About this house rental
The Bridge House was built in 1908 and functioned originally as Newgard's Store on old Highway One, which ran down to and across the Albion River. Beautifully expanded and restored in 2001, and updated in 2015, the home boasts redwood construction, wainscoting, a 10-foot ceiling in the living/kitchen area, two bedrooms, a back parlor, two bathrooms and full kitchen. It is surrounded by lush gardens brimming with coast-loving plants in bloom throughout the seasons.
Perched on the cliffs on the south-east side of the Albion River Bridge -- the last wooden bridge on Highway One -- the Bridge House offers birds-eye views of the Albion River and Bay. Lie in bed and listen to the waves crash against the wooden bridge timbers or sit on the deck and follow the birds gliding the currents. Sunsets are spectacular from the Albion Cove where you can find the fossilizing remnants of the logging railroad. Like kayaks or canoes? Walk down to Pacific Union College to rent a water exploration vehicle or if you have your own watercraft, head over the bridge to the "Flats" and launch for an up- or down-river ride for a small launch fee.
This is a great retreat for a family vacation, romantic weekend, or fun with friends. Located just seven miles from the village of Mendocino, the Bridge House is close to beaches, kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and much more. The Mendocino coast offers myriad activities for young, old and those in between! A short walk from the Albion store, which stocks fine wines, deli items, and just about anything you could possibly need, the house is also just a short walk from fine dining at the Ledford House. The Albion River Inn & Restaurant is just over the bridge.
The downstairs bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed with a pillow-top mattress and cozy cotton linens. It is connected to a bathroom with a shower, claw foot tub for two, and vanity. Up the wooden stairs, you'll find another queen-size bed with your own private balcony, comfort on a pillow-top mattress, and bathroom with claw foot tub and vanity. Radiant heat throughout the house provides comfort in any season.
The kitchen is stocked with the not-so-usual suspects; five-burner Italian stove, electric kettle, French press coffee pot, Cafepresso machine; drawer dishwasher; fridge; plus plates, cutlery, cookware, wine and beer glasses, etc.

We loved this house in Albion, a picturesque village 15-20 minutes south of Mendocino. Lots of space, beautiful garden, nice view, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and small grocery steps away, handy when you realize at the last minute that you need garlic for your recipe! Would highly recommend!

We had a lovely stay in Albion at the Bridge House. Alison was very helpful and had great recommendations. The house is spacious, sunny, well-equipped and very comfortable. We cooked full dinners twice and find everything we needed at the Albion grocery or at the house. The large dinner table was perfect for meals and games. Highly recommended!

We just loved the Bridge House! It was even better than the listing showed. So tastefully appointed in its construction and in the interior decorating. The view from the upstairs BR balcony was expansive and inspiring. Felt so gently held and nurtured by the lovely home. And afterword, we discovered that the owner is very good friends with one of our close friends! Ha! Small world...

This is a nice, comfortable vacation rental. It was so much more spacious than the pictures showed, and was one of the nicest VRBO rentals we have stayed in, which made for a very special Christmas getaway. It seemed that everything a guest would want was thought of. The beautiful kitchen was perfectly stocked for any cooking you would want to do. We spent a lot of time upstairs looking at the view of the Albion bridge, cove, and the amazing garden yard. It was a short, beautiful drive to Mendocino and a great home base to explore Big River park, the beaches, Botanical Gardens etc. We hope to return soon.

Alison was wonderful, very accommodating and responsive. The house is immaculate and has an awesome kitchen. We stayed inside an entire day, visiting, knitting, playing games and cooking! Very peaceful and secluded neighborhood. We did miss watching the chick flicks that we brought, there is no TV. We got over it but our husbands would not have been able to handle no television.

My husband and I stayed here recently with our small dog and the house was perfect for our needs. Would have worked well if we had another couple with us, too. The kitchen is more than well equipped and the radiant heat floors were glorious on the chilly mornings. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I took a vacation for our first year anniversary. We found this gem of a house along US 1 on the Pacific coast. We were there 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed everything about this house and it's location. The host was responsive and everything was just as described in the listing. I was sorry to check out. It had a dream kitchen, comfy beds, and both showers and bathtubs. We even found time to relax and work a puzzle together after a day of hiking and exploring this area. I would return here in the future and highly recommend this house and its host.

We thoroughly enjoy staying at Bridge House when we visit Mendocino Coast

Great place from which to venture out.
Suggestion for owner: window coverings on the side facing the Bridge are not adequate to keep out the glare from cars traveling across bridge or into camp ground below.

This is a really lovely, appointed house and property and in a convenient location. The house is kept up and has everything you need. Very clean. The gardens surrounding the house are beautifully planned and gorgeous with some fascinating plants. Would highly recommend this place. Oh, and try the Ledford House for some great food nearby.+++

This was my first time with VRBO and it did not disappoint. This house is gorgeous. It was in a quiet location near great restaurants and an easy drive into Mendocino or Fort Bragg. The house was extremely clean and our host was great and very helpful. I will mark this an annual stay every summer!

My spouse and I had a great time staying here with our dog.
Very comfortable and relaxing place. We were just three of us, dog included, and there house was very roomy for us. Quiet, and close to amenities like grocery and wonderful restaurants.
The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and all the workings. All appliances worked quite well. The microwave is a bit small, but quite manageable for re-heating small portions - and that is what we used it for.
The patio is great to sit and have coffee and relax watching the bridge and the limited ocean view underneath the bridge.
No TV - but we didn't want one, we spent the evenings after dinner reading books and drinking wine.
Thank Alison and Bridge House for a great vacation stay!

It was perfect for a family get together. We made meals in the well supplied kitchen, relaxed and played games in the comfortable living room, went in numerous hikes, and enjoyed the ocean. The bedrooms are quaint, beds are comfortable, and fun to soak in the old fashioned bathtubs. The home is in a quiet neighborhood and well situated for exploring the beautiful surrounding areas of Mendocino. Will come again!

This gorgeous and welcoming home was a delightful stay. So many sweet details, super clean and great location for exploring the Mendocino coast. Stayed here for spring break with my two little ones and had an excellent time. The owners are also so responsive and helpful. Highly recommend this great house - so many little touches, very clean, and everything you need for a fun week in Mendocino. We’ll be back!

This is a unique and charming house that is well located for exploring the surrounding Mendocino area. Our family loved this house and all the charming and cozy touches. We enjoyed the view and the layout was very convenient with our 10 and 6 year olds sleeping upstairs in their own space. We'd definitely come back here again for future vacations.

Very enjoyable house with great kitchen and communal living space. The floor in the upstairs bedroom could use a little work, but overall was part of the charm

The Bridge House exceeded our expectations. My mom, who is 92, and I spent a week here in Albion and the Bridge House was perfect. The place itself is beautiful, it's in a fabulous location, just 8-10 minutes from Mendocino. The Albion Store is a short walk away and you can get anything you may have forgotten.Alison, the owner, was super helpful. She responded extremely quickly to any of my questions. And, as someone who loves to cook, and because this was a COVID vacation, we cooked alot. The kitchen is stocked with everything a chef could want - from great knives to iron skillet pans, to tea pots, fabulous dishwater etc.We loved our time here and can't wait to come back. For my Mom, who uses a walker, and couldn't have a bedroom upstairs, this was the perfect house with a bedroom on the first floor with adjacent bath, and my room upstairs. The place is beautifully decorated. Thank you Alison for welcoming us here. We'll be back! And will be recommending it to friends in the Bay Area and beyond.

We really enjoyed our 9 year anniversary at this property. It was clean, well kept, and had beautiful touches throughout the house. The clawfoot tubs, tall ceilings, etc, it was all so beautiful. Our golden retriever loved the upstairs balcony. She would watch the cars on the bridge, the cows in the fields, and the families in the campsites below. Overall, it was a lovely place to stay.
