Sabbatical has a prime Seaside location directly across from the beach at West Ruskin Pavilion and one block to downtown Seaside with over 35 shops and restaurants just steps from your front door. Arrive at a private driveway and parking in front and you are greeted by two expansive open-air porches that run the length of the home both up and down. The first-floor open-air porch has a cushioned bench swing and additional Adirondack seating for two more, the perform morning coffee spot while you listen to the waves crash from your front porch.
Step inside to the elegant and classically inspired arched doorways and vaulted ceilings, Sabbatical will simply delight! Meander inside where you are welcomed by the downstairs formal living room with ample seating for many throughout, a large flat-screen Apple TV, and a queen sleeper sofa. On the first floor, you will find two queen bedrooms each with their own ensuite private bathrooms. The first queen bedroom has a corner-mounted private flat-screen TV and a just renovated private bathroom with a single vanity and a glass-enclosed walk-in shower. The second queen bedroom down features a private flat screen mounted TV and a private recently renovated bathroom with a single vanity and a glass-enclosed walk-in shower.
Head upstairs to the open combined main living areas and kitchen as well as the third king master suite retreat. The kitchen has been updated and features all stainless steel appliances throughout, a double oven and induction stove top, black sleek countertops, and breakfast bar seating for four. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining area for six that has access to the expansive open-air second-level porch that features gulf views from your balcony. The large open-air porch has two lounge seating areas and has amazing views of the West Ruskin Pavilion and the gulf. This is the perfect evening spot to watch the sunset and enjoy an evening cocktail from your front porch.

We have rented Sabbatical many times and Dreamboat once. All-in -all the condition of the property has been good. There was an issue with the leak in the closet in the downstairs left bedroom. The maintenance crew was quick to respond. There was still a drip, drip, drip sound after they left. The closet did not show any more water. Since the property is one of the oldest properties (Dreamboat icluded) plumbing issues, perhsps the owners need to think about taking on the expense of correcting the issue.

I am a single parent (widowed) with two children pre/early teens. The kids love the location and the "cool" house. The kitchen and dinning area opens up to the upstairs porch with Sonos sound, great for sitting, visiting, games, cocktails, etc. When you stay at Sabbatical, you may ask yourself Sabbatical or Serenity?

This lovely house has the ideal location for visiting Seaside and especially the Red Wine Festival being only 2 blocks away.
We were 6 adults ages 55 to 80 and the weird layout of the stairs in the entrance area was difficult to understand as to why it was designed in that manner as we have never seen anyplace like it and we are all in the real estate business. The only other issue was in the primary suite where the bathroom was tiny for such a huge bedroom suite and the claw tub in the center was unusable by older adults who would have to climb over to access the tub and the shower curtain surround was not practical at all and a safety hazard with no hand railing or bars.
We did have some trouble closing the doors to the upstairs porch which looks to just need realignment.
All other features were fine.

I'm not one to comment on service bc I think it should be what it is and I'm hesitant of a bias review, but Homeowner's Collection was on point with all communications and provided quick service to any issues that we had.

We had a great stay. The $200 Covid cleaning fee is a joke. There was a dirty coffee filter in the pot when we got there. We’ve been coming to seaside for 20 years; I did not think the house was any cleaner than normal. The shower control in one of the downstairs bathrooms didn’t work. A plumber came and it worked for one day. Homeowners personnel couldn’t be nicer. Unless the Covid cleaning fee is mandated, that should be dropped.

Sabbatical is a beautiful house with a great location, steps to the beach access and steps to the town center. The house’s location is so convenient and the second story porch has a great gulf view. However, there is constant music blaring from the traffic on 30a. This didn’t bother us as much during the day as we were rarely home, but kept us and our small kids up at night. The floor plan of the house is strange with a lot of stairs. The stair railings from the kitchen/dining room and the porches are an X pattern with large gaps that we were afraid our 1yo might get through. I would not recommend this house if you have small children, but if you don’t I would say the location of the house would more than make up for the above mentioned issues. We also had some problems with roaches during our stay. We raised the issue with a Homeowner’s Collection management, but they said there wasn’t much they could do while we were staying there. We have stayed in several different houses in Seaside over the years and Sabbatical has the best equipped kitchen, and most comfortable beds. The bathrooms for the downstairs rooms were spacious and nicely updated. The porches were wonderful and well furnished. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning to Sabbatical if our children were older.

The home sits parallel to 30A so it’s loud and you can here the cars and kids outside until late. Traffic is heavy on West Ruskin as cars turnaround in front of the home. The decor of the home is lovely and mostly up to date. It does has numerous levels of wooden stairs throughout the house. The master is upstairs and the kitchen and dining room is on the second level as well. So, it you have knee or hip problems, this lovely home is not for you.

Right across the street from the beach and 1 block from the Seaside square! Lovely home! We loved sitting out on the porches to enjoy the fresh air. House was very clean. Be aware that there are a lot of stairs. We took my in-laws and I didn't realize how many stairs there were so it was tough for them. Thank you for a great weekend!

Great house! Need a new coffee pot. The actual pot spout is on the side, not the front. Makes pouring almost impossible. Television in the master did not seem to be “connected.” Two very minor problems.

Sabbatical
Our stay in Sabbatical was amazing. We have taken our family to Seaside for over thirty years and have stayed in a different house every time. Sabbatical is one of our favorites. Not only is the house wonderful, the location is great as well. The house is very clean and updated. The upstairs kitchen and dining room was so enjoyable. We loved hanging out on the porch overlooking 30A with beautiful views of the gulf in the morning. And the master bedroom is huge. Plenty of space for our children and grandchildren!

A stay at Sabbatical was overall a nice experience. However, the dishes were dirty and the bathroom did not seem clean. Homeowner's had someone come and correct the problem almost immediately. The shower in one of the guest rooms was not working either but they did correct it. The space was adequate for our seemed a bit dirty all over and could use a good cleaning. But other than that it was fine but I would probably seek out another venue if we returned.

The house is so pretty, but really needs some TLC. There is rotting wood and rust patches. I had to Magic Eraser the walls, woodwork and stair risers upon moving in. :( I was told that they do it every week, but it just gets dirty again, so they quit. There were also several bulbs out throughout the house. We had initial trouble with our fridge and then the lights downstairs in the hall were not working. We were told that someone would come and fix the lights (it was not a bulb problem) and they never did. They also said that we would receive some credit for the problems and condition of the house, but we never did. I do love the house though and the location is wonderful. We had a great time!!!!

Another beautiful week in Seaside, we've been every year for the past 6 years. Sabbatical was clean, updated in terms of furnishings, decor and kitchen appointments. Primo location! I would definitely recommend this home. Homeowner's collection was very responsive and professional. We broke a bench during our stay and it was replaced before we left. HOCO also shipped a pair of shoes we left behind as well. My only critique is the "gotcha" of swim and fitness charges of $400 and reservations "processing fee" of $125, a "reserve fee" of $70 and an excessive departure cleaning fee $260. There was no mention of these add-ons up front and because of that lack of transparency, I'm disinclined to call this a "great value"... $800 is not a trivial sum to some folks...
