About this house rental
Crested Butte vacation rental/ business license #001394
A former bed and breakfast, our spacious home is a wonderful Crested Butte retreat in the perfect walkable location.
The house is on the sunny side of town; in a residential neighborhood, two blocks to Elk Street shopping and dining, two blocks to Crested Butte town park/playground and the Performing Arts Center, and one block to Rainbow Park/playground and the Recreation Path. Ride to lower trails in 5 minutes. The house is located one block to the Visitor Center and the free shuttle bus stop, which circulates through town and runs to the ski resort and three blocks to the town grocery store.
The house is set up as follows:
Downstairs has three bedrooms, all with en suite baths. Two of these bedrooms have queen beds, one has two full over full bunk beds. Also downstairs is a game room with a large screen tv, an x-box 360, many board games and a queen size futon; entryway/mudroom and laundry with oversized machines and sink for outdoor gear.
Upstairs is the main living space with very large, open concept kitchen, dining, living areas, as well as a pantry and powder room. This is one of the only houses within Crested Butte town with large gathering spaces. Kitchen is fully equipped to cook for a crowd (two refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves and ovens; platters, large pots, etc.) and there is dining space and tableware for 18. The living room has plenty of seating and another large screen tv with a dvd player and surround system for movies or your ipod. A large bedroom (with queen bed and walk-in closet) and smaller office/bedroom with queen bed are separated from the living space by french doors and share a large master bath. The office comes equipped with a chromebook laptop and a laser printer as well as internet and wifi. The office has a large walk-in closet. The final bedroom is an externally accessed Queen bedroom under the North deck - it has its own bathroom (with shower, no tub) sink, mini-refrigerator and coffee maker.
The house also has a two-car garage with bike storage, a wrap around porch and a large yard. There is on site parking for up to five cars- the town requests utilizing these spaces first.
When we renovated this house, we did it with our own family and visitors in mind. There is lots of space to spread out and enjoy each other or have some privacy. We have kids' toys and dishes, a portacrib, spare twin sized floor mattress, a high chair, 2 townie bikes, a double bike trailer and a dog crate, bowls and leashes. Please note that primary renters must be over 25.
*** Please note! While this is a great house for a large group or family - it is very much in a town neighborhood and the town is extremely sensitive to any disturbances by short term renters. Three complaints about any one property will render the house ineligible for rent - so please be good neighbors and no outside noise after 9 pm. Thank you!***

I have been going to CB for several years to visit my son and his family. When other fam and friends go I always get a house. Most are good but this one far exceeded any other rental.
The floor plan, the kitchen, the cleanliness, and the outdoor space was great. The location was perfect, 2 block walk to downtown.
We all had a grand time!

We were excited about the Grey Lady from the description, but it was all that and more. The home itself was well appointed, wifi worked great, and almost all of the bedrooms had ensuite baths. The main streets of Crested Butte are three blocks away and the shuttle worked beautifully; we really didn't need a car.
Can't say enough good things about it.

One of the better VRBO’s I’ve stayed at. Location is great, easy to town and to bus to get up to the ski hill. Clean, comfortable beds and common areas, zero complaints.

Wonderful stay in the Gray Lady with all sorts of weather from sunny and 50 to 0 and 18 inches of snow. Property can accommodate everything! Spacious, clean and outfitted with every possible need. Would highly recommend for large groups.

We loved Elizabeth’s place and the location. Would highly recommend it for larger groups!

The photos do not do the house justice. The deck areas in particular are under represented on the online photos.
Perfect walking distance to downtown shops and cafes. Walkable to the public transportation stop.
The house was large enough that multiple families could stay, but still have their own space. Great layout. Lovely.

Enjoyed our stay in Crested Butte. The house is a 3-5 minute to town. The house was full of amenities and we were never without.

Our stay at the Grey Lady was nothing short of perfection. We had a large group of multiple families and ages. The house felt cozy but we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. We all had our own space. There are so many thoughtful touches that make this home a truly enjoyable stay. From make up wipes in all the bathrooms to the fully stocked kitchen with 2 dishwashers, 2 microwaves, and 2 fridges! The owners were incredibly responsive to our communication, which was just us asking for clarification on setting the trash out. They made us feel welcome and genuinely wanted to be sure our stay was lovely. And it was. We highly recommend this property, wonderfully located in the best spot to walk to main street or catch a bus to the mountains. Thank you so much, we will be back!

We stayed in this property with a large group of friends, and the house could not have been more accommodating. The number of bedrooms and full bathrooms was perfect for the size of group we had (10 people), and the spacious living/dining/kitchen area was absolutely perfect for our needs. The kitchen was fully stocked as advertised, and was very accommodating for large groups with 2 dishwashers, 2 refrigerators, and 2 microwaves. Would absolutely stay again, and would recommend the house to any one searching for a place to accommodate a group of friends!

The house is beautiful and in a prime location, walkable to everything. It was great for our large group, especially because almost all of the bedrooms have their own bathroom. Property management and owner were both super responsive and accommodating. Would recommend this vacation rental!

Awesome house for a large group. The location is great, plenty of space and privacy for everyone. Communications were excellent and the house was as advertised. The kitchen is well stocked and set up to cook and feed a large group. We had another group of friends staying down the street from us and the Grey Lady became the go-to spot for evening meals, games and recapping the days events!

This was our second summer to rent the Gray Lady for a 2 week stay. We loved it last year amd decided “why change”?
In addition to the overly stocked, clean and perfect layout of the house, we love that we can bike almost anywhere we wanted to go. Yoga at the community center and Pickle Ball in town we’re two new activities we enjoyed that weren’t available last year. The owners and house manager are top notch. If the tiniest thing is needed, they are on top of it ASAP. We will continue to rent here on our next visits.for sure !!

The property was plenty for my wife and I plus 4 college age girls. The bikes were a savior and the location was perfect to access the town and parks with a short walk.

Everything was perfect: the house has everything you need for your trip plus is the PERFECT location. We could walk easily to shuttle stop or walk right into town. The house set up is great for kids and adults to share...room for all! Our trip was amazing because this house and property owner. Can’t wait to come back!

This is a perfect house for larger groups, enough rooms and bathrooms, close to activities in Crested Butte, close to bus stop for access to the mountain. The house is clean and very functional. The property owner is easy to deal with and very responsive! We have been coming annually to Crested Butte for 15 years. This is our favorite spot with a really high value for what it provides.

What a perfect place to spend the week of Thanksgiving! The house is so spacious and perfectly located. A quick walk to the park and bike path is in one direction, with downtown in the other. The bedrooms are all very nice and the bonus of having a bathroom attached to each was really appreciated. The kitchen is amazing - it's so well stocked that even for a big Thanksgiving meal, we had everything we could possibly need plus more! Although we had a small family group of 6 (plus one dog) because of Covid, the house can accommodate many more very comfortably. We also really loved the large common spaces, with the option of other quieter areas for those who needed to work. We felt so lucky to have found this mountain oasis in the midst of such a crazy year!

The house was in a great location for our visit. We were there for a wedding. As for the house, it was good, but a little underwhelming. It could have been cleaned better before our arrival. The bedrooms are stark...Mattresses on frames with no headboards and very little other furniture. The kitchen was well stocked, and the upstairs den was comfortable. It is an easy walk to Elk street for the shops, restaurants and bars. The location is the best thing about the house.

We were looking for an escape from the Boulder bubble to work remotely for a week (because. COVID), and were very excited to find The Grey Lady house. The location: perfectly positioned in downtown Crested Butte. If you want to walk or bike around town, this is the house for you. We loved being able to wander downtown (or bike using the available townies) after work each day. The amenities: super clean, super cozy, and a perfect house for four adults to spread out and work/relax. The kitchen is fully stocked (we cooked a LOT), and the living space is wonderful. The outdoor balcony with grill was a perfect spot for morning coffee and pre-dinner drinks. The front balcony and cosy seats were a prime spot for mid-morning or afternoon conference calls (perfect fall sun). The property management: we noted a minor plumbing issue, and wanted to share this feedback before future guests arrived and the property manager was on it! :) All in all - The Grey Lady is fantastic home and we would love to come back in the winter!

Our stay at this home was absolutely perfect. Communication with both the owner and manager was prompt. There was space for everyone to spread out, but then we could gather together for meals inside at the large table or on the large balcony. I appreciated being able to use the washing machine and dryer. My son really enjoyed the toys and playing all of the board and card games! We will for sure stay here again!

We had a fantastic time staying at The Gray Lady this past weekend. There was lots of space, it was very clean, and the house was equipped with everything we needed and much more! It was also incredibly convenient to get to the shuttle to take us up to the mountain and the walk downtown was a breeze. We would absolutely stay here again!

We stayed for two weeks this past August with our two kids. It was amazing! The home had everything we needed, including toys and books for the kids. The home is very well done, super clean, and very cozy. We could not have asked for a better trip! Thank you!

Some friends and I stayed here during shoulder season and the home was great... quick walk to Elk Avenue, plenty of lounging and sleeping space, clean, double dishwashers, double fridges. Definitely a place I'd consider using again if visiting CB with a decent sized group.

We have been going to CB since the 80's. This was our first time at this property. It has been our favorite so far. In the summer, you are one block from an awesome park, a few blocks from all of our favorite restaurants, and it's just incredible to be situated right in town. We have normally stayed up on the mountain or down around the golf course/Riverbend on all of our previous trips. The convenience of being in town trumps all of our other stays. There is no place more beautiful in the summer than CB. Can't wait to come back and stay again at this wonderful home.
