About this house rental
McCaskill Cottage
Charming, circa 1905, 'McCaskill Cottage' is located in the heart of Old Town. You will not need a car to go out for drinks and dinner or local shopping. The Carolina Hotel and Spa and the Pine Crest Inn are just one block away, and its only two blocks to the fine Village restaurants. A leisurely five block walk takes you to Pinehurst Country Club and its dining and golf facilities. .
McCaskill Cottage is beautifully decorated with tasteful wall and window coverings and paintings. The floors are the original 'heart pine' with occasional oriental carpets. An exquisite dining room with chandelier opens into an updated, well provisioned eclectic kitchen with island, a fun gathering place for preparing gourmet meals. There are Mexican tile floors in the kitchen which extend into the pantry and laundry room, and into a private wi-fi office overlooking the screened porch and swimming pool. Four bedrooms with antique colonial beds and furnishings provide comfortable sleeping for all.
The property has large well landscaped grounds with three porches: a covered veranda in front, an open porch with pergola on the south side, and a large screened porch in the rear. The gardens have antique brick paths weaving through several arbors and gazebos with numerous rhododendrons, azaleas, dogwoods, nandinas and flowers of all types. The beautiful and private in-ground swimming pool overlooks a grape arbor which serves as the portal to the back yard recreation area where guests can enjoy ping pong or horseshoes and a sand box for kids.

House was in a perfect location. 5-10 min walk to Pinehurst Spa, Carolina Inn, and the wonderful Pinehurst Village. House was older but well maintained. It was welcoming and had room for us all. Pool was nice too. Thank you. Everyone else staying here, enjoy.

Great location, neat place, and great setup w
Pool and backs yard. Only drawback was only 2 bathrooms which is how houses were built back then but we managed fine.

Safety Issues: electrical system not upgraded to accommodate modern electrical needs; some plug extenders and extension cords in the house were outdated; electric lamp wires connected with electrition’s tape rather than hardwired; Gas stove filled the house with fumes when we tried to use the oven; Cockroaches in the kitchen and dining room; Grime on light switches, cabinet pulls, door knobs, and kitchen garbage area; front gate pathway tripping hazard-loose raised bricks; double bolt lock door from house to screened in porch had no key and therefore no security; house smelled of mold when we used the heating system-appeared to be possible black mold on floor registers; screened in porch furniture had broken wicker strands and mold; metal dining set in screened in porch had layers of chipped paint; hot and cold mixer in lower bath tub was very hard to adjust; towel hook in lower bath fell off the wall when used; no Co2 monitors were found; upstairs hairdryer switch was broken. Ping pong, horseshoes, and bikes were advertised-there was a ping pong table but no paddles or balls were found; there were horseshoes, but no stakes were found, did not see any bikes. Called the number listed by the front door to ask a question, left a message, no one called back. I called VRBO when I got home and-they said I should call the owner to discuss the above mentioned safety issues and that person yelled, swore and told me if I wrote a bad review she would sue.

Stayed here with husband and friends to celebrate my 60th birthday, and I had an absolutely fabulous time. Brought our two small dogs with us and they loved walking around the neighborhood and the village Arboretum. The pool was very very nice as were the accommodations. I would highly recommend this location.

There were so many positives to this house and visit! The cottage was tidy and had everything you might find that you need. The pool and screened in porch made our stay fun and relaxing. The proximity to the village and the Pinehurst main resort make this spot excellent!

Stayed at this home and was immediately impressed with it. It is an older home but to us just adds to the charm. Air conditioning worked great. Pool was a huge plus. It has everything you need. So close to the village it's easy to walk anywhere. Pinehurst brewing, Dugans, Drum and Quill, Pine crest Inn. Even the golf courses.
Couldn't have had a better time or location.

Great location and very clean. Could use updating throughout, more tv locations and only two baths is not ideal. Enjoyed the visit!

This cottage is in a great location. Once we got back from golf, we relaxed either by the pool or on the front porch then walked into town for dinner and drinks. Made it so easy! One bedroom and bathroom is on the first floor with three bedrooms and one bath on second floor. The house could use some updating but otherwise very cute and worked well for our group of four.

Just what you would expect for a 100 year old cottage. House has some wear, especially outside, but overall it was as expected…quiet, charming and quaint. The pool was fabulous and much needed in the Carolina heat and humidity. We would definitely stay again!

We Will Be Back!!
The house is old and it was honestly our favorite part. I was reminded of my great grandmother's house and it was so relaxing.
The house was very clean and the location was PERFECT! We walked to town for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it was great!! Can't recommend a property more! We will be back!

A Real Treasure
40 Caddell is the ideal way to live the authentic Pinehurst experience. The close proximity to the heart of the village, the swimming pool, the covered porch, and the fully equipped kitchen made it the perfect place to reconnect with old friends. We hope to return annually.

We had a magical Christmas stay!
The house was beautifully decorated and it felt like Christmas in every room! We were fortunate to have room for our dog and he loved exploring the yard. We truly enjoyed our time at the home and were very comfortable. The village is also quaint and lovely. We walked it every day and found fantastic places for dining and drinks.

As Advertised
The house is as advertised. Its an older home which the kitchen, bathroom could benefit being updated along with a larger TV but it met our needs. We were four men on a business children's charity golf event. Two of the bedrooms are twin beds, which we have not slept in a twin since college. Two rolled off their beds. House is very walkable to the restaurants and shops. We would stay here again.

Perfect.
Beautiful house. We barely used it except for sleeping as we were here on conference at the Carolina Hotel and were busy. Perfect spot. Every room we went in was very nicely decorated. It will bring my wife back here.

This property was just as I expected. It’s an old home but clean. It worked great for us. The pool and screened in porch was a hit with all of us. From daily swims to a midnight swim one night the pool was perfect. The groundskeeper Mr Larry was wonderful. He checked in with us and was willing to help us out with any needs. We would love to visit again sometime.
