The house is adorable and cute from the outside but it is actually really large on the inside and outside. Lots of places to sit and relax. Large dining room table and 2 very good size bedrooms. The third bedroom is small but very comfortable. But the star of the show (at least for us) was the screened-in porch. It is huge with lots of places to sit. We spent a lot of time out there as well as exploring the large, wooded back yard. Kitchen was very, very well stocked. Not sure I’d ever want to make bread on vacation but there was even a bread maker if someone was so inclined. Lots of fresh clean folded towels in each bathroom as well as soap, shampoo etc. Overall the place was very clean. With that said, the owners obviously use the house themselves and there were lots of knick-knacks and personal items on display and throughout the house. To me, that only added to the charm of the house. Note that the frig contained a fair amount of partially used condiments and the freezer was mostly filled with food. That didn’t really bother us as there was enough space for the food that we brought with us. The owner was very responsive and accommodating, including allowing us to have a late checkout. Overall a great house and experience.

We had a wonderful weekend stay! The house was very clean, the location was tucked away and you couldn't hear the cars on the road from inside. The porch at the back of the house was our favorite part! There was plenty of room for everyone, and the outdoor shower was a cool feature. Communication with the property manager was easy and we received quick responses. I would highly recommend this lovely home for anyone traveling to this area to stay.

Everything was nice, we liked the veranda, it was cozy, warm and where we spent most of our awake time.

We spent a long weekend at this home with our two boys and pet labradoodle. The house is well decorated and cared for - it was clean and had everything we could need. There was a beautiful fireplace and we brought firewood for the fire. The pictures do a good job representing the house. We would visit again!

We have rented a number of great properties but this one is the best yet. The property is lovely and the house is gorgeous but very comfortable and extremely well-appointed. We enjoyed the screened porch and outdoor fire pit very much. The surrounding area is beautiful with great hiking and some lovely restaurants and shops in nearby Kent. We visited during the fall foliage season. Absolutely beautiful! We highly recommend this property and hope to stay in it again next year!

Loved our time at this special dollhouse. Plenty of room for our family to be together prior to our son’s wedding in Warren. Upon entering you know it is a well-loved home. I recommend this property for your next get away. Thank you for sharing it with us. SL

This house has a lovely back yard but there was so much stuff in the refrigerator and countertops that we had hardly any room to put our stuff. Its crammed full with stuff everywhere! There also was no trash can in the master bathroom.

Very few lodging opportunities near Kent, CT. This is a unique victorian property filled with many antiques and original hardwood floor and many dollhouses. We fully enjoyed our stay here but caution families that it will be best enjoyed by those who love tradition and solitude. It is within 5 miles of downtown Kent but all amenities have to coke from there.

The screened in porch was the highlight. We spent many hours enjoying the weather and scenery.

We had a wonderful stay at this home near Warren, CT. Everything at the house worked well, there were no issues. The patio and outdoor space are GREAT, even better than they look in the photos. Honestly, we didn't have a lot of contact with the owner, because we didn't have any troubles at all to report. But I'm certain they would have been entirely helpful if anything had come up. Thanks for everything!

We spent the whole time outside or in the screened area so the indoor decor didn’t matter.
Outdoor firepit area is nice.
The screened-in living room and outdoor shower were great ways to beat the heat.
Good outdoor privacy.
The grass and shrubbery was a bit overgrown but not an issue.
Upstairs sleeping areas and bathrooms were very accommodating.

This property has the best enclosed back porch and yard for family getaways. The house also offers a ton of vintage charm and history. Our thanks to Pat and Tom for their hospitality.

Tom's property instantly feels like you're home. It's incredibly well-stocked and cozy. Communication was top notch. We absolutely loved the screened in back porch - would spend every day reading books here if I could!

Our family had a great time during our July stay at this charming, comfortable and well appointed CT country house. It is historic but with additions and modernizations made over the years. Our stay was during the July heat wave but air conditioners cooled the bedrooms, dining room and main living area of the house. The screened porch with ceiling fan was great in the mornings and evenings when the temperature in Warren is much cooler and less humid than at home in NYC.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we are returning in August.

Property says no smoking , I wouldn’t dream of smoking in a house built in 1775 and formerly owned by Eric Sloane. We arrived and realized quickly it wasn’t set back into the woods it’s right on a main road . The house was super warm and getting the house cool for us would have been nice . There were cigarette ashes on a plate on the porch, the fire pit had garbage all around it. When we went upstairs there was a wicked stench of perfume . We started unpacking and realized quite a bit of old food left in the refrigerator and freezer. We didn’t feel comfortable spending the night so we drove all the way back home and decided to come back to the area the next day and spend some time on the property . We started to go for a walk around the property are realized we couldn’t go anywhere bc there was a massive wasps nest in a mini blue house . What if I had kids ? They would have ran right up to it .
I also have to go as far to say this property without a doubt it haunted and I’m leaving it at that. The basement isn’t finished like in the description it’s full of someone’s belongings . We were very misguided on this stay. Otherwise the house is a beauty

Great stay in a beautiful part of CT
We stayed here for my brothers wedding. It was a nice location, with a short drive to Kent and Cornwall. Great communication and a very pleasant overall experience. Our young kids loved the miniature dollhouses throughout the house. The large screened back porch is a wonderful area to start the day with a coffee. Beds were comfortable. Thanks for the hospitality!

My daughter and I spent a lovely weekend visiting antique shops in Connecticut, and chose the Appleyard as our home base. The house is a charming historic property with a beautiful yard. The screen room was a nice bonus, and we would have spent more time out there if the weather had been nicer. Kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable, and the hosts were pleasant to deal with. We would definitely look to stay again if we return to the area.

Weekend Getaway
This quaint home was a wonderful weekend getaway. My in-laws explored the nearby town. The property was beautiful. Our kids and dog enjoyed running around. We explored nearby eateries and parks. We played board games and had an overall great time.

Great Place
Super clean, very well-stocked house with a lot of character and plenty of room for family/friends. It was also an excellent location for us since we were coming from New Jersey and meeting family from the Boston area.

Very nice
House was very nice. Cool old farmhouse feel. Beautiful property. Property owners were very open with communication and quick to respond to any questions. My group agreed that we would stay here again.

Great pandemic meet up spot!
We met some friends at this lovely home to reconnect during the pandemic. The house is old and therefore has some quirks - like stepping up into one of the bathrooms, but we found all of this charming and the house is comfortable with modern touches, for example - it's very easy to adjust the heat and we were plenty warm despite a recent cold snap.
There are plenty of extra towels and an extremely well stocked kitchen! The outdoor space is fabulous. We had two young kids with us who loved playing on the outdoor play structure and with the play kitchen and play car.
I would love to come back in the summer to better enjoy the expansive screened in porch, perfect for a summer evening!

Overall we were satisfied with our stay here. The owner's were easy to communicate with via text when required. The first floor could use a dehumidifier, the kitchen drawers were not easy to open and the spice cabinet rack fell out one evening when we weren't even in the kitchen. Overall we enjoyed the fireplace and the large living room in which to gather. The house is in a great area, which is why it was appealing to us.

Comfortable, cute house in good location
Nice place. Good location, rustic, pretty well stocked kitchen with plenty of seating space and 4 beds. Loved the fireplace. My only minor complaint was that the smallest bedroom has a slanted floor that makes the bed uncomfortable.

Great!
What a great place to relax! The home has plenty of spaces for everyone to spread out and take a break. Wonderfully maintained.

Our traveling couple had to cancel the trip due to Hurricane Ida leaving 2 trees on their home! Our daughter's family (3 girls) came over Friday and Saturday-the house was perfect! Best comfy home, huge back porch and yard and the host answered questions and made suggestions within 1 minute! Everything was just wonderful! Great location for all the towns near Litchfield. Thank you -we will be back for a longer stay !!!
