About this house rental
Ideal location with unobstructed views of the Ocean, just 10 steps to the Beach!.
This is the perfect place for families to come together and enjoy the beach!
This pet friendly house sits on a double lot with car access on one side and beach access on the other side. There is plenty of parking for cars, boat, or RV.
This home has Wifi, washer/dryer, and ceiling fans throughout the home. Linens and towels are not provided, so please inquire if you would like to rent from us.
This house was built by Walter Lang in the 1930's and is one of only two houses still remaining from that era. It has been remodeled over the years and has recently had a face lift with some updating and decorating, but you still get the atmosphere of the bygone days.
The second floor is light and bright with a well appointed kitchen with lots of cabinets and storage space. There is also a round table that seats four for quick breakfasts when you don't feel like using the dining area. A second refrigerator is located just off the kitchen.
The living/dining area is very large and spacious with comfortable seating to enjoy the fantastic ocean views! Plus, there is a flat screen TV with DVD player. The dining area has a large table that seats eight. The old wood paneling is still in evidence coupled with freshly painted walls in beach blues. There are windows on three sides, so it is light and bright! But, the views certainly take center stage!
There are two bedrooms on this floor. One bedroom has two twin beds. The other bedroom has a queen bed and connects to a newly remodeled bathroom with double vanity and tub/shower combination. This bathroom can also be accessed from the kitchen area.
On the north side of the living room is a wonderful large deck with sofas and chairs to sit back and enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The late afternoon breezes make this the perfect spot to curl up with a good book, afterall this is what vacation is all about!
Downstairs are two additional bedrooms. One bedroom has a Full bed. The second bedroom has a king bed and flat screen TV. All the rooms have been freshly painted and while still rustic and quaint, they are bright and cheery!
Next to the stairwell is a half bath and twin bed. There is an additional small bathroom on this floor with a walk-in shower and vanity.
Best of all on this level is a large bonus room! It has four twin beds and a sofa. It is the perfect place for the kids to hang out, watch a movie on yet another large flat screen TV or play cards, do puzzles etc. They even have their own full size refrigerator to stock and also a microwave to get that popcorn popping!
The house is located across a public sand road from the beach. The beach walkover is just steps away, and then your toes are in the sand! When you return from the beach, there is an outside shower to rinse the sand off before entering the house.
We are sure you will fall in love with this beach house! You will enjoy the quaintness and old world atmosphere of an earlier era while still enjoying the comforts of modern day living! Plus, the ocean breezes and beautiful views will make you want to come back again and again!

Prefect location

Apparent effort has been made to update this older cottage. The historic space is quaint and the location is wonderful. However, floors and walls are crooked and sloped. The “wall” between the upstairs bedrooms is an extremely thin board that offers little privacy. As mentioned in other reviews the lack of complimentary linens is annoying, antiquated, and comes off as “cheap” to the guest. Furniture, appliances, and decor are basic and old but mostly functional. The downstairs den area is a good place for children to play and sleep. The living space is large enough to fit several people.

This property was exactly as advertised! So spacious and steps away from the beach!! We will be back again without a doubt!

See, hear, and walk to the ocean! Plenty of beach toys for the kids, chairs for the adults. Plenty of room for kids to spread out inside. Kitchen has all the tools you need. Rustic inside and out...a big beach cottage for a terrific beach vacation.

Older home but clean. Good location. Nice sunrises every day from deck.

Lee was very helpful and responsive. The house had plenty of room and was right on the ocean. We loved our stay!

The house is in a great location. It’s big, so our group wasn’t on top of each other. House has interesting history.
The place is not well cared for. Three dining chairs broke, the outside furniture is not as pictured, it is dirty white plastic lounge chairs and wobbly tall pvc chairs. We found dirty dishes in the cabinet & dirty flatware. We washed everything before we used it. A kitchen cabinet door fell off, the dryer stopped working while we were there. The outside stairs leading to top floor aren’t sturdy.
The carpet looks new, but we spent the week pulling sand spurs out of it.

I really enjoyed the area. Great location, great view of the beach from the deck, great yard. House was well equipped for family time and dinners together. Beds mattresses were too soft and not very comfortable.

My family and I really enjoyed our week at the beach. This house had plenty of space for everyone! Easy walk close to the beach. Lots of parking. Would definitely stay here again!

Military kids returned from European tour of duty after 4 years with new grandson- a beach vacation was in order for the 8 of us. This house was perfect!! Location could not have been better. Sure the house is dated but suitable for our needs. My only recommendation would be to bring your favorite pillows - and remember these are vacation mattresses- not the best.

We had a great stay at this home- the location just can’t be beat! The views from the living room are outstanding and we loved having lunch on the porch overlooking the ocean. We had plenty of space with beds to spare for our family of six.
This is an older home so there are some quirks (uneven floors, ext) but we thought this made the home charming. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to make meals, plenty of space to spread our, and our kids enjoyed the puzzles and games.
Would absolutely stay again! Communication with the property manager was excellent and check in/out was a breeze.

Very enjoyable
3.0
Overall our stay at the property was enjoyable, but only because of the company we were with and location of the property. If I was reviewing based solely on the condition of the house I'd have rated it much lower.
Pros:
-Location! It was pretty amazing to be right across a sandy road to the beach. You could hear the waves and it was lovely.
-Space, the house was roomy enough for our family of 10 and we were able to fix a turkey dinner and seat everyone at the table. There was plenty of parking for our cars.
-Our family loved the puzzles and games provided at the house.
Cons:
-DIRTY house. The carpet smelled bad upstairs, felt tacky underfoot and left your feet brown if you walked around barefoot in the house. The carpet in the rec room downstairs smelled like urine. The bathroom downstairs had a visible gross hair clog in the sink, and the shower curtain was covered in mildew along the bottom. The upstairs bathroom also had mildew. I had to clean surfaces in the kitchen myself and just about every piece of serving ware and cookware in the cabinets needed to be cleaned before it could be used. Found a dead cockroach in the dishwasher.
-Inaccurate listing on both VRBO & their website. The second bedroom downstairs has a FULL bed, not a queen. Lee clarified this when I requested the linens and I was surprised and disappointed- we had based booking this rental on the fact that it had two queens and a king. If I had known it was a full, we probably would have rented elsewhere. Luckily the couple that had that room weren't big people.
-Linen & towel rental. This is such an outdated and odd policy. I had asked for them in our initial response and never received a reply. Then had to ask them last minute because there was no confirmation of renting linens & towels. BTW, the linens and towels aren't great quality either. Synthetic sheets and mismatched towels.
In sum, I wouldn’t stay here again unless they deep cleaned the house, hired a new cleaning service and replaced the carpets. When plugging in a phone charger I saw how much dust and dirt was hiding behind the bed and it was gross. I get that it’s an old house, and the floors and walls are crooked and all that is fine and expected with a house that was built in the 30’s, but I don’t see any excuse for a dirty house. It had the feel of a college party house and that was a big bummer for our family.

We stayed in this house with group of friends and our young kids. It was a perfect location to downtown and had the easiest walk to the beach. The kids loved the big room downstairs and we enjoyed the big room upstairs that overlooked the ocean. The house had all the space we needed. Lee was easy to communicate with when planning the trip. I would definitely recommend this house.

Location very good with great access to beach. House is rustic and needs updating, but overall stay with family together was good. Be aware you have to rent towels and sheets or bring your own.

Perfect
The house was absolutely perfect for our family of 8 adults and 4 kids. The downstairs area with 4 beds was so ideal for my grandkids, ages 4-10.
It was a fully furnished home, with everything you could possibly need.
The proximity to the beach was a blessing. Our part of the beach was never crowded.
Stores and restaurants were close. The quaint downtown area was also close, and well worth visiting.
Lightning struck our television. Lee was very responsive, and showed up with a new TV.
We had a great family vacation, and would love to go back to such a “homey” home.

Close to the beach, with easy access. Plenty of room for family. Interesting heritage on the house. Saw many of the island Gopher Tortoises.

Great Thanksgiving Vacation!
We spent a wonderful week in Fernandina Beach. The location of the house couldn't be better, steps away from the beautiful beach and the view was amazing. The house accommodated our group of 9 easily with plenty of beds to spare. There was also plenty of room to allow the teenagers in our group to have their own space. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed to make Thanksgiving dinner and nine of us sat at the big table comfortably. Downtown Fernandina Beach, if you have never been, is a great place with lots of restaurants, craft breweries and unusual shops and boutiques. We had a great vacation making memories with close friends and family, playing board games in the evening and searching for sharks teeth on the beach.

Great view!
We had a lovely time on our vacation! The view from our room was great and we really enjoyed the living room furniture! The only flaw was the washing machine and dryer were in the master bedroom. There was a door, but I still could not run it while someone was napping or sleeping in there. Over all we had a really good stay!

Beach Weekend with Family
We had the best time at this beach house on Amelia Island with our kids and grandkids! The location is perfect! It's off the road so we don't have to worry about the little ones getting too close to the street. The view is amazing from the large and open second floor living area. And the beach is just a few steps away through the dunes! We are already planning to go back next year!

Perfect for our dogs.
We enjoyed our stay. It’s in a great location, roomy and plenty of room for our 2 labs. We would rent this place again.

Perfect Dog Friendly Beach House
We have a 5 month old puppy and were looking for a dog friendly place on the beach. This house has some miles on it but everything works and the views are amazing. It was just us and another couple but the house is big enough to accommodate a large gathering (2 families). Beach access couldn't be easier, short drive to all the restaurants. Every day we'd walk the half mile down the beach to The Sandbar & Kitchen with the dog. Plenty of beach chairs and gear provided. A bit rustic but perfect for what we wanted.

Beautiful wedding weekend
My now husband and I stayed here with our bridal party the week of our wedding. Our friends and family LOVED it. We had an amazing relaxing week by the beach. I only wish there would have been room in the guestbook.

Great location
Older house, not fancy, plenty of parking for large family. Had an AC problem that was fixed the same day. This is our 4th time to rent here, and we will come again. We love the large upstairs living room. Floor to ceiling windows look out to the ocean while the whole family eats and plays games. It's just comfortable.

Cute north beach property
We loved the house and particularly its character (older but renovated house), it’s three refrigerators (the mommas liked that a lot - less time at the grocery store, more time on the sand), and the 2nd floor spacious family room that’s positioned perfectly to look over the dunes to the ocean! The house is right at the dunes, so getting to the beach was a breeze. It was plenty of space for our two families to spread out (11 total plus two Labrador dogs), and the detached shed made nice covered storage for all the bikes and paddle boards. The dads liked the ample parking (3 large vehicles) and the charcoal grill, also. We had minor maintenance items arise and the owner was highly responsive and was on site within hours. Overall a great week at the beach, would highly recommend!

Same Time Next Year
We have vacationed at Fernandina Beach for 9 years. As our extended family has grown we moved from renting one beachfront condo to two, but missed the togetherness. This house was the perfect rental!
The property could be described as shabby chic - clean, beautifully decorated with coordinating bedspreads and furniture throughout, Old Florida atmosphere. Charming. It is one of the oldest homes on the beach with an interesting history. Views from the upstairs living room and deck are private and perfect for viewing glorious sunrises.
It was hard to leave after a memorable week, but we secured our dates for “same time next year” as we start a new family tradition.

Spending the night with a friend
To stay in the house, 634 N. Fletcher was like spending the night with a friend. This house is so much like home, too. All the history of the house, the different phases it has passed through, being together, yet having privacy make for a great experience. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal. The air conditioning works great. The water pressure is good. It's close to the beach.
We made memories for a lifetime here. We will be back.

Ocean Escape
Our family had a great adventure by the ocean. The house accomadated 6 teens and 3 adults with plenty of extra room. Outstanding ocean view from the deck and living room. The beach is so close that a trip back to the house was no big deal. We appreciated all the spices left by other renters and the stock of beach supplies in the back of the house. The kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, plates, glasses, and bowls. We did not need anything for the kitchen. Great idea in kitchen...double refidgerators with freezers. The washer and drier were perfect for our large crew. In addition, the owner answered our questions in a timely manner. I would definately recommend this house to any family looking for an ocean escape.

Loved seeing the sunrise every morning and walking on the beach. The house had everything we needed. Hated to leave

Nostalgic.
We loved the property. It felt like "old Florida". The floors are a little tricky with the roll they have to them, but I think that's to be expected in a property as old as this. There were 10 of us and there was plenty of room for everyone to have space. All in all, a great experience!

Nice Summer vacation
We all loved the history of the house and the easy access to Fort Clinch and the Beach.
There was plenty of room and the kids loved the big room down stairs with their own
personal refrigerator and big screen.
Enjoyed It.
