This property is beautiful and the hosts are informative, accommodating and overall super people. My wife and I enjoyed 3 wonderful nights away from home and the stress of the city and were so happy that we chose The Island Mill Getaway. Awesome stay at the Mill. Suzie and Jerry are truly the best hosts out there. Everything was just perfect to accommodate a quiet stay. History buffs will have a great time looking at all the old mill’s artifacts. Nature lovers will adore the island set up and landscaping efforts our hosts worked out. Lots of wildlife around, beaver, geese, turtles, heron, squirrels chipmunks and tons of birds!! The room/suite is comfy and greatly furnished. We loved our stay and will be soon planning to return to see Suzie and Jerry. 5 stars well deserved.

Perfect. Wonderful hosts Gerry and Suzy. Beautiful lovingly tended property, and truly generous on the amenities. Smell the thyme! G&S have thought of everything. Unbelievably we achieved express decompression over 3 days. Paddle boated, canoed, biked, swam, bbqd, ate on the patio, enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub and the sunny seats. Sweet room, comfy bed and butter soft linens. We’ll see you next year!!

From the warm welcome and hospitality, to the beautifully decorated suite (and entire building, I might add), we felt right at home. Our stay aas perfeft. There was never a minute where we were bored. You can peacefully read a book whilst listening to the rush of the river on either side. You can sit in the hot tub and relax. STUNNING, ROMANTIC , AND YOUR NEXT GETAWAY!
5 STARS! My boyfriend and I booked the mill to celebrate our anniversary and it has over exceeded our expectations!
The Mill is absolutely stunning... a home away from home! It was the most relaxing vacation we have had in a long time.
We cannot wait to come back in the summer to experience everything the mill has to offer.
Suzie and Jerry are the most lovely couple and one of the many reasons we would return. They are respectful, easy going, and passionate about everything they’ve have built here at the Mill. They both go out of there way to make sure you are provided with everything that you need for your stay.
I would recommend The Island Mill to all the lovely couples looking for a romantic getaway.
Thank you for welcoming us into your home. We hope to see you both soon!

Cozy, familial-yet-private stay in an architecturally beautiful home in a charming landscape
We had a lovely stay in the Lonsdale Island Mill this Family Day long weekend. The setting is idyllic - the Mill is one of two houses perched atop a pint-sized island in the Salmon River at the base of the village of Lonsdale, and you are flanked by waterfalls on both sides. There were more (and more diverse) birds than you could count, and a steady stream of squirrels going by - a pleasure to witness! Even in winter, the Mill and its grounds are a delight and very clearly the product of years of work and care. Suzie and Jerry were warmly welcoming innkeepers, who gave us some great tips on nearby sights (Buttermilk Falls) and hikes (Menzel nature preserve) that we enthusiastically explored.
The Island Mill Suite is nestled in the heart of the home on the middle of three floors, accessed through the Mill's main entrance and family room. Suzie and Jerry are kind and generous hosts, and we enjoyed the conversations we had during our comings and goings. The suite itself is strictly pet-free (great for those with allergies!) but the home itself is the kingdom of an absolutely charming and cuddly cat named Linus (for the animal-lovers out there!).
The suite is wonderfully appointed, makes brilliant use of space (the secret, behind-the-painting nook for coffee pot and kettle is genius!), and comes with all the fundamentals (linens/towels, shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, a nice collection of spices/oil/sugar/basic condiments, cookware) as well as some thoughtful perks (a salad spinner, bathrobes, board games and coloured pencils...). The room has windows on three sides, so is filled with a warm and diffuse light most of the day, and the views over the river are lovely.
We enjoyed use of the hot tub, which was a novel treat on a frigid winter's night, and appreciated the little details Suzie and Jerry had thought of: crocs to step in/out of the house, extra towels by the door, an easy-open hot tub cover, etc. The nighttime view of the water, with the twinkling of the lights over the patio and the full moon, was spectacular.
We had a great stay at the Island Mill, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, familial-yet-private stay in an architecturally beautiful and fascinating home set in a charming, serene landscape.

Absolutely loved it
The mill is a beautiful place. The couple that own are so sweet and friendly. They have gone above and beyond to make sure you have everything needed to enjoy your stay. Their hearts have gone into the gardens. Fresh vegetables that are available to the guests and the flowers are beautiful. It's so peaceful there, whether you just stay in your suite or get outside. Wish we could have stayed longer than 2 days. Our first visit to Canada and after staying other places, this was by far, the best! We said several times that we wished we were back there. Definitely recommend to anyone that they should stay there.

An oasis in the middle of our travels. Room and grounds were delightful, and Suzie and Jerry were attentive without being intrusive. A wonderful experience we hope to repeat.

Exceptional hosts in an idyllic location ... fabulous honeymoon choice!
The setting of an old 19th century mill on a beautiful river, a place that had been wonderfully renovated and decorated, surrounded by meticulous gardens, stone, fountains, vegetables for the taking, and calm peacefulness would have been enough for us. But add to that the warm welcome of our hosts who perfectly balanced their attentiveness to our needs with a complete respect for our privacy and you have the ingredients for an incredible experience ... holiday, getaway, or in our case, honeymoon. The fresh tomatoes and basil in the garden, the sound of flowing water, blue herons flying by, our private fire pit, a beautifully decorated and appointed suite, a very comfortable bed with wonderful linens, even a hot tub, were all fabulous features of a well maintained property. We were close enough to Prince Edward County but also far enough away. Lots of opportunities locally to see and experience nature and history, and a short drive south to Picton, Wellington and wine country. Thank you Suzie and Jerry for your hospitality and for welcoming us to your home that felt like our home for 4 days!

A magical experience
This beautiful, peaceful and unique getaway is so much more than the wonder it promises to be. Suzie and Jerry are generous, hospitable and talented hosts who have created a gorgeous garden and very comfortable, tastefully furnished living quarters using Suzie's beautiful lampshades and textiles and Jerry's nattily contrived kitchens areas. The private outdoor areas for the guest with pergula, private barbeque, firepit and comfortable chairs near the water and the use of several boats and bikes creates a summer paradise. Kind offers of herbs and extras in the room added to our feeling of well being. We left feeling renewed and blissful.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful and as peaceful as you could ever wish for.
This is a lovely country setting away from the noise and heat of the cities. There is the pleasant sound of flowing waters outside the window as you doze off to a restful sleep in the cozy well decorated suite. Everything you need is there. We enjoyed ourselves so much for the short time we were there. Thanks, Suzie and Jerry, we hope to visit again one day. Karen and Gerii.

Hidden Gem
Who knew of this beautiful setting in Lonsdale, on an island between two cascading falls. Perhaps overlooked by the allure of nearby Prince Edward County, this getaway has it all: running water; beautifully restored historic building; comfortable rooms; gracious and friendly hosts; outdoor hot tub beside the river. Also kayaking in season. If you can tear yourself from the accommodation there are abundant recreational activities nearby and a short drive to the County with shops , restaurants, beaches, wineries, and fascinating history. We love this area and considered ourselves very fortunate to find this venue.

Magnificient
We just spent three nights in this paradise where our hosts Suzie and Jerry pampered us without being intrusive. We spent 24 hours enjoying the scenery and the other day in Picton, Bloomfield and watching the interior sea of the turquoise waters and a few stops at the wineries. We had time to relax around the private patio, BBQ some chicken, fish and went of a kayak ride all included in the price. We will definitely return and will offer a few nights for our busy younger children parents. I secretly hope that it doesn't become to popular so that we are able to return. Thanks again Suzie and Jerry for your warm hospitality.

Truly wonderful, better than expected!
When I first saw reviews from others who stayed at the Mill, I thought, "These reviews are all extremely positive...I hope they are all true!" Now, having just returned from a week-long stay at the Mill, I can honestly say that our holiday there was even better than I had hoped, thanks in large part to the generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness demonstrated by owners Suzie and Jerry. I don't think there could be a better couple to manage this type of accommodation; they are amazing to watch as they easily work together to make your stay as comfortable and fun as possible while working to maintain the property, and while respecting the privacy of all of their guests.
The Mill itself, home to Suzie and Jerry, is a treasure inside and out. I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of work that went into the renovations and décor. A gorgeous stone building built in the early 1800's, it still maintains many original features while providing guests with up-to-date comforts. Located on a small island, it is surrounded by the Salmon River, which attracts many types of wildlife, including many bird species and a busy beaver, who often visits the willow tree near the peaceful patio. Suzie and Jerry have thought of every little detail to make you feel at home within their home. We kayaked, swam in the river, had bonfires, and strolled along country roads. Suzie and Jerry gave us lots of information about local sites and we popped over to Picton and Kingston when we felt like taking in some shopping and delicious lunches and dinners.
We will definitely be back, and having said that, I am not sure how Suzie and Jerry are going to fit in all of their return guests! My advice is to book early to avoid disappointment!

even more beautiful than the pictures!
I have nothing but good things to say about our 4 night stay at the Mill this week. The property was immaculate, the room itself was so clean and fresh, and both Suzie and Jerry were incredibly helpful and it was obvious that they wanted to do whatever we could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back again! A relaxing retreat to say the least! Thank you
