Just amazing. The perfect if are going to visit UC Berkeley.
I always stay with Susan and Greg if possible and I have been there 4 times during 8 years. The apartment is fine and cozy, the garden with birds and squirrels and the view of the bay and SF is just wonderful. So, I hope to be back soon.

Stayed there 4 nights. It definitely has a great view of the bay and SF! That was the highlight. It is not in a convenient location to restaurants and it sits up on a hill to where if you walk anywhere be ready to take a hike back up! We took an Uber to wherever we needed to go. For a reason I will not divulge, I simply could not give it a good cleanliness rating. It should have been taken care of if things were being cleaned well!!!

Cute place with a nice view of SF. Not a lot of restaurants and other places close by that is a short distance to walk... somewhat isolated but quiet.

We had a great time there. It was well situated in the hills. The views were breathtaking , the yard and its flora were beautiful, and the owners were kind and welcoming.

Spacious and clean one bedroom apartment with spectacular view of San Francisco, tucked on a quiet street in the Berkeley hills, only a short walk to the university. The apartment opens onto a beautifully maintained three level garden. It was a perfect spot for visiting our family who is scattered across the East Bay. Although we had little need to contact our hosts, they were readily available. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful garden and apartment. Well equipped for a stay with laundry and kitchen facilities and a book library. Note that's quite a walk up a steep hill from Berkeley so you need to be fit or else have your own vehicle or use Uber. A great introduction for us to America. Susan is a friendly helpful host and the view to the city is stunning.

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights to visit Berkeley and hit all our favorite spots from when we used to live in Berkeley. The accommodations provided a great spot for us to live in for the week. We were able to cook some simple meals and loved the view of the Bay Bridge. The location is awesome, far enough up the hill to have a view, quiet neighborhood with easy street parking, and walkable to the Rose Garden. We had a great stay!

Lovely Retreat
Hubby and I were in town for over a month to visit with brand new grandson. Daughter's house is too small and the Berkeley Hills home was a nice retreat. Daughter ended up coming a few afternoons to relax and take a nap while I got to take care of our grandchild. Thanks for a nice stay.

Good location with a sweet garden
Very comfortable, no problems parking on the street. The house had everything we needed. Would have loved to stay longer, but they are pretty busy! Be aware there are 30 steps down to the place if that is an issue for you. Hosts were very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely come back. Thanks Greg and Susie!

Berkeley Student Drop Off
Combined dropping our son at Berkeley with a short vacation. Location is close to campus, and up on a hill where you catch the breezes. Apartment is lovely. The stairs down are long, so if climbing stairs is an issue, consider that.

Amazing hillside apartment with view of San Fran
We loved staying in this unique, beautiful apartment in an historic house! The terraced garden was lush and extensive with fruit trees and the patio view of San Fran was stunning. The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for a full week stay. The hosts were very friendly, inviting and responsive. We will certainly return to this hillside retreat.

Berkeley Hills Wonder
This was a wonderful place to have stayed, the home upon arrival is stunning and historic. When you reach the apartment, you are met with the perfect view of downtown San Francisco; all the while standing in one of the most beautiful gardens in the neighborhood. The interior of the apartment was just as great as the exterior. Susie, the awesome landlord, has the space perfectly stocked and styled with everything that I was missing from home. In suite laundry, Heat/AC, full spacious kitchen (I cooked Thanksgiving dinner in), and even a small library for an afternoon read whilst catching amazing views from every room. If you have an opportunity to be lucky enough to stay here, take it! I am so lucky to have enjoyed Susie's hospitality and thank her for allowing me to stay in such a wonderful home.

Unsatisfied
I do not recommend this property. Check-in was problematic. No one was there to open the door. We needed to wait quite sometime to enter the premise. There were gnats, spiders and spider webs throughout the apartment. The apartment was so dusty that it made my son and I sneeze. The entrance of the apartment was filthy. The downstairs garden has a significant amount of dog feces. Dog feces from their dog was also nearby the front entrance door and stairs. Several requests were made for it to be picked up. I was also surprised when they asked if we could pick it up. I made it clear that it was not our dogs that made the mess. There were 2 separate occasions where the owner and one of their family members came into the apartment unannounced, which startled us, making us feel uncomfortable. On the last 3 days, loud construction coming from the upstairs apartment occurred for several hours per day, making it difficult to relax. You can also hear the tenants from the upstairs apartment walking around. We are glad our stay is over.

Bay Area get away
It definitely suited our style of living--remote from the insanity of congested city dwelling, yet close enough to city activities. The apartment unit itself has a very open feel with spectacular views of the bay including the bay bridge and into the city.

Very comfortable home away from home!
So easy to feel at home here...pop a bottle of wine in the fridge and wait for sunset. Easy walk down to the campus and a decent calorie burner coming back up after dinner. Plentiful parking. The stairs down to the unit are steep, but become easier day by day. The unit itself has plenty of space, and useful amenities. Susie and Greg take excellent care of their guests!

Quiet and Relaxing
This property had a great view of the Bay and had an amazing garden to enjoy the view from. The apartment is small and clean. You and another person could easily fit comfortably. The owners of the house were very nice. When I return to the Bay Area, I will deffinetly be staying at this location again.

Perfect!
My daughter and I along with my grandchildren stayed at Susie's place in June. We loved the view the garden and the quaint set up of the apartment downstairs underneath the house they live in. My Grandchildren adored Hershel, their dog, who came to visit and say hello everyday.
It was close to everything including San Francisco. The family was very accommodating and helpful! I would absolutely come back!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Edie and the gang
Thanks so much for hosting us!

Charming studio with a lovely garden view in foreground highlighted by panoramic San Francisco view.
Very peaceful, easy to access studio in close proximity to UC Berkeley campus and city of Berkeley. You don’t need a car, but parking is readily available if you have one. There’s a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable living area with television and internet service. It’s an ideal home way from home.

Quiet basement suite in hills north of UC Berkeley
Pros:
- View is phenomenal
- Neighborhood is quiet
- Apartment is spacious and comfortable
- Kitchen is well-equipped
- <10 minute walk to north-east corner of UC Berkeley campus
- 10 minute downhill walk to Gourmet Ghetto and Safeway
Cons:
- Pest issues. Ants were widespread in the kitchen and present in bathroom. A mouse was seen on two occasions. Hopefully they can hire someone to resolve this.
- Noise from upstairs apartment (TV, music, voices) was certainly audible.

Quiet comfortable place convenient to Cal. With great views! Would return.
The owners are taking very nice care of this 'basement' apartment that opens out to a patio with spectacular views of the bay. Great for walking to town and campus if you don't mind hills. There was a small hitch upon arrival delaying our checkin, which the owners handled quickly and with a great deal of class - I greatly appreciate their response! They seem like good people. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect apartment in wonderful Berkeley location
This is a lovely place. We (2 adults) stayed for almost two weeks during a UC workshop. It's a 10-minute walk to campus and 10 minutes down (15 back up :)) to the gourmet ghetto with Peet's and Cheeseboard and other wonderful foods. The apartment is the base of a large house and the view is as seen in the advertisement, from both bedroom and living room. There are gardens beneath this view and the building in back is a historic school, not currently in use.
The apartment is about halfway up the hill and the entrance is down from the street around 30 steps. We parked our car on the street without problems. It is just a great location for walking around the beautiful, unique homes of Berkeley and their gardens- we spent many hours on long walks.
It is a very quiet location. There can be some sound from the upstairs apartment but it wasn't a problem for us. We always bring earplugs to sleep anyway, and had no problems on a work schedule. The kitchen has everything needed (basket coffeemaker, filters were there) and bathroom is just right with standard shower. The living area has a lovely bookcase and comfy reading nook along with couch, etc.
We saw the owners just a couple of times and they are friendly and interesting, and there is a sweet quiet dog on premises. We travel a lot, and would come back here in a heartbeat!

Awesome place. Had a fantastic stay.
Beautiful location, stellar views. Could spend entire day in terraced garden. Private entrance was great, but a long staircase.
Susan was a wonderful host. Only wish we had more time to spend with her.
Historic architectural neighborhood and home was fascinating. Walking tour is worth the time, but very hilly.
Loved it.

Charming garden getaway
Your hosts are very helpful, the view is delightful and you wake to the garden of Eden each morning. Please disregard anyone's written concerns about water temperature-- there's plenty of hot water for those who wait a minute or two. Do note: there are some steep stairs with a railing to reach the guest quarters, not a big problem but fair warning for those with heart issues, knee problems or, like me, a 50 pound suitcase!
