About this house rental

Take the ferry or plane from Charlevoix to experience island paradise. A vintage vacation awaits you. Beaver Island, 32 miles offshore from the mainland of northern Michigan. Unspoiled. Unhurried. Unbelievable! The island is 55 square miles of gravel roads and rustic beauty. When you come to the island, you are getting away from the conveniences that city life offers and enjoying the benefits and beauty of the natural world.
Sunny Oaks Cottage has everything one could want or need to enjoy a vacation on Beaver Island. The lovely home is located on the north end of the island. It is a very short walk to the harbor area, town and restaurants. The public beach is about a 10-minute walk. The chalet style cottage is a beautiful, bright and comfortable two-story home that sleeps 6 people. The sun pours in the front windows in the morning and the breeze flows thru the house all day. You will be so happy that you chose to stay at Sunny Oaks Cottage for your vacation to the island.

The main floor has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There is one full bath in the house. The spacious upstairs loft has a queen bed. There is a smart TV to log in and stream your online accounts, we do not have cable.

The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dish washer, microwave and laundry room. It is open to the living room and the large front deck so the cook can always be a part of the fun, wherever it is happening. Enjoy the open front porch, screened side porch and large yard. Fire pit and gas grill for use on the property and a bag toss game.

I do recommend having a car to explore the island. Contact bibco.com (Beaver Island Boat Company) for ferry schedule and rates. You can bring your car over on the ferry and will need to make a reservation for it. They start taking reservations in January and summer dates fill up quickly as there is limited space for cars. Another option is to
rent a car on the island. There are 2 places for car rental. Burton Auto Rentals. Call ahead for a reservation. 231 838-2883 or Duffy's rentals 231 448-3131. Keep in mind these are not rental companies but families who are renting out vehicles. It is very difficult to maintain a clean car on an island of dusty gravel roads.
The island is 13 miles long and 6 miles wide. If you are content in walking and relaxing in town, you will still have an enjoyable time. You can rent bikes, kayaks or paddle boards in town by the public beach to enjoy the beautiful clear water.

There are online videos and articles about the island history. You may have a richer experience if you spend some time looking at the interesting info that is online. Life slows down here and restores your soul. You can follow my Instagram account @Becca Foli Photos to see pictures of the island year-round.

Make Sunny Oaks your home when you visit Beaver Island. We look forward to having you as our guest. Let the adventure begin!

This home is very nice, clean, and in a great location. My only complaints are that we didn’t realize it didn’t have air conditioning (but it was pleasant in September with the windows open) and the fridge was very hard to open. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend this home.

We had a great weekend on the Island , Thanks to Becca and Bryan and all of their tips on where and how to spend our time! The location is great! Within a short walking distance to town and yet you have your own little oasis right at home. We had a campfire one night which was lovely for star gazing and the house was very nice and comfortable for the four of us adults. We loved all of it! Thank you Bryan and Becca
