About this apartment rental
Get away from it all at our peaceful and immaculate studio apartment nestled in the trees just steps from pristine Green Lake. Enjoy two hundred feet of gorgeous waterfront on two lovely acres. We are on a well maintained unpaved road with little traffic, affording peace and quiet.
In the Loon's Nest, you'll find a comfortable queen sized bed that looks out on the lake. If you're an early riser, you can watch the sunrise from bed, but the door and windows all have blinds to lower if you plan to sleep in or nap. You're here to relax and rejuvenate! A microwave, small fridge, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, dishes and silverware are provided for light meal preparation. You have access to a gas barbecue grill as well. WiFi is provided.
No pets please and no smoking.
There are the two kayaks and a 15’ canoe available at the water's edge with life jackets provided.
Read and relax in the large hammock at the water’s edge or simply watch the leaves above you sway in the breeze. Take a long walk if you like. Swim in clean clear water at the end of our dock, where you can see 12 feet to the bottom. Green Lake is considered one of the premier lakes in Maine, with spring fed depths of up to 180 feet. Our dock is unusually spacious, with 2 Adirondack chairs at the end and two lounge chairs closer in. There are also additional lounge chairs on the lawn, providing plenty of places to relax.
If you decide to check out the area, Ellsworth is 15 minutes away. It has just about everything you might need or want. Small towns like Blue Hill, Surry, and Belfast are all less than an hour from our location and the city of Bangor is a half hour to our north.
The entrance to Acadia National Park is 40-45 minutes away, and has 45 miles of carriage trails to bike on (without road traffic) and gorgeous hiking trails that wind along the ocean or climb to amazing views. You can rent bikes or sea kayaks at several locations if desired. You might decide to drive to the top of Mt. Cadillac for a spectacular view, go whale watching, drive the scenic Park Loop Road, or enjoy charming towns like Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Northeast Harbor.
After a day enjoying the Ellsworth area or Acadia National Park, come back and take a nice cool swim. There's a swim ladder at the end of our dock and the apartment has beach towels for your use. The Loon's Nest does not have a television; we’re hoping that you connect with nature during your stay. We have friends and family who continually turn down day trips when they're here; all they want to do is relax and enjoy our wooded lakeside setting. Whether you decide to explore our beautiful area by car, get active, or just relax, we want you to have a wonderful time!

This property was astounding, and my friend and I enjoyed staying there very much. The access to the dock was amazing, the space was comfortable, and the access to the hot tub and grill were great too. If you book this place, just be aware that there is NOT A KITCHEN! We did not realize this before arriving, and had a bunch of groceries that couldn't be stored. It is also on the owner's property, so they will be there. Overall, and amazing stay!

Everything about this place was wonderful. Donna and Dave warmly greeted us when we arrived and made us feel so welcome. This was our first trip to Maine and Donna gave us information to help us plan our trip in advance, being very responsive to emails and texts. The property is beautiful and serene. You’ll have a view of the lake from your room. Donna and Dave were very gracious to allow us to walk on their dock, use their kayaks, and use their hot tub! The apartment itself was very nicely set up, and Donna has stocked it with everything you might need. it’s obvious she pays close attention to detail and wants to ensure her guests enjoy their stay. Wherever I go and whatever room I book, I would be fortunate to find places as lovely and hosts as gracious. I would come back to this place over and over if in this part of Maine again.

We had a lovely time at the Loon's Nest. We spent an entire day on the dock and it was spectacular. Just the rest and relaxation my husband and I were looking for. The water is crystal clear, and they have 13 Loon's on the lake. Donna was very responsive with our requests. We had a camp fire every evening, cooked on their grill, and enjoyed the hot tub.

Donna and Dave have put a lot of effort into delivering the best experience possible to their guests. It is evident in everything from the cleanliness of the property, to everything they supply you with during your stay. They are always available to answer any question you might have, and to assist you with anything you want to do during your stay. If you decide to book the Loon’s Nest you will not regret it for a second, but do it quickly before someone beats you to the punch.

We are two seventy-somethings who love the outdoors, wanting a quick get-a-way where we could enjoy nature and relax, yet not have the hassle of camping. This sweet cozy little place, hidden away at the lake's edge, was all we could ask for and more. The studio apartment charmed us with its lake front view and cheerful design. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the hot tub, watching the birds and squirrels, and listening to the loons calls. We made a couple quick trips to Ellsworth to enjoy lunch and breakfast out and a bit of shopping, but basically we wanted to spend most of our time at the Loon's Nest. We do plan to return, this place has captured our hearts!

A very helpful host on a very nice lake. We enjoyed a peaceful morning kayak ride and wound down the night in the hot tub when on the property. Otherwise, we spent our days at Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and then another trip to the Southwest Harbor with the convenient location.

We loved our stay. Location was wonderful proximity to hiking at Acadia daily. We enjoyed using the hot tub at night after a day of hiking. We ate dinner two nights at Helen’s restaurant portions were huge and dessert so yummy. Donna and Dave have created a relaxing environment and they are available to answer any questions. Rental is clean, tastefully decorated and includes the essentials with lots of thoughtful extras to make your stay enjoyable. .

Perfect for a quiet getaway! Would only recommend for people to bring robes if they plan to use the hot tub in the fall/winter months, as the hot tub is located at the main house, only a short path away but it can get chilly! Otherwise the stay was absolutely perfect! Hosts were super friendly and accommodating. Apartment was super clean and had everything you could need.

Donna and Dave treated us as treasured guests. The apartment was beautifully set up with absolutely everything we needed and more, even ingredients for smores. The hot tub was the perfect temperature and we enjoyed it each night. We made use of the fire pit and grill 2 nights.
Communication was easy, the only problems we had were with the Stayz site.
If we lived in the US we would return. We have precious memories of our visit.

Donna and Dave’s beautiful Loon’s Nest was the perfect welcoming refuge after a long day of hiking Acadia and the Schoodic Peninsula…and the hot tub was absolutely heavenly and healing. We recommend paddling the kayaks around the lake to soak up the late afternoon sun and take in the serene and soulful sounds of this beautiful place. The Loon’s Nest is truly a slice of heaven and we are so grateful to Donna and Dave for sharing it with us. Did I mention the sunrise here is breathtaking?! :-)

First Donna and Dave were gracious hosts. Great communication about arrival and anything we might need during our stay. The place was just as advertised. We took advantage of the proximity to Bar Harbor and made the Trek to Thunder Hole for sunrise (well worth the early alarm). Spent the day in bar harbor, hiked to Bar island during low tide, enjoyed Lobster Benedict at Jeannie's Great Maine Breakfast, Lobster Roll at the Bar Harbor Inn patio for lunch, and a cheesecake wine pairing. We even fit in a couples massage Tree of Life Day spa. Finished our Lobster fest with a dinner stop at Union Lobster Pot in Ellsworth. When we git back Dave had the fireplace set up and we enjoyed a great sunset and glass of wine by th fire. The next day we never left the lake. We kicked around the lake for an hour or so,then returned and read books sitting on the Adirondack chairs gently rocking at the end of the dock. We enjoyed another night by the fire as well. You could also take advantage of the clear lake for a swim or relax in the hot tub. One of the best features was falling asleep to the sound of the Loons calling. Thanks for a great relaxing visit.

Amazing place and location!
Donna's place was nothing but amazing and awesome! The entire room is so cute and follows the theme of a loon, a bird that lives in the nearby lake. The place is so convenient in terms of location (right on the lake) and the amount of amenities that the property offers is endless (from kayaks to S'mores sticks). Donna and her husband were quick to respond to any questions or requests and delivered unbeatable and the best customer service. If you're ever in the area or exploring Acadia National Park, this is definitely the place to stay in!!!

The loons nest was so relaxing with great views in the morning. you wake up with a beautiful view of the trees and the lake. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. Can’t say enough about the Great communication with Donna and Dave. A lot of towns to explore near by. And the Acadia national park about 45 min away. We definitely recommend this place!

Exceeded my expectations!
This place is so much better than the pictures. As soon as I arrived, I walked down the dock to take in the view. Incredibly beautiful and peaceful. And the apartment is more spacious than I anticipated. Donna was very communicative and periodically checked in with me to make sure I had everything I needed. I explored the town center of Ellsworth one day. Lots of nice shops and restaurants. Acadia National Park is about an hour drive or less. Amazing area. A must see. I enjoyed spending time in the apartment and on the lake just relaxing. I came up from Boston. So it was nice to get away to find some peace. I hope to visit again during the warmer months.

Loon’s Nest is heaven on earth!
We truly enjoyed our time at the Loon’s Nest. Donna and Dave are caring and kind hosts who have thought of everything for a cozy stay. Use of the dock, hot tub and fire pit after hiking in Acadia were such a peaceful and relaxing way to end the day. We enjoyed the both sunrise with coffee and moonrise from the dock and hearing the loon calls made it even more magical for just the two of us - Highly recommend!

Lakeside Stay
We had a great time at Loon’s Nest! Donna and Dave have made a relaxing retreat! We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, relaxing on the dock and watching the loons. It was a convenient location for visiting or hiking Acadia. Sitting by the fire was a nice way to end the day.
We hope to return in the future!

"The way life should be"
The Loon's Nest was a great alternative to staying in Bar Harbor. The drive to ANP allowed us to explore the towns of Ellsworth and Trenton and lots of cute small businesses along the way. Mostly, we loved coming back to the tranquility of Donna and Dave's beautiful homestead.

Adventurous
We want to thank Donna and Dave so much for giving us the opportunity stay at their cute little cabin. Folks like them who open their homes and make the stay affordable deserves a gold medal. Not to mention their hospitality. We have always dreamed of visiting Maine and they made it possible for us. The location was everything we enjoy in life from the camp fires, kayaking, star gazing, hot tub or just sitting on the dock relaxing. We really enjoyed the town of Ellsworth. They offered many antique shops, great restaurants and the friends and family corner store. Only being about 40 minutes from Arcadia Nation Park made our stay even better without expecting it. We spent one day on sand beach then the next day hiking all around the park. The scenery is out of this world. The 200 pictures I took does no justice. We even got ENGAGED! While visiting the Park. All thanks to Donna and Dave. We will definitely be back when the opportunity comes back around for us. Thanks again Donna and Dave! Keep making dreams come true. Yours truly John and Lindsey from Ohio

Great for a relaxing getaway
Beautiful surroundings, very few people - in the middle of a pandemic, what else can you ask for? Loved the view of the lake, access to the hot tub and the ability to make a fire outdoors. The room was neat as a pin. They were really lovely hosts and very accommodating. Literally the only unexpected/challenging thing was unreliable WiFi (it was snowing so could have been the weather maybe), so plan for more of a device-free weekend. Thanks for having us!
