Get out of the fog and into the sun. Enjoy the year-round mild climate and central location of San Rafael, with effortless access to San Francisco to the south (thirty minutes across the world famous Golden Gate Bridge), the spectacular wine country of Napa, Sonoma, and Alexander Valleys (forty minutes), and Berkeley (thirty minutes).

Our home is located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood. 18 steps lead to this attached in-law unit, which features many amenities and unique privacy. Another 12 steps to a semi-private swimming pool, hot tub, and deck, featuring nearly three-hundred-sixty-degree views of the Bay and Mt. Tamalpais.
Our electricity is generated by solar panels and we have a rigorous recycling program. Our full kitchen features coffee-maker, dishwasher, gas over and stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer.
Less than fifty yards away is a hiking trail in a eucalyptus forest, with views of San Francisco in the distance.

Marin County offers beaches, golf, hiking, and biking. (Mountain biking was 'invented' on Mt. Tam.) Local scenery includes breathtaking vistas of Mount Tam, and the ancient redwood forests of Muir Woods, sightseeing in Sausalito and Tiburon, and much more. It features restaurants to fit every budget and culinary taste, as well as, excellent theatre, cinema, and shopping.

San Rafael, home of the 2nd most northern and oldest Catholic mission (founded 1817), also features a civic center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and a refurbished art deco theater in a revitalized downtown.

Very charming and peaceful. View was stunning. Pool was so refreshing and hot tub too. Floaties were a nice touch and the plants and scenery were amazing too. I forgot coffee and was pleasantly surprised with nespresso pods and creamer and milk (not sure thats always there but it was nice). Had beach amenities and bathroom supplies in abundance. The host was communicative and checked by dm. Helpful guidebook in the room pointed us to great meals. Nice pillows, great books, easy parking. Would love to return.

This was our first experience staying in a VRBO and it was more then we could have asked for! Everything you could need was provided, comfortable and the hosts very attentive and checked on you to make sure you didn’t need anything. Communication was great and access easy! We were looking for a place out of the city but with east access - and what a perfect choice! Quiet, up in the hills, with gorgeous views and excellent amenities. Easy drive to downtown but also plenty to do just in the area. Mark was a great host and we loved our short stay!

Then unit was stocked with everything you would need, within close driving distance of points of interest, and 3 houses away from a beautiful hiking trail. The hosts were amazing and even helped me plan some activities.

Quaint in-law quarters attached to the main house but operates independently from the house. Nicely decorated with a comfortable bed that faces a spectacular view. We really enjoyed looking out over the view at night.

The owners were easy to communicate with during our stay. There was plenty of room for the three of us. The views were spectacular. It was convenient to a park where we could walk in nature. We will be back when we return to San Rafael.

Nice apartment with everything you need and great view in a quite neighborhood, close by hiking trails, and good location for city or ocean visits. Too cold/rainy for us to use the pool, but really nice setup. And Mark is a super nice host. We will probably come back.

The generous hosts have left lots of notes and information about what to do and how to get around the area. We will definitely return!

This vrbo has everything one could ask for—a complete & stocked kitchen, brightly lit bathroom (great for putting on contacts & make-up), comfy bed & furniture, great lighting, easy keyless entry. And to top it off—a lovely deck with table/chairs/umbrella & fabulous views of mountains & water. And easy parking.. Would stay again.

When I stepped into a hotel room at my next stop, I immediately missed my "home" in San Rafael. It was exactly as described, extremely clean, and fun to share the top-of-the-hills lifestyle. It is virtually the highest property on the steep winding street that ends just above into open space. Dramatic pool location below and decks filled with plants. Automatic locking/unlocking device on the door with hard to forget code selected just for me was especially appreciated. No key needed. Highly recommend.

Clean, comfortable, well equipped studio in San Rafael hills. Feels spacious and homey with a Queen and single bed and nice kitchen. Open space very close by to enjoy walking, hiking, running or mountain biking. Highly recommend!

The studio apartment is very comfortable, sunny and spacious. It's thoughtfully furnished and very well-stocked. The house is on a hill that overlooks a valley of very pretty green trees. It's a convenient location, close to downtown San Rafael. Mark and Judi were both very helpful and pleasant. I would be delighted to stay in their apartment again.

We had a wonderful stay in the clean, quiet, private cottage. The owners were friendly, helpful and communicated wonderfully, while giving us total privacy. Very comfortable bed and furniture and my husband was even able to take zoom meetings while we were staying there. The owners have put a lot of thought and detail into the studio to make it comfortable and easy to find what you need, including notes and labels on the cupboards! The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware and well as basic cooking ingredients - oil, salt, pepper, spices, and even coffee! This is a gem of a place and I hope we can visit again soon! Thanks for a wonderful 4 nights!!

This is technically a studio, but doesn’t feel like it at all. Everything is comfortable, but high quality and clean. The bed was firm but not hard, and I loved the woven cotton blankets and quilt. Nice thirsty towels, they thought of everything. We slept so well, even the first night, which is rare. The views are amazing. We enjoyed a walk on the trail that starts the end of the cul de sac, thanks for the recommendation. Everything we needed was there. We weren’t there for meals, but if we had been, it would have been easy. Having the option of use of the pool & spa was a nice addition too. We hope Mark & Judi’s place is available next time we’re down. Jenn & Greg

This property overlooks a beautiful valley and is right next to a lovely trail with tall trees and Exquisite views. Host was very nice and accommodating- the property has everything you could possibly need and additional thoughtful touches. It is a little out of the way, but you don’t get views like this in the middle of town!
