A beautiful house with a perfect view!
We had a great time at Pam's house. She was responsive and helpful and her house is lovely. We paddles Nantahala Lake and searched for waterfalls during our visit. A perfect location to enjoy birding.

Great mountain getaway!
This mountain home has a beautiful view of the mountains. Enjoy bird watching on the deck with a great book, hit the Bartram Trail nearby, or go down and spend time on Lake Nantahala. This home has everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

Beautiful home- Terrible accessibility
Beautiful home with amazing views. However, the home owner misrepresented the access to the cabin. Extremely sharp hairpin curves and steep climbs. Our problem was I inquired and was told it was no problem even though I asked specifically about this issue.

Wonderful Mountain View House !
Had a wonderful stay at the Mountain View House. We loved everything about our visit…the amazing views, the house, the bird life, all the windows, and just all the special touches. Such a beautiful setting to relax and refresh at, a slice of heaven. One of our favorite rentals; we can’t wait to visit again! Darlene & Greg Hall

Beautiful house and setting
Pam’s house is gorgeous inside and out. Amazing mountain views, very comfortable and beautiful accommodations, well stocked kitchen, and a great deck for relaxing and looking out at the mountains. Pam was extremely communicative and helped with many suggestions. Definitely one of the nicest VRBO properties you’ll find.

Treehouse with hot running water!
We were elated with the mountain and forest views. Enjoyed watching the continually changing clouds and the variety of birds. We told friends it was like living in a treehouse with hot running water!
The decor is tasteful, the kitchen fully equipped, the beds comfortable, and the library very rewarding.
We enjoyed the fireplace on chilly mornings and the deck on warm afternoons.
Mountain View House is a lovely, quiet haven.

Amazing!!
We had such a great time at Pam's house! It was an amazing property with the most beautiful mountain views, fully equipped kitchen and everything we needed was there. The drive got a bit confusing and nerve racking at some point, but if you follow Pam's directions exactly and drive cautiously, there should be no problems. Pam herself was an incredible host, always kept in touch, responded quickly, helped us with any issues we had and was so sweet! We really loved our short stay at this place, and would absolutely come back soon!

Perfect Mountain Retreat
My husband and I’s experience with the booking, payment, communication with owner, scheduling, etc could not have been better for this property. Can not say enough wonderful things about the owner, Pam, truly! We had a death in the family and services occurred during our scheduled trip at the house. Pam was more than generous in working with us to move dates around so that we could do both. The home is a mountain retreat. The pictures do not do it justice! Views of the ridge and lake all along the back side of the home are gorgeous. The home itself is beautiful with it slate fireplace and thoughtfully decorated interior. The outside of the home is modern but natural looking. Pam keeps the house very well stocked. Towels, toiletries, kitchen tools, cookware, a large grill, wood for the fireplace, even birdseed for the bird feeders hanging from the exterior edges of the home are filled to the top, just bring your own personal necessities and groceries. The home is exceptionally clean, which my husband and I breathed a sigh of relief over during these times. There is also a binder provided by Pam of all the trails and other activities to do in the area. We hiked 3 of the trails she suggested in the binder. Wonderful experience that we will definitely repeat. Book this property and you will not regret it.

Wonderful Place
The house is beautiful and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked with gear - we were able to make Thanksgiving dinner without difficulty. Communication with the host was excellent - very proactive and responsive. The only downside is that the last mile to the house is a steep gravel road with hairpin turns. It is fine once you get used to it but can be a bit nerve-wracking the first time.

Mountain veiw cabin
If it is a view with privacy you want this cabin is spectacular! The view of the mountains is incredible. Large deck for your morning coffee or evening dinner. When you walk in the cabin it's like you are entering someone's personal home, not a rental. Everything you could possibly need is there. Pam was great communicating with and the check in was a breeze. Here's a few pointers before going. Shop before you go. Make sure you have gas in your vehicle. The road going up and down the mountain is tricky as well as the signage. The cabin is at the top of the mountain so the drive is roughly a mile up and down. Ask questions! This cabin is 4600 ft. up. Check in in the daylight. Driving the road at night could be a problem if your not familiar with the area. Over all, beautiful home, beautiful view! Great host!

Beautiful Home in the Mountains
We had a terrific stay at this beautiful home in the mountains. The home is well appointed and offers gorgeous views of the Nantahala forest. Everything was incredibly clean and Pam was a terrific host - offering suggestions of activities and compiling a comprehensive binder full of things to do in the area. Highly recommended!

Perfect mountain getaway
We absolutely loved our stay at Pam's place. The house is on top of a mountain with an amazing view. It's bright, spacious, airy and super clean. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. Really loved seeing all the different types of birds that would come visit the feeders. We went on a 12-mile hike and didn't even have to get in our car to get to the trail, you could connect to the Appalachian Trail from her house. This is a perfect base for nature lovers who also likes the comfort and luxury of a clean, relaxing, modern house. Pam was an excellent host, great communication and put a lot of thoughtful touches in the house for her guests including a huge guidebook to help you get to know the area. She spent considerable time cleaning the place before we got there, which we greatly appreciated. All the positive reviews are right, this is the kind of place where you'll wish you'd stayed longer. We were there for 4 nights and wishing we could come back and stay even longer.

Almost Heaven!
What a wonderful location and property! We (3 adults) had an awesome stay at Pam's beautiful home and would have gladly stayed for a few more days if it had worked out. It is definitely a great place for 'getting away from it all' and de-stressing. We had a fun time hiking various trails, but enjoyed some downtime afterwards. Pam was very responsive to any questions from us and we highly recommend her property to anyone who wants a beautiful mountain getaway.

Great View and Location Very Relaxing
Loved the location our first time staying in this area. We really enjoyed the mountains and lake. Thank you Pam for the suggestion of leaving our boat at the marina. Made things very convenient for us. House was nice and well stocked!

Great Stay
The house is Awesome, great views of the mountains. It is not far from the lake at all. It is an Open floor plan, as said in prior reviews the pictures don't do this place justice. It is really nice inside. Pam was great to work with and I am already looking forward to going back next year.

Hard to get to but worth it
If you want to feel isolated/have privacy, this is for you! The trip up the mountain off the paved road is best suited to an SUV but my Lexus sport sedan (low road clearance) made it with a couple of anxious moments. Once there, it's worth it. Beautiful view of the mountains off a private balcony with all the conveniences of home and a great CD library. Unlimited hiking trails, many with stunning vistas. Stock up before you get there and don't plan on eating out every night as there is one restaurant within less than 30+ minutes and the nearest grocery store is @ 30 minutes away. But you dont rent a mountain top house in rural NC for the restaurants, right?

Amazing mountain retreat!
Great place to get away from it all, in a modern house on the mountain! The view of the mountains is amazing. Nantahala Lake is at the bottom of the mountain. We saw a number of beautiful birds on the porch. If you’re lucky late at night you can see flying squirrels on the porch. There is a marina close by called Lake’s End Marina where we rented a boat. We went river rafting one afternoon with Carolina Outfitters and it was just a 30 minute drive away. The Wifi was slow but that could be on account of a storm while we were there. On the whole it’s a wonderful property and we would love to return.

Private mountaintop getaway.
Mountain View is a wonderful house set into the woods overlooking Lake Nantahala. It’s a steep drive up but worth it. If you like hiking you can get on the Bartram trail, or there are boat rentals not far away. Weather wasn’t great for us so we enjoyed relaxing at the house with books and cards watching the clouds come over the mountains. Also if you like birds, there are plenty visiting the bird feeders. Thanks again Pam!

Up in the clouds
This place was so much better than the photos. Updated interior. The home has large windows throughout the living room and kitchen area allowing stunning mountain views that are heavenly. Home is incredibly clean, neutral colors, comfortable beds and furniture. There are many books, CD's, and games. Everything that you need is here and available for use. At 4200 ft you are among the tops of the trees and have a direct view of the beautiful mountain ranges. The air this high up is crisp and clean. We enjoyed the bird feeders on the back deck in the morning and looking at the stars at night. Lake Nantahala is nearby with a cafe and boat rentals. Definitely recommended!

Smoky mountains, waterfalls, and a bear, oh my!
Wonderful views and cooler weather had us heading to Pam’s house. The house is pleasantly decorated and the kitchen is decently stocked for cooking/baking. We even saw a bear while preparing lunch one day. Several birds came to the various bird feeders and the smoky mountain view changed every second. The twin beds are very firm and the hall bathroom is tight and cozy with the family room. The master bath is well done and spacious.
We parked at the beginning of the Bartram Trail and hiked to Pam’s home for dinner before going to grab the car (6.5 miles). We also would recommend eating at the Dillard House and the restaurant on the lake. The Dry Falls are worth a visit, we ran out of daylight to visit all the falls in the area.
Overall we would recommend Pam’s house and when we seek cooler weather we’ll be back.

Place to "Unplug" - Spectacular!
Our stay at the Mountainview House was incredible! The house was impeccably clean. It was stocked with everything you would ever need for your stay. The vistas are extraordinary. Pam was easy to communicate with and she provides her guests with a binder that is filled to the brim with things to do. We used this binder as a guide to see nature at its finest! It was nice to "unplug" for a few days and enjoy the beauty of the NC mountains. Peaceful bliss....
We are looking forward to returning to the Mountainview House in the very near future.
Thank you, Pam, for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

What a beautiful, relaxing home above the clouds! My husband and another couple absolutely loved everything about this place. The décor, birds, artwork, kitchen, games and view entertained us fully. The weather didn't cooperate, however we all needed to unwind and relax, so that is just what we did. Pam was so kind to highlight hiking trails we might want to conquer as well as other activities in the area. We didn't get the chance to do those, but I sure hope my husband will bring me back on my sixtieth!

First of all, this home is amazing. It's truly welcoming and has the best mountain view. We stayed in the summer and birds were everywhere! There is so much exploring to do outside of this area, and when you want to just hang out at the house everything is there for you. Pam is wonderful, a woman after my own heart and she gave us recommendations on everything we could think of doing. We got engaged while on this vacation, and I could not of picked a better spot! We can't wait to come as a married couple! Thank you Pam!

This mountain view house was beyond the description. The house had a great view of the mountains, was very well kept, and suited our family. What was a delightful surprise was the nearby outdoor activities, including hikes, waterfalls, kayaking, rafting, fishing, and the list goes on. We will definitely like to come again to see the fall colors on the mountains. The owner was very helpful and informative.

This was our first time using a web site to find our vacation accommodations. We were so pleasantly surprised. The home was very clean, comfortable, and everything we had hoped it would be, in fact, it exceeded our expectations. There aren't enough words to describe the fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. It was like living in the clouds. We will definitely return and would highly recommend this home.

I can't say enough about Pam and the beautiful home she allowed us to stay. Right from the beginning, Pam was very helpful in providing details of the house to activities in the surrounding areas.
The house was extremely clean, well maintained, artfully designed and very relaxing. Everything you need for a stay, Pam thought of and provided. The back deck was about 25 ft up and stood at the tree tops. Every morning we would drink our coffee and watch the birds feed on the feeders.
As far as things to do. You can take the canoe out on the Nantahala, which was awesome. We also did some fishing out there, and that added to the fun. We did a lot of hikes, some close to the house, some a bit further. If you do decide to do a hike, I suggest Wesser Bald Observation Tower. I have hiked on the AT many times and I have never seen a view like this, truely breathtaking. Check the sunset there if you can, just remember to bring a flashlight.
I also highly suggest the Water Falls tour. Well worth it. We had never been this far west in NC and weren't aware there were so many water falls that close together. Our favorite Waterfall was the Dry Falls. You can stand behind the water and feel the power and rush of the water crashing down.
Our only regret in the stay is that we did not stay long enough. We left too soon and weren't ready to leave. Looking forward to another stay.
