire pit area was very nice with a lot of seating. The neighborhood was quiet, and the house was a short one block walk to the beach/bay. The sunsets were incredible, too. It is a short two block walk to Harpoons on the Bay which is a lovely restaurant across from the Bay. We would book this house again.

We loved staying at Nels Johnson's beach house by the Delaware Bay. You couldn't get a better location. Nels kindly waived the weight limit on our dogs, who enjoyed the wonderful yard and nearby bay beach. This house's location gave us a short stroll down the block to the beach and incredible sunsets. The owner provided good communication. Don't hesitate to rent this home.

Best vacation ever. It was a very nice clean home away from home with plenty of room and a beautiful yard. Wanted a place our whole family could enjoy and it didn't disappoint. The bay is right at the end of the street.
There are four bedrooms on the first level. It worked out perfectly. Our grandkids were able to have their own rooms away from the main living area. The master suite on the top floor was spacious and beautiful.
The yard was great for our dog. And he could swim in the bay before 11 and after 4.
Harpoons on the Bay was a big hit for our kids after they put the grandkids to sleep.
And Nels, our host, was awesome!!!

Great house, clean, very spacious. Lots of bedrooms and all the amenities you need. The upstairs bedroom is huge. Pictures do not do it justice. Great backyard and patio area although it was too hot this week to enjoy. We loved the location just steps from the gorgeous bay, sunsets and Harpoons. Quiet neighborhood. So great that it is pet friendly!
Some things to consider if you stay here:
The yard is not fenced in, rather a privacy fence. There are 4 bedrooms in one part of the house but one is a pass through bedroom with its own bathroom, which is nice, but you need to strategically think about who will use this room because they will get interrupted. It’s the only way from the main part of the house to the bedrooms. Also there is no ground floor entry to the house. All entrances are stairs with the shortest being seven steps. The steps are open and my dog struggled with this.
Overall, we would enjoyed it and would stay here again!

We had a great time
My family, my parents, and my brother and his family (plus two dogs) enjoyed staying. The kitchen is well-equipped, and we loved how close the house is to the bay. Walking distance to the local bar didn't hurt either.

Wonderful Beach Vacation!
This house was perfect for our family vacation! The house is exactly as advertised. Clean, roomy, and fully equipped. The floor plan is especially great for families with children - bedrooms/bathrooms and a small living room on one side of the house, and the kitchen, dining area, and main family room with wet bar on the other. Conveniently located- just a short walk to the bay beach. And a short drive to everything else! The owner (Nels) was great- providing all the info we needed for our stay, answering my questions promptly, responsive without being intrusive. I would definitely stay here again!!

Amazing sunsets and the beach to ourselves
We loved the short walk to the beach and the amazing sunsets every night. There were even a couple of times that we had the beach to ourselves during the day. The house had plenty of space for our group (two families) to spread out, and the kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans, appliances, etc. I wish we had realized beforehand that the yard is not fully fenced in. We just kept our pup on a leash while we were outside with him. Fyi for packing the right sized sheets, the main level has four bedrooms with doubles (there isn't a twin). Overall, a great week in a family- and pet-friendly area.

Great property with well working everything.
My family loved the property and the nice big yard that goes with it. The three small dogs had plenty of room to run around. One caution, if your dog does not like to use open stairs, you will have to carry them. Stairs go to every access point of house. The shortest entry is 7 steps. Very spacious house and we'll appointed with commercial fishing artifacts. We felt like we were at home.

Nice home in quiet neighborhood. 2 minute walk to the beach. Enjoyed watching the sun set over the bay. Short distance to grocery store, etc. Plenty of room for our party of 9. Would stay again!

Location of the property was lovely- very near the bay. The house was spacious and accomodated my family who had gathered for a wedding. The main drawback was the small bedroom with the bath. It was also a pass through to the main living area of the house.

Great location for early spring getaway
Our group enjoyed communal breakfasts and dinners in this well maintained house one block from the beach. Our days were filled by visits to Cape May attractions and playing pickleball in nearby Rio Grande. Nels made the rental process easy
