About this apartment rental
Relax on the balcony and enjoy one of the most beautiful view's on earth. It is such a beautiful spot that many weddings take place right across the street at Berwick Park. Enjoy taking a walk along the path along side the ocean. Monterey Aquarium and the Outlets are a five to ten-minute walk. (Holidays are 3 night minimum) I have a "Beach Gear" section in the gurst room closest. I have beach towels, boogie board, bucket & shovel, beach umbrella, beach bags, beach blankets. Enjoy the beach!
The Beach House is decorated by an Interior Designer and has a feeling of relaxation and comfort. It has a Nautical and Beach theme. It has wonderful thick Egyptian towels and high count sheets and linens. The electric towel warmer is great especially in the Winter months. The fireplace facing the oceanview is a perfect place to enjoy a book. It is a true place of relaxation.
It has a full kitchen with all of the latest equipment. If you cook, you can enjoy the best views in Monterey or if you go out, there are wonderful restaurants walking distance to Cannery Row.

We absolutely loved the location of this unit. Spectacular views of the ocean right across the street; nice park like setting with great walking paths. Close to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (owner offers 2 free passes)... we took a whale watching trip from the harbor... within 2 miles of the condo. Had a wonderful time with nice cool weather which we appreciated. Would definitely recommend this place.

Great spot.

The location of the property is great that's why we are disappointed that house is not clean. The sofa, dining chairs and pillows are old, dirty and stained. The bed in the master bedroom squeaks. The windows in the second bedroom has black mold. It would be a great place if they did a deep clean and update their stuff. Having the aquarium passes is a great perk as it allowed us to skip the long line.

Host, Sally, was kind and responsive to all our communications.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in a beautiful location. The kitchen is very well appointed. We enjoyed time on the balcony watching whales in the bay. We had a lot of fun playing games and cards at the dining table while enjoying the lovely view. I keep mentioning that view because it is spectacular! The home is conveniently located near grocery stores, Cannery Row and restaurants in the neighborhood. We highly recommend and hope to return for an extended stay. Thank you, Sally for sharing your beautiful home with us.

The location is amazing. The unit is very cluttered and feels lived in. The shower in the main bath had a major leak which sprayed water on everything in the bathroom. There was an exposed outlet that was for the garbage disposal thst didnt work so the sink would back up constantly. The windows were very dirty amd had bird poo on them. The couches were dirty. Again it feels like the owner just popped out for our stay and left all personal belongings. The location is amazing and we loved the area. The unit needs some TLC and deep cleaning.

Perfect location for us. We did the typical tourist items like 17 Mile Dr, wine tasting, the aquarium. Thank you Sally for the passes. We walked a lot and it was great. The view from the apartment was the best. I’m

Across the street from the ocean and a few minutes walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Plenty of safe parking- and free!
Sally was a fine hostess, easy access at the appointed time. The kitchen could use a second look though, the dishes, glasses, plates and mugs are worn out and mismatched and there wasn’t a decent knife to be found. That said, we still had a great time.

The beautiful view of Monterey Bay and the convenience of being able to easily walk to restaurants and Monterey attractions make this a great place to stay. Very comfortable too.

Monterey and Pacific Grove are gorgeous. This condo is wonderfully located, plus near the aquarium. The layout works well for 2 people or 2 couples. The kitchen is well-supplied,

Delightful property across from the water and pacific grove walkway. Walk to aquarium ( and 2 passes) or restaurants. Very personable home with many thoughtful conveniences

The description given as to what to expect in the home is false and misleading; the photos shown are very old. There was trash in the garden area. The “Beach Gear” section does have a boogie board, there was nothing else to label as “beach gear”. The closets were such a wreck with toilet paper, and disorganized “stuff” strewn across the floor, full of unfolded bedding piled up on the floor. Not sure if it was a pile of dirty laundry or not. There is so much clutter there is no where to place one’s things. "The Beach House is decorated by an Interior Designer" must have happened decades ago and since been overwrought by the owner and her hoarding. The sheets were very, very old, thin, and stained. None of the towels matched and all had stains. Decorative throw pillows had stains on them, the bed pillows in the guest room were very badly stained. The refrigerator had open containers of milk and half used dairy items. The floor was not clean, our socks provided evidence to that. Throw and area rugs are very dirty, heavily stained. There is a note from the owner on the toilet in the hall bathroom, “please hold handle down when flushing solid matter to prevent plugging”. Both shower curtains are dirty and torn. The rocking chair in the guest room was broken, the balcony chairs are falling apart, screws coming out, and paint badly chipped, other patio furniture is now very rusted. Lamps did not work, and extension cords everywhere with more notes from the owner to not unplug.

About 4 days before our stay, through VRBO, I asked about the check-in details. I received an irate reply from the owner that, first, I had pulled her out of the shower, and curtly that I would get the details 3 days before the stay.
We needed to check out a day early because my wife's back gave out. Wrote the owner asking if there was any refund for early check-out. Did not receive the courtesy of a reply.
Here are the condition problems that we encountered:
1. First night couldn't get the floor panel heat to work. Next day owner said use the electric fireplace. Turned it on to encounter a dust cloud.
2. Master shower: leaks at the shower head joint. Sprayed all over the bathroom.
3. Hall toilet: runs all the time.
4. Best for last: as I was loading the car, my wife went to sit down on the chair on the patio. It collapsed and she wrenched her knee. That was almost a week ago and it still hurts. We will see an orthopedist as soon as we can get an appointment.
We cleaned-up and are doubtful we will get out deposit -- if history with this owner proves correct.

There were 2 passes to the monterey bay aquairum which is a wonderful addition but we had already gone so weren't able to use them. This should be advertised.
Coffee was provided.
We loved eating breakfast on the deck out front with the amazing view.

We chose this home on short notice due to a change in plans. You can't beat the location...directly across from the water and trail system with outstanding views and within walking distance of most things you might need. The check in and check out process was super easy and the property manager responded to our queries promptly. The property was clean in general...kitchen, baths, floors, surfaces, etc. But as multiple previous reviews have indicated some things were just a bit off. Grimy coffee maker and dishwasher, musty smelling clothes washer are put offs for sure. Furniture is a little worn and stained here and there and sheets and towels were all mis-matched...also somewhat off putting. There are a lot of personal effects in this unit that we are unaccustomed to dealing with during VRBO stays, as other reviews have stated. Having said all that with just a little attention to these details this would be a 5 star property for us.

The condo is lovely , comfortable and beautifully decorated. The view of the ocean filled my soul with awesome gratitude and peace. Walking around town and popping into interesting places, canary row is always fun, lover’s point trail is a wonderful Oceanside walk and it’s right across the street. We had a ball!!

In a prime location, walkable to shops and restaurants, Sally’s beach house has a beautiful view and easy access to the coastal walking trail. Check-in and check-out are fast and easy.

Weather knocked our the internet, so we had to trek home to see the game, and miss our last day. The setting is beautiful, and the of TV really was not missed until Sunday :(

We loved the location. Couldn’t beat it. Absolutely beautiful views with full shore access, a walking path and walkable to restaurants and coffee shops.
However, it seemed so many things were broken…bedroom lamp, clothes dryer didn’t heat up, windows in master were broken so NO fresh air…had to prop the broken bathroom window open with a shampoo bottle…just overall the place was a bit on the funky side. At around 5:30 every morning the heater would start knocking loudly in the master like a diesel tractor idling, waking us up all 4 mornings of our stay. The place was not very clean and filled with personal clutter that made it difficult to put our things anywhere. Musty damp odor throughout which took a couple of days to air out, shower curtain needs changing which would help with odors. Maybe the house should be opened up and aired out prior to new guests arriving. Again, a lovely location but the owner might benefit from staying in other comparable properties to learn the standard and what’s normal for a VRBO rental of this caliber. Update the sheets and towels at the very least.

My family and I had a wonderful visit at this property. The location is fantastic and the property was very comfortable for the four of us to relax and enjoy ourselves. The pictures represented well the place. Perhaps our only suggestion would be to get some kind of hanging lamp over the dining room table for a little bit more light in the evening. But overall we had a delightful time!

Situated right on the ocean, with a fantastic view, this place is perfect to experience the Monterey area. Easy walk to the aquarium and Lover’s point, allowing you to chance to see seals & otters.

The apartment had all we needed for the week. The front balcony had great views of the park and water. Many places accessible on foot including the aquarium and wharf in Monterey, downtown Pacific Grove rolling into Monterey. Sally was responsive the few times we made contact despite being on Alaska cruise.

The previous reviews are a fair summary.
Location is great, right on the ocean, short walk to the aquarium and Cannery Row and also to downtown Pacific Grove. Lots of lovely restaurants near by.
Beds are super comfy, we had a great nights sleep.
Aquarium passes are a nice gesture.
Kitchen and bathroom need serious investment. The main bathroom has mould on the shower curtain and the grout around the bath is horrible.
Towels are not Egyptian cotton but a mix of old dated beach type towels.
Kitchen - lots of the appliances were not working properly including dishwasher and washing machine. Lots of the crockery / cutlery / pans were dirty and we had to wash before using.

It was bigger than expected, with two good sized bedrooms, and two bathrooms, a living area and kitchen, and a deck to enjoy the view from. We'll be back regularly!

We had a lovely stay at Sally’s in July. The apartment is in a perfect location to explore Monterey peninsula, with the added bonus of a couple of aquarium passes (tip: for younger kids 8-12ish try the scuba experience there!). Easy access and clear comms. As others note in reviews, the apartment and contents has its own style, busy with lots in there and you very much feel like you’re in someone’s home - but it’s as per the listing images. Thanks Sally!

The location is excellent and but our stay is less than 2 stars! Beds are comfortable. We enjoyed our vacation at Pacific Grove area. But we regret that we did not read the reviews carefully before booking. We have been using various bed and breakfast platforms for over 9 years for most if not all of our travels. This was the first time that we ran into this problem - the place was not cleaned: dirty bed linens were left on the sofa in the living room; All towels on the towel rack in the bathroom were damp from previous use; We were not sure if the bed sheets were fresh as the pillows were thrown over each other. It feels like someone left the place in a hurry. The worse was calling and multiple texting to the owner received no response over the span of two days. Sally finally texted back 5 hours after we checked out saying that she was traveling with no cell phone service…. Shouldn’t there be a backup host??? Since the place was not cleaned, shouldn’t the cleaning fee be refunded. We also agree with multiple other reviewers that the place is very cluttered and too much unnecessary stuff. There is no room for our luggage. Not sure how anyone can even vacuum the place. Finally, this is not a bed and breakfast place as there is no coffee, the minimum requirement for “breakfast”.

Loved walking the trail along the beach, reading on the patio, balcony and beach. Weather was perfect!

The location of this property is perfect, facing a lawn/park area, the other side of which is the sea. Quiet, smart neighbourhood and walking distance to shops, restaurants and about 20 mins walk to Monterey & the Aquarium which is worth a visit (2 free passes in the property). Sally was prompt and helpful with my queries - even buying 3 fans in advance when I voiced concerns about the heat having read a review saying windows wouldn’t open.
Only negative is that the actual property is so full of furniture and nick nacks that you struggle to find anywhere to put your own stuff. It would be impossible to have small children with you as every surface is covered with glass bowls and ornaments. There is no room to put your own food items so you have to use the kitchen counter and then have no where to prepare food. Also concerned to see no battery in smoke alarm.
