About this cabin rental
Please note before booking! The cabin next to ours burnt down in January 2022 and the owners are in the process of rebuilding. There will be construction during the day. We do not have any ideas as to how long this process will last. Thank you!

Located just 15 minutes from historic downtown Waynesville NC, 30 minutes from Asheville NC, and then only 6 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway; the Graves Cabin is perfect basecamp for your Smoky Mountain adventure.

This place is perfectly situated to lots of places and falls and trails and the parkway. The cabin is what we expected to be in the mountains. The only draw back was there is a huge house that it is nestled back on and i believe the swimming pont is common area and we had some very rude people ask us what we were doing but once they understood that we rented the cabin on the property they huffed away. There is also river access on the property that was very nice. We spemt the while day on the property and had a great time between the swimming hole and the river. House is well equiped but i do recommend bringing paper plates and cups as the ones provided seemd more like fine china.

We have stayed at the East Fork Ranch previously, though this was our first time at the Graves Cabin. Previously, there was the main lodge and then two rustic cabins next door, of which one was the Graves cabin. Since our last stay, the cabin between the lodge and Graves cabin burned down, and it is currently being replaced with a large modern home. The Graves cabin management was very upfront about this, but we believe the construction of the new house will really change the rental experience for both the main lodge and the Graves cabin. In the short term, the construction at the new house leaves limited parking and problems of access. In the long term, the new house 10' away from the Graves cabin, and blocks the view of both the lodge and much of the scenic area. The cabin itself is very nice, but the experience is no longer as magical as it once was.

Our family of 5 (including three young children) really enjoyed our stay at the Graves Cabin. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The owner and property manager were very friendly and helpful; I never had any trouble getting in contact with either.
The cabin itself is situated on a ranch in a valley with several fields and about three ponds, all of which you have access to check out. There is plenty for a family with young children to do including exploring, fishing, enjoying the fire pit, etc. We had a great time!
However, as the description states, there is construction under way right next door as of Fall 2022 (and it looks months away from completion). It really did not cause a major issue for us, but it's there and detracts from the "ambience", if you will. Construction or not, if you are looking for a secluded getaway, this is probably not the place for you. There are a few rentals and permanent residents nearby that greatly limit how secluded you can feel.
Lastly, in the cabin itself, accessing the loft / bunk space will not be easy for anyone who cannot climb a vertical ladder and fit through a roughly 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft access point. Great for kids, not so much for large or physically limited adults.
The only reason this property didn't get 5 stars from us is because of the construction, which I hope is understandable. This property definitely merits your consideration!

The positives are that the inside of the house is very pleasant and clean and functional. The decor is nice and well maintained. Although, make sure you know that it is very small. The loft ladder is exactly 90* degree straight vertical climb with a small opening at the top just be aware if you are planning for adults to use that area.
This is the review that may seem negative but I feel results from a misleading description in the advertised listing:
While there was a mentioning of construction in process next door, it turns out the construction is essentially attached to this property. I just want potential renters to be aware: you are staying on a job site. There is makeshift walkway of 2x10 boards nailed together to make your way up to the porch and construction debris and supplies piled up everywhere around where you park and in the yard of Graves Cabin. Parking pad is covered in red clay and mud. Extension cords and PVC pipe and orange caution temporary fencing is wrapping the whole side of the property.
You are also not secluded at all. You are situated in between two other properties one seemed to be a permanent residence and the other a very large rental. You will hear highway traffic to your left and all parties and yelling/conversations from the large rental to the right if you are on your porch.
Some may be perfectly fine with this, just make sure you are aware what you are paying for.
Not trying to run the property down at all, simply leaving an accurate review of my three days at this property.

The outside is very run down looking. Our first impression was, "uh-oh!" The inside was very cute, charming, I'd say. The furniture is dated and not very comfortable but we didn't spend a whole lot of time there as we were out hiking and exploring most of the time. The breakfast nook was, by far, my favorite area in the cabin.
The bedroom upstairs is tricky. The ladder is built into the wall and goes straight up. It was awkward but doable for most. Bigger people might have a harder time. My over-active safety mind was also concerned about the exit from there if there was an emergency/fire. I'm not sure it would be the easiest.

Love the area and love the view of the mountains

Charming cabin
The cabin was perfect for the four of us. The only problem was that the cabin next door had burned down in January and it is now a construction site. We were gone during the days so it didn’t affect us that much but it will be a long time before it will be a restful daytime retreat. The kitchen could use one more saucepan.

Family Thanksgiving Weekend
It was a nice place for a family get together. The cabin was clean and rustic. It was smaller than anticipated and could have used more cooking items and utensils. The internet and TV were spotty. The main thing that we did t k ow was that the bunk room was straight up a ladder. The kids with us loved it, but sleeping arrangements had to be changed because someone older in our party could not get up there as originally planned.

The Graves Cabin-East Fork Ranch North Carolina
Five Stars all the way around for this property! It not only met but exceeded all expectations! The property is beautiful with breathtaking views! We spend our entire visit seeing the sites around the Waynesville/Asheville areas and we found it centrally located and just far enough out for us to feel like we were able to escape during our downtime!
It was just the right size for 4 adults! We hope to return in the future!

Relaxing family get away
We had the most relaxing family get away in the Graves cabin. Elizabeth was excellent in communicating with us regarding our booking and Neda, the property manager, was kind and super attentive. They accommodated a couple special request we needed in the kitchen without hesitation.
We loved the view and spent countless hours simply rocking on the front porch. The property is so beautiful and peaceful to explore. Per other reviews, the bunk area is definitely better for younger folks but our 20 year old navigated it just fine. Our only desire would have been to have slightly more comfortable living room furniture if you needed to stay in due to inclement weather. It's beautifully decorated but not particularly built for lounging. It wasn't a factor as we spent most of our time outside. We were also surprised to find excellent Wi-Fi and cell service (ATT) and a cord of wood provided for the fireplace.
Overall, this is an excellent place if you need to escape. We can't wait to return.

Peaceful and gorgeous
If your looking to unwind and reduce some stress your looking at the right place. The property is beautiful, and the kids enjoyed exploring the creek, fishing in the ponds, and being outdoors.
The cabin was well maintained and stocked with useful items to make your start enjoyable. My only complaint was the bed was uncomfortable. The wifi was spotty but I suppose being this far out into the country that is too be expected.
My favorite part was having my morning coffee or evening tea or on the porch and soaking in the views

Great mountain escape
Very adorable cabin perfect for relaxing away from home. With another cabin and lodge nearby it would be a great spot for a larger group.

Perfect cabin getaway
This was our 2nd stay in Graves cabin. We had such a wonderful stay the first time and we were just as pleased with this trip. The property is amazing! Our son-in-law fished for hours while we enjoyed the River bank and watching the eagles. The caretakers are wonderful, friendly people...always kind and accommodating. Such a quaint cabin, comfortable beds, open living space...perfect little cabin!

Cabin on a ranch
I enjoyed my stay at the Graves Cabin with a group of 5 other friends. I will say the one thing I was disappointed in was that the listing was never clear about the loft. The 4 bunk bed loft was “upstairs” in the cabin but the listed failed to tell you that one had to climb up a straight ladder like on a jungle gym to get up to the loft through a small hole in the ceiling. Perfect for kids is an understatement.

Cozy cabin in the mountains
We absolutely loved our stay at the Graves cabin! It was incredibly cozy and the big fireplace was perfect. We found the cabin to have a rustic, homey feel yet with all of the modern amenities we needed to cook breakfasts & dinners. It was fun walking the grounds too where we listened to the rustle of the fall leaves in the forest around the cabin, watch the rapids roll over boulders in the nearby river and sit on the Adirondack chairs by the fire pit. Neda, the property manager, was so helpful! We loved our stay and definitely want to visit again!

Lovely escape
We barely had to leave the property! We adventured by the river and in the ponds, fished, and even went in tubes. Neda was attentive and kind. The kids had a blast and we enjoyed a lovely escape! Will definitely be back!

Cozy cottage
Nice cozy log cabin. Very attractive property. Cabin is well equipped and photos accurately reflect the cabin's condition. A minor surprise - the property is not quite as private as we assumed as there are other rental cabins in close proximity. Although this did not really present any problems as the one next door was not occupied.

Beautiful cabin on a beautiful farm.
A great place to relax at a location that’s close to hiking trails and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We especially enjoyed the fire pit each night. We even saw a Bald Eagle a couple of times.

Incredible property and location
There are no words to describe what a gem this place is. The grounds alone are worth it. The house is small and cozy and the history of the place is so neat. Super clean and the neighbors are so kind. We hope to come back next year!!!!

Beautiful well maintained property and cabin
Can’t wait to come back. Such a beautiful property. I could have sat on the front porch and stared at the view for days. Cabin was well maintained and cozy. Their were so many things we were unable to do during our short stay, we will definitely be back soon.

Perfect weekend
Everything was as described for our weekend of 2 adults and 6 kids. Property manager recommended pigeon river outfitters for tubing and skinny dip falls for hiking. Both were perfect. Everyone had a blast. Swam in the river near e cabin and caught a bunch of fish in the ponds.

Graves cabin bliss
Property is beautiful. The other homes are near and had occupants but we barely noticed. We enjoyed coffee on the porch each morning and the beautiful scenery. We are a family of four and it was the perfect size and some. Great experience 👍

Cozy and comfortable. Favorite things: stone fireplace and lots of wood, front porch rocking chairs, daily visits by chickens and Mollie, hiking trails, fishing lakes and the firepit (also lots of wood) hangout with amazing views. Thanks!!!

Beautiful home and property!
The Graves cabin was awesome and the property that it sits on is even more awesome. We enjoyed our time sitting in the rocking chairs, fishing, and grilling over a wood burning grill. Would highly recommend and look forward to staying again in the future!

Great Mtn Getaway!
We stayed in late July for a long weekend and absolutely loved the property. It's located on a large ranch so our kids could explore and ride their bikes around easily. The location is good so you can make day trips to several of the local sites. Very quiet and peaceful setting on a pond in the valley. We will def be making plans to return next Summer!
